Working with Mike was proof that training smarter really pays off. As a surfer living in Chicago (who likes to surf the heavy stuff), I don’t get in the water as often as I did when I lived in California. Although the workouts didn’t seem terribly difficult or complex on the surface, the first trip I took, I was able to surf 5 hrs a day for a week straight at one of the more challenging breaks I travel to (fast currents, big beach break barrels) without even breaking a sweat. Even when I surfed 5 times a week, I couldn’t do that. Thanks again y’all!

I can't say enough good things about my experience with John Kinnemann at YDM. When I joined, I was a year postpartum and lost about where to start. John welcomed me each session with a positive attitude and created workouts that were challenging - but doable. He made me feel strong and capable and that kept me coming back. He took the time to understand me and my goals me exceptionally well, and tailored a great training experience. Mike was also very prompt and responsive throughout all of my outreach, and incredibly welcoming in the gym. The facility is well-run and clean - and everyone who works there fosters a great environment.

I contacted Your Daily Move for personal training sessions following surgery. Mike was prompt in getting back to me and set me up with a trainer that could help me to get back into my workout routine. I was matched with John K. for six sessions and the experience could not have been better. John was mindful in planning each session according to my recovery needs. He gave me a home workout routine to do in between sessions that tied into what we did in the studio each week. His knowledge and professionalism helped me so much in getting strong and healthy again. Each session built on the last in a way that left me feeling myself again, and ready to work out on my own. I can’t recommend Your Daily Move enough for any rehab or training needs that you have!

John and Mike run a tight ship. This training gym features skilled and excellent personal trainers, offering one-on-on, specialized, expert training experiences tailored to the clients’ individual needs. Functional training, full body conditioning, strength, balance, core, and coordination are always the focus, but weight-loss, muscle building, stretching and corrective training are also tailored to client needs.

This isn’t one of those places where you feel intimidated or self-conscious, regardless of age, gender, body-type, or gym-experience. It’s mainly one-on-one, targeted to the client’s desires. But wonderful small group classes are also available.

The location is great. There’s plenty of street parking. The gym is comfortable and very well equipped. And they have very flexible hours.

I love YDM. I’ve been a client since they opened in 2018. I feel at home here and I can honestly say this gym has changed my life.

If I could give it more than five stars, I surely would!

For context, I started looking for Personal Training when I was ready for a lifestyle change coming out of a period of sloth, social disconnect, and questionable relationship with alcohol (sound familiar post Pandemic?). I needed a trainer to gently bring me back to fitness and provide accountability, social interaction, and motivation. I chose YDM and got much more than my baseline requirements.

The founders (John M & Mike) were welcoming and continue to be sincerely appreciative of my business. My trainer, John M, is astoundingly knowledgeable with a deep understanding of physiology. He is also kind, caring, personable, and supportive. A weekly group class I attend (Move Strong) involves a social and supportive group who I now consider friends. The leader, Natalie, is positive, upbeat, and challenges me to push myself in a respectful manner. Another class I attend is for boxing and was a surprise to me how much I enjoy the new activity and the variety it lends to my exercise regimen. The leader, Matt, shares his expertise and experience in a manner suitable for anyone – no prior experience required and no intimidation for newcomers. I also have elected to do 1x1 sessions with Matt to supplement the group boxing classes, which speaks to the variety of options at YDM.

YDM is just the right size for me, the studio is immaculate, and at a convenient location (full disclosure, I live within walking distance). The business model of training sessions & scheduled group classes works well for me (but may not be a fit for those who prefer to drop in whenever 24/7) and I feel I get solid value for my investment. YDM is different from corporate gyms where I often felt crowded, self-conscious, intimidated, or pressured with sales tactics. I would highly recommend considering YDM; I haven’t had a moment of regret and feel great about where this fitness journey is taking me and the team helping me get there.

This is my second time training with Mike P. for postnatal training. There's a reason I went back and followed him after he opened YDM. I knew he would create an effective program, personalized to my needs, in a safe and fun way. I had diastasis recti both times and each time he was able to correct it in less than a month while working on building back my overall strength. This is not a place that will work you so hard that you'll be scared to come back the next time. The approach is gradual but challenges you appropriately. They will educate you and give you the tools to continue and maintain a healthy workout routine on your own.

