If I could give zero star. They definitely deserve it. What I can say from the place stink to the coach who is there just to take all your money…be aware of first free lesson it’s a trap. Coach will persuade you to sign in once you don’t there is no refund.

I have driven past this dojo for several years and always thought about signing my daughters up for classes. Ten months ago I finally signed up for an introductory class. They offer parents to sign up for a minimal monthly fee so I joined as well. I never anticipated that I would enjoy these classes as much as I do! I wanted my daughters to build confidence, learn self defense and for us to learn something new together. We all enjoy attending and are building new skills with every class. Every instructor is passionate about teaching and make the classes enjoyable. I can't speak highly enough about the owner, the instructors and student leaders. This is a wonderful community to be a part of and I am so glad we joined. I just wish we would have started years ago!

My son is excited to go to Ken Piper's Family Karate Academy and attend 2 times a week. What the instructors teach and the way they teach is phenomenal with care and patience. My son continues to flourish in so many ways because of this organization. A great place to be. I recommend them wholeheartedly!

I have been a part of the Family Karate Academy for 2 years now. It has been an amazing time meeting new people and learning new skills. I have had the greatest pleasure training under some of the BEST instructors (Kyoshi Piper, Kyoshi Tuggle, amd Renshi Galan). From day one I have always felt welcomed and included. As an adult it has been great for my mental and physical health to start training in the martial arts. There is nowhere else I would want to train. Every opportunity I get to tell people about my karate journey I take it, and every time I always recommend Family Karate Academy whether it's kids or adults!
Thanks to everyone who makes it an awesome time!

All three of our children have had great experiences at Family Karate. They have flexible schedules, leadership training, traditional weapons classes and special class opportunities year round. The classes are mixed ages, but everyone is grouped by size and skill levels appropriately so there is always an opportunity to learn and develop mastery of a skill at each class without anyone feeling left out or pushed beyond what they can handle. As a parent, I have enjoyed seeing how students learn and support one another here. At a recent graduation ceremony when they arrived at the portion recognizing the black belts everyone in the dojo was cheering on the accomplishments and the hard work of these students--you can tell this is a supportive community that people love to be a part of!

My daughter has been attending classes here for almost two months now. She absolutely loves it! The Sensai’s are amazing! They are very knowledgeable and skilled. They hold the students to a certain standard which definitely furthers their sense of pride and responsibility. The dojo is clean and the perfect size for classes, not too big, not too small. There is a front area to sit if you have other children not attending classes with TVs so you can still view what’s going on in class. They offer flexible schedules, allowing us to choose how many times she attends classes and on what days. Very affordable too! I looked at several different dojos and am very happy I picked this one! By far the best, in my opinion.

I'm so glad we decided to drive a little further from home for our son Zach to learn karate at Family Karate Academy USA starting in January 2019. Sensei Piper and Sensei Galan have an amazing way of teaching skills, determination, discipline, respect, and confidence to students. Our son stepped onto the mat as a white belt with the goal of getting his black belt. He accomplished that goal because of Sensei Galan and Sensei Piper and their patience and skills. Once our son earned his black belt, he took a break for a year. He missed it so much that he started classes again, and they welcomed him back with open arms!

My two sons have taken karate here for about 1.5 years and love it. I took it for about a year, but dropped out due to work commitments. For myself, I noticed a great improvement in balance, flexibility, and the skillset to defend myself. I like how classes are flexible to attend throughout the week and how the classes rotate to teach different aspects of karate. Basics/Kata, Self Defense, and Sparring.

Started in August with my son. The goal was to learn self defense, and gain more confidence and self-discipline for him. They teach us how to set and achieve goals, along with providing us life skills, such as respect, discipline and as well as self-defense. Additionally, this is a family friendly place where parents can also train with kids. Their schedules are flexible, prices are reasonable and their karate program is brilliant. My son has been going here for years, other than a short break when he wasn't ready to move from Little Dragons (ages 3-7) to Beginners. My son asked to return, and now I've joined him. It is fun for the whole family, and very good exercise. Adding parents to a family plan is inexpensive. The Sensei's are great with kids, and keep it interesting for all. They help kids learn self-discipline, and good morals. I highly recommend them!

