I was looking for a gym on Chicago and OTF in Wicker Park was an easy choice. Close to home, challenging workouts, room to progress, great vibe and an amazing staff. After my first class with Kam, I knew right away I’d be coming back.

Wicker Park Chicago OTF is great, friendly and an easy way to spend some calories. Hint hint, pick up heavy weights.

In 1-hour I gain a full-body heart pumping powerful workout that creates room for a more personalized experience when I can choose my own base, push, and all out and in a group setting. As someone who likes to be efficient and productive these work outs are effective and efficient. The workout classes boost my metabolism which is helpful for my intuitive eating (bad habits), burn fat (just a little more to go!) and calories (hello salty and sweet snacks), build strength (oh hi there muscles) and confidence, and improve my overall fitness. I also get to make friends and maybe some buyer/seller/renter clients too.

Love OTF! I have been a member here at the Wicker Park studio since 2017 (6 years!) and the studio now is better than ever! Amazing coaches and team! They make me feel like an athlete. The workouts are structured so that you can easily figure out how to challenge yourself (and get a push from your coach if you need it). Takes all the guess work out of exercising.

Love the workout and the studio, staff, etc. I like the coached workout, differing templates and format that makes me push myself more than I would on my own. I used to invest a lot of money in a personal trainer or go to mediocre group fitness classes. OTF provides the best of all worlds and a great workout for the body AND mind. I have completely changed my body shape, strength and commitment to working out. I have recommended OTF to many, and will continue to be a champion.

It really is the best 1 hour workout. I love the intensity of the workout and how it's always different each time I go in. The staff is super friendly and the coaches are great. I look forward to workouts with Alex because he brings a great energy to every class, but all the coaches have been awesome. I joined two months ago during Covid and they've been on top of distancing and sanitizing everything really well. The gym feels very safe and clean. I can't tell if this is because of Covid or not, but I haven't felt a community vibe there. People come in, do their workout and go home. I wish there was a little more interaction or "introduce yourself to your neighbor" kind of thing at the start of the workout to bring people together more, but maybe that's just me.

I signed up for a free class with a friend days in advance. They told me to bring a water bottle and mask and to fill out the online waiver form. I drove there, paid for 2 hour parking, and arrived 17 minutes early. The girl at the desk was extremely rude and said β€œoh sorry you won’t be able to participate unfortunately. You have to arrive 30 minutes early if it’s your first class. They didn’t tell you ?!?? Sorry about that.” (And then walked off). The girl I booked the class with over the phone NEVER told me that. What a waste of my time. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

This studio is by far the worst studio I’ve been to. Almost everyone at the front desk has an attitude. They change Orange 60 classes to single group classes without letting customers know before hand (OTF needs to add an option to notify customers via the app). They make you waste time if you show up and there’s no bikes available. Not because the class is full, but because they decide to change it to a single group class, consequently reducing the bike spots from 4 to 2 spots. And on top of that they want to charge you $15 for canceling or rescheduling for a later time, even though its they’re fault you can’t participate in that class. I’ve been to OTF studios in 4 different cities and this is the first one I encounter with this problems. Not to say I’ve been a member for almost 3 years. They act like they’re doing you a favor.

Time to find another OTF studio. It’s sad because most of the coaches I’ve taken classes with at this studio were good and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the front desk is not as good with customer service.

Great place! The trainers care about what matters to you. About your health and body. I was very nervous at first because I have not exercised in years. I am 56 years old and I kept watching the younger people working out hard. I thought I would not be able to do it, but the trainers stuck by me. They knew what work out and how much I needed. This is home away from home now. Thanks Orangetheory!

Awful customer service, the 2 women staffing this location treated me poorly and with no empathy as a first time visitor who was looking to join. They were cold, rude, unhelpful, unapologetic, and insincere. I left and signed up at a different Chicago location the following day. I made sure the location I signed up at was not owned and run by the same person as the Wicker Park location. I have to commute much further to go to my studio but it’s worth I because I couldn’t fathom supporting the Wicker Park location and the rude staff.

Not shockingly, since joining I’ve met many instructors, franchise owners, and members who have also had horrible experiences with the staff and customer service at the Wicker Park location. There appears to be a trend.

I just received a call from A staff member Wicker Park location in regards to any questions I may have after I sign up from a fb link. I felt a bit of insult after tell her the area I live in her in Chicago she didn’t seem interested in me signing up but rather I look for another location to seek membership SMH well since I don’t live in a community that has one like Wicker Park I didn’t seem bothered to drive to the location of my choice that is why I choose Wicker Park. CAUTION: PLEASE READ BEFORE ATTENDING A CLASS--SAFETY FIRST: Absolutely no regard for well-being and safety. The worst fitness experience of my life--if I could give 0 stars, I would. I attended one of their free classes to "try it out" as a possible new cardio option for me about 6 or 8 weeks ago and this free class is now going to cost me over $10K in hospital bills along with significant physical pain and more than 3 months at minimum without walking properly. As I am writing this, I am lying in bed, as I cannot walk due to my injury.

