One of the most spacious OTF gyms in Chicago with great and energetic coaches. They provide towels for workouts too and have toiletries in the bathroom. Only downside is you have to pay for street parking.

I was a member at this gym for over two years, spending thousands of dollars on my membership and working out at multiple locations during my time with OTF, only to realize it wasn't the right fit for me. The business operates in a highly transactional manner, often overlooking the human aspect that should be a core element of any service-oriented industry.

At the West Loop location, the quality of staff and instructors varied greatly from day to day. Some days, you encounter friendly staff and great instructors, while other days, the staff can be unfriendly and the instructors dismissive. This location also struggled with maintaining its equipment and facilities—issues like non-functioning soap dispensers, TVs, and treadmills were frequent.

The classes themselves are challenging and follow the typical structure of group fitness classes. Individualized attention is limited, so it's essential to stay mindful of your form to prevent injury. One of the positives is that the classes allow you to push yourself as much (or as little) as you want, depending on your personal fitness level.

However, one of the most significant issues with this location is its lack of flexibility regarding policies. While most clients understand the late/no-show policies, there should be room for exceptions in certain situations. Unfortunately, this location enforces fees without exception, prioritizing adherence to the policy over understanding the circumstances that may cause a missed class. Many members who sign up and pay for memberships are committed to attending their classes, and unexpected situations—such as health issues or emergencies—can arise. A bit of flexibility and courtesy would go a long way, especially for long-term members who may occasionally miss a class due to unforeseen circumstances. Charging late/no-show fees without consideration can drive clients away, and it raises the question: is it really worth enforcing a fee here and there instead of showing understanding and retaining a client?

I also had a particularly negative experience early on that stayed with me throughout my time at OTF. During one of my first workouts, I stepped off the treadmill to the side—something I had seen other members do without issue. Within moments, the instructor approached me and, in a harsh and unfriendly tone, told me, "Don't jump the rails again." I was exhausted from the workout and unsure what he meant, so I asked for clarification. He repeated the same statement in the same tone before walking away. I had no idea what he was referring to but later guessed that he was telling me not to stand on the sides of the treadmill. It was an embarrassing and belittling experience, especially as someone still unfamiliar with OTF’s terminology in the middle of a challenging workout. To make matters worse, I had seen other members do the same thing without any reprimand. This left me with a lasting negative impression of the gym.

Despite these less-than-ideal experiences, I remained a member for over two years. Ultimately, the lackluster customer service made it difficult to justify the expense, so I decided to take my business elsewhere.

If you love orange theory, you have to stop in at this Chicago location!! The coaches here are friendly, engaging, and super knowledgeable. They hold me accountable every workout and keep the classes fun and high energy. I travel a lot and see a visit a lot of studios, this is the BEST one. Shout out to Ally and Kelly for being the best coaches ever 💛

I’ve been to several OTF studios in Chicago and around the country. This is the best studio I’ve been to. From the awesome coaches , great playlists and energy, to the friendly and helpful SA’s this studio goes above and beyond. You will always feel like you had an excellent workout at OTF West Loop!

This is an amazing studio!! Their team of coach’s, the people at the front desk are all great, you always feel welcome. Not to mention the little details like fresh towels at every class.

But the best are their coaches Meredith, Demi and Kelly, they are amazing, their energy, the way they explain each exercise and the motivation they give in each class and of course the music.

Thanks OTF West Loop you’re the best.

This was my first Orange Theory class I’ve ever taken. I was just in town for work.

Demi was our instructor and kicked my butt!! I had so much fun and it was the perfect workout. She helped guide me through the workouts and form correctly. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. Highly recommended! The girl at the front desk was super helpful and had such good energy as well.

They e-mailed me my workout summary after as well, which is a plus.

New customers, don’t bother.

I was excited to try this studio and received a free first class from a friend. Upon showing up 20 minutes early to the class, I was told I could not join unless I paid $30 because I had now “missed” my time to meet with the instructor and sign forms, which was 30 mins early. I had already signed the forms online and said I was fine attending without meeting with an instructor. There was also no instructor to be found to meet with me anyway, and another class was in session. The employee at the desk kept saying “it’s just our policy” and wouldn’t explain anything to me beyond that why I was now being cash grabbed to join the class, that I was early to, that was advertised as free.

I frequent many other studios and gyms throughout the city and never have I been treated anywhere close to this poorly as a new customer. If you’re looking for somewhere that doesn’t waste your time and has good customer service, keep looking.

I have been to many OTFs in the Midwest, and this location is top notch. The staff is on top of things, energetic and always ready to support. Meredith (Coach) is the best. The workouts are challenging, but achievable at multiple levels of fitness (which is one of the strengths of OTF). Highly recommend.

I like that it is both expected and unexpected at the same. I know walking into class it's going to be floor, rower and treadmill, but the fact that it changes each day for what we are doing is great. The coach's are always enthusiastic and supportive, which makes the class fly by. And I love that I can track all my details in real time so I know when I can push harder.

The workouts are intense but you can go at your own pace. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. They remember your name. The instructors are fun. They all have different styles which make the classes even better. They explain all the exercises and if they see you faltering they focus on you until you get it right. I always look forward to my workouts at OTF. Who wouldn't want to end their day with a welcoming smile?

