Loved this place when we first signed up. Things have taken a turn since La fitness took over. The benches are bolted down way too close to the dumbbell rack, and the hours have been reduced to banker hours almost. I had gone before work from time to time before. Can't do that anymore!

This location is on the smaller side and doesn’t have a good variety of equipment. The locker room is at up weird and the few shows they have are ridiculously tiny. Fortunate, seemed relatively clean, at least.

They bolted the benches to the ground today but did not take the time to realize that it’s in front of the crease of the mirror SMH so now when lifting dumbbells not only is the bench crooked but now we can’t concentrate correctly looking at one shoulder higher than the other because of the crease in the mirror. It throws you off.

Nothing works, everything smells and staff could care less to clean it up, would rather sit around and talk. Accidentally dropped some water on the floor, ask the staff member who happened to be the manager (tall black guy) if I could get help. Was told to “grab some paper towels and clean it up”. They already removed the paper towels, only they had access to mops. So I used one of their floor fans, which they left out, and put a wet floor sign laying around. Hopefully no one fell 🤷♂️

The worst thing about (at least) this location is the actual way management answers all these recent reviews. They are so lazy, generic and with no real meaning, but just another corporate bs language, which has became irrelevant long time ago… just like XSport Fitness.

Updating my 5 star review to 1. Ever since LA fitness bought out xsport they have changed the hours of this location too many times, I have to go out of my way to a different location that’s open late since this happened. The biggest issue I & everyone else has is that this location is no longer 24hours & it’s no longer clean with WORKING MACHINES

Since changing to LA Fitness they have signifcantly cut their hours to now opening at 5am during the week and 8am on weekends, which is insane. I used to come here at 4am on weekdays and 6am on weekends.. so now I am looking to find a new gym unfortunately. So disappointing.

If I could give it no stars I would.. it has seriously gone downhill. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM if you are wanting the 75th location - rumor has it will be closing down but they wont tell you that. I paid for a 2 year membership 3 days prior to announcing it was taken over by LA Fitness. 2 months later they reduced the hours. 2 months after that, they further reduced the hours; so it is open 50% less than when I renewed 6 months ago. The gym is filthy- you have to wipe the dust off before you use anything - if they clean (which isnt very often) they clean during the busiest time of day. They closed the men's locker room for almost 30 minutes for cleaning only 45 mins after they opened. That should be done after hours since they have plenty of time when they are closed. The 8AM time on the weekends is ridiculous - no other gyms in the area open that late. Everyone we talk to there is looking for a new gym - and most of the old time members are gone.. SAD

When this gym was under Xsport it was a great gym. Everybody loved it and it always had people. It even got crowded and had many people working out daily overnight. It was clean and well maintained and better yet 24 hours. The minute LA fitness took over everything went down hill drastically. The lockers looked like a dump, bathrooms dirty and smelled, equipment no longer maintained broke not fixed, no longer clean, pool and hot tub problems, staff unprofessional, parking lot has pot holes everywhere, and much more. To make matters even worse, they without any email or warning just posted on sign on the doors saying that they got rid of the gym access from 24 hours and are only open 5am to 10pm M-T, 5a-9pm (on a friday)!!!!! And weekends until 5am-7pm when it usually had the most people using it. I know plenty of people who are quitting this gym and I am also! This change has only ruined a very good gym. Do not recommend!

Literally getting worse by the minute since it’s become LA. fitness. Maybe some shades on the front windows where you have a row of machines that require sunglasses to be on so you’re not blinded by the glaring sun. Honestly. This isn’t rocket science.

Almost all of the pulley systems are broken. And one of the only ones that work is completely incorrect on weight- the 20 feels like 0 pounds, 80 feels like 30 pounds. The kettlebells are completely scattered about. If you’re really into the gym and have a whole routine you like to do, you’ll probably get frustrated here. If you’re just coming for cardio and some core workouts where you just need a turf and mat, you’ll be fine.
The crowd seems nice and is why this place isn’t getting -3 stars :)

On average ppl are getting charged 35 - 40 dollars a month. Last few months of xsport ownership the experience at this locations was going down hill already. But now being under la fitness this literally has gone down hill. No paper towels, things that are damaged are not fix with sense of urgency. And features have been taken out of the gym however the charge is still at a premium. Let alone the hours have changed but our price hasn’t gone down. The front end is empty when it comes down to products, when xsport use to sell pre workouts or proteins etc….. not everyone goes to the gym however those same ppl are getting charged every month. There is no way they are not making profit!

