Peak Sports Club has been an incredible place to train! I’ve achieved new personal records in weightlifting and successfully trained here for my Half Ironman 70.3. Along the way, I’ve made great friends and met so many people who have been truly inspirational to my fitness journey. The employees and staff are always friendly and welcoming to new members and guests. Highly recommend this gym to anyone serious about improving their health and fitness!

I did a free sample class. Alisha looked me up and down when I first walked in, like I’m in the wrong place. (I use a walker.) She approached me before class. I told her I had done similar classes before and would self modify. She agreed. During the class, someone approached me while I was working out, and led me out of the room with no discussion. There was no attempt to correct my form. I obviously got kicked out of the class for not looking the way Miss Yoga Pants wants people to look in her class. The manager didn’t respond to my complaint. I ended my membership rather than sue for discrimination. But the snobs are very obvious.

My husband was a member here for years and we had to cancel a couple months ago for personal issues. We wanted to restart our membership and they wanted to recharge the joiner fee. They said it didn’t matter that we were 5+ year members and there was nothing they could do about waiving the joiner fee. We asked to speak to a manager and for days we waited for a response but kept being told the manager wasn’t available. We never were allowed to speak to the manager ourselves but were told that he said no. Obviously this establishment doesn’t care about its long term members.

Completely ridiculous way to treat long term customers here. I was a member here for 5 years, which means I spent thousands of dollars here. Mark was a great owner shouldn’t have sold. Had to cancel membership a couple months ago due to personal and family issues and they do not care I was a member here for all those years and want to make me pay the full joiner fee again. I would figure make they can figure something out since I was a long term member here, but no they do not care. Not a good a way to treat people and a nice way to lose customers so thank you peak sports club for that. As another local business owner I would make sure I take care of my long term customers so these are not very good business tactics.

Best gym in Rockford in my opinion! Great options for classes, friendly staff and knowledgeable personal trainers. I have been coming to this gym for over 10 years and it's a great place to be. The pool in the summer is awesome if you have kids or just want to relax on the weekends. They have recently added new machines and are on the right track to be a fully updated facility. Would recommend 10/10.

Adults and serious lifters beware!!! This place is an after school social hangout for every kid in the stateline area. It’s everything you can expect from a poorly managed commercial gym and much more! Bodybuilders/powerlifters, If you are trying to work a specific program where you need a particular piece of equipment in a set order you can forget it do to high school kids in groups 5 to 6 deep on a single piece of equipment playing with each other’s hair and scrolling social media. You will be thrilled with multiple pieces of equipment being broke for weeks at a time. Broke by misuse and abuse by the vast number of children that occupy this shared space. If you enjoy frustration and wasting your time all while choking on the smell of cheap cologne that fills the air from the horde of prepubescent unmonitored youth then good news this is the gym for you!

Extremely expensive for what you get. What do you get? Hoards of teenage and younger children playing on equipment, wrestling in the weight room, equipment that can be broken for weeks on end, gym goers who leave weight on everything. I thought this was a gym but turns out it is more like Chuck E Cheese. When I say hoards of teenagers, there are groups of 5+ teenagers that will be around equipment with one sitting on the equipment and the rest playing with their hair or pushing each other around or high fiving and acting like... well teenagers. None of them are actually using the equipment or when they do they slam the equipment and play on it as if it is a jungle gym. This leads to broken equipment. We pay nearly $200 a month in fees and we can't even get through a work out. Why are there not rules that children under 18 cannot come in without an adult? Truly unsure how even their insurance allows this as it is a huge liability. I just want to be able to come in and train, but the over abundance of actual children in the weight area and machines ruins it.

Been going here for 10 years at this point. Post covid, there's a new owner. The gym is still the best in town but the new owner runs promo's quarterly which brings influxes of new people. With this comes revolving members, new hoardes of people, new families. The amount of people trying to lift weights in the evening makes it pretty hard to get through a workout in a timely fashion. There will be groups of guys using one or multiple machines for over 40 minutes. As well, the new families are bringing their kids to the gym, and not supervising them. Have had many times where packs of kids will run through the locker room, open and close the sauna or steam doors just to not come in or just to hold it open to see who's in there. They added a new floor workout area but it's never kept up with. People that use it just leave the equipment they used everywhere. Miss the days where you could efficient workout without battling for space, equipment or groups of people.

Can’t work out without membership. I was a member for years, and moved away. I always come back and pay $20 a work out while visiting my family. I was turned away at the desk and was told they didn’t want my business.

I called peak fitness down the road and they said they offer $20 workout passes. I guess I’ll just go there? Seems like management isn’t clearly explaining their policies to their staff.

Edit After Peaks Response: Their staff was wonderful, and handled the situation very respectfully. The 1 star represents managements decision to not allow someone to pay to workout there. Let alone after being a customer for years before moving away.

