Experienced poor customer service. I was eager to visit this gym for the first time, but the person on the other end of the call kept disconnecting my call numerous times for no reason. It would've only taken a couple of mins to answer my questions. Greatly disappointed!

Overall good gym with good equipment, staff and clean locker rooms. Everything is properly cleaned and everyone that works the desk is great along with the personal trainers. The reason being for a 2 star review is because of the community. The community for this gym has some issues. Constant stare offs in the gym and outside in the parking lot. Alongside with the pseudo influencers and ego lifts. Several times ive had individuals look over at the weight someone is lifting and shake their head in disapproval. Only for them to pick up slightly heavier weight and lift it in very poor form to show them off.

Great 24/7 Gym! All the members are there to put in work! Very welcoming and willing to help, no xsport stare downs. Super clean, and they have every machine! Sometimes, the contractor remodeling accidentally sets off the fire alarm 😂. Also if you are there late at night the refrigerator makes a noise like someone is knocking on the glass don't be alarmed.

Love this gym, been a member for 6 months. And from all the gym’s I have join this one is my favorite!
The staff has great costumer service , good vibes when you walk in, they also have a shop where you can get your
Supplements, or energy drink to pump you up before doing a great workout.
It’s never tooooo pack where I have to wait for a machine to do a workout. And the price is perfect not expensive at all. Which is a plus. Another plus is very clean!

Super clean gym! There are sanitizing wipes stations located throughout and the majority of members are courteous to wipe down the equipment after use which is nice. I’ve been a member on and off since it first opened under Linda and Mitch years ago. Now that Joe has taken ownership, I see many familiar faces still which says a lot —people like it here. The equipment is being maintained and kept in good working condition. I love that it’s open 24/7 —my daughter and I have been there daily over holiday weekends. It’s like a homey neighborhood gym where everyone is friendly.

I have been a member since Joe opened in October 2018. I frequent this gym 4 to 5 times a week and I’m very happy. The staff is friendly and helpful from the minute you walk in the door. The equipment is clean and in good working order. They have everything I need and continue to add or replace equipment on a regular basis. There is a supplement store on the premises that has everything you would need at a good value.

Ithe gym is open 24 hours a day which I do not use but if that’s your thing the gym is available for you. I have been a member of many gyms in my lifetime and find this to be one of my favorites.

I started coming to Joe’s and ever since then I’ve had a much more pleasant workout experience! The owner Joe and trainers Zulema, Jose, and Gabby always welcome me in with a smile on their face. The equipment is clean and maintained and people seem to really enjoy their time here. Not only do they have great equipment, but they have a fantastic supplement shop with numerous options that can cater to your needs. This gym has truly transformed my health and fitness!

I've been a member of all the gyms you hear about the most; at Joe's Gym I dont feel overwhelmed with unnecessary equipment, i never feel kicked out from in front of the mirror or intimidated out of the free weights section. They are always clean, temperature is right, staff is friendly/personable, it's the perfect size and structure, they serve all your training needs in both equipment and nutrition/supplements and they are always open!!

Want a gym that's not about that corporate run around, fees, tricks, sales gimmicks? I've been to many gyms, i've worked in many gyms, and now I own my own business... I know Joe personally and if there's anything I know about running a business, you need good people to run it. Joe is what you would call "good people". He's worked at corporate gyms, he knows the grim and underhanded tricks they try to pull, and he now owns his own gym to do the exact opposite.

Owner character aside, the gym has everything you could want. It's not huge but it makes up for in quality equipment. You have every cardio machine you can think of including stairmasters since that's the new thing. All the machines are basically brand new. I've even tested some of them an they move perfectly so no refurbished junk. The cable stacks are all calibrated, even, and smooth. Finally, there's enough dumbbells that go well past 100 lbs for anyone to enjoy. I highly recommend this gym if you're in the area. Even if you're not, come check it out and you might be willing to make the commute. My biggest gripe with corporate gyms is how dirty it is and the broken equipment that never gets fixed. This gym is the completed opposite of that and Joe makes sure of it.

The owner is a complete rude person! She does not acknowledge when your at the counter because she is busy talking on the phone!
She has a problem with people. I asked about a/c in the summer as the place was so hot i was going to pass out and she said i couldn't talk to her like that and then canceled my membership. She said she did not have to supply fans or a/c to her customers. Terrible Terrible service and very immature as an owner. Not to mention her steroid problem that she does in the gym!! Do not join...find a better place.