Thank you Mike and YDM for giving me my body back. I feel like myself again.

I started working out with Mike Pileczka towards the beginning of Covid (June of 2020) because the YDM space is super clean and never crowded. I've stuck with Mike since then because his workouts keep me in great shape. At my request, we've focused on strength training and Mike is great about tailoring my workouts to meet my goals. I've also trained a number of times with John Kinneman and Laura Caputo and both craft great workouts based on what I want to focus on that day. Whether you're new to working or already in shape and looking for someone to push you, the YDM team is awesome.

The new space is fantastic. Mike and John have done a really great job with the space as well as setting up great classes that meet all fitness levels and interests. I have been training with Mike for almost a year and I think he has really taken my program to a new level since opening the studio with John. Since the quarantine has gone to effect, they never skipped a beat. The guys quickly set up virtual classes and training sessions. Mike's virtual training sessions pushes me and still makes me sweat. I have also been taking Laura's virtual Mat Pilates classes which have really helped me up my ab workouts and flexibility. Thanks to Mike, John, and Laura for keeping me sane and on top of my fitness goals. Really looking forward to getting back in the studio with everyone.

I feel incredibly privileged to have Mike and John right around the corner. No kidding -- I would cross the city for them. When we all were forced to stay at home, I didn't know what I'd do without my almost daily trips to their gym. It's a testimony to their commitment and creativity, though, that they instantly pivoted to virtual classes without missing a beat. I've seen how other gyms in the neighborhood have gone "virtual" -- but none of them offer fully interactive classes where the instructors still provide that personal feedback. Both of them are naturals are making a virtual environment have that live class intimacy and energy.

As a result, all of the qualities that brought me over to their gym in the first place still apply. They combine an expertise in movement, a really friendly vibe, and a teacher's sense of how to structure personal training and group classes to be both fun and challenging. At whatever level you are at, whatever your body's needs, Mike and John will listen and create a program in which you will stay motivated and grow.

I have worked with the founders of YDM (John and Mike) for 7 plus years, their attention to detail is unmatched in the fitness industry. John and Mike are two of the most educated trainers you're likely to meet -- which means everything when it comes to preventing injury or rehabbing an existing one. I almost gave up on running until I started working with John. He diagnosed the muscular imbalance that was causing knee pain and got me back on the road.

Classes are kept small, and they work the room offering corrections and modifications. When I once mentioned that a pulled muscle would probably make me more of a spectator than participant, they found ways to make every exercise as challenging as possible without causing additional stress. Your well-being is prioritized here. Five stars all the way.

I can't say enough good things about Your Daily Move and, in particular, Mike P. I started training with Mike when I was 5 months pregnant. Mike is a certified pre and postnatal personal trainer and really knows his stuff. Under his guidance, I was able to continue to train, at a high level, until the day I went into labor. And when I was ready to get back to training after my son was born, Mike helped me get back to my pre-pregnancy fitness level safely and effectively. Mike really tailors his workouts to his individual clients and I can say in the 2 years I have trained with him, we have never done the same workout twice. Mike pushes his clients to achieve their best, while always emphasizing proper form for injury prevention. The fact that the YDM space is beautiful and well- equipped is an added bonus.

John and Mike are dedicated to getting the results to meet your goals. Their classes are small no larger than 8 which allows them to focus on you and correct your form. Too many gyms pack their classes where it feels more like high school PE. Definitely not the case with YDM. I’ve trained with John for over 3 yrs. with his Thai Massage techniques I’ve seen much better movement in my hips with no knee pain.

I’ve taken 2 classes so far and really liked them both. Classes are small, 8 people, so there’s a lot of individual attention. Classes are as difficult as you want to push yourself. I left both classes having sweated through my shirt which always indicates a great workout. John and mike are very knowledgeable and really aim to correct form issues which will help achieve an even better result. Can’t recommend these classes more. Hard work but also fun, what more could you ask for?