Member comfort is not a high priority. 2x I was told to leave locker room while still in the showering process (with less than 5 min notice) because they had male workers coming in. Both times was during morning busy time at the gym. On one occasion actually had to move to family locker while still wrapped in a towel as they let the workers in before I had the oppty to fully dress. Management gave the cursory apology with a "have a nice day" upon departure.

Great family gym. I've been going here for about 5 years. They have pretty much anything you would need.
A weight area, squat racks, Pull up bars, and different kinds of machines. There's a Treadmill area and they have a women only area. There's also indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub, saunas, and probably the best daycare I've ever used. They actually interact with your children and my daughter usually has alot of fun.
It does get very busy during peak time especially 5 to 7pm on weekdays so your best bet is early morning and late nights.
All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. I've had nothing but positive experiences here.
I highly recommend if you're looking for a gym to join.

Love this gym, I have been coming for at least 17 years when they only had the original one on State St. The class instructors are amazing and there are a great variety of classes and times to fit anyone’s schedule. The daycare staff is wonderful and have been amazing with my youngest child who has special needs. My family loves the indoor pool in the winter and the outdoor pool in the summer. My older kids have taken swimming lessons and have learned so much. The swim instructors were very patient and professional and the teacher to student ratio was great. I love that they offer the peak plus-it is such a great deal- but because it is becoming more popular, I do hope they add more tanning and red light beds in the future. Overall, I highly recommend Peak Fitness!

This is a great gym and the best in the area. It's usually clean and equipment is working properly. Staff is friendly. And members can even take free taekwondo lessons. The kids area is pretty cool and they have an indoor and an outdoor pool.
The only downside to peak fitness as a company is that they do not offer guest privileges and they are a bit pricey.

First time going since getting the premium membership. My friend and I were planning to go swimming. The tall blonde man asked for his ID. Unfortunately he didn’t have it. He tried to explain he had a membership but the employee ignored him and just grabbed the sign kept pointing at the “no exceptions” which we understand and weren’t going to argue because rules are rules. The fact that he trapped the sign and held it to us saying” no exceptions, no sense of good customer service very unprofessional, he was just flat out rude. This being my first visit to this location was very disappointing might cancel my membership.

Starting over at a new, larger gym can be intimidating, but Drew takes the time to make sure that it won’t be. He’s never too busy to greet you warmly by name or check that you got the most out of your workout while you’re leaving. He’ll take the time to help you track down missing weights / attachments or show you how to use equipment you’re not used to.
Having someone genuinely care about the experience you have makes the membership worth it. He shows that he knows that.

TERRIBLE, i recently took my step daughter to the pool, I was approached by these 2 lifeguards, Zander, and Shane! they were so rude. they told me that I wasn’t allowed in the pool with my daughter because i “exceeded the weight limit” what weight limit?! we are in a indoor pool, WITH CONCRETE FLOORS. they had low red eyes and NO RESPECT FOR ME, MY STEP DAUGHTER, or anybody in that pool. i am so sad, i am so heartbroken.

Had my review deleted. You are not getting what you pay for if you use 2/4 basketball courts to play whiffleball. Every single day without failure there will be old people playing whiffle ball and taking up two of the four courts we pay to use. You have 3 swimming pools and a whole area for PSX but you want to take up the basketball courts with a completely unrelated sport. It’s a joke.

I have very bad experience with peak fitness club in Loves Park. The guy on registration was Cody an Manager name is Drew Kellman. I call in morning and ask if I can come to the club without membership. People said “yes”. My friends came at 4:15 and they let them go without membership because they are Americans. I was came at 5:44 pm. And they said I can’t come inside because it’s the law and they don’t understand what I said. I explain so many times. Even I ask to call manager and speak with him. They wear rejected and talk very badly. Later they call manager and didn’t let me to talk with him. Just ask my name and that’s all. They rejected me all over again. Even I explained that I don’t have for this moment money to buy full membership pass which will be cost me around 160$. I sit and wait my friends and cry for 3 hours because they have key from house and they didn’t have the phone. I never have this experience with discrimination ever in USA.

Place is going downhill since new management. Steam room and sauna are gross. Attached is pics of the steam room with exposed wiring and disgusting walls. Machines are hardly cleaned anymore. Sauna temp needs to be regulated. It’s often at 230f because the control panel is exposed and people don’t know what they are doing. Way too hot.

Yoga, BodyFlow (mix of Tai Chi, Yoga, and Pilates), TRX, Swimming, and other classes included in the membership are fantastic. I'm able to attend all of the above 5 days minimum out of the week without overcrowded studios.

Peak is a clean and staffed facility with personable instructors who make sure you're safe with exercises. I can only attest to these classes but $100/mo for a couple's plan is splendid. If you can afford to go to this gym, do it, as it is the best in Rockford for well rounded fitness.

I like the women's workout section and that they are open 24/7. What I don't like about the gym is that the staff and clients are unfriendly and stuck up, the gym is dirty and the saunas are not hot. It's difficult being a member here after going to Health Bridge Fitness Center in Huntley and Crystal Lake for 14 years. Peak doesn't compare on any level.