Honestly never attended and never will. This gym is located on the ground floor of a residential building. Despite multiple complaints by multiple residents (and building mgmt), they keep their doors and windows open during classes while their instructors are screaming into a loud speaker system. Residents can hear the instructors screaming things like "three, two, oooooone" at all hours of the day, early morning through the evening. Sometimes this can even be heard when their doors/windows are closed - I can't imagine actually being inside the gym is an enjoyable experience. This business is a nuisance to everyone living within a block of its location.

Even on my worst days, after a workout at OTF I feel rejuvenated, strong and accomplished. The coaches at the west loop location are great - always high energy cheering us on and quick to correct form to eliminate the possibility of injury. I started going because I struggled with keeping a gym routine myself and always preferred high intensity workouts. The workouts are always challenging, but you decide the intensity, which as a novice was a relief. I would recommend the west loop location to anyone. Give yourself a month to get used to the moves and types of workouts and you’ll be hooked.

The workout was tough, but doable for anywhere on the fitness spectrum! The best part is the focus and care the team gave being that it was my first class. My arm monitor wasn’t working properly the beginning of class and Suzzie kept checking on me along with Dana to get it right...we finally got it right! This made the experience that much more enjoyable to be able to trust the instructors and team members during those very nerve wracking and vulnerable first-class jitters. In the end I felt more connected and valued...I knew this is where I needed to be.

I had passed by this fitness center since I live near by also wanna check out the studio. One day I just saw an event hosts by Orangetheory on eventbrite so I registered and also invited my friend come with me. We were excited to check out this fitness center, however, when we arrived the front dest girl told us there is miscommunication so the event is member only, which is not mentioned on their invited email AT ALL!!! And she was being rude by saying they only ordered food for drinks for members only... make it sounds like we are like homeless ppl and here for food and drinks.I had never experienced such poor customer service. And when we ask to talk to their manager the girl said she is the manager, which is the most ridicules part, my friend and I have been to a lot fitness centers in Chicago, we have never experienced rude manners from a staff, do not even mention a manger of a well known studio.
Please stay away from this unprofessional, cold blood and impolite fitness center, their false advertising and fake smile made me sick.

Anyways, there are so many good choice of fitness center with warm heart customer service in this neighbor, you deserve a better place than tOrangetheory Fitness Chicago

I love that I leave feeling empowered. I'm able to push myself and set goals. I enjoy knowing every workout will be different, but I'll still workup a sweat. The front desk staff is always helpful and friendly.
When I started at OTF, I felt so intimidated. There were members who were crushing every class and here I was walking on the treadmill and using baby weights. One of the instructors, Patrick, saw that I was struggling and feeling unmotivated and told me "You aren't competing with everyone else, you're competing with yourself - the old you versus the new you". It really hit home and has been my mantra every time I step into the studio.
I also love Meredith as a coach. She is so motivational and just genuinely has a passion for helping others lead a healthy lifestyle. I never thought I would run another race after destroying my right knee and here I am heading to a 10k this weekend and a half marathon in February. Just like with anything in life, if you put in the work, you will see results.

I’ve been looking for a new fitness center to go to in the city lately and found a Orange Theory event on eventbrite and thought its a great opportunity to check out this center while they invite everyone to celebrate their 2 yrs anniversary together. Upon arrival, the front desk “manager” lady with dark hair told us that this event was for members only and that they have noted on eventbrite that it was for members only. I showed her the event on eventbrite that it did not mention anything about members only and that we drove a long way, kindly asked if we could go in, she said no, members only. She said she changed the event detail at 5pm but I told her the event starts at 6pm, we didn’t receive any kind of notification and that its 6:30 pm now, still doesn’t say members only on eventbrite. The lady said well, if u have driven a long way then there’s no point of you even checking out our center because this is for neighborhood users only. If you do not live within blocks away from our gym, you cannot attend here. Extremely rude attitude. I said you are such a big company, if you made a mistake on your ad, you should honor it. She said “well we are privately owned so no.” And the other girls next to her just starred at us without saying anything which made my friend and I felt extremely uncomfortable . So disappointed at this fitness center. I will never return and they should never treat any customers with false info ( changed detail on eventbrite when it never happened) and with no intend to fix the situation. There are many fitness center in west loop and I am glad I did not pay to be part if their members. Totally agree to all the other 1 star yelp comments regarding to their terrible customer services.

I was so looking forward to joining OTF, but was disappointedly turned away after being 8 minutes late to my first class. I pleaded with the staff since I was having trouble finding a parking spot, but they were unwilling to budge and said it was impossible for them to get me squared away for my first workout. I found that quite astonishing and also had a general feeling that I was unwelcome at that location for some odd reason. I like to workout in a supportive and understanding environment. Unfortunately, I did not get that treatment at this location and will be looking to other workout options.

I am so fortunate to have this fitness studio a mere two blocks away from home. Orange Theory is a very challenging workout that will make you push yourself like you've never pushed yourself before. Every single class you take is different despite having the same staple stations - treadmill, rowing and weights - and you can absolutely see and feel yourself making progress after a few classes. All of the instructors are fantastic - I've taken classes with all of them and there isn't a bad one in the bunch, but I recommend Gene as a top notch instructor with his motivation style and ability to make anyone feel like they're really crushing their workout. The post workout email summary and the tracking they provide that shows you how many calories you've burned in the week, month, and year helps you compete with yourself and always push the boundaries. The facilities are brand new, clean and comfortable.
