Looks like a nice facility but... left message 3 weeks ago. No one called back. Talked with my pcp, she gave me a referral for specific programs, went there impromptu and spoke with Denise. Nice lady, kept my referral and scheduled me for last Thurs - unfortunately I was ill and left message. Left more messages to reschedule with Denise/Hannah Friday and Monday. Crickets. Would be a nice place for exercise/fitness - just can't get a call back.

I have been a member for many years and really enjoy the improvements they have made to the workout equipment upstairs, including bringing in new equipment.

However, it’s past time to give the showers / changing rooms a complete overhaul. I don’t believe they have been refreshed / painted / regrouted once since the facility opened.

To those that have complained about the service absolutely right. It's almost like you're doing them a favor to pay your money. The facility is not what managed well nor are the employees trying to well. The filters in the pool area are black it appears they haven't been cleaned and who knows how long. Speaking of the polls it has become 24/7 swimming lessons or High School swim team. There are specific hours for the lessons posted and I believe they are 3 to 7 Monday through Friday. I'm frequently there at noon and somebody's giving a swimming lesson and when you only have four lanes and obviously narrows possibilities and then you have to share which is a very difficult thing to do the people who give the swimming lessons having at me are independent and pretty much schedule and do what they want. The manager of the aquatics is referred to informally as 'Mr do nothing'. That is very apt. I've complained several times about the schedule not being followed in he doesn't have any real answer. Keep in mind that though this is northwestern medicines name on the building a company called power wellness manages it. Their pay is based on profitability. Therefore they are going to do the absolute minimum in terms of maintenance they're going to encourage as many swimming lessons as possible at all hours in order to maximize profit. And is somebody mentioned that used to be the cheapest game in town now they've raised prices to the point where they're almost lifetime. Lifetime is a far better and far better maintained facility

It’s literally ALWAYS super hot upstairs and that’s WHERE YOU WORKOUT…. They have NO AIR ON UP THERE… I’m always absolutely sweating buckets and I hate it. And it’s soooo outdated there it’s ridiculous. It needs to be renovated soo soo badly. It isn’t even funny! And it is WAY TOO SMALL OF A GYM TO CHARGE $83. WAY TOO SMALL.

All I gotta say is the facility is absolutely gross. The managers can’t manage nothing and if you ask them questions they act like a deer in headlights. Equipment breaks too much and takes way too long for those to be repaired. They treat the staff like garbage and make them clean stuff that I don’t think is right for the equipment they possess . Just overall experience is bad.

My overall criticism of the gym has to be the amount of highschoolers that are in there during prime hours. There are so many younger kids that come with there friends and while some of them do workout, there's a lot that are just either drooling at them selves in the mirror or just taking up so much space/machines by messing with there buddies. They bring there big backpacks or duffle bags and lay them on the floor just taking up more space that could be used. Not to mention the kids that are vaping on the workout floor. There is just a lot of gym etiquette that is missing. And its not even just high school kids. There are kids that are unsupervised that are not even in HS and they will be in here causing a disruption to the people that are there to get there work done. I'm not sure as to what the gym could do to fix this issue however if it doesn't get better then I'm out. Nothing worse than showing up ready to workout and not being able to complete your full intended workout due to arrogant teenagers.

My next issue with this gym is I feel the staff could be doing a little more to fix and tighty up some of the equipment instead of just standing there. Not that they should have to pick up after other people but it would definitely help the gym be more organized.

My only other complaint of this gym has to be the disgusting carpet that's on the workout floor and in the locker rooms. There floors are obviously very dated and I would like to see them make some renovations to that in the future. I think it would serve this place very well.

Overall I think the actual gym is very nice. I love the new equipment they added. Very needed as some of there previous stuff was incredibly dated. I think there are still a ton of machines that could be added but hopefully that'll be in the future as well. Its nice to see a gym actual improve and add new things. Makes me happy as a member and makes me feel like my monthly dues are being used positively.

There's a few things I think should be added to the gym immediately.
1. Some plate trees would help a ton. I see a ton of the new plates laying around all over the place due to the racks on the machine being full. I think the plate trees would help a ton.
2. There needs to be some sort of label on the machines to identify which weight plate goes where when reracking. Nothing worse than the plate you need being underneath 5 other miscellaneous plates that shouldn't be there. Some simple stickers on the end of the rack I think would help.
3. Some labels on the dumbbell rack to help put the dumbbells away correctly.
4. Hopefully all the new equipment will stay maintained. You could tell a lot of there old equipment needed some fixes or just could of been maintained better.

