I've been coming to Planet Fitness Fairview Heights off & on for about 6 years.
I would like to recognize Mason, he is the most kind, caring, friendly person I've met since I've been coming. Always upbeat. Always a smile. Even early in the morning.
This is so rare anymore.

Absolutely love this gym—the staff are great, and they always keep the place clean. My experience was great until the manager came up to me and told me Birkenstocks aren’t allowed, even though Crocs are fine. Honestly, that makes no sense. On top of that, after I pointed out that people wear Crocs here, she asked me if I wanted a job at the gym. Not sure what that was about, but it came across as unprofessional. ( Didn’t catch her name, she was wearing a black shirt I’m assuming she’s a manager. ~5’1 white)

Hit or miss if you find a treadmill that is tuned correctly. A lot of them skip a pace and have a loose track. Lately, they have promoters for various supplement companies right when you walk in, which is a turn off. We already pay to be a member, facing salesmen is the last thing I want to see when working out.

I have been using this gym for 1 yr and there have been two instances where after working out, I returned to my vehicle with some sort of “mark” on it. The first time, some sort of plastic washer was strategically placed on my bumper. Yesterday, i came out to my car and a red piece of felt was sticking out of my hood.(stupidly, I pulled it out and dropped it so I didn’t take a pic)(There is no red felt under my hood) There was several men sitting in the parking lot watching with their cars running when I arrived so to me it’s clear something strange is going on in this parking lot specifically because I never see these issues at the Brentwood or Melville location. I spoke to the MOD both times about it and while it was clear to me that they understood the seriousness of what was happening. Nothing was done. The male mgr is very nice, he’s present and he does his job very well. This seems to be an ownership issue. Adding to the fact that you allow teenagers to workout here while the parking lot seems to be a hotbed for traffickers looking out for targets, this is very serious and dangerous.

There are entirely TOO many cardio machines. The gym itself is nice and accommodating some of the staff however clearly don’t give a damn about anything no one knows what’s going on half the time. I went in on the 12th to reinstate my membership and was assured it was active again. Now out of town and guess what’s not active. I had previously cancelled trying to find another cheap gym in the area because their billing system seems a little skewed. Was told my bank was blocking charges but then mysteriously get over charged on my annual fee. Before moving here I NEVER had an issue with my previous gym taking out funds it’s too cheap to even flag an issue. If this weren’t the only reasonable gym in the area I’d go elsewhere

To be completely honest, I have been nothing but happy with planet fitness, regardless of some of the other stuff that they’ve done in the past to other clients that I’ve read about. I’ve always had rather great experience. On the 7th they charged me my annual fee to my debit card and my checking account the same day. I asked for them to refund one of those fees since they should not have charged me twice. They told me they don’t see it on their end and basically tough luck so I had to go to the bank to fight those additional charges. I would not suggest anybody have their standard bank account attached to this company as they do not care about your financial security.

I really like this gym. I’ve been working out at this location for several years and have always had pleasant experiences. However, as of recent it seems the “judgement free zone” only applies when certain staff are working. I have been laughed at as I’ve walked away, pointed at as I’ve walked in the door, and made to feel bad for coming in at 6pm when the gym closed at 7pm. I pay to go here for the judgement free mentality and I really wish all staff were more inclined to abide by this. Alec, Tolkien, and a short brunette girl who is always kind to me are my favorites to see at this location!

The place was clean and not crowded at all. But they are lacking on customer service. It was my first visit and they knew this because 1 I told them and 2 they told me they had to take my picture.
They didn’t offer to give me a tour or explain the gym policies or anything. This would have been the perfect time to “upsale”. I had to ask them questions about how I use my black card and they acted a little annoyed. I asked about tanning and the guy was nice to explain how to check in or make an appointment but he should of walked me back to the bed and made sure I knew how to use it ( I did have a little trouble) they should of also made sure I had eye protection if they really do care also my door didn’t lock so that was a concern. Someone should have shown me how to use the machines as well. And why it’s important to follow the safety rules.all in all I feel this place is just ok not sure I will stick around. If I’m really going to commit to a routine of fitness I think I will go to another gym. I don’t see me sticking with this journey at PF. They don’t seem to care about people’s health or safety just care about $$$.

