Don’t bring your kids here if they can’t swim well because I can guarantee the lifeguards aren’t doing anything about drowning while fully dressed in sweat pants, slippers, and sweatshirts twidling their fingers.

I miss the NorthWest Y.
What a waste of space in this one. Open concept does not work. Crowded equipment, so close together. Turn the ceiling fans off. You are causing people to get sick, when we sweat, and having fans on us, is not good. And having your leaks from ceiling is not a good answer for keeping these fans on. Open concept creates so much noise upstairs coming from the basketball courts .

I’m gonna love the swimming pool there cause it’s a big swimming pool and I only went there today and got a membership and I got so excited about it and I can’t wait to start going there and I’m just gonna do swimming cause I have dreams about swimming and pools before and I’m also giving this place 5 starts they have friendly staffs there and when I first went in there everything looked clean and neat not dirty looking and I like going places that look clean and neat and I’m excited to start swimming there it’s gonna be so much fun and this will be a life changing for me as well this place will also make me feel better and I got my picture taken at the front desk

Great new facility for Muncie. The basketball courts are a huge improvement over NW and Downtown. The new equipment is nice. I love all the windows and natural light. The staff is great and Gretchen in particular is outstanding.

Overall 4 stars! The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. Plenty of workout options, the pool, the sauna, the steam room, the basketball courts etc! And going 24/7 soon. The unisex locker room kept it from 5 starts although I understand why it was done this way.

This facility looks nice on the inside and outside, but is highly disappointing with rules and how it’s being run.
On the weightlifting platforms while I was deadlifting, a staff member/class instructor made her way out of her class to tell me that ‘slamming the weights down is not allowed and that it shakes the whole building and is disruptive’. - mind you, i was not attempting to slam the weights down, just the force of the weight makes noise when it’s set back down on the platform. Not to mention the platforms are just a base with plywood and a rubber mat slapped on top that lifts up everytime you attempt to deadlift anyways.
Also equipment like the heavy bags and speed bags for boxing are trapped in one of the classrooms and can’t be used when other classes are in use (which is almost all the time). I have addressed this to see if they can move one out into a common area for people to use during those times and have received no feedback.
Not to mention the strict ‘dress code’ that staff will address with some people but not others, and wild children running all around the dressing/changing rooms, especially in the evening time, and the crazy parking situation and construction currently going on.
This list could very easily go on further but i will leave it at this.
Unfortunately very disappointed with many things at this new gym, and would probably not be going here if it wasn’t the only YMCA in Muncie and most convent gym here.

Customer Service needs much improvement
I purchased a family membership online. I go in person for the first time & Hailey greets me with “What’s Up?”

Talk about a jaw drop. I don’t know this young lady, never met her.

I was expecting a proper greeting such as, “Welcome in. How may I help you?”

Kamyrn who saw my facial reaction & paid attention to me sharing that I was new helped my offering me a proper greeting & walked me through a welcome packet and shared some of the offerings.

I really wish that those working the front desk really understand the assignment. You are the face of the business & the first impression of the company.

Greeting someone who is probably double your age with “What’s up?” Isn’t cute or inviting.

Not a fan at all, only reason I still have a membership is because of the Sauna. Staff there are very immature and laugh at problems. Parking lot wasn't re done with rest of construction. They decided to wait until after opening to do it and now there is practically no parking for any members. I had a very bad experience with this staff. Had a lady smack shoes out of my hands and I was the one who had to suffer a weeklong ban from this facility. Staff has very poor communication. Kids just about everywhere taking all the treadmills and wandering around. Highschool kids stand in groups chatting the entire time. Strict dress code. Honestly if you haven't signed up and only workout in the afternoon. DONT. Another reason why I have kept my membership is because I go in the mornings when its not packed.

Kids everywhere, unfriendly staff from 3-7:30 you can even get a workout in because there's kids running around on treadmills and just about every machine taken. Stupid dress code, they kicked me out and told me to leave for wearing crocs when I was headed to the sauna. Only benefit of this gym is the sauna everything else sucks. Staff is very unprofessional and all young adults who think because they are "managers" have the authority of an executive.

My gym partner got temporarily banned from this gym because a lady was upset at the basketball court that balls were near her. She went to the manager, proceeded to hit my friend as we were trying to leave. We got told by the manager they would do something if it happened again. However, that wasn’t the case when they wouldn’t let us in the gym until we talked to the manager this morning. We tried calling multiple times, but the manager never answered and told us to wait for the manager at 8am, and she didn’t even show up. We gave up at 8:30. We proceeded to call at noon and the employees specifically Lyla laughed while we were trying to resolve the issue. Super unprofessional. Mind the gym is really small and has particular dress codes.

The place is beautiful 😍 and spacious! Huge pool area and basketball court. They had office space and a clubhouse area with games and a refrigerator. The even had a massage pad in one of the chairs. They have lockers for your stuff without having to go into a dressing room! They also have an elevator! This new Y is AWESOME!!!
