The swim school is so well run. I love how easy it is to manage the times online and rescheduling is made simple. My son really just needed the confidence to swim and within two classes he was swimming on his own without floaties and diving under the water. My daughter cried for the first 4 classes and other swim teachers not assigned to her class came to help calm her down. Everyone there cares and it shows. I have been more than pleased that we started Aquatots and wish I would have done it sooner!

We love Aqua Tots! My daughter was afraid to get in the water without me but the instructors were incredibly kind and patient despite my toddler crying the entire first lesson. Staff is knowledgeable and treats you like family. I knew my son would take to the pool because he already loves bath time, but I am already seeing progress with his swim skills and his level of comfort in the pool (and we have gone weekly for just over a month). The curriculum takes kids ages into consideration and makes it fun and engaging from a developmental point of view. Everything has always been to his (and my) comfort level, and I have never felt forced to do anything we did not want to.

I wish they were more upfront about the fact that their teaching method is based on dunking and holding young children under water without warning to force them to learn breath control. This does not work for all children and I would not have gone if I knew this.

We first tried when our son was about 2 or 3, but the whole experience was terrifying for him and he would panic whenever we went. We canceled while we were there, but you have to purchase a month at a time and you don't get refunded for unused weeks. We decided to try when he was older, since we had an in house credit for the pre-paid weeks and had already sunk hundreds of dollars into prepaying.

So, we tried again recently at age 7. Once again, kiddo was dunked and held under the water despite his protests and had a huge choking panic attack. It was horrifying to watch someone handle a child in such a way. We were assured by management this is normal and that this is an effective teaching method.

So, we canceled again. However, I didn't realize that when you cancel your reservation online, you're not really canceling - you have to cancel in person 30 days in advance - and we received yet another huge bill.

At this point we have paid them several hundred dollars to absolutely traumatize my child around water.

This place has so many issues which is sad because the instructors are great but Lisa at the front desk and the way they operate is frustrating. First, they were supposed to be closed for a week or two for maintenance, that turned into my daughter missing 3-4 classes. Fine I get it. On the week they return. we get to her class and they told us they had to reschedule her class because of an incident in the pool. No phone call or anything, and we drove from 45 minute away. Despite that, They didn’t seem to care, they just offered a makeup class on file. Luckily, I waited about 40 minute-!4 someone didn’t show up to a class so I took that slot, resulting in her missing the first 10 minutes of class because they were given a 10 minute grace period. Fast forward to September 28th, I let them know my daughter wouldn’t be there for October due to vacation as we were going to be out of the country the entire month. We got back from vacation today and I looked on her account and she didn’t have any makeup classes. I called to inquire about this, Lisa tells me even though I let them know in September, I should’ve called every time she had class to let them know she wouldn’t be there so she couldn’t give me the makeup class back. We were out of the country with no cellular data so how could I have called every time when I told them already she wouldn’t be there? I paid tuition for October and everything and she said she will have to ask her manager because I was supposed to call for every class. No one told me this in September. I explain my frustration to her & say I don’t want to do business with their company & want to cancel my membership if they can’t uphold giving me my makeup classes back if this is how they operate she said “ok that’s fine we can cancel your membership” I clarify I said “if” they can’t & I ask her will she still be emailing her manager. She just hangs up on me. I called back twice, no answer. This isn’t my first encounter with Lisa being rude & short. I would choose a different location as opposed to this one. Again, The instructors are great but the customer service not so much. Take your money where you will be valued. Because clearly, they don’t care about their customers.

We have had at least 4-5 different people teach us (myself, my wife, and our 17 month old) for almost a year, and everyone has been so kind. Honestly not even just our instructors, every member of the staff greets us with smiles, and always remembers our son. I love this place so so much!

We have been beyond pleased with the instruction at Aqua Tots! My daughter just graduated Level 3, and begins Level 4 next week. She was so afraid in the beginning. Lots of tears and “I don’t want to go” which is exactly why she needed to be there. Having a cottage on a lake, I’ve been so afraid of her wandering too close to the water or falling in and panicking. She is now confident, LOVES going to class, knows her Level 3 goals well, and I have peace of mind knowing she knows what to do should she ever need those skills. Priceless. Most recently she had Octavia and then Luke as instructors. They were both great - patient yet firm, fun, honest with what she was doing well with and what needed work. Thank you, Aqua Tots! I have had a child at AquaTots Schererville for 5 years starting with my son from level 3-7, daughter levels 2-5, and currently my youngest (3 yo) working hard in level 3. Through it all we have been beyond blessed to have Madison be their coach at some point or another. She is sweet yet stern, helpful, challenges them to make progress, and really cares about her students. I love seeing them interact with her and smiling during their lessons. We love aqua tots! My 4 and 6 year old boys attended once a week for about 9 months. We had Ms. Kaitlyn and Ms. Lily and loved them both!
We decided to take a break for the summer. About a month after our last class my 4 year old jumped into a deep family pool before realizing he forgot to put his floaties back on. Without instruction, he was able to stay calm, swim to the edge of the pool and pull himself out. I was so proud and so happy that he remembered what he learned and was able to use it in a real situation. Highly recommend coming here for your young ones!

