Was in town for a week visiting family and have found this gem. I've recommended that they check this gym out for their needs as well. Not a good atmosphere. Rules are not enforced as promised. Lots of teens that horseplay and linger on their phones. Equipment is mediocre at best. There are other gyms in the area that are equal to, or better than this one.

In reply to the gym owner’s reply to my original review above.
Equipment . I did personally help select pieces from the website and very briefly test a select few pieces of equipment in the warehouse. I was told how much of a bargain the machines were being purchased for. The prices paid for the equipment definitely reflects the quality of it. That being said, yes I liked it (for the money that was spent on it). You get what you pay for.

Rules and enforcement. Issues were reported to staff by numerous people at different times. The staff told me they instructed not to confront members. Horseplay and disrespect was more common during unstaffed hours.

Perspective. Quite a few serious lifters have left the gym for similar reasons as mine. So my review reflects the gym more accurately than you think.

These stated reasons are why myself and others have moved on.

I continue to come back to All-American Gym when I'm in town because they're worth it! New ownership has put time & money into it that's hopefully paying off. If you're into lifting, the machines are great with enough free weights & other equipment to keep even the most experienced lifter interested/engaged trying new things or feeling challenged in new ways. Love this place - keep it up!

As far gyms to weight/resistance train at, this is by far the best gym in Porter County. Plenty of Cardio stuff to but everyone has that. Owner is super cool. And the equipment is top notch. No reason I'd go anywhere else.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The staff are incredibly friendly, professional, and always so understanding. They truly make everyone feel welcome and supported no matter their fitness level.

New equipment, new atmosphere, good people and friendly but not intrusive to your workout. People who come here want to workout and not be 5 deep with friends, checking their phone, hogging equipment, etc. They're here to work and encourage each other. The staff are friendly, and all of the equipment, except the cardio, is brand new, and the layout just works.

If you want something away from commercial gyms or the summer programs that make gym space unbearable in the summer, you really should check this spot out.

I saw complaints about rules, and they all revolve around cleaning up after yourself, reracking weights, recording others, and not letting other people in free. Those aren't rules, they're common courtesy that had to be posted because some don't abide.

I've been coming to this gym since it was charter. This is by and far the best gym in valpo. The equipment is all new. They redid the locker rooms, the flooring, the paint. It's amazing, just how much attention the new owners have paid to the patrons. They're also so friendly, and always talk to me when I come in. It's a great place, and in the morning, the whole crew that comes in, we're all friends and all push each other. Great atmosphere. I love the $15 fee for not re-racking your weights, I love that they actually do it too. I hated coming in and spending 20 minutes putting stuff back before working out, my OCD won't let me just look at it and not fix it. The staff is all amazing, including the hourly staff that I get to interact with when I come in in the evenings. This is how a gym should be.

I have never written a review in my life, but I feel like I had to come on here and say something after the new owners arrived, my experience completely shot downhill and the prices skyrocketed. I think most of the people that originally went here should’ve had a Grace period, and at least grandfathered into the old fee. this place is way too expensive and the customer service is not that great either. every time I come in this gym I don’t feel welcome, and it’s always under pressure. I don’t think I will be coming back. I really loved this gym over the past two years and loved how it turned out but the people here are not very positive. Prices are way too high And majority of my friends and family that went here, have decided to leave from the customer service and the fees going up. And too many rules into place as well I understand about certain rules, but a $15 re-racking fee is absolutely absurd, considering the price of going here month-to-month. But overall, the equipment is nice and I would come back if there were different people involved and more negotiable prices. most of us have bills to pay and families to feed. Again, this is no way to offend anyone this is just my honest opinion. I had tried giving this place many many chances, but I am very displeased with the quality of customer service.

I wish I could rate this gym higher. I have been going here for 4 years now and have loved all the new equipment recently. unfortunately I had a very rude interaction with the lady owner. The guy was respectful while informing my friends that their account billing information needed to be fixed. however, the lady owner was rude and talking down to us the whole time. I have been a paying customer for years now and just find it ridiculous too be treated this way by the owner no less. :(

Unfortunately I don’t think I’m coming back because of this situation… so I understand I had a late fee and I didn’t know until the owners showed up. The guy was very nice about the whole situation but the lady was not happy about it.. she continued on with saying that I was 10days late on my payment, but also included that she was suspicious about my moms voicemail because she pays both of the accounts we were on, after she told us that she left. We finished our set then she came back and repeated what she said again( I already understand) but I don’t know why the voicemail even matters we never missed a payment until then and my boyfriend has been going there for almost 4 years now. They also deleted one of my friends reviews so that’s also suspicious to me, don’t recommend coming here. It’s sad because I really liked the gym🥲

I switched over to All American Gym when the new ownership took over, and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my fitness journey. Before coming here, I was working out at a different gym, but the difference is night and day. The new management has really elevated the experience — the facility is always clean, well-maintained, and packed with top-tier equipment for every type of workout.

I absolutely love working out at All American Gym in Valparaiso. As someone who used to go to Charter Fitness (the chain gym before new ownership) I will say that the entire atmosphere is so much better. The equipment is new and clean and the layout makes great use of the space. The vibe makes me want to work out even harder. The new owners are always around and getting to know the members of the gym which is great to see. They even host events at the gym every once in a while which I truly appreciate. It feels like so much more than your ordinary gym!

Started coming here in 2017 when it was still Charter, nothing changed under the One More Gym Banner so when the new owner was announced I was skeptical.
I have never been more impressed with a turn around like this. The new equipment took some time to get used to but I am loving all the new and upgraded equipment. It seems like genuine time, care and effort was put into place to get the gym in the right spot and the continued 24 hour open access has been great. The new owner is very friendly and tries to actually get to know the patrons which is very much appreciated.

New age updated equipment & everyone that works out means business so you don’t have to deal with any frustrations you can have at other locations. Lots of updates. New owners. 24 hours. Good place for serious lifters or casual. I've personally been coming here for 10 plus years and been through multiple owners. The previous owners never really put any money into the gym and it went downhill, forcing a lot of previous members to planet fitness. I'm still adjusting to all the changes, my one negative right now is the over sized wide benches.

Update: place is almost finished; overall with the new floors, paint, and lighting, this place looks a million times better. As for the equipment, they've been phasing out the old stuff and replacing it with Primal. I personally think there are better manufacturers, but that's just me. For example: several pieces of equipment seem to be made for shorter people and some of the machines are just really awkward with the positions and how the frame is designed. Luckily there is plenty to choose from and you can always replace something with a different exercise.

Love this place. Atmosphere is great and definitely a judgement free zone. Jeff takes care of the place and keeps it very clean! The new upgrades to the gym are absolutely fantastic. It’s nice going to a gym with new and clean equipment. I pay $40 a month which is what I was paying at anytime, but here I get new equipment. This gym is also very quiet and everyone keeps to themselves and no one bothers you which is the best. So glad I switched over to this gym a few months months ago. I will always be coming here as long as I’m in valpo! ❤️