Wow this place has gone downhill at warp speed.
Tried to cancel today and they said I had to come into the gym to cancel my membership. What in the world?!?!

Edit: it seems new law in 2025 requires them to let you cancel via email. Despite this the person I spoke with on the phone still told me it’s an in person requirement.

They closed the Crystal Lake facility, which people constantly complain about, then after moving everyone’s membership to Huntley they raise prices repeatedly. If you’re going to raise the membership cost perhaps that’s a way you could keep Crystal Lake open?
This place is constantly full of teenagers on their phones sitting on machines and not using the equipment. This is a common complaint from others.
They frequently have events at the hospital that take up all the parking. They send emails out ahead to notify everyone. It’s one thing to plan a workout around hours the gym is open but it’s completely ridiculous to also have to plan around these events.
Everyone that’s ever been to a gym knows right after New Years the place gets packed. Management here decided that’s the best time to replace equipment and make some machines out of service. Worst timing.
This place is awful. The Crystal Lake location was dynamite. Northwestern closing that was the writing on the wall to find a new gym. Stuff just gets worse and worse

I love this place! I feel for the amount of people who go to this gym, which is a lot, that they keep it clean and running smoothly. Everyone in membership is amazing and kind and helpful. Katie, Jim, Denise, they are all wonderful. Four total pools to enjoy. That includes the outdoor pool, but off season you have a choice of 3 great pools. The ladies steam room is like going to a spa. So good for your skin and relaxing after a long day of work. They offer tons of classes all different kinds. I just absolutely love this gym and feel like it really has a lot to offer. Excited to check out the new equipment in 2025.

Horrible experience. Was told at sign up I can put my membership on hold at any time or cancel at any time. When I tried to hold my membership, I went in well before it hit my credit card, but was told the way they process it, that it would still process the following month but that when I re-activated, I would get a free month. Well, I decided to cancel in that time frame. I called and they said I could cancel and then two months later, I noticed a charge on my account. When I went in to get my money back, they said not only would they not give me my money back for the month I canceled in advance but they also would not reimburse the most recent charge bc the lady I spoke to wrote in the computer I wanted to continue my membership, despite me telling her otherwise. And on top of that, they are charging me for next month bc they need 30 days notice. I called them two months ago to cancel and bc that lady did not cancel or tell me I had to come in to cancel, I’m being charged 3 extra months. This is the worst way I can possibly think to treat customers. I’d rather pay more in my monthly charge than feel like I’m being swindled because of “processes” that aren’t being communicated and are in place to only ever benefit to the health center and screw the member. Hopefully nobody ever gets injured and can’t use the facility bc they’ll have to pay for that month no matter what. Very disappointing.

Jim in membership services was rude , crude and unprofessional. I went there upset and after speaking to Jim I was twice as upset. He did nothing to help me so I cancelled my membership. You never kick someone when they are already down Jim. Nothing worse! Keep in mind, They tell you when you start there's no contract and you can quit when you want. Not true, Jim still charged me for another month because I didn't give him 30 days notice. Money over mankind at Northwestern Medicine Health Fitness.

This health club went down hill after North Western took over. They removed family swim from inside pools blaming it on covid LOL ITS BEEN OVER FOR 3 YEARS, NEED TO COME UP WITH BETTER EXCUSE LIKE... its because YOU cannot charge for an extra pool pass like outside. Only worried about charging extra fees for what we already pay for. They are also catering to the people from Del Webb Sun City that dont like kids! Plus something is always broken and out of date.
Save your money go somewhere else!!! The manager Jim cannot answer a simple question as to why they cancelled family swim, saying it was their policy. Big water slide must have been put in the older people from Del Web. Go to Advocate Fitness in Barrington they are kid friendly!!