Since the LA fitness take over, this location has become trash. I’ve been with xsport since the powerhouse days. Close to two decades of loyalty and now I’m leaving, as well as many others. Quite bittersweet because of the gym family. Other than that, looking forward to the Edge in Naperville where the equipment is well maintained, clean, and they open at 4am M-F.

I have been going to this gym for 16 years and have watched it at its best and have watched it decline to what it is now: a terrible place. Tonight 12/13, the temperature in the gym was cold, as it was two nights previously. The steam room either is always broken or it is continuously too hot to enjoy for more than a couple of minutes. The shower stalls has their food and sturdy and grey curtains with white plastic that blow into you while showering. The buyout by LA Fitness has not been good, even as the prices have gone up. There is either going to have to be a major renovation or else this site is targeted for closure. Either way—avoid.

I'm very disappointed in this xsport gym which I have been going to for many years. Since they were bought out by LA Fitness. Before the buyout I paid for a two-year membership because of all the benefits since the buyout they have altered the process for bringing in guests, they are taking away services, and now they are no longer going to be open 24 hours every day. So you take away all these services that I paid for and yet I get no reimbursement for it. When this contract ends I will not be renewing it

I've had an XSport membership since 2005. I've been a long time customer. I live in the Darien and Downers Grove area. There are 3 gyms that are easily accessible for me. I mainly go to the Xpress location on 75th and Lemont. If I need the basketball courts or swimming pool, then I'll make a visit to the Xsport on Finley in Downers Grove.
My membership costs can be a bit lower, but overall I'm a very satisfied customer. I signed up for the 2 year membership plan in 2022 and I can go to any gym I want and use all the amenities. I'll probably do it again, when it's time to renew.....for the right price.
Thanks XSport for your continued service and cleanliness throughout the years I've been a member.

Tried to get a workout bench and there are no adjustable ones and the ones they have are harder than concrete. Lockers are all broke. Don't waste money here. Talked to staff, they don't care and said rates are going up again. 3 rate hikes in a year and all you get is broken equipment.

This place has the constant broke equipment. The remedy? Remove it and raise prices. They have hardly any benches in the free weight area and the ones that are left are either just flat or just an incline, but none that can be flat and adjusted to incline. Constant excuses as to why nothing is fixed. Don't waste your time replying to me to write because I have and did and that hasn't done anything. Terrible. My experience with XSport Fitness was disappointing. Despite signing up for a membership that supposedly included guest privileges for late-night workouts, my husband and I were denied access one Saturday night because guests weren't allowed after 9 pm, a fact conveniently omitted during our initial discussion with the manager. It felt deceitful, like they were more interested in making a sale than providing accurate information.
Cancelling was another headache, requiring a written letter sent to their Aurora location, which resulted in a delayed refund that I never received despite sending a certified letter.
Additionally, I discovered random charges in my bank account, including a $1 fee and a $10 charge with no explanation. I had to dispute all the charges with my bank and put a stop to XSport charging my card. I advise others to check their bank statements carefully to avoid similar surprises.

My 5 stars go to my trainer TAMMY!!!. I've been training with Tammy on and off for a couple of years but always coming back to look for her! She is very knowledgeable in many aspects ( yoga, kickboxing, pilates, etc.). Sessions with Tammy are very personalized. She takes into account my physical condition but also pushes me out of my comfort zone. She ensures my technique is always correct to avoid injuries. Weight lifting, flexibility, balance, a variety of different exercises targeting your every muscle, creativity, posture improvement, diet tips, and at-home exercises are the most important things you get to training with Tammy. She has a great personality and is fun to be around. Look for Tammy at Downers Grove South!!!

I have been a member of mid-size gyms for many years, as well as have worked for a similar chain as XSport in the past. As far as general gyms go, this gym is a good option in that most of the equipment is operational a majority of the time, the gym is clean, and it has a good mix of members in terms of new to fitness up to hard core fitness enthusiasts. I’d give the gym a 4 star rating as I do think the management team could do more on the cleanliness side with cleaning the women’s locker room more often and cleaning up the weights around the gym (or doing more to get members to put their weights back).
My 5 star rating is for my experience with Personal Training with Tammy. I’ve been working with Tammy for 3 years now and she’s one of the best trainers I’ve had in my course of 30 years working with a trainer on and off. She brings a wholistic approach to training, ensuring to challenge and advance her clients based on their readiness to progress. She combines functional training and resistance training which promotes a stronger focus on balance which is critical to everyday living. She is also great at helping her clients work through injuries. I broke my elbow and she has helped me regain the strength in my arm, along with providing me exercises to do at home. She provided better information and exercises to do at home vs. the Physical Therapist I worked with. I am a strong supporter of personal training and highly recommend Tammy if you are looking to start a program.

