We provide functional high-quality fitness classes tailored to our clients specific goals in the Champaign-Urbana area. Unlike the one-size-fits-all model the big brand gyms follow, each member is guided through our programs and classes to help them establish their personal goals and reach them!

When I signed up at Raw Fitness, I was the heaviest I’d ever been and felt extremely discouraged about my overall health and fitness. I’d dabbled in various programs/classes over the years, but always eventually settled back into a sedentary lifestyle when I didn’t see results or life got too busy. As a total beginner at lifting, I was nervous to join, but Danny is a patient coach who meets you where you’re at and emphasizes teaching the science behind the programming. He gave me the tools and support I needed to succeed, and I quickly gained a lot of confidence in how I carry myself inside and outside the gym. Six months of training has gotten me back on track (and then some) with my fitness, forged a healthier mindset/attitude on exercise, and created sustainable habits I will continue to prioritize. Highly recommend Raw Fitness!

I've been a member of Raw Fitness for three years now, and it's been a truly transformative experience. When I first joined, I wasn't a complete novice, but I had neglected my health for a few years prior and I was unsure of where to even start. Now, I'm confidently in a really good stage of my fitness journey, and I owe a lot of that to this gym.

Over three years, I've built a sense of community at Raw Fitness. The trainers are engaging and considerate of my fitness abilities while challenging me to push myself. I've met and trained with some great people here and the atmosphere from the clients to the staff is always fun and dynamic.

I started at Raw Fitness eight months ago. As a runner, my cardiovascular fitness was acceptable. But as I enter my late 50's I have realized the importance of strength and flexibility training. Danny has addressed that need and I have seen a dramatic improvement in just eight months. His workouts address all muscle groups. I can see the most improvement when I work outside over a weekend and feel great Monday morning. The workouts are not easy. But, the results are worth every moment in the gym.

Very weak and totally clueless about fitness, I joined Raw in September 2022 just to get strong enough to become a skydiver. I had obvious results a few months in; I got my skydiving license after 9 months of consistent gym time and absolutely could not have done it without Raw! I've stayed with them to this day because I quickly grew to love it and realized that it is a worthy investment towards both my physical and mental health.

Not only are Danny and Ashley incredibly knowledgeable about all things fitness- they also make the gym a comfortable, non-intimidating, inclusive, and fun space. It is NOT a typical (and scary) bro gym!! The friendly group format also helps; I was nervous about it at first, but it’s actually wonderful and ideal! They bond with every client and make sure everyone feels welcome. They look out for your safety while also pushing and challenging you. Their great sense of humor and quality guidance are what keep everyone coming back for years. We're often too occupied having a fun time to focus too much on the pain and suffering of exercise :p I highly recommend Raw to anyone who is looking for help and/or motivation in working out!! I really can't imagine going anywhere else ^_^

I have been attending weekend group fitness classes at Raw Fitness for about 6 months now and have loved every second of it! I especially love the Barre class as it incorporates balance work along with targeted muscle group work and I have definitely noticed improvements in my muscle tone over time. They are always so welcoming and have modifications for all fitness levels to truly make an inclusive environment! Ashley and Danny at Raw Fitness create a family environment. The staff at RAW fitness have curated workout programs that are fun, motivating, and achieve results. The partnered training setup lets me know that I’m not alone in my journey and has made me comfortable in a gym environment, but it has also taught me to compare myself to others less and to move at my own pace.

In 6 months I have lost a total of 15 pounds and that does not include a change in diet! I’m excited to see the results of the 12-week balance program!

I love the staff and style of personal training at Raw Fitness. I love how hands-on and educational my training sessions are. I learn a lot about correct form and have gained so much confidence in the gym. Working out through their program has been the only thing that has helped me stay consistent with exercise.

What I love about Raw Fitness is that the culture is welcoming and accommodating to all fitness levels. The trainers advance the weights to a level that consistently challenges you. Danny and Ashley have pushed me to try weights that I never would’ve been brave enough to try on my own. The group classes are also a blast!

Turning 30 this past year, I was really feeling the pressure to prioritize my health. I started working out at Raw Fitness about 6 months ago doing partner training 3 days a week with Seth Jackson and have noticed immense improvements in my daily life. My mood is better, I have more energy, better endurance, have lost weight, and I am able to participate in hobbies like hiking again without my lack of physical fitness holding me back. Learning to work out can be really intimidating as a woman, but Raw is inclusive of all shapes and sizes regardless of experience and they always provide modifications for exercises that may be too advanced for me to do at my current level. I joined Raw a little over a week ago for the 3x a week partner training. I enjoy going, the people are so welcoming and friendly. My trainer Seth is very helpful and knowledgeable. All the trainers seem to really care! When I leave I feel like I got a great workout in. They are flexible for my schedule and I like that I make an appointment which helps me in showing up. I also appreciate that I can pay every two weeks auto draft instead of the total package upfront.
I intend to be a member long term, if you considering joining I highly recommend them.

Raw Fitness and Trainer, Seth Jackson, have been a lifesaver for me! I was recovering from a knee injury and had gotten sluggish and was losing overall fitness and muscle tone. Seth is extremely knowledgeable and patient and developed adaptations around my injury to maximize my workouts safely. At 55 I am grateful to work with someone who is encouraging and patient so that I can see gains but at a steady and safe pace! I'm in my late-20s and have had experience with various athletic activities (weightlifting, tennis, crew, cross-country), and I've nonetheless gotten a lot out of Danny's group training sessions. He's both up-beat and knowledgeable and designs highly varied sessions that combines exercises with free weights, ropes, resistance bands, and platforms. The group sessions are intense but flexible --- he's willing to adapt exercises to individual needs, but always leaves room for improvement and increased intensity. Danny creates a new workout for each class so it's never repetitive, and I feel motivated to come regularly to take on a new challenge. We use battle ropes, boxes, free weights, body weights, sleds, ladders, etc to keep things fresh and physically challenging. I LOVE how welcoming and supportive everyone is. People always greet one another, encourage each other to do more, and laugh through the pain together. Danny creates a very encouraging space, where I feel comfortable enough to ask for help with form or make mistakes while learning a new exercise (aka trying to balance, really). The owner, Danny, is one of the best trainers I have ever worked with. It's too bad I don't live in town anymore, because I have never been in better shape or maintained better fitness in my life than training with him and at RAW fitness. He gets to know his clients and keeps people and wanting to come work out. His routines are clever and challenging. You won't feel out of place if you're out of shape, and he'll know how to push you farther if you are.

I can't recommend Raw Fitness enough! I moved three years ago and it's still what I miss most about Champaign Urbana. I also model my strength training after everything I learned at Raw, because there is nothing else out there like it (trust me, I looked for months after I moved). If you want the motivation of working out in a group, but also the benefits of individual feedback, look no further. The workouts can be modified for any ability and fitness level. And if you want one-one-one training, they have that too! I also loved the focus on mobility and injury prevention, as well as assistance in learning correct technique to help with any current ailments. If you haven't tried Raw Fitness, you are missing out!

I've been going to Raw Fitness for about a year and a half including the group training sessions and the group fitness classes e.g. Zumba & Combat Cardio. It's worked really well for me as there are multiple available times to go and the small class size has kept me more accountable to show up for my scheduled times (people notice if you're not there!). The instructor, Danny, is very knowledgeable and encourages you to work at your own fitness level each day. I highly recommend for people looking to do strength training and/or group fitness!
