Clearly the more neglected gym of the two. Ceilings have panels that have clear water damage that never get replaced, disgusting dirty vents with dust caked so thick they look like they haven’t been cleaned in a decade, who knows whats inside the air ducts and what we are breathing in. The carpets need a full replacement they’re very gross, dirty, and worn. It’s been smelling like pure musty sweat for weeks now mainly on the upper floor. Equipment gets fixed more promptly but I’ve seen things sit for at least a couple weeks broken, much of the equipment is very banged up with cracks in the plastic. They also get “new” equipment but it’s almost all the same stuff that we already had except for a few things. Also plays the worst possible music if I forget my headphones I turn around and go home.

Edit: and they’re charging $20 for a guest pass at this location now according to the sign, it should be $5-$10 for this location, I don’t see why it costs the same as the larger one. But even then the other one should be $20 for the summer and $10-$15 for the colder months.

I’ve been a member for years, and I pay for the full year in advance because they waive membership fee if you do that. But I am considering moving to a different gym because of the truly awful and rancid smells from the men’s locker room, and especially the men’s bathroom area of the locker room. The smell is only an issue at the smaller Peak FITNESS location!

The larger peak Sportsclub doesn’t smell bad, but that one is always super busy and you will wait for popular machines. Also the other members are generally just more rude and inconsiderate than members at the smaller location.

Both Peak locations have automatic scenting control units, like robotic air freshener boxes that work on a timer. I’ve seen them. So why does the smaller East State St location have such an awful odor? Do their scent boxes just not work? Is the management at the smaller peak Fitness skimping on deodorizer to save money?

It gets so bad sometimes that I can smell it in the lobby and stairwell. I mean come on, even the YMCA locker room downtown doesn’t smell this bad!

Love Peak Fitness. I’ve been coming here since I moved to Rockford years ago. From singlehood, to wedding bod, to now motherhood; Peak has been there! I HAVE to shoutout the staff who are all so friendly. Now leaving my six month old with the childcare is leveling up my appreciation. Older woman with the glasses that works at the front desk gave me the most unpleasant visit I ever had at all peak locations. I been going here 5+ years and I usually wouldn’t even go this far as to make a review. But coming in and hearing her make racist remarks as well as uncalled for comments. Also made some pretty deceitful comments about me on my way out today. I go about my day peacefully and positively and she definitely took the brightness out of my day. But that is definitely the rudest person I came across at peak.

I used to be a member here. I enjoyed while as a member before leaving due to the cost and everytime i went to play basketball the court was always packed. Whats even worse is that when my buddies who still go there tell me to join em i cant even pay my way in. I tried on 2 separate occasions, Somethings off here. The State street facility is great. Mike the manager is super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Please train your childcare staff! I cannot work out for more than 20 minutes without them coming to tell me my 1 year old isn’t happy. Today I was asked what he likes to watch on tv….he’s a baby! He’s not going to sit in front of a tv and be quiet. There’s multiple teenagers in there standing around half the time. Any adults in charge?! Anyone who has experience with children who knows how to keep a baby happy for an hour? The membership won’t be worth it if I can’t use the childcare. And good luck finding an actual manager….super annoying. Everything else is great, but the kid zone staff is awful!

I went to cancel my membership & the guy told me it would probably not charge me for may withdrawal. May comes around & I get charged, I go In to talk to the manager & he was very rude & asked if I signed without reading the paper. You have to leave a two week notice that you’re leaving like it’s a job? No thanks. Overall, the machines suck & are not clean. The workers are rude. I will never be here again I’ll stick w any other gym. Save a couple of bucks & go to Planet Fitness where the machines are actually clean

Very nice place to workout.
Something for everyone and every body type. Only complaint is I wish it was more budget friendly. Being single is hard at $60 a month plus any add one. It’s nice classes are included in price but does not do the nighttime exerciser any good. Also at night I can’t swim or use recumbent pool. Should be able to sign a waiver to assume responsibility of no life guard or have a separate fee for evening users.

I’m currently living in Rockford temporarily for work and I needed to find a gym. Signing up at peak fitness was a no-brainer. They have everything you need as far as cardio equipment goes. Treadmills, stair masters, and rowers etc. They have over 30 pieces of hammer strength equipment and life fitness machines. Plenty of squat racks, free weights, A basketball court, and a sauna. For the price it’s a steal.

No effort is put into cleaning. The water fountain has at least two different types of algae/mold growing on it. That doesn't happen overnight.

Facility was always nice and clean with plenty of options for fitness. However, the staff was usually rude, giving the impression that they had better things to do than talk to a paying customer. I dug all around the app to learn how to cancel my membership and couldn't find any information or options, so I called. The lady was short with me while telling me I had to go in or email. I told her I moved, so it would have to be email. She gave me the email address and hung up. Terrible phone etiquette. I'm glad my money won't be going to this business anymore.

I have made several calls dating back to April when this pandemic started to cancel my membership, I left messages and never received a call back. Just called again and was told I have to come in person to cancel, well despite CDC guidelines, guess I have to go. Idk about the location on North perryville, but the state Street location sinks when u walk in. There is one water fountain available on the first floor, which is pretty filthy with hard, calcified water stains. There are no recycling bins. The equipment is good and it's never packed so u work out as you like. Plenty of classes available too.

I've been a member of this gym for years. They have everything you need! I prefer the one on State Street. It's more of an easy going atmosphere. The one of Perryville is huge and more "hardcore." The daycare at the second location also isn't ideal for smaller children. It's too big and the older kids tend to run the show.
