I'm a Black Card member who's been in gyms 20+ years without a single problem...until recently. Let me start by saying that I support Planet's business model and I've been very grateful to use my black card at locations all over the country, so please don't let this discourage you from joining other Planet Fitness locations. As some of the other reviews have mentioned, the staff but more specifically the management at this location seems to pick and choose customers to start a vendetta with. I've been approached by management twice, several months apart, while stretching on the floor in the stretching area. I always grab two mats, find a corner and sit down to do a series of stretches. Apparently this is a major problem. I was approached by the manager, told I'm not allowed to do my stretches without wearing closed toed shoes while I'm literally sitting on mats on top of the floormat stretching. Are you supposed to do yoga with shoes on? No, you will hurt yourself. The manager then told me that customers had complained about my small gym bag I literally wedged into the corner next to me. I asked who complained then the manager changed her story and said "Well, it wasn't complaints they were just inquiring about your carrying your bag." I was then escorted out of the gym, but not before another patron paused his workout to talk to me and tell me to "Shake it off. Keep your chin up." I felt humiliated and made to be a problem by the same person in charge of solving them. I don't know who could have possibly complained because I was there 15 minutes and essentially hiding behind the halfwall in the corner alone. This was the second instance like this. Recently when I inquired about this with a different manager I was told in a snark manner that "There's nothing we can do it's corporate policy." Never have I felt so judged and discriminated against in any gym or Planet Fitness as I have at this Belvidere location on multiple occasions from multiple staff. The only reason this review is two stars instead of one is because most of the employees are nice...just not most of the ones in charge. I highly recommend making the trip to any of Rockford's multiple locations.

Nice, clean place. The only thing I wish they would have is some type of mounted bar in the locker rooms so patrons can store their lock on it when not in use instead of carrying it in and out of the gym. They could post a sign monthly to have all locks taken off for a day so any abandoned locks could be cut off so you dont get unused locks being stored on it. Definitely would be easier than bringing your lock in and out.

Staff is professional and very nice. But I the tanning bed rooms they went from a stool w/ holes to now a metal chair w/ holes. The chair is slanted slightly and everything you set on it slides off the back. It is cold here and understandably so(gym and gets hot) but a cold metal chair(NOT sure if somebody but their naked butt on it) so now I have to scrub this down to, bad enough I have to scrub down tanning beds every time I go(times you can see scum/film) and needs to scrubbed down 2x.

First day ever going none of the workers warned of the need of an Id for guests. Been going for two weeks now and this morning a lady Named Andy ( who had an attitude for no reason) told us we needed to have Id for guest. Which was a surprise since it was the first time anyone had informed me. Even though it was a waste of time and money, we still kept it respectful towards her and politely exit the building. Now I receive this voice mail that I personally see as petty and unprofessional saying and I quote “ If you bring any underage guests again we will downgrade your black card membership to a regular one” Now I sit here and think, first of all nobody says something to me about the Id, and a second after I am getting told that my premium membership is at risk. I see this as highly unprofessional and if I am paying for the premium membership I should of been told the details rather than getting threatened to a downgrade.

It is okay. The membership includes classes which are only available weekdays...not really useful if you work. It is fairly clean. Hours are good. Parking sucks. Machines are plentiful. Staff is friendly. Stay away from the water fountains. By far the grossest water I have ever had.
Expecting a canned reply from owners but no real attempt to address anyones issues. Betting it will be the same reply ... "tell your concerns to staff" who do not have the ability to fix anything ... coming from the owners who do have the ability to fix things.
Reviews are the customers telling PF their concerns. That is exactly what reviews are.
Just an FYI ...I received a survey online and completed it honestly regarding the lack of classes. Said they weren't going to change anything and then asked me if I could give them a better review. What I took from all of this....they don't like honest or negative reviews but have no intent on doing anything to address the issues.
Planet Fitness in Belvidere is not a terrible place but it isn't great either. It's acceptable.

Clean facility and friendly staff. Only recommendation would be to increase dumbells weights from 60lbs to 80lbs. Just saw advertisement on Fox 47 regarding planet fitness and utilizing 75 pound dumbells. Why doesn't the Belvidere planet fitness have these 75 pound dumbells as advertisement states on tv?

