This place is clean with amazing friendly staff!! I would absolutely recommend Fit Stop in kendallville to anyone looking for a place to work out!! Not to mention it being opened 24/7 so it works for anyone's schedule!!

The gym is somewhat nice but some of the machines are missing are racking pegs the cables are falling apart and it needs to be updated as soon as possible. The handles on some machines as well are starting to peel off with some black disgusting gunk underneath them there’s a fat holes in the walls that needs to be repaired as well I’ve been going there for almost 2 years and it still hasn’t been fixed…

I left a 3 star review several months ago. I have since had to drop that review to one star. This gym, while cheap and convenient, is neglected.

Several machines missing racking pegs. Handles on machines falling off leaving behind a sticky residue that is so annoying it renders some machines completely unusable. I left a note about it on the desk several months ago, with a note that later said they would be fixed. several months later they go unfixed.

During staffed hours, I find that toilet paper in the restroom is empty, and spray bottles to clean machines are empty.

What alarms me the most, the tanning rooms in this establishment do NOT have working locks. The owner expects the customer to use a small “vacant” and “occupied” sign. that many other patrons ignore. On more than one occasion i have attempted to lock the door with the occupied sign on, and have still been walked in on while tanning

I really like this gym, it has great community and it’s exceptionally clean. there is a variety in equipment. I just wish that this gym was shown a little more maintenance and care.

The owner of this gym comes off as insecure and unwilling to own up to mistakes and genuine problems with the facility when explicitly laid out for him, like the fact the his employees are allowing people to cancel memberships and leading them to believe their contract is up, not to mention the fact that a contract isn’t legally binding when signed by a minor with no parent signature. Instead he resorts to mentioning the amount of money put into the gym (who knows what that money’s being put into) and insult the member’s competence regarding the effort it takes to run an establishment. Truth is the machines are often in desperate need of repair while most do not receive any and the ones that do immediately need repair again. The facility is often not cleaned thoroughly especially in the bathrooms and on machines and gunk appears throughout the gym.

This gym is a nice luxury for Kendallville considering it is open 24 hours and there is not a lot traffic (good for newcomers), however the establishment is being ran by individuals who are not polite and only truthfully care about their appearance to the public. After being told I was not under a contract and that I was okay to cancel my membership (due to my financial situation), I got continuous spam calls and texts regarding an unpaid balance. I did not think much of it until I received a text from the owner saying that if I (a 17 year old), did not pay my fees then I’d be turned over to collections. Not only was it abrupt, but when I had brought up that the person working the front desk had told me otherwise, the owner states, “If I had a dollar for every time a member told me ‘the person at the front desk said…’ I’d be wealthy.” Then proceeds to be condescending regarding my financial situation. If this is a frequent occurrence, it might be best to go over policies so that the helpful front desk employees know what to look for and don’t get thrown under the bus. This facility is compensating for the money and effort put into this facility, while there is a lot to make up for regarding the interaction towards the members that go/went there. Best of luck if you are attempting to leave, they really are hurting for your $50.

I'd like this to be a warning to any prospective members:

You may enjoy this gym while you're here, despite the gross bathrooms and mysterious gunk on the equipment, but when the time comes to cancel your membership you may as well just screw yourself because they'll do it for you otherwise.

My father, best friend, and girlfriend all experienced difficulties canceling their memberships. While the people working the front desk have been nothing but pleasant and helpful, one of them did mistakenly tell my 17 year old girlfriend that she was not under contract, and would thus be able to cancel her membership. Fast-forward to several months later, she's been messaged by the owner, not politely reminding her of an unpaid balance she was unaware of, but threatening to report her to a collection agency for the sum of 57 dollars.

My girlfriend, a high school student, is understandably low income, only working part time, and was unable to pay the sum. She told this to the owner, and his response was "It is hard to believe you do not have 57 dollars, sorry. If that is your position and you are not willing to pay what you owe I will forward the account to a collection agency... Are you sure you want to go that route for 57 dollars?"

My father, likewise was threatened with legal action despite believing he had canceled his account months earlier.

It's a shame to see an otherwise decent gym tarnished by such petty ownership, but that is the reality and it makes it hard for me to want to keep going there.

I mean really, who threatens small claims on a 17 year old girl with no warning or attempt at empathy?

This facility is dirty and not well kept. People consistently leave equipment laying around and you have to pick up after other people just to access the machines. The owner opened a new gym in Ligonier and since then, the this gym has gone down hill fast. It takes weeks for equipment to be fixed and I rarely see workers inside. If it wasn't for the fact that all my gym buddies go there I would have switched gyms long ago.

They have stopped cleaning the bathrooms, the machines are not kept up to date and are very old, you get black oil on you hands, and the handles are ripped, they stopped playing music over the whole gym like they used to because they are not keeping it up to par. The bathrooms have been dirty for weeks and the tanning and red light therapy beds do not get cleaned. The AED hasn’t been fixed for months, yet that could save someone’s life… Also, the ab room doesn’t get cleaned, the mats to stretch and workout on are so old and oily and torn up it’s gross. The cubbies for your stuff are not clean.

Love this gym and the choice of machines!
The hours aren’t accurate though so I would recommend calling first if you want to be able to talk to someone.
Cleanliness could improve for sure but need to keep in mind that it is a gym lol it’s difficult to keep clean.

I like that you can workout when you want to workout
Update: We are having trouble with a few kids and the owner is clearly not paying attention. He's been told about a dozen times and won't do anything.
Kids come in and use a speaker, blaring really loud. My husband asked them to use headphones instead and they tried to start a physical fight with us. Two grandparents. Can you imagine. Owner clearly doesn't care.

I paid for a full year over $500 for me and my wife have not used it once and because they are "under new ownership" and after about 7 calls from me and 2 solid weeks waiting on a call back, called them again just to be ignored again. The owner said he'd call me back with an answer from the franchiser about whether he was ALLOWED. To give me any money back. Again not used once and this is the new owner. I've been waiting on an answer for about a month and a half now. Don't waste your money

Place is really going downhill. Bathrooms don’t get cleaned. Watered down gym cleaner, towels are filthy and nasty. Toilet in women’s restroom is leaking. Equipment that doesn’t work. Clearly management is not checking up on this facility.

I gave it a 3 star because the cancellation process is a pain in the @$$. We moved out of town in February and I emailed the admin email about cancelling and the payment kept coming out. I had my one year contract up by then. The payment came out again in March and I assumed that was my one year. When the payent came out again in April I called and she stated I had to come in to cancel. Well we dont live near an Eastlake anymore so i had to get off early to go in. I printed the email where I inquired about cancelling and they never responded with the information about canceling. Overall good place to workout but I feel gipped out of the last 2 months of payments I have made thinking I had canceled the membership.