This gym went from ok, to bad, to worse. It was much cleaner before the “upgrade” to the bigger location but it seems to have gone downhill since they moved to the bigger location, it constantly smells, machines remain broken for long periods of time and it’s just ridiculously overcrowded, even Sunday nights that use to be empty are full of teenage kids overcrowding the benches, good luck trying to stick to a program because at Xsport you’ll have to use whatever is available that day, wanted to hit legs? Too bad hit the ab crunch machine because that’s the only thing not being used

was here for years, thought the new location would have some upgrades, i was wrong. the price of basic membership kept raising for what? old equipment, no pool, no sauna, and it doesn't seem like anything ever gets clean here. dust bunnys, dirt, and chalk everywhere. wrappers in the same place in locker room for over a week. half the dumbell weights were missing and were never replaced when i was there. i thought i upgraded to have guest privileges, but no, the one step up from basic only offers tanning and an old, dirty massage chair that works only half the time and full of crumbs and hair. they would haggle anyone they thought was trying to sneak in or upsell them. the employees were dismissive and could barely be bothered with you needing any help. so i tried to downgrade, they said i have to pay the sign up fee... again? because you're technically paying for a new membership? it was over $100. almost 200 if i remember correctly since there wasn't a promo going on, i said no thanks I'll just cancel, for $10 which is also ridiculous. where does all this money they're milking from people go? the guy asked why i wanted to cancel and he would offer a lower rate to downgrade instead.. huh. i decided to go to VASA in joliet, it's a further drive but I'm paying the same amount of money for so much more. there's always clean equipment, pool, sauna, steam room, red light therapy, and so many machines! also some free classes and consultations they offer with a new membership, and rewards for refferals. 2 guests for $15 more a month. i recommend VASA, I've been there for a few months now and so sorry i wasted so many years at a gym that didn't try like Xsport.

It always reaks of urine. Very very urine-y smell to the entire facility. Old men walk naked and bare foot through the urine to go from the front lockers to the urine. To the lockers, I mean, through the urine on the ground and all surfaces around you. It makes my skin crawl and is a shame that there's nowhere else more suitable in my area to workout at, so I don't get as much exercise as I need, because the gym reaks of urine.

When I first joined, the heavy bag area was great. Now there is 5-6 bags that have fallen down and have just been laying on the floor for months. All the heavy bags still hanging are right next to metal poles and therefore are not safe to use.

I initially gave a 4-star review, but it dropped to 1 star due to a negative experience with Luke, the general manager at the location. During our interaction, Luke's behavior was extremely rude, going as far as rolling his eyes while I spoke, twice!! This conduct was witnessed not only by me but also by Jadae, who works there, and other customers. Luke excused his behavior by claiming his mouth was inflamed, which I found hard to believe, as I'm a dentist and have never seen a patient react in such a manner due to mouth inflammation.
Despite having positive experiences with my personal trainer, Ryan, who did an excellent job, and Jadae, who encouraged me to get a personal trainer, I felt compelled to leave a 1-star review due to Luke's unacceptable customer service. It's disheartening that after being a loyal member for over a year, visiting multiple locations and even receiving personal training twice, my business was not appreciated. Moreover, I discovered that other gym members had also complained about Luke's rude behavior, which highlights a concerning pattern.

Poor customer service and persuasion method, very pushy with their plans, and they wouldn’t allow me to cancel my membership right away even though I have confirm of my number and name. They put my address incorrect into their system and kept demanding to cancel. They don’t deserve my respect. Not meant for me.
Im glad I got myself out of that situation.

This gym is overcrowded, especially on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Always waiting for a bench or any machine. A lot cardio equipment is beat up and some not working. Stuff gets stolen in locker room where locks have been cut off. The locker room is extremely dirty. The staff just sits around doing nothing on slow days like a Sunday. High turnover rate of staff as well. Staff unwilling to show a guest around without signing liability paperwork just for a walk through most likely so they can then bombard guest trying to get them to sign up. Overall just a really dirty gym that has too many people and a disgusting locker room where your belongings are not safe. Would recommend Anytime fitness or even your local park district gym.