The manager Robin was rude and she snatched a small eraser white board off underneath my arm. That was disrespectful. If you're a young woman who cares about personal safety, find somewhere else to work out - or, apparently, they will call the police. I travel for work & have a black card membership. This is the only location that's ever asked me to fill out a black card sign-in sheet as well as signing in with the app. Most of the time the staff doesn't even ask, so the policy must not be that important, but there's one staff member who is so pushy about it. When I pointed out that they don't even keep the sheet behind the desk, and as a woman traveling alone I'm not comfortable putting my full name, contact info, the fact that I'm away from home, & my home location on a shared piece of paper anyone can see, the staffer said she'd "call the cops" if I tried to enter without signing it. (When I requested she call her manager, she of course left that part out of her story.) When I spoke to the manager myself later, he said he can't force the staff to keep the sheet behind the desk (??) & "I guarantee you no one but us is looking at that stuff" & just kept repeating "policy is policy." Super disappointing (but not surprising) to be told that my concerns are not real & that staff are able to threaten members for setting boundaries. I'll be finding another gym. (For women: there's one a mile away from PF that has a women's-only weight room. Some businesses actually do acknowledge women's lived experiences & care about member safety.)

Well I want to update my review. I will change it to 3 stars because while working out at this location I had no issues. However, I came in today to cancel my membership (medical reasons) and as soon as the words left my mouth one of the workers (there were about 4 or 5 standing behind the counter) said “called it, I have an eye for these things”. Judgment free zone? I don’t know, definitely wasn’t the most progressional/friendly workers I had experienced in the past.

If you plan on taking a shower be sure to go in the locker room 15-20 minutes before you're done with your workout and turn on a shower because that's how long it takes before you get hot water if you actually do, most of the time it only gets warm even with nobody else in there.

🚨🚨❕The cleanliness and organization of this gym used to be top-notch, but I've noticed a decline over the past three months. The staff seem to be preoccupied with their phones and haven't been as proactive in maintaining the cleanliness standards. I've observed empty paper towel holders on multiple occasions, indicating that cleanliness may not be a top priority. I wrote a review and the owner responded on here with a email asking for me to send more information so they could help resolve this issue. I have done so and asked for and explanations on why I received no phone calls, mails, or emails.
A detailed expiations' including the time period int covers and any charges that were incurred.

Completely disappointed in this location and Planet Fitness, I have been going to this location for a while now I went in last night and I had to update my payment. No big deal. I went in tonight and was told I needed. He had to check with some things on my account after standing there for 10 minutes, he had to pull up another account and said that I had a past due amount from 2020. I do not recall this account, nor do, I understand how that could be a past due account when it automatically comes out of my account or how would be allowed to open an account or continue an account with the past due amount extremely embarrassed was not allowed to for my workout decided to cancel my current membership after the way I was treated and embarrassed, and they could not give me an explanation on when or how I owe the money they say that I owe when I have had a membership for as long as I have very sad and poor business I would definitely watch your accounts and they should have better people handling certain situations with better attitudes and more discrete manners even if it isn’t my issue others may not know that. I was completely Shocked at how it was all handled after saying it was in collections, but nothings on my credit report. I’ve not received a phone call. Nothing on the mail or anything of that nature extremely upset with this whole situation.

Great gym, super nice employees and manager. Truck parking allowed, just not directly in the PF parking lot. Trucks can park in any of the lots surrounding the gym. The best option is the old college. If you're bobtail, the little parking lot extension that sticks off the back of the Planet Fitness parking lot is a good option. The bank also has a large parking lot that will accomodate trucks. We don't want them to kick us out again, so please don't park directly on the Planet Fitness parking lot.

The staff are nice, courteous & professional. My issue is the advertisement to reel individuals in to have them sign up. The ad says $1 down & $24.99/month. This is totally untrue. It is $1, however, that is not the price you pay. They prorated the membership & depending on what day you sign up for their club, will determine how much it actually costs to join. That is false advertisement. The club staff told me, when I asked her why the ad says $1 down, they advertise that to get people to join. If they include the other part about the prorate, it will determine people from visiting the facility & they will lose money. Bad business

Generally clean and lots of cardio equipment, so no problem finding a machine even during busy times. (Although some machines don't work and there seems to be no effort to repair/replace them.) There is shortage of strengthening equipment, and there is a big problem with people sitting on the equipment and playing with their phones for long periods of time. They need to figure out how to discourage that - especially if they are not going to add more equipment.

I looked on the website and saw a pf training class with a trainer to help get you started only to find out they don't have it anymore. This is the one reason I chose planet fitness. I feel like I was mislead and maybe should have chosen a different club. Maybe I will.

The space is clean and it was not overly crowded. The machines are new and there is minimal wear and tear on them. Very friendly staffs.

I’m visiting from Florida. This PF was so very very clean!! I was really impressed and totally enjoyed my workout, Also, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

On my first visit I checked in late night. Cathy was working the front desk and was a pleasure. She was very helpful with showing me how to check in and the use of the massage equipment. Thanks Cathy! First impressions are everything! As someone who came from a smaller older gym it’s nice to see new machines that are plentiful.