This place is not well managed. The cleanliness is hit and miss. Staff is often not helpful -- front desk person is often reading or talking to people and unaware of members coming and going. I know people who walk right by the desk without a membership. The pool water is not ph balanced, so skin issues are common. The leisure pool is divided into lanes and therefore activity is limited. The guy in the poolside office is 100% unconcerned with real issues like the constant human skin oil bathtub ring around the hottub and therapy pools. Management has promised numerous time to keep on top of that. We've decided the cost isn't worth the problems.

Everyone here is enthusiastic- maybe that's the endorphins! Nice layout, great amenities. Membership services was quick to get back to me to get setup and answer all my questions. I'm a "fluffy" girl who knows my way around a gym, but if I don't know how to use something, I never feel embarrassed to ask the many personal trainers around how to use the equipment. I downloaded the app to see the class schedules and that's user friendly too! Haven't made my way to the pool yet, but the stream room and the sauna are a good way to unwind after a good sweat!

I spoke with Jim on tuesday, and set up a time to go see the facility on wednesday. When I arrived I was greeted by Denise, Jim had told her I would be there and because I was a former crystal lake member they waived the membership fee. Denise was awesome and professional. When reading the reviews people had stated that you have to sign a contract for 1 year. Well that is false information as you can go month to month. When reading the reviews they state the locker room is not nice, the showers moldy. All of this is in incorrect. The place is clean the pools are nice the staff is friendly so I joined immediately and took my first swim and steam there and could not be happier. I really wonder why people post things on reviews that are incorrect, I am glad I went there myself and hope if your looking for a place that is nice and is 72 per month that would be my recommendation!

I joined CL location as it was on way home from work and it was a nice place. Then we were told CL closing in December and told we could all reroute to huntley. Really?? Not a possibility as I'm then going away from home, so my husband and I decided to go on the weekend.
So first off their app is so far off by saying it was always 22% capacity both times AND both times the place is packed!! The women's steam room was out of order, go to the hot tub which holds probably 4 people,, which also backs into the arthritic pool. Just not my style. The pool isn't huge but enough people were in it that I turned away.
Now let's talk about the weights area which is on the second floor, which is not a lot of room by the way. A couple machines out of order. The worse thing about going into Huntley, and I think I can speak for most adults. The high schoolers that come in and flirt with each other, sit on the machines on their phone, throw their water bottles, a couple were so obnoxious. I thought to myself... what kind of gym is this?? Everyone spoke so highly of this place and everyone said huntley was bigger.
I don't think huntley is bigger or better than crystal lake at all!!
At least I will say crystal lake health bridge had a way better lay out, their hot tub was huge, the arthritic pool was totally separate and the pool was fair. Was the steam room and sauna out of order at times? Yes and it was aggravating!! The hot tub was out for a bit. It must be a general thing with Healthbridge. As centegra Health bridge it was originally meant for their employees, not a community hub. The huntley location reminds me of a pick up joint, I expected a better class of respecting and upstanding individuals.

I just joined this gym 4 weeks ago and I don’t see myself being a member for long. This place feels like a park district gym that should cost $30 a month. The machines and equipment are so old and janky. There are currently about 10 machines in the cardio section that are out of order. The channel buttons don’t work on some of the treadmills. It’s 2023 and they use the lockers where you have to stick a card in it and lock with a key and carry it around with you! They allow kids 12+ in the gym so there are a bunch of teenagers taking up the space. When I attempted to work out with some privacy in the group fitness room, some kids came in and were throwing around the exercise balls and being obnoxious. The locker room floor is always filthy. Lastly, I thought the “occupancy” feature on the app would be nice to use to see how busy the gym is before going, but it always says 15% every single time I check it which I know is inaccurate. Just a really bad experience here so far.

I am one of the folks who got stuck going to NM's Huntley fitness center after, chasing the almighty dollar, Northwestern Medicine shuttered the Crystal Lake facility leaving thousands of community members out in the cold without access to services utterly unique to the city several of which are not even offered in Huntley. Members received many emails bragging about the "enhanced experience" of the Huntley facility. Let's see how it stacks up.

Do you like graffiti? If so, check out the men's sauna where you'll find the walls and ceiling covered in it. Hope you don't mind dirty and possibly moldy ceilings, because if you look up in the locker room that's what you'll find. In the showers you'll enjoy rusty ceiling hardware, showers that can take up to two minutes to warm up, with showerheads so caked with minerals half of them don't work correctly. If you are handicapped you'll find the accessible shower has no showerhead on it. Hasn't had one for at least a month.

