Northern Illinois Dance Center is dedicated to providing you with a premium dance education, but also a memorable experience. Consistent improvement is a top priority, but equally important is ensuring a fun environment that allows for team building and everlasting friendships.
We at Northern Illinois Dance Center value the importance of family. As a family-oriented business we strive to provide not only a comfortable, fun environment for our dancers, but also for their families. Our studio offers wireless internet and a homework lounge, allowing students and their parents a space to work and study while in our studio.
Our dedicated staff, most of which have a background in education aside from dance, offer a unique area of expertise.

I recently had an experience at NIDC that left me profoundly disappointed, prompting me to share my concerns.
Initially after joining, I held a positive opinion of the studio's professionalism and fairness. However, regrettably, my trust was severely shaken.
Out of the blue, I received an email from the studio owner, saying that she does not believe NIDC is the right fit for my nine-year old daughter and to expect a refund for classes in about 3 business days. Apparently, this stemmed from conflict with my daughter and another student. To say I was utterly shocked is an understatement, as this issue had NEVER once been mentioned to me before receiving the email that indicated we were no longer enrolled. I was completely blind sided.
What makes this situation even more disheartening is that the studio owner mentioned that this was not a new problem, as she had heard of similar instances from the prior year. Apparently this was just new to me, her mom.
As a parent, staying informed about matters affecting my child's learning environment is of the utmost importance, whether that is in school or extra curricular activities. How can I help her when I didn't even know there was a problem? It is disheartening because it leaves me feeling that my daughter was singled out and targeted as the problem. I can't help but feel that we are being discriminated against, as the studio owner didn't even bother to have a conversation with us.
As a concerned parent, I hope this review encourages NIDC to reconsider their approach to handling situations and work toward a more transparent and equitable experience for ALL families. It seems that only select students and families are prioritized, which is a disservice to not only my daughter, but to all students involved.

This studio is such a gem and has amazing instructors, philosophy, and a supportive environment for all ages/stages of dancing. The owner is so responsive and excellent with communication. My daughter absolutely loves dancing with NIDC--so glad she joined!

I am amazed with the dance teachers in this industry, but I was very disappointed with the owner. I was a new dance mom with my oldest daughter, and when I reached out about a situation that was not communicated well, the owner thought it was okay to react with sending me an aggressive email justifying her actions. Even though I was new and spent MY money for her services, in her mind she was right and that was the end of the story. I am so happy I pulled my daughter out of her program and placed her into a dance studio that is amazing with the kids and communicates well with all parents.

My daughter loves dancing at NIDC! The studio's atmosphere is easy going and welcoming. The staff are very caring, patient and understanding with the dancers. My daughter has danced at other studios and happily calls NIDC her second home.

My daughter has been dancing at this studio for a couple years now and I’m so glad I chose this studio. Her instructors have always been wonderful, the right balance of play and structure. The studio has a very welcoming atmosphere and we’ve always felt like one of the family. I personally find attributes, such as cultural and body diversity important, both of which this studio exemplifies. They approach dance from an attitude of everyone and every body can be a dancer. My daughter loves dancing with NIDC and her NIDC family.