This business is a joke. I have so many complaints. First off they will do anything and everything to not return your money. Second they start and cut every class short. Third if your child moves up a class, which in all honestly there is no actual way to calculate, then you can’t get a new schedule for weeks. Oh wait and they “can’t” book more then a week out so good luck. The receptionist and coaches have super high turn over except for a select few. That being said miss meagen was the best and my kid loved her. Only stayed as long as we did bc of her!

I enrolled both my 4 and 9 year old kids who both had previous water experience. My toddler was so excited and had a ball her first four lessons, however, on her fifth lesson, there was a substitute teacher and that person forced my child under the water and the experience terrified her. Each subsequent visit there after was a total nightmare. My child should have been allowed to go under water when she was ready. As a result, I pulled both my children from the program as this issue was never addressed.

This place is always VERY busy. For newbies, good luck! Everything is rushed.
We arrived abt 4:30 to a 5:00 class. My son was SO PUMPED!
But They never called my son’s name when his class started so he missed about 15 mins (half) of his lesson on his very first day today.
Their explanation for that after I asked abt it was maybe they “pronounced it wrong or maybe it wasn’t on the roster”.

Aqua Tots canceled ALL remaining lessons today bc of a chemical imbalance of the water. Definitely necessary, but such an unexpected bummer for the kiddos.

There’s more, but what’s the use, smh…I had 2 friends wanting to put their kids in Schererville Aqua Tots. I will recommend that they do not.
It just wasn’t a good experience for our first time…a 15 minute swim lesson? Smh

I have given this place about a year to see if we would like it more. And it has been terribly disheartening. Prior to starting here, my son was excelling at his swim lessons and moving along as he should. That has not been the case with Aqua-tots. The swimming area they provide is completely inadequate which leads to kids getting bored very easily. It’s to be expected that there will be some shenanigans but to sit a child out because he is trying to have fun in the tiniest of spaces is heartbreaking. My son has barely learned anything a year later and now I am turning to private lessons because the level of attention they are giving each child is minimal. It is half the size of a standard pool width and then they only let them swim half way there. Their bodies alone cover half of that space when they are out trying to swim. They are lovely people and I have to commend them for being so flexible but if you need your child who is in the age range of 3-5 to learn to swim enough to feel comfortable with them around water, expect almost 18 months to a year to get there. (And this is with swim lessons for two and a half years prior!) my son was not new to swimming and he has been in the water since he was a little over a year old. I’m super bummed to say, I don’t recommend this place at all.

It gave my kids lessons more frequently and since not a lot of people sign up for the Fast Track that week, it it ALSO gave them a MUCH smaller class and even days of one-on-one attention. I just want to counter the bad review below me. They don't "dunk" the children. They guide them under water, AFTER they've explained and make sure the child knows what is going on. My son was terrified of the water and having water on his eyes. They allow him to ALWAYS wear his goggles and even put them on him when he forgets to pull them over his eyes. After 2 lessons my son wanted to be in the water and now 10 lessons in, he's never once been scared of going under with the guidance of his instructors. All the Aquatots instructors are very friendly and helpful and love children. They have a very high patience level and make my son feel at ease. He's never been forced to go under or do anything out of his comfort zone. 5 stars AquaTots!

My son started here at age 5 and was unable to float or swim and was very hesitant getting started. Fast forward 9 months and he's leveled up and is doing great. The instructors are very encouraging to the kids. I recommend aqua tots in Schererville if you have young children and want to help get them started with learning how to swim and becoming more comfortable around water.

My 2 year old loves this place. The instructors are really good with the kids & if your not able to make a class you can call before class starts and schedule a make up!

They dunk the kids and make them jump in the water without there goggles on. There reasoning was explained to me as drowning prevention since kids won't always have goggles. But apprently they'll always have their swimsuit on. I was a lifeguard for four years and have been an avid swimmer my whole life. Needless to say we are much happier at the Ymca in Crown Point, it is cheaper an more common sense is applied.

Aqua-Tots has given my kids the confidence and the knowledge to become great swimmers! The instructors are fabulous, the place is very clean and well maintained. I absolutely love it here!
