The Bar is the absolute BEST gym! I came looking to build muscle and improve my vertical for volleyball and they custom built me a program just for that, and I saw great improvements in those areas in just a few months!

They have all the best equipment for those serious about getting stronger. The gym is never too busy, but the people there are amazing. Both the fellow members and staff are incredibly kind, helpful and personable. Special shoutout to trainer Kalvin for pushing me hard and always answering my questions!

The gym is 24 hours too which is amazing if you’re a night owl like myself. No matter what your goals are, you can achieve them at The Bar!! I will recommend this gym a hundred times over.

I absolutely love working out at The Bar! The atmosphere, people, and the location were what I was missing from other past gyms. The equipment is in great shape, and I never have to stall/wait for a machine, and everyone is glad to "work in" into their routines. I absolutely love working out at The Bar! The people are always friendly and create such a welcoming atmosphere. The equipment is in great shape, and I never have to wait for a machine—which is a huge plus. I always feel comfortable here, and Kalvin and Chris do an amazing job running the place. I came to the Bar 3 years ago looking for somewhere serious to train AND for someone who cared about training me as much as I cared about my training and competition goals. I found both here and more. Along with loving that the gym is always clean, that members are hard workers and super supportive of each other, training with Kalvin is something I have looked forward to each and every week. Kalvin is consistent, reliable, knowledgeable and genuinely cares about and believes in me and my potential. Since training with Kalvin, he has prepared me for 4 strongman competitions and a weightlifting meet where my confidence, strength and technique has gotten better with each one. He challenges me with his programming and high expectations but never forgets to make sure I am enjoying the journey- it is exactly what I need and what keeps me looking forward to more progress! 6 months ago I decided to switch from functional strength training to powerlifting so I signed up for personal training/coaching with Matt at The Bar. It was a little intimidating at first but the sense of community at The Bar is exceptional and everyone has been incredibly welcoming and encouraging. I’ve been at The Bar The Gym since 2019, and I’m so glad I made the decision to transition from commercial gym. The is not your regular gym, this is a community. It’s the people that make me stay! The members and the trainers are welcoming. All experience levels are welcome.

The trainers (Chris, Matt, Kalvin, Emily, Shaina, and Mike) are passionate about what they do, friendly, personable, and committed to helping others.

I’ve been working with Chris for about two years, and he has helped me grow in strength. Before Chris, I was a regular gym goer. By working with Chris, I became a competitive powerlifter, and became a state record holder! Chris takes the time with work with me one on one and also is available if I need to message him with any questions. I continue to learn with him as he is a wealth of knowledge and is a great teacher! He is able to pinpoint your weaknesses and turn them into strengths.

All the trainers are willing to work one on one with you and will prioritize safety and preventing injury.

Not only is this a gym, but they also have a licensed massage therapist with her own studio! Jessie is a LMT with a certification in body tempering. She has incredible skills is able to give relief to those knot and tension areas. She does full body work, body tempering, cupping, all helpful tools in rest and recovery.

Great experience going to the gym and meeting the community. Mike V, my coach, introduced me to a new powerlifting program and gym which has heightened my ability and effort in powerlifting. The program is built to help you in every facet and he is there to help you along the way. He a vast knowledge on lifting as well as injuries (in my case). The programming has helped me start to create strengths out of many things that were weaknesses. Highly recommend his coaching if you are looking to compete at a high level with daily help and constructive criticism along your journey.

Nothing scarier than a novice lifter being thrown into a high school weight room with his peers to "work out". That was my biggest concern as my son starts his transition into high school sports.
My soon-to-be Freshman son has been training with Coach Matt for 5 months now and the results are nothing short of amazing. Matt doesn't train him with a cookie-cutter program, but rather one that is specifically tailored to help my son meet his performance and strength goals. More importantly, Matt's focus on form, function, and safety has left a lasting impression on my son and is something that I am positive he will carry into high school in the fall. I really couldn't recommend Matt enough if you want your young athlete to learn how to strength train and condition properly (and have fun, too).

The Bar Gym had helped me tremendously in just 2 weeks while I was home for Xmas break! I am a collegiate football player @ North Central College and was having some form issues with my lifts. Joined the Bar Gym during the pandemic to learn proper form for deadlifts and squats after hurting my back doing deadlifts at home. Powerlifting coaches Jonah and Matt taught me proper technique so it doesn’t happen again. The staff and people at the gym are very welcoming and the gym has all the equipment if you want to do powerlifting, weightlifting, or strongman.