Speaking of the locker rooms, when you get to the men's locker room you'll have to find a locker whose key hasn't been kicked out while still in the lock because this particular facility was built with physical keys instead of digital locks like the Crystal Lake center or built in combination locks like other high end gyms. You'll also get to enjoy the local high school sports kids running around dropping some of the most insanely misogynistic comments I've heard in a gym ever, period.

Looking to make a reservation for a pool lane so that you can be sure to get in a swim when you're not at work? Too bad - NM has terminated the public reservation system entirely for swim lanes, so you just better hope you can get a lane or you are SOL. While the lanes are not reservable by the public, you will find that they are reserved for hours at a time by the local school teams in the afternoons and during those times unavailable to other members. The lanes are insanely busy because of all the swimmers from Crystal Lake who lost their home gym and lack of other publicly available pools in the area. If you enjoy taking a nice relaxing time in a hot tub, think again - the hot tub here is just a lukewarm pool with jets.

If you need child care, the Huntley Health and Fitness Center has a child care center! Problem is, NM is too cheap to pay what is required to hire child care these days, so they leave it closed and claim it's due to "health" even though nearly no one on staff even bothers to wear masks anymore.

At least you can get some good weight lifting done in the free weight area! Unless you need to do that after work, when you're competing (again) with the local high school sports team kids who camp all the racks benches and machines sometimes three to a piece making it nearly impossible to actually accomplish a workout.

The cherry on top is that when employees at Crystal Lake applied for unemployment after having their jobs terminated with no transfer opportunities, Northwestern Medicine filed disputes with IDES claiming that all the employees who lost their jobs had voluntarily quit.

Northwestern deciding to close the CL location and keep this one open is so greedy. An obvious push to just bring attention to their hospital at the expense of Crystal Lake residents. It used to cost $10-$20 a month for employee memberships when Centegra was in charge. Northwestern takes over and it goes up to $70 a month, and now they close the CL location? Sad and greedy.

Overall it's a nice place between the pool, the classes, the rooms available, and more. I was just disappointed that since it opened as Centegra Health Bridge in 2016, it seems like they haven't replaced or upgraded any of the workout equipment. Unfortunately it seems like a place that's left open and running because it brings money in without investing money into the place, especially considering its $70 for an account and $40 to add an additional person per month.

Way way unprofessional. Management never answers the phone or returns our calls. The inside pool for 3 to 6 years old is close. Must be 12 years or older to be there. What a joke, they should have life guards on duty for the inside pool. Change the policy. If parents are present. They should be responsible for taking care of our kids. I don’t think a 12 year old will be using a little kids pool. What a waste of pool time for little kids who are cold. The outside pool has 8 lifeguards on duty on a cold rainy day and the inside pool has 0. Corporate should take a closer look at this fitness center and their policies. I really like this gym but I have the dumb policies and management not caring about what “we” the members need.

Ever want to be charged for a service you didn’t (and can’t) use during a global pandemic? This is the place for you! When asking for clarification, expect them to not care that they sent notifications to an obsolete address and then have Deborah Kerr, Member Services Manager, say she called twice...but when called out on it she says she was dialing the wrong area code. Makes perfect sense. What was once an asset to the community will be an obsolete eyesore sooner than later with the way they treat customers and members.

I am stationed in Florida so I was up here visiting family for the holiday. I wanted to find a gym near by to workout at for a week. I called and was told that they are no longer doing guest passes or free trials. That is understandable and I assumed it might be an issue due to Covid-19 restrictions. What annoyed me, was they said they could only sign me up for a month membership because they weren’t doing trials or guest passes due to Covid. So it really isn’t a Covid thing, it’s a money thing. I would have been willing to pay a smaller fee for the short time I was home for. Either way, I would have been inside using the facility, so it makes absolutely no sense why they are only accepting at least a month membership. Go to AnyTime Fitness, they had no issue giving me a weeks trial for a small fee.

My wife and I have been stuck paying for a membership here we very seldom use due to health issues. We have been member for 12 years but they would not let us out of our contract. Plus when we do go the place is not as clean as used to be! It seems everything they do there now is about how they can cut cost and cheapen the place. But that didn't stop them from recently raising the membership fee! We are gone as soon as our contract is up in January!