This was our 3 year old’s first experience with organized sports. He loves it! The classes are disciplined but fun. The kids, regardless of age, are held to high expectations and, as a result, my son takes karate very seriously. The opportunities to earn stripes and prize tickets incentives him and after each class he is proud of the skills he has accomplished. We appreciate the flexible class offerings as well as the way that the class leaders interact with the kids: it is so apparent how much they love working with the young ones and making karate a great all around experience. Only good things to say! Thank you Ken Piper & co (especially Israel, a big favorite!).

When our son asked about karate a year and a half ago, we visited about half a dozen dojos in the area. We chose Family Karate because of the flexible scheduling that allows us to choose which days we attend each week, including a Saturday morning option. Since we have three active kids, those schedule options have been critical for our family and allowed us to keep up our son's interest even on busy weeks.

Now that we've been at the dojo for almost two years, however, there's so much more we appreciate! Our son (8 years old) is in the youth program and is learning self defense, sparring, katas, and weapons. This is not just a show up and progress program, but the senseis provide individual attention to make sure everyone in the class is mastering each requirement and moving forward. Classes foster an environment of respect, but the senseis are also kind and make sure the students are having fun. Classes are mixed age, but students are matched with similar size and skill level opponents for sprawling.

Our son is learning respect, discipline, as well as the basics of karate. He has even attended one tournament where he won 2nd and 3rd place for his kata mastery in his age group against students from different dojos in the region. We couldn't be happier!

Great for kids! I don’t think I ever saw one unhappy kid there - they love it - all the while learning manners, respect, honor, and valuable self defense skills. Great for adults too - I enrolled at 56 years old, had a great time, got in great shape, and learned many things that have changed the person I am for the better. 5 stars!!!

I can’t express how much me and my family have gotten out of the time spent and training we have received. Me, my two youngest daughters and my wife all attend Family Karate USA and we have grown closer as a family since we can all interact with each and train together, at our own pace, to become black belts. What other extra curricular activities allow that type of environment? Sensei Piper and Sensei Galan are very knowledgeable in what they train and are absolutely superb at conveying the information to all the different age levels. I feel as well the style being trained is a very well structured, practical application of real life use if ever needed. Plus the environment they provide has offered many friendships to form in our Karate community and my class mates are absolutely family to me.

This is a great school. I'm very happy to be enrolled in it. The instructors are very courteous and caring, they make sure every student understands how to do what is taught and also have confidence they will be able to learn what is taught. The family atmosphere is great! I haven't seen any children have a bad time in class while they are learning manners and respect for themselves and others at the same time they are learning valuable self defense skills. The staff genuinely cares and works with every student to ensure they get the most out of their martial arts experience. The flexibility of choosing when and how much you go to class is also a very nice part of the package.

I want to make this a Really honest review
we were looking for a place that would let our 3 yr old join in the classes.(and our 5yr old)

Not many offered that. 2 places I believe?
Fanily karate was one of the choices.
We went there to check it out.
First impression of outside:
The outside is very nondescript. But who cares. We don't need glitter and glam. It's a karate joint.
First impression inside:
Walk in to a small carpeted room for shoes which leads to another room with front desk, sittin area, and then another room for karate "arena"
First thought. "Yuck. A good carpet scrub in this show area would do wonders for first impressions."
There was someone at the front desk to direct/guide where to go.
nice touch.
The instructors all seemed very personable and welcoming with a smile/hand shake. Another nice touch.
We Chatted about specifics/price/expectations and then "tried out" my two littles with instructor so the instructor could see if they had the attention span and could follow direction -which they did.

(They offer a discount if u pay all at once. Another nice touch.)

We Ended up signing up with them because we liked:
1) that they let me bring the kids every day if I wanted for same price as once a week.
2) The classes are fun for the kids. They do punches, kicks, and blocks. Along with running games, jumping games, etc to get the sillies out. (Classes vary and seem to have 3-10 kids)
3) teachers exhibit a lot of Patience with the kids but also push manners such as sir/ma'am/thank you/eye contact/Etc. In a gentle manner
4) Parents can opt to take home a paper weekly to write what chores/tasks kids do own own or with parent direction or if they refused to listen. Then patent brings in to class and teacher reads aloud to either reward (sticker) or remind to do better with promise of a reward sticker the following week (if do better)
*As they explained it helps maintain congruency between discipline in class and home.
5) there are seats outside of classroom where parents can sit to watch child during class

We've been there a few months and my kids beg to go almost daily which speaks volumes to us as parents.

I don't know what other karate places are like, but my kids REALLY like it here and we are satisfied too.

Definitely worth trying out! I'm glad I looked past the aesthetics because this place really is awesome!