I previously went to an Xsport in the city who had confirmed my membership would transfer. I went several times with no issue until one day, they told
me I couldn’t workout there but did not tell me how to resolve the issue because they didn’t know how to work the system. I then worked out as my husband’s guest while they “looked into it” and then came and stopped me mid-rep and said I couldn’t be a guest or workout there because I was a member. None of it made sense so I talked to the manager and all I had to do was switch my home gyms. It was embarrassing to get stopped mid workout (mind you I’m 7 months pregnant) by a gym employee who had no idea what was going on. The manager was nice, but the girl working the front desk was not helpful, not nice and not good at her job. I plan to cancel my membership after that experience.

Only Plays fox news, take that as you will. Just an average gym, people up front only care about talking to other staff or attractive regulars. They don't care about anyone else and it's obvious. Trash is always full and the machines are always a mess. Bring your own clips because most are broken here

The best time to go is early in the morning(3:30am-6am). Not terribly crowded, quiet, machines and free weights are always open.
Anytime after 5pm and you're battling everyone else for a spot on the machines, it's super noisy, and crowded.

As soon as you pull in the lot, you start to get the hint something isn't right. Potholes I mean POTHOLES. Then I went inside, poor customer service. Non working equipment, not a place I can comfortably workout. Might as well spend a couple extra $$ and go to life time fitness. They have everything child care, play areas, 2 swimming pools, steam rooms, running track. I won't be signing up with xport. No need to reply with a random comment generator without even reading the comments. Get it together xport.

Nice gym; it's fairly new so all the equipment is up-to-date. There's 2 young women who seem to always work the front desk and they're really nice.
The men's locker room is super hot for some reason and can get dirty on the weekends or peak hours but for the price you really can't beat this place. However, I would like to see them do something about people using cameras in the gym, especially the locker room and sauna

That locker room needs to be more spacious. When it was in the Darien location the locker room was comfortable and spacious. Now you feel cramped and your space is invaded. I would suggest expanding the locker room and take away that stretch area.

The guy complaining about the lack of smith machines and other machines🤣 I think that says more about him than the facility. If you NEED machines to workout you've got bigger problems than a lack of equipment. I would be more upset about a gym that didn't have barbells, dumbbells, benches and racks.
But in all seriousness, haven't been here since the location moved but as a competitive powerlifter and personal trainer they had everything I needed and more the last time I was here. At the end of the day it's a commercial gym, they have to make sales pitches. That's corporate. Most employees don't like that but they have to if they want to keep their job. And if you need specialty equipment go to a specialty gym. Commercial gyms are for the general public and equip accordingly. Not to mention COVID hit the fitness industry hard so repairs, maintenance, staffing and purchases are difficult to keep up with.
OG lifters know the best gyms are in warehouses and industrial parks. They smell like sweat, the equipment isn't shiny, and they don't sell $10 weight loss smoothies. If you're complaining about this gym you probably wear gloves and a belt while curling in the squat rack 🤦🏻♀️

After cancelling in person(so i thought), i was still over charged for a couple months without even going to the club. I called and they said they needed my signature to cancel after waiting on the phone for an hour-2. After the call they told me that I had to drive 300 miles to the original location to sign a paper. When i got there, they made it so weird and awkward so that you get pressured in not cancelling, at least that's what it felt like. I think this is why you cant cancel over the phone, its such a money scam scheme that truly awful. How can the employees feel ok after doing this?
So finally, I get the copy of the paper with my signature and send it to the xsport hotline/corporate. Soon after a couple weeks i get my refund. This entire experience was so bad that it made me write this review. Someone seriously needs to do something about this. Its an awful system to entrap consumers in things theyre not using for their money.

The attached images were taken in the yoga studio on April 30th, 2022, before yoga class with teacher Kateri P. I softly asked yoga teacher how often yoga studio is being cleaned as I have noticed the floor is dirty every time we have a class, and I showed her what I found on the floor. She said: "Put this in the garbage". She also added, she is hired by this club to do yoga and not worry about clean floor.
Another complain I have about yoga teaches; Kateri P and Tammy L turns off the light every time for yoga class; we have yoga class in the dark. It does not say anywhere on the schedule that yoga classes will be in the dark. It should be Vinyasa flow yoga and Hatha Yoga classes and neither of them are marked on the schedule as yoga classes in the dark. Please clarify and mark your classes accordingly on the calendar. If the class is not marked "as class in the dark" it should not be in the dark.