Best gym in the suburbs! What sets this gym apart from other gyms are the coaches. Good gyms are hard to find, The Bar has surpassed by expectations with the professionalism and knowledge these Personal trainers have. My 15 yo son is a wrestler and has been coming here for 2 years he has Nothing but great success with his strength and conditioning with the help of his trainer Coach Kalvin. I have had an amazing experience at The Bar Gym! I do their bootcamp program and their weight lifting classes and I never would have made the progress I have made in the gym without Kalvin and Matt. They are both spectacular trainers and not only do they make sure safety and form are always to a T but they both push you to limits you would not have made on your own. JESSIE is absolutely amazing! Her Massage studio in the gym is relaxing and inviting. I often have issues with tightness in my back and hips. I’ve been going to the Bar for a little over a year and this place is amazing! One of the most welcoming gyms I’ve ever been to thanks to the amazing staff and the extremely friendly gym goers here. I found this place with a small google search and what drew me in was it being a veteran business. I’m a part of the military and I love to support local vets. When you come to this place this will be the last powerlifting gym you’ll ever go to. It has everything you need plus some. Not only does it have amazing equipment it has extremely knowledgeable staff. I’ve worked with the owner Chris before on some powerlifting coaching and programs. That guy knows his stuff! I’ve also had the privilege to try out some of the clinics that they offer here such as their strongman and weightlifting clinics with the other staff such as Kalvin, Jonathan, and Emily ! I started training with Kalvin a few months ago and I’ve definitely noticed an improvement in my strength. He works with you to find your strengths/weaknesses and then implements different activities to help improve them, not only is he an amazing mentor and coach but the atmosphere and other coaches/owner are incredibly supportive. The gym is always clean and I can go whenever I want making it easy to either come in the morning and hang out with other gym guests or after work to train by myself. Equipment is well taken care of and there’s plenty of open machines whenever I’m there even on busy days. If you’re looking for a gym that’s more friendly and filled with helpful staff/other gym goers I recommend the bar even if you’re completely new to weightlifting someone is always willing to help.

I've been a member for about 2 years and there is no better gym in the area. It's a really great and supporting community that trains there. I’ve heard a lot of rumors about this gym and it’s owner, and I can without a doubt say they’re all wrong. The facility is incredible, all top of the line equipment. The Bar is awesome! Being new to lifting, Chris has done a wonderful job helping me learn the correct way to lift! Best Bar in town! Came in looking for a new gym that had powerlifting equipment as I was new to the sport of powerlifting. I came across more than just a gym. It is a place with quality people who are all friendly and supportive of one another. All the new equipment is a plus. They are open 24 hrs so it allows me to get a workout in during busy days. The two owners are amazing individuals who care about their members. Chris(One of the owners) came out of his way and supported me on my first powerlifting meet by coaching me and handling my lifts for the day. State of the art amazing equipment and they continue to astound me by adding more! Kilo plates, belted squat machine, comp bench, and deadlift bars ! This is amateur and vet lifter friendly. Not your typical bro gym. You're allowed to move heavy weights with great people and amazing loud music (not too loud we're not barbarians). These people care about your progress and help out with your training. Chris does such an amazing job giving you instructions if you need help. If you enjoy boring work outs with boring people and soft playing music, then this is not the gym for you. Honestly, it is a powerlifters/strongman paradise!

I consider my beard a bit of a loner. I tend to think of it as a one-man wolf pack. I was alone first in the pack and then Gooch joined in later. And six weeks ago....when Gooch introduced me to The Bar, Chris, and the beards, I thought: Wait a second. Could it be? And now, I know for sure. I just added The Bar and all of their beards to my wolf pack...all of us wolves, running around The Bar together looking for all the gains. So tonight.....I make this review.
The guys here are amazing, staff and regulars alike. Everyone offers tons of support, knowledge and assistance. The Bar is such a fun environment, I feel like I'm missing out each day I'm not there.

Tried out The Bar a few months ago and was sold immediately by the staff, members, and very much the equipment. I was tired of the commercial gym vibe at LA Fitness, and was welcomed even as a random guest to this gym with many welcoming faces and some LOUD music to get you in the right mindset. I love this place!! Recently moving back home from the city, I wanted a gym that was not your typical 24/7 cardio equipment focused environment & this is definitely it.

It has all the essentials - barbells, dumbbells, atlas stones, sleds, slamballs, bumper plates, platforms, and MORE... seriously everything you could ask for!! Not many places in the NW suburbs have what this gym does. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Let's see. It's been 5 months since I started working out at The Bar. I have double my bench press, and seen at least 100 pound gains on my maxes for both deadlift and squat. I definitely am not a power-lifter, at least not your typical power lifter, but Chris has showed me how much I can get out of these workouts. I would recommend this gym for anyone looking for a new start, a tight-knit community of people to motivate you, and a genuinely positive atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend.

Been coming to the Bar for 3 months now and have noticed a considerable increase in strength. Training with Chris is great. He changes up the routine on a daily basis to make sure your work outs do not get repetitive. It's a fun place to work out and a very friendly environment. Hit this place up last week, and had one of the best workouts of my life. Chris asked me if i wanted a challenge, and boy did he deliver. Don't think I've ever pushed myself that hard before.