No one knows what they’re doing. Have to run around talking to multiple people to schedule a birthday party. The day comes and no one knows what we’re talking about even though we’ve paid for it on top of our membership. The weight room is terrible. The park district has more than they do for a lower price. We went to cancel, got the run around for a week, finally someone told us to come in and sign a form, why I have no idea. This should be something that can be done online. We finally cancelled, then they charged us again. Then told us “oh you need to cancel with 30 days notice”. That’s after the weeks we were given the run around with no one returning phone calls for the request to cancel. The people that run this place are thieves!

Come on guys...I pay a lot of money to workout here and there are 4 leg related machines down with broken cables. I mean seriously, overnight the damn things in and get them fixed.
What’s it going to be now a month until they are working? Now I have to go to the Park District gym and work my legs. This is seriously a shame.

The level of cleanliness varies from day to day. Equipment isn’t fixed on a timely manner. They need more yoga classes in the Huntley location But on a positive note, Lorrie and Pam are EXCELLENT yoga teachers. Please give them more classes in Huntley!

3 treadmills didn't work and the staff didn't even know - took a disgruntled client that was already having a tough time getting there, to alert them to the lack of 2 treadmills even powering up and another with no sound and horrible picture on the screen......this is NOT the first time we have experienced these troubles....

Very disappointed to learn that you cannot bring a child to swim with you, except for very limited weekend hours.. which happen to be working hours for me. Not family friendly but very senior accommodating.

Been a member for 6 years and have grown to be severely dissatisfied and will not be renewing membership. Most recently had multiple "trainers" barge into the area where I am working out and take over that area to get one of their clients in. 2 blatantly ignored me and/or my book and water bottle and started using that piece of equipment I was using. Once done they never even had the courtesy to return the area how I had it. If you are a serious weight lifter do not go here.

Terrible customer service and policy terms! I called to remove my son from family account due to him getting married and moving with his military wife overseas in Japan. I was rudely told that I needed to "provide proof." Keep in mind that I wasn't calling to cancel my main account, which still has 4 members. When I brought in required proof, I mentioned to Denise how troubling this was to me and you could feel her indifference as she recited policy. When I asked what I needed to do to cancel entire policy (because she was so rude) she pointed out that I recently added my daughter (who came home from college) and added another year to my contract term and therefore cannot cancel without severe penalties. All of this bad will created over their rude adherence to policy. All someone needed to do was care just a little bit, or even just attempt to see my point. Apparently that is too much to ask for in this day and age.

I have nothing against the actual facility. Its nice, but could use more machines, whatever. However, I am very frustrated with the service. This place is basically forcing me to pay for a membership a haven't used in months. I have been trying to cancel my membership for almost a year now, and there's always something! The staff needs to communicate with it's members better, because my membership is about to be extended for yet another 6 months without me realizing it. What kind of business wants to keep taking money from someone who doesn't want their services? Why such a tight grip? Let me go!

Discriminatory with regards to lap pool usage. No easy entrance (steps) into lap pool, so apparently, if you are an adult with arthritis you are not supposed to be swimming laps. Only entrance in and out of lap pool is to pull yourself up stair slots set into side of pool, or the handicapped lift. Difficult (or impossible) for anyone not really handicapped but who has arthritis or weak legs. Basically, you're stuck using only the therapy pool, or family pool (full of kids and water slide). Great pool facility for families with kids, obviously. And the surrounding area is full of young families so I suppose this club is fitting for where it's located. However, call me stupid, but I think the idea of a health club is to provide accessible health enhanced facilities to all.

I love this place, its a bargain. Great pool, indoor track almost 220 yards, great spin classes and a subway. There are more good things, but I am just to lazy to write more.

Wasn't impressed. Nothing exciting for the older children under 12 who don't want to be trapped in the toddler care area and even the 11 yr olds are banned from walking with a parent on the track. The "hot tub" is only warm as it is only a cove inside the warm pool. VERY limited inside hours for toddlers during the school year (NONE during the daytime during week). The outside pool charges $10 for TWO YR OLDS (we all know they don't last long in the sun) even with the entire rest of the family holding year memberships that include pool. This place is ideal for the elderly.... not family friendly. We are returning to Lifetime where we feel welcome.
