I have been training with Carson for almost 2 years. I wasn't someone who worked out regularly, so I really appreciate how he met me where I was and with no judgment.
His approach to optimizing workouts and a healthy lifestyle specific to his clients is second to none. Every training session feels customized and planned for that point in time. He is also able to adjust a workout based on how you are doing that day - mentally or physically.
Most importantly, he is just a solid person who truly cares about the community and his trainees. He makes you feel comfortable even if you’re newer to a regular routine. The facility is spotless and always well-maintained. Everything he's taught me about proper exercise and mobility is something I'll take with me forever.

Great boutique gym for private personal training sessions. Carson and Daniel are great. Workouts are tailored to each individual’s needs. It’s never crowded or overbooked and everything is very clean. New equipment has also been added every few months which has been nice. I’ve been coming for over a year now and have no plans of stopping!

I just started training with Carson about 3 months ago - first time I’ve ever worked with a trainer. The studio is bright and clean with plenty of equipment and options to keep workouts interesting and fun. Aside from my fitness goals, I’ve also been able to significantly improve my nutrition - including needed weight loss - simply from tips and suggestions Carson has given me as we run though my workouts. Carson is super thoughtful about my overall plan/goals and individual workouts - and he’s also a great guy. I look forward to my sessions every week. Highly recommend.

Carson and the Uncommon Fitness team are awesome! I have been working out at Uncommon Fitness for two years and counting, since it’s opening in Ravinia. I originally came to Carson for help rehabbing an injury; he helped me not only achieve that goal but also to completely overhaul my gym strategy and embrace a whole body approach to my fitness. I’m in the best shape I’ve been in in years. I love our 1:1 sessions; Carson is present, meticulous, and encouraging. He keeps detailed notes on my progress, and I always feel like we are progressing towards something, not just exercising for an hour. His emphasis on form and technique is really appreciated. The gym is pristine every time I walk in and the equipment is state of the art. And he’s a good person to be around! Highly recommended.

Carson is terrific! I’ve worked out with a number of trainers over the years, but never stuck with them. The programs always got stale or never had a specific objective. I’ve just marked my 5th anniversary working out with Carson. He is constantly shifting the focus and workouts in order to accommodate the different sports I’m involved with. I have been training with Carson at Uncommon Fitness for over a year now. Admittedly I hate to exercise but LOVE going to work out with Carson. Not only is the studio spotless, bright, and conveniently located, Carson makes working out fun! He is constantly changing up what we do, is completely in tune to my individual needs, goals, injuries and daily aches and pains. He plays great music and will even take requests :) Might seem silly but it’s all the little details he pays attention to that make him a phenomenal trainer and his studio the perfect place to work out. He’s professional, is beyond passionate about his business, his clients and living a healthy but realistic lifestyle. He is happy to make suggestions regarding diet but never pushes anything on you and is not super extreme. I have been able to meet my fitness goals and owe it all to Carson. I have been training with Carson for 5 years, and it has been the best experience. He tailors every workout to each person’s level and goals. Carson was great at helping me on my recovery. I'm recovering from serious tendonosis, and so I needed a trainer for a little while to work with my physical therapist and help me get back in the gym. I have been training with Carson at Uncommon Fitness in the Ravinia area of Highland Park since November 2022. My goals were to lose weight, increase tone, and improve strength in my left arm/shoulder following total shoulder replacement a year before. I am making progress on all of my goals with his help.
He is always evaluating what is going on with my body and adjusting the workout to address any new issues. He has also been in contact with my physical therapist to coordinate my workouts with her treatments. Although I have worked with many personal trainers over the years, Carson has been the most responsive to any new issues my body decides to throw at me!
The gym is spotless and a quick 3 minute walk for me, although there is plenty of parking for anyone coming from outside walking distance. It has been a great experience. Thanks Carson!

Carson is an absolute pro and I highly recommend Uncommon Fitness. He puts a great deal of thought into tailoring work-out plans that allow people to progress in many different ways. For me, he has helped me work through past injuries to build strength and work through prior limitations. He has even incorporated exercises that help me improve my distance in golf!

I have had a great experience working with Carson over the past four months. The space he has in the Ravinia District of Highland Park is well designed for training but it is his approach to training that really makes a difference. After spending more than a decade doing variations of the same weightlifting program, I was interested in changing things up, so I reached out to Carson about personal training. My goal was to identify my weaknesses and improve them for the benefit of my overall health and golf game. In 6 months of training with Carson, I have made significant progress towards my goal. The program that Carson built has most notably improved my core and shoulder strength, which has led to less back pain and improved overall mobility. The best part about working out with Carson is that he’s always on the lookout for ways to help his clients improve. During a core workout, he noticed some weakness/instability in my right shoulder and put a plan in place to tackle it during our next session.
Carson is always on time for appointments and keeps his gym spotless and prepared for his next client. The facility he has built in Highland Park is top notch and has every piece of equipment needed for a holistic workout program.
