Used to frequent the pool because it was clean and offered affordable swim lessons. Now I can't remember the last time the locker rooms and family bathrooms have been clean. They skyrocketed the prices for swim lessons so it's not even an option any longer for our family. Built by the elites for the elites.

I have been paying for a family membership here for years. Mostly we take our kids swimming and although it’s seldom there always seem to be an issue with staffing.

We were turned away yet again today being told that my boys couldn’t swim because there was no life guard on duty. Mind you there were people swimming but because there was no life guard, “children can’t swim”.

I went in to make a complain and spoke with BETH. This so called manager has zero business working in public relations. There was no, “I apologize for the inconvenience” it was immediately, “Well you can contact Leah”. I asked what Leah’s number is thinking I could get a line to her voicemail and she responds, “I’m not giving you her direct number”. I don’t know how dense a person could be. She was casually wiping down counters while another staffer sat behind the desk and wanted to cop an attitude because I asked why they have such bad staffing issues.

She then proceeded to tell me, “it’s been posted on our website for over a week”. I’m sorry but do you expect your members to check your website before coming in because of incompetence? It’s been posted for a week and she’s wiping counters instead of stepping up as a manager and covering the role until the position is filled?

My fiancé and I are completely capable of watching over our own children. If you are going to turn away paid members of your complex then you need to shut that portion of the facility down to everyone!

Additionally, the only bulletin posted was the picture I included below. It states that “starting immediately the pool will be reserved for Adult Swim only Monday-Friday from 12-4pm.

We arrived there Saturday around 4:15pm. I will be following up with the manager and fully expect Beth to be reprimanded for her atrocious conduct. At the very least she needs to take some ethics courses.

Crystal clear 25 yd lap pool. Immaculate clean facility. Individual showers with hotel grade soap, shampoo and conditioner.

Our membership ends at the end of the month. We had five guess passes left. The new management would not honor the passes today. You couldn't pay me to purchase a new membership. Their reasoning was that a mass email went out. Guess who didn't get the email. Emails now exclude people from honoring their prior obligations.

Dont waste your money!!! 2 separate times my wife and kids spent over $30 to go swimming only they take your money then come to the pool and tell you to get out. They wont refund your money because thats all the kids wanted to go there for! Seriously thats messed up and this place is a scam!!! An employee offered his own money because he knew it was wrong but of course it wasn't his fault. Manager wouldnt refund us anything.

Not enough parking. They scheduled too many events and people were parking in the grass. The next day they had fence up so you couldn't park off the pavement. Also the bathrooms are alway dirty.

My family comes here quite often to swim. We pay per swim on weeknights. We called today at 6 asking how long the pool was open. They told us 7:30. At 6:45 the lifeguard told us the pool was closing early due to staffing.

We asked the front desk if we could be comped a swim since we payed 20 dollars for 30 minutes of swimming. Reluctantly we were given passes to swim again but were told that the pool being open is completely at the discretion of the lifeguard and that the hours of operation don't apply to the pool.

This policy is inconsistent at best and infuriating at its worst.

Their physical therapy department and physical therapists are amazing. I did PT here in 2021 after a two month hospital stay from covid, they helped me to get strength and mobility. I just had a total knee replacement and requested that I do PT here. I get two of my old therapists Jessica and Jen and I'm excited to do this new journey of rehabilitation with them. I can't wait until my insicion is healed enough so that I can get in to pool therapy

Plenty of equipment for just about any type or workout. The pool has numerous lap lanes for those who don't want interference in their lap workout. The locker rooms always need cleaning between 11 and 1 when I am there. I am disabled and the handicap or family dressing rooms are much easier for me to use and the toilets seem to always be dirty. Other than these areas the place seems to be pretty clean. Definitely worth going for the value of the health benefits.

The sports center has everything you need for exercises, they have an indoor pool, basketball, and tennis courts inside as well. The physical therapy office inside also has some of the best people I have ever had work on me. Great manners, conversations, and knowledge of what needs to be done. Workman is a great place to go, and the memberships are fairly priced as well. Definitely worth a visit, or to get your family out of the house and exercising sense we just had that pandemic. Check them out.

I give this place 1 star because of the extreme life safety issues with life guards. I went 3 days in a row. 1st day the lifeguard spent a lot of time texting. Left the pool area for an extended period of time WITHOUT anyone watching the pool. At one point another staff came on deck and started talking to him. No one scanned the pool and at one point they both had their backs to both pools. 2nd day guard a little better. Spent time talking on her watch as well as what I'm guessing doing more than just checking the time. She left the deck several times with no one watching the pools. Day 3 the life guard was a little better, but not much. He left the deck several times but not for very long. The Workman Center is a very beautiful facility, the staff are friendly. Parking on 2 sides of the building. 2 pools. Lazy river side was a children's area with a small child size slide, water features, as well as a smaller pool attached . The water is a very comfortable 91 aprox. degrees. Perfect for older people with joint issues or people who just like their water warmer. The aqua aerobics was up beat, nice selection of music. Instructor did a great job leading the participants. Other pool is kept colder for lap swimmers. The rest of the facility was modern and well taken care of. No electric door openers to the pool area, but they do have handicap changing rooms. Just make sure you bring your own life guard.

I like coming here, but I think it's a bit asinine that because I don't live in Effingham that I have to pay a higher rate. The lazy river is seriously underwhelming. And why, WHY couldn't there be any saunas? At the very least dry saunas? Lots of the equipment is embarrassingly outdated. With the wonderful studios, there should be classes all the time, not just a few in the morning and a few in the afternoon. It's like there are deals to prevent stepping on other business' toes, so no other amenities or classes will be there. If there extra classes, it's to promote their own business and get you to come sign up for their programs. There's so much more that can be done... how about y'all get to work on it???

We absolutely love this place. It has a jogging mile, a gym, 2courts for basketball / tennis/volleyball , and it also has a regular swimming pool for exercise and than a kickback spot with a lazy river that starts with an inch of water for toddler play that gets deeper and flows into a mother pool area than into a lazy river that splits into two sections. It usually is kept warm in the lazy river area which some ppl might like but I myself was over heated and that's the only thing I can say that I could complain about. Their is even a new park across the street that was just built and probably one of the coolest I've seen in my area here at Effingham. Everyone you must go check the complex out, it has locker rooms showers single changing rooms, men's, women's. Extra equipment If you have one of those forgetful days and it is at a very very recent price. I didn't pay but I'm almost certain ours was 25 for 5 of us

We went to the indoor pool and splash area and it was nice, clean and the water was sooo warm. There was a life gaurd by the pool the whole time.

The changing rooms wete clean and there were 3 family/handicapped rooms as well.

Prices were great it was $20 for our family of 4.

Life guard on duty was so rude to me and my two kids that I finally just left. Maybe it was my tattoos.. Because he seemed really nice to all the other parents. Idk. I am always so polite and respectful. There was no call for it. No signs said not to use the dive boards at the head of the lap pool. So how was I to know. Instead of saying, I'm not allowed to use them, it was a straight up yell .. Get off those now! I guess I won't get the yearly family pass ... Just stopped me from spending money.

If you are looking for a gym that has activities for the whole family, this is the place. I have been a member for over a year and have yet to be disappointed. The pool, basketball, and volleyball courts give the kids plenty to do, plus they offer childcare during the week so you can get shredded without interruption. (A.M. only) The personal trainers here are amazing! Thanks to trainer Bryce Brown, I am now 70 lbs lighter, and have never felt better!