I been going to the gym and previous gyms I never had a problem with locking my stuff in a locker don’t use a locker no one is trusted but ever since Tuesday i had my stuff locked up in my locker and someone picked my lock along with a couple others and stole at least 20 dollars from me corporate needs to do something about peoples loss especially since they charge 79 for initiation plus 49 annually they need to support there customers so this is why 5 stars would have been good but not till then this happened

XSport fitness did not honor their 24/7 part of the deal I signed up for. Instead they continued to draw funds from my credit card while I was under the assumption that the “membership” was on hold during covid shutdown and covid surges. The club was inaccessible to me yet XSport took plenty of money. Very dishonorable . Not trustworthy. Do not do business with these people . Set up your own home gym. It’s a nightmare to get them OFF your credit card . Fine print said “24/7”, they did not honor it but they still took the money. Credit card disputes…. My advice is to put in a credit card dispute . You probably will not get the money but the credit card companies will eventually get tired of all their disputes from XSport and drop them. The best way to deal with XSport and their dishonesty is to cut off funds.

I've been coming here for a week and even though it's further away than 2 other locations I come here because the equipment, the atmosphere and overall gym is better. Especially comparing to the other gyms, the staff here actually looks happy. You can tell in the way they interact with each other and the clients. Someone's doing a good job creating a positive work culture. I even see the trainers actually walking around the gym and picking up trash or tidying up the floor which I've never seen in any other xsports. Everyone from the managers, the clerks to the porter seem to invest into the atmosphere and energy here and that's why I come here

The new location is nice and roomy however there are a few problems. To name some odd issues: There's already leaks in the roofing which, from what remember, was a problem back when this was a UFC gym. You'd think they would fix that by now. There's a odd lacking of Smith Machines like in most commercial gyms and the only single Smith available is an angled one which doesn't bode well for many exercises due to the bar path.
Equipment Selection and Proper Commerical Gym Floor Planning: For some reason their new selection of machines is baffling as if they just kept a bunch of UFC Gym's old equipment and shifted any equipment that wasn't broken from the old gym. There are 3 hamstring machines, 2 leg extensions, and 1 pec deck machine? There doesn't seem to be a professional gym floor plan here just a hodgepodge of random equipment. This causes an issue as certain things bottleneck like the one and only pec deck being used by someone who cares more about texting than actually physically moving while there's rows of barbell benches to be found on the floor. Don't expect a proper floor plan like you'd get at Lifetime, FFC, or Equinox in the city.
Staffing: While professionalism is sometimes lacking at times, for the most part they are a lot better than they were in the old location. I'm not sure if that's because old man Dan Morrissey finally stepped down plus the other two company founders are out (Feldmens are finally gone as investors and the other committed suicide a while back) and new CEO Steven Rayman stepped in to clean things up, but things are looking a lot more professional. They have never come up to my wife and I to sell anything like most corporate gyms do. If anything they say hi once and leave you alone to workout which is much appreciated. I'm sure if I asked for anything they would be helpful as I've seen them help many others in the gym with various things.
Hours: Sadly Xsport doesn't seem to be a 24/7 gym anymore which knocks it back into competition with the other gyms around like Lifetime, LA Fitness, Equinox, and FFC instead of just going head to head with 24 Hr Fitness and Anytime Fitness. This is rather big as if you're a person who workouts late like I do at 1 or 2 am because of work, Xsport is no longer that commercial gym you can count on to be open.
Maintenance: Most gyms have a floating handy man to fix gym equipment or an Operations Manager to report broken equipment to corporate to ask for someone to come fix something. Sadly this doesn't seem to be the case with this particular Xsport as within the first month of opening there are already broken equipment left and right on the floor. To be fair it's old equipment and not the new UFC Gym equipment that Xsport just seems to place a sticker over the Logos while the indents still say UFC Gym. This means that Xsport shifted their already old and poorly maintained gym equipment from the old gym to the new location which is a safety hazard. Unlike gyms such as Lifetime who has a dedicated Operations Manager that goes through and does weekly checks on the equipment, we the people just wait and use the equipment until it breaks on us mid set. I guess that's why they make you sign that long liability waiver when you sign up.
Lastly, the roof of this place has been leaking since it was a UFC Gym. If anything the leaking has gotten much worse recently. Please fix the holes in the roof!
Overall: Mediocre gym that pales in comparison to it's competitors since shortening their hours. Equipment is a blend of new and old machines where using the old ones are at your own risk. Staffing seems friendly enough or at least doesn't bother you like the CIA of suits that bombard you at Lifetime with their annoying trainers who can't stop offering you their business cards. Location is prime as it's only 5 minutes from my house and right off the highway making it super easy to get to and a great location of you're coming from the city or North Suburbs. A bit more attention to maintenance and this gym would be a 4/5.
