We started out at the park district. The experience was so positive we moved training to the academy location. The training and teaching goes beyond the typical martial arts form and function. Master An provides his students guidance into attitude, character, discipline, the ability to focus, and reinforces or reminds them of their jobs as students and their paths in school and life. Master An even had a message about our roles, jobs, and responsibilities as parents. Which is welcome, and some of us sometimes, need to hear those messages and have them reinforced as well.

Our son's confidence and sense for responsibility has improved, and we know it will only continue with his engagement. It's a wholesome healthy environment, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I also love the classical music during class. It seems to help keep the students focused. It's really so much more than just another martial arts studio, it's a place for learning and growing up.

My son had been asking for ninja classes for months, and we finally decided to try out Rockford Academy of Tae-Kwon-Do. I was so impressed with the Little Ninja program they have there. It is a well rounded effort of conditioning of the body and mind. Master An is very hands on and you can tell that he loves what he does.

I really appreciate the emphasis on life skills in addition to the physical skills — gives us a shared reference when talking about behavior at home. Our 8 year old hasnt shown much interest in any sport until we started the 4 week little ninja class to see if he would enjoy this type of futness. During these 4 weeks this is all he could talk about and want to practice was his Taekwondo moves he has learned. We have since enrolled him into the longer term program. If he could go 7 days a week he would, he enjoys the training by Master An and Mr Matt. I’ve been in 6 classes and just completed my first promotion to Orange belt ! I think that says alot for Master An and Mr. Matt and their training style. It also shows that I’m learning something I’ve been curious about. If you put in the time and keep practicing it’s very rewarding.

Master An and Mr. Matt have been exceptional instructors for my daughter. We usually attend Tae Kwon Do lessons through Freeport Park District, then COVID hit and lock-down ensued. Master An and Mr. Matt were able to adjust their teaching to be online and helped provide some routine for many of their students in Rockford and Freeport through Zoom multiple days a week! Though communication is sometimes unclear, their effort is always exceptional. I was in Master An's classes back when I was a kid. I loved going there because I made friends and I felt like I was on top of my world. After awhile my mom got really sick and was not doing so well because she was diagnosed with an enlarged heart working at 15% of what It was suppose to and it did get better but not for years after. Her being fine now thank god but because of it I was forced to stop because we couldn't afford the time and money to get there. I am 21 now but I still have my bow staff which is way smaller than me because I am now 6'4 and my outfit/belts and my trophies I had got at tournaments. Sadly one of my trophies broke in the move but I will still hold onto them because they do still hold meaning to me. Also learning what I did I can still say I remember a lot of what I learned that I didn't think I did. I live in Chicago currently and for the first time I had to use what I learned back in your class. It was almost like a reaction I didn't think I had anymore. I was Jumped by 6 people leaving a subway station after I had got off of work and I was hit a few times but they had it worse than me. I felt like I knew what I was doing. Old muscle memory kicking in and I was doing damage. Your class saved my life. Master An and Master Matt I thank you. 🙇

My daughter has been involved with Rockford Academy for nearly 9 years and LOVES IT! It is a GREAT outlet for a 13 year old, and an amazing way to build her strength, learn discipline, and have fun! Master An & Matt & the entire staff are fantastic! (sorry the picture is blurry - she's so fast!!)

This place is a joke, we signed are son up for classes at the belvidere rec center. They got 6 out of the 10 capacity for the classes. Instructor cancelled the entire course right on the spot and told us we could get refund! Horrible thing to do a person let alone a child. Would not recommend to anyone.

great place and very friendly. the instructors are hands on and make your child feel so proud of themselves even if they are brand new and don't know much. my son was so shy to participate at first but I have seen him thrive in the couple of sessions that we have had. the atmosphere is great and encouring.

Both of my girls started attending TaeKwonDo lessons this summer and they love it. The lessons are different every time, so it does not get boring. They are challenging, but not overwhelming. Master An is very passionate and kids admire him. He tries to teach them not only self defense, but also how to be respectful and responsible (love the “good deeds book”).
Would definitely recommend this class

My son Elijah has been with this academy for over a year and a half and loves it. They have treated me and my son with much respect and my son has learned so much and is currently a Red/Black belt. im a single mom with 2 kids its hard for me to afford his testings.Master Sop An has been so helpful in getting a fundraiser for my son to help pay for his testings im truly grateful for his help this is by far one of the best places in Rockford i would def. recommend going We love it : )

I have been doing kick boxing at Rockford Academy for about 6 yrs, and just started doing Tae Kwon Do there as well about 4 months ago. The kick boxing workouts are intense and effective; I gained 80 pounds while I was pregnant with my son, and I was able to lose it all, thanks in large to the help of Master An and Matt.
The Tae Kwon Do workouts are equally as intense, but engage your mind as well as your body. I find that so much of what I am learning in class is also applicable to many aspects of life outside of class.
The instructors are always willing to work with you if you have questions, and their passion for what they do, as well as a genuine care for their students, is very evident.

I chose Rockford Tae Kwon Do Academy because Master An is very hands on with the children. Master An has shown that he is fully vested in developing my son's ability to learn the discipline of Tae Kwon Do, as well as master skills that he can take with him throughout his life such as respect for himself and others. It is refreshing to have a safe place that is assisting me in nurturing the skills that I am instilling in my son at home.

We found Rockford Academy to help our kindergartener focus at school. We knew that Tae Kwon Do would reinforce the values that we teach at home and also be a great way for exercize for our two sons. Soon after the boys started the Little Ninjas class, my husband and I also joined the Rockford Academy. He also does TKD and I took UBC classes. We are all in the best shape of our life and our happy to see our children grow in confidence and ability. Truly, the Tenets of TKD: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverence, Self-Control and Indominable Spirit reflect what we teach at home.

My son has attended Rockford Academy for almost 2 years. He LOVES Tae-Kwon-Do. Last night, He tested and earned his Little Ninja 2nd phase Black Belt. Master An teaches the kids about Respect, Confidence, Good behavior, doing daily unselfish good deeds, Morals, and much more. The Academy does fundraisers to raise money to make scholorship for kids who want to join. They have yearly Championships for the kids to show what they've learrn and are awarded trophies. These kids work hard every class and learn some very important lessons. Master An offers a trial period, to make sure Tae Kwon Do is something you really want to do and like...my son was hooked after the 1st class.

We have been going to Rockford academy of tae Kwon do for about 2 years and we love it. My daughter was very shy and coming here has really helped her. She is more confident in herself and pushes herself every class she attends. Master An is amazing with the children. He teaches them good morals and that they should respect others . I highly recommend coming here. Also my daughter is going for her black belt which speaks volumes to me since she was so shy and didn't even want to participate the first few weeks . She absolutely loves it now !

He is a good salesman, all what they care about is drain your pocket, testing every 6 weeks for $50, kids cant lean any thing in 6 weeks, but he is taking there money.
30 kids in one class and they are doing the same thing.poor management they never answer there phone.

Amazing!!! Master An has the most amazing patience with the little kiddos that I have ever seen,and his staff, well made trainers.
They done well with my son, and I will continue taking him there for as long as he still loves it.
