They don't have enough equipment to justify the cost of $50 $250. You will find better equipment at Planet Fitness for $15 a month. If they would update their equipment with newer hammer strength and lifefitness equipment, plate loaded chest and back machines, I would say it's a good gym. But not enough equipment, and really small. Terrible use of the powerhouse gym name.

Kaylie was especially helpful in getting me set up with my membership and walking me through the machines. The atmosphere is judgment-free, with no invasive cameras, so you can just focus on your workout and feel completely in your element.
The equipment is incredible—like being a kid in a candy store, amazed by the cutting-edge machines that are designed to target exactly what they’re meant to. Membership fees are very reasonable, especially compared to bigger franchise gyms, making this an all-around amazing place to train.

Gym is nice, equipment is new and nice, it's kept clean. I signed up a year ago, paid for the year, $470 ($40/ month) a year felt fair for the niche equipment and the trade off smaller gym, smaller turf area, no showers, no locker room, no pool or sauna, and no basketball courts which seemed palpable for the cost. Then when my year was up, I went to renew and the price went up 31% to $620 ($50/ month) with no notification of increase, no option to pay for another year and keep my price, no price reduction for paying the year up front, just a straight 31% increase without any changes to the gym, minus 2-3 additional pieces of equipment. I can't do half stars but I'd give it 2.5. Happy with the gym, unfortunately not happy with the price increase.

I have nothing but good things to say about Powerhouse in Palatine. I recently joined and had the privilege of meeting Kailey, she is very friendly and always has a smile . She took the time to show me around, Got me signed up within 15 minutes. The gym equipment here is top-notch and very clean. When Kailey is not at the front desk she is always finding time to keep things in order. Everyone that I came across that train at powerhouse is very friendly and courteous. I train during rush-hour between 430 and 530 and I never have an issue getting on equipment. The owner Lonnie is very nice. He's done a very good job with this Gym. Highly recommend!!

I went to this gym to view the facility, equipment and get a feel for the place. I liked it and the equipment. I wanted to try the place for a month so the fee for one month would be $49.99. The small girl (Asian) who worked the desk and gave me the tour then told me there is also a $79.99 enrollment fee. I told her I didn’t want to pay this fee for just the one month trial. Her reply was “you don’t have any money? “ I found this question to be extremely insulting and judgmental. I guess the Omega Seamaster watch on my wrist didn’t help her (LOL). This gym was not the place for me and I told her that she was very insulting and left. Maybe she walks into a car dealership and pays the sticker price because I sure do not . Fees are sometimes negotiable but being condescending and rude is not acceptable behavior to me, in a service oriented environment.
I walked. Would not recommend 😕

UPDATE:
Received a phone call from the owner Lonnie. Lonnie was apologetic and offered me a one month trial. I went to the gym and met Lonnie and had a conversation about what occurred and I ended up joining the gym. The gym is kept extremely clean and the gym contains gym training equipment not fitness equipment. It’s small in size but packed with quality equipment. The other staff members including Lonnie are extremely friendly and helpful. I am glad I went and spoke with the owner.

I started coming to Powerhouse Gym Palatine back in early January of 2024. I was inspired to sign up after visiting some of the best bodybuilding gyms in Las Vegas (Dragon's Lair, Fit Club, and Torture Gym). I was not only sold on Powerhouse for the top-notch equipment they have, but the staff and community have all been very friendly and supportive. Not to mention, the gym is 24/7! I highly recommend Powerhouse to anyone looking to take their health to the next level!

Great gym community with clean equipment. Not everyone there is a meat head and people are welcoming. No creepy men. It’s a smaller gym but never too crowded. They don’t have locker rooms or showers, but there are bathrooms and lockers to store your stuff. Staff is friendly and the owner is personable.

I’ve been going to Powerhouse gym of Palatine for over a year. I absolutely love it there! Friendly and amazing staff(special shout out to Oscar always willing and ready to help with whatever).
My coach Lonnie is incredibly supportive and knowledgeable, I look forward to each workout and have had great results since I started.

Gym has a good selection of Arsenal Strength, Prime Fitness, and Panatta Equipment. Everything is well maintain. Equipment feels smooth. Gym is clean. Good gym atmosphere with a mix of everyday people, powerlifters, and bodybuilders. Has a posing room with good lighting. Owner seems passionate about fitness and invests in the gym with additions of new equipment. Great place to get a good focused workout done.

I love this gym! I can’t stress enough about the energy and vibe as soon as you walk in this gym. It’s all about putting in work, including the members that workout here. You can tell they’re serious about their fitness journey and it’s motivating and contagious. Super clean, all equipment is brand new and well taken care of. Best lower body equipment, but overall all of the equipment here is top tier and well chosen. The gym is not as big as a commercial gym but everything else makes up for it for me. Kailey is amazing, helpful, and always keeping up with the gym. The owner, Lonnie, is very involved with his gym and community, constantly keeping up to date with equipment, members, and the needs overall. He even opened up a power cafe right next door to the gym and has meal prepped meals for sale inside the gym too. This gym just feels top tier for serious gym heads. I’ve been a member since they opened up and don’t plan on leaving at all! It’s a 24/7 gym too!!! My #1 reason for signing up in the first place.