I asked the front desk lady (I think she may have been a manager) if we would be stretching after a warm up and the front desk lady said no because there wasn't enough time for this. She said I could stretch for the next 5 minutes in between the class I would be taking and the current class. This made me weary to continue as I've learned to always stretch after a warm up, but in this case I would not be able to. I even mentioned this concern to my friend who I attended with. I should have listened to my gut and not continued. However, whenever I commit to a program, I commit fully. Therefore, I continued.

On a side note, the heart rate monitor they gave me was not working properly, so it was deemed useless during my workout, which is the main purpose of the "orange theory" idea. Within a couple minutes of warming up with a light jog, it said my heart rate was at 118%, followed some minutes later by a very low percentage, and then finally with my name going off the board completely due to the monitor not working.

During the class, we had to move from floor work to the treadmill and then to the rowing machine. Again, trying to be safe, I chose to walk to the treadmill and rowing machines between exercises (which are also very close together leaving not much room to get by, which of course is also not very safe). The instructor then told us not to take time to breathe/rest by walking while transitioning, but to move between areas as quickly as possible. And this is when the injury occurred. When moving from a floor exercise (my body on the floor) I moved as quickly as possible to get to the treadmill. As I did this I heard/felt a big pop in my knee. I knew this couldn't be good, but when you have someone telling everyone to keep going, as an athlete, you just continue going. I hobbled to the treadmill and jogged on a lower setting and finished the class. The instructor checked in on me and I told her what had happened. She was very nice, but of course, this didn't take back what happened. She recommended I ice it when I got home. I did this along with wrapped it and ended up not being able to walk on it for the next 3-4 weeks. After this I started to put more weight on it and it seemed to be getting better. Then last week, I was slowly getting up from a seated position and it popped again. This time it was excruciating pain and I could not move it at all. My boyfriend had to virtually carry me to the Dr.'s office where it was determined by an MRI (couldn't even get an MRI until this week because I couldn't straighten my leg for the first 4 days) that I have a torn and flipped meniscus and will certainly need surgery. Unfortunately, I do not have insurance currently and thus with the surgery and possible PT it will likely be costing me over $10K (mostly upfront costs) and months before I am back to normal.

I am writing this in hopes that others will take caution if they do choose to attend these classes and also hopefully to encourage the instructors and managers to stress more on the importance of safety and take more actions to ensure their classes are run with safety in mind. Staying in the "orange zone" is nearly impossible if you can't even walk.

Awesome and effective workout! I go to OTF 3+ times a week because they make it easy to work out hard (even with traveling because they have locations all over the US you can pop into - but this is the best one by far imo). Prior to OTF I had worked out on an elliptical, treadmill, done spin classes, core classes, pilates and total body conditioning classes. I have replaced most of these options with OTF because:
*combines cardio / strength training in a HIIT type session so you burn lots of calories while building some muscle through light weights and body weight exercises
*trainers show the class how to do each exercise in every class and are all super nice!
*heart rate monitors show me how hard Im working or if I need / can work harder
-I have asthma so this is super important and helpful for me
-nobody is watching anyone else's heart rate monitor - there isn't time for that, lol
*my schedule is hectic so having OTF plan each workout for me so i can just show up is amazing!
*equipment is nice and the gym is always clean too

I have become obsessed with Orangetheory. I originally joined to get into better shape for my wedding and then planned to find a less expensive option after, but once I started, I knew I couldn't go back to a normal workout. It really is the best 1 hour workout and OT advertises that no one workout is ever the same and they truly are different each day. Because each class either focuses on Endurance, Strength, Power, or all 3, each workout is considered a full-body workout, which I much prefer over Shred where certain days of the week focused on Arms and Abs or mostly legs.

One of the big perks for me coming in is that you really can be at any fitness level coming in because these high intensity workout classes can feel pretty daunting to start. At OT you can go out your own pace with walking/power walking, jogging, and running options. There are even cycling and elliptical options. I didn't think I was much of a "runner," and since joining in August I have gone from being a power walker to running the whole time on the treadmill.

Workout studios can seem pretty expensive, but I realized I actually get much more than I pay for. I've worked with a personal trainer in the past where I was paying over $100/week for 2-3 workouts. AT OT, I pay $200/month, take 4-6 classes a week and have seen better results than working with a personal trainer.

I started going to this location a week and a half ago and I have to say that I love everything about it. HIIT is the best way to lose weight and get toned, and I have noticed a difference in only about two weeks of training (since the New Year), coming every day. The front desk staff is friendly and remembered me quickly. They have towels for you to use during your workout and I love how the workouts are tied to your heart rate and you get a Performance Summary immediately following your workout. It's a workout you can definitely do every day as you can go more intense or less depending on how you feel. All of the instructors I have had have been great, my favorite being Sean because I like his music the best (all of the instructors choose their own playlist for the class). You get your first class for free so definitely check this place out!

You've been marketing the hell out of this place for the past several months. Offering "pre-opening rates" on your FB page, even going so far as to put a bunch of orange-painted bikes on the bike racks at North and Damen.

Only question is, when in the hell are you going to actually open? I've gone past your "location" at 1634 W. North Ave several times now, and it's still just an empty storefront, the same as its been for awhile. What's the deal?