"There is nothing we can do", is not a proper way of running a business. The Des Plaines location that I attended for the past 2 years is closing. I simply asked for a refund for the difference from the time that I canceled my membership till the end of the month, they were not able to accommodate. They said that you could have stayed a member till when the doors shut. However, with the AC not being turned on during the summer months it was unbearable to work out. Not a proper way of running a business.

I have belonged to many gyms including Ballys, LA Fitness, and several Park District Facilities and by far this gym beats them all on cleanliness. The owners take pride in maintaining the equipment, I joined at the beginning of 2017 and have yet to see anything out of order. What is nice for me is I can use equipment that I normally could not get on or be embarrassed to use in a larger gym. The Wifi works great, I never have a problem connecting, there are plenty of TVs playing a good variety of stations. The music is not blaring so if you prefer using a headset you don't have to blast the volume.
What would be nice additions to the gym are a water bottle filler type drinking fountain, a scale and a defibrillator device, I have not seen one of these.
Lastly, there is plenty of parking CLOSE to the door, it only takes a few minutes to get from the parking to the locker room leaving additional time for working out.

For the price and size, this place has a great range of well-maintained equipment - squat rack, smith machine, benches, dumbbells, weight machines, cardio, etc. Friendly staff and never too crowded.

My only real issue is the lack of wifi and the occasional Nickelback that plays on the speakers. Great place though.

I visited this gym today during my search for a gym in the area that is closer to where I work in Schaumburg. The facility itself is new and clean and the locker rooms are well maintained. It doesn't seem like it gets too crowded which is great for being able to use the power rack and other machines when you need them. The variety of machines wasn't too great, as I noticed they were missing some that I normally use.

The biggest disappointments today came first from the fact that I was charged $10 to use the gym despite explaining my situation and my search for a good gym near work. Other gyms that I have tried in the area have given me at least a one day trial. Nevertheless I paid the small fee without much complaint.

During my workout, I realized that doing ninja squats in the power rack wouldn't be possible as it is boxed in, and the exercise requires wide stretching of the legs from side to side. So I decided to improvise and use a 100 lb fixed weight barbell to do the exercise. After performing each set, I had to resort to dropping the bar behind my back as it is extremely difficult for me to behind-the-neck press 100 lbs in order to lower the bar, especially after just performing a set. I try to avoid dropping weights but in this case it was necessary to performing the exercise.

The girl running the place this evening approached me and told me not to drop weights. I explained the above situation to her and how it is impossible for me to perform the exercise otherwise, and her response was "if you have to drop the weight, then you shouldn't be using such heavy weight." I was honestly confounded by the ignorance and her rudeness. There's a huge difference between the shoulders and legs when trying to move heavy weight. So 100 pounds was just fine for the leg workout, but obviously much more difficult on my shoulders to move the bar up off my traps, over my head, and onto the ground. I was extremely embarrassed to be told off like that about something I couldn't avoid, and the fact that she was unable to try and understand my point culminated in a disappointing experience at this gym.

Needless to say I will not be coming back here to sign up for a membership as there are much better options in the area.

Great gym. Price and convenience is unbeatable. The equipment is in superb shape and the provided sanitizing wipes make for a safe and comfortable work out space. Even with only one squat rack, I rarely had to wait at all and never had to wait long. Other clients have been friendly and willing to work in/share sets if needed, which has been rare (I usually work out between 5-6pm). No contract is a testament to this gyms commitment to quality. Would recommend to anyone in the area whether you live, work, or commute near either location.

I got kicked out of this gym for requesting that a television be changed from 'E' Entertainment Television to a Cubs playoff game (I posted a review of my true experience they did not find acceptable). Co-owner Mitch Brown revoked my membership. He is a rude, surly, retired military type on a power trip. Mitch picks favorites and truly doesn't understand how to provide good customer service. I was shocked to be verbally accosted by Mitch for requesting the playoff game be put on as if it were a completely absurd request. The following day one of his friends made the same request for a Toronto playoff game and they were all too happy to oblige. You are only worthy of respect from Mitch if you pay to be in one of his workout groups otherwise, he would just as soon not have you as a customer. I am now evaluating other gyms to find a better one and will provide reviews.

Rude staff - i would have to agree with the review below by James - its not about the staff abiding by their policies - its the manner and attitude in which they do it - mainly the male owner of the gym. A person can get the same results without threatening or being arrogant towards their customers. He may benefit from a class in anger management or taking a class in How to Win Friends and Influence People. From now on i'll be looking for a gym elsewhere.
