Great place friendly staff and lots to do to keep you sane and fit but I do have some concerns about the steamroom. when its working its working but when its not in service there are no signs posted. Today I was looking forward to my morning bike ride and then relaxing in the steam but there were no signs upon entering to let you know that the steamroom was out of service I found out once I came upstairs but still no signs, I just noticed it wasn't working.

I’ve been a member of the south side YMCA on and off (mostly on)since 2008. On Wednesday 4/3 a Senior and I were late leaving because we lost track of time in the steam room. I dressed quickly but the seniors needed assistance. She was using a cane and moving slowly. I was trying to assist her. Chasity came into the locker room and was visibly upset because we were still there. She stated she’s getting calls from her boss because of this. It was approximately 10:15-10:30pm. The senior apologize several time and was trying to move quickly. I assisted with carrying her bags to help. Chasity was to upset to care or notice the Seniors health and mobility issues. Once we made it out the door Chasity left and I continued to assist the Senior to her car. When I returned to the Gym the next couple of days it was a little awkward at the front desk entry but I attempted to avoid it. Today I was leaving with another member at 9:30ish and a guy sitting with 2 women at the front desk said “the hoodlums are leaving earlier today’ and the 2 lady’s laughed. I turned around and asked him who was he addressing as hoodlums. He said it was a joke, I said it’s not funny and you don’t know me to joke with me. The ladies were silent. I don’t know if I want to return as the staff is becoming increasingly unpleasant.

Beautiful facility with great amenities when operational. The staff is great, especially the fitness and front desk staff. The pool hours always fluctuate, the steam room works intermittently and has one engineer who is great but only works the am shift. So if something mechanically breaks, you're screwed until the next morning.

This Y has a friendly and knowledgeable staff. There are two pools, weights, a basketball court, Peloton equipment and a track to walk or run on. I’m so glad I got my family a membership here that I bring my baby here every week.

The price is $15 a day. The membership is $53 a month. I am training for next year so I will only go about twice a month and that is $30 - the $53 a month. Not cheap at all and it should be for disabled people who need to exercise for their health. Very nice place to work out.

The numerous rooms and facility options can be a bit intimIdating, but there are lots of signs to help find your way. The place is clean and comfortably air conditioned and ventilated. You need your pass tag to use the restrooms. I see that as a safety benefit.

They need to be more informed on what they service are for the kids great opportunity but kids need to be more protected from the bad ones they overcharge for their service when it shouldn't cost that much for neighborhood kids especially if you middle class. You're not poor enough to get the services and you make too much money to get a discount and then when you pan all this money you don't see what you paying for. It should be a better structure to protect good kids from bad kids and kids with an IEP.

This location is good for the community. I see all manner of people there and it seems to have a real come together energy to it. The family membership is a good value especially because of my family size. There are valious activies for the children, including a daycare and an after school program. The staff is friendly and very helpful as well. It's pretty clean inside, though the community seems to carelessly litter in the front outside. The hours listed online are not accurate, so its best to check with them. There are busses that drop you off right in front as well. This is one of those not so hidden gems that I am hesitant to share because some blessings are better kept to yourself.

I pay for a nationwide membership, which allows me to use any YMCA in the states. This YMCA denied my nationwide membership, advising me that they only accept nationwide members from the Chicago metropolitan area - hunh? That wouldn't be a nationwide member, but okay. I was then advised that I could buy a day pass for $15, with only two hours remaining in their operation for today. Oh, and the pool is closed.
A little customer service would go a long way here. I advised the staff person that I was visiting the area on business and just wanted to workout before my next event. At the end of the day, the rules are the rules. However, MANAGEMENT need to reconsider their nationwide member guest experience.

I started coming here to swim after CPD closed their indoor pools. I love the reservation system! All lap swims should do this. Plus, its super clean. The staff are friendly and it's never very crowded. They have newer "family" locker rooms in addition to some "vintage" separate sex locker rooms. I LOVE swimming laps for overall health and this place is like my church.