Cleaning isn’t their specialty! The pics I’m posting of the changing area. That qtip and mud are on day two. Women’s bathroom is hot and smells horrible.

Update. The mud is still in the changing room. It doesn’t look like they’ve cleaned the bathroom in over a week now! The filthiest PF I’ve ever been to.

Clean and welcoming? There’s been poop on the floor of a bathroom stall for almost two weeks now!! 95% of the time when I am there no one is at the desk!

Went to work out at around 7pm and wanted to watch the chiefs and ravens game at the same time at it was on the #2 tv but I wanted to use other machines so I went to staff and asked them to if they could put it on the #5 tv and he told me he couldn’t do it without his managers approval like WTH lmao it’s already on The #2 tv and he jus repeated the same answer is this a rule or did he jus have something against me

We love Planet Fitness. The facility is amazing. It is the cleanest gym I ever worked out in. There is such a great variety in equipment and I don't think I've ever seen a non-working piece of equipment there. The hours are great and the staff is friendly. The personal trainer (Lewis) is AMAZING. He's helped me reach so many goals I never knew I had! At this point, he is the only reason I go to the gym regularly and really makes the membership worth keeping. Without him, I probably would've canceled my membership from lack of use/motivation.

Very nice club. Much nicer than the $123 I pay a month for my sons tennis club. $23 a month and tanning and massage is included at Planet Fitness! That's a no brainer. Always clean. The only thing I don't like is the tanning and massage check in. You check in on the computer but then you have to ask the staff what room?

Finally a large fitness center in Belvidere. Goodbye "naked old men" at the YMCA. Large enough locker room with nice private showers. Although it can get packed there is still plenty of room and machines to use. Don't come here if you are into heavy weight lifting, grunting, and weight slamming it will not be for you. Now all Belvidere needs in a nice brewery and I won't have to go to Rockford!

Typical gym, plenty of equipment. But it is a place that does not follow its own rules, let alone covid requirements. If you complain to any of their teenage, doe-eyed staff, they stare blankly at you, and tell you Corporate does not want to be "confrontational" about rules like mask wearing, or members cleaning up after they pull their sweaty bodies off a machine. So take your chances if you must - as for me, I'm heading to a gym (won't name it - think "mountain") that actually follows the rules, and is not afraid to enforce them.

They are a super clean gym and have the essentials. Their membership is perfect because I travel a lot and they have locations everywhere. This particular location however is extremely overboard with the face mask policy. In other locations and gyms that I go to, they don’t require you to wear one while working out.

I had just got my membership back last month after canceling due to the covid shut downs. Today I walk and and they are demanding you wear a mask. To work out. Suggestion: have people show their vaccination cards and let them go in about their business. Time to stop punishing everyone for the irresponsible actions of others! Last week my wife and I signed up for the black card. We are extremely happy with this location.
We aren’t ecstatic tho …
They currently and for the past couple months haven’t had a Trainer available for members.
I hope this changes very soon.
The location is calm, clean…
The employees are very nice and attentive to their duties and members.

Very nice gym. Staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of equipment to meet all my workout needs. Best of all...the top membership plan is roughly $25 a month. Gives you access to all amenities, and other training benefits. Highly recommend this club for your fitness needs.

They have a nice guest feature with black membership, so you can bring friends to workout. I am able to bring my buddy, who has powerlifting background to guide and teach me. They do offer trainers to help you, but I prefer mine as he fits my needs better.

This afternoon, (06/25/21) my girlfriend and I signed up memberships for both of us.
We walked into the Belvidere, IL location and were assisted by the associate working the front desk. His name tag said "Ryan." Being a business owner myself, customer service and knowledge are major factors when interacting with patrons and the public. This gentleman was extremely helpful and very professional. I personally will not return here. I would go with my older sister here and when I first started going they had my mom sign a waiver since I am underage. Her signing the waiver allowed me to go with my sister. I went in one day and one of the staff said I had to leave because I am underage but the whole point of my mom signing that waiver was so that I could go in without a guardian. I had never had problems until that day which is why I will not be going again.
