Planet Fitness in Valparaiso has been a great place for me to work out, and the staff deserves recognition. Nolan, the trainer, really knows his stuff and makes everyone feel comfortable, and Jarett, the manager, is always smiling and clearly leads his team well. I also want to acknowledge Vanessa, Peyton, and Matt, who are always on the move and keeping the gym clean and inviting whenever I’m there. It’s nice to walk into a place where people genuinely care about what they’re doing.

I love this planet fitness location. Its a clean and welcoming environment. The staff are excellent and tend to us well. I have the black card, and have been loving using the amenities. One of the best decisions I made was booking with Nolan, our personal trainer, where he created a workout plan for me that is tailored to my specific needs. He's encouraging and challenges me to succeed and grow towards my goals. I've lost weight, gained muscle and strength in my body. Even through injury and recovery, Nolan has helped me grow stronger and rest when I need to. He's very knowledgeable and good at what he does. I'm very grateful that I made the decision to come back to pllanet fitness and stick to my goals.

There is always a man cleaning the ladies room. Women don’t get any privacy here. It’s been going on for over a year while there are women working the front desk. It’s not even a staffing issue. Very annoying that you can’t even change in the womens locker room because there’s always a man in there cleaning.

MADE ME PAY $1000!!!

I went to the gym here and accidentally broke the mirror there. Their decline bench didn’t have any wheels to assist in rolling it, and I accidentalIy tapped the mirror and cracked it. I already felt really bad for doing that, and the manager came over and made it an even more terrible experience for me. He came up to me and was shaking his head in disgust and wouldn’t answer any of my questions about it. I was just standing there next to him completely lost and embarrassed. I know a lot of people at the gym and everyone was watching me how he was treating me and it was extremely embarrassing. I then went to the counter where he was at and asked him again for the third time what I should do, and he kept shaming me and shaking his head with a disgusted look again, and didn’t answer any of my questions. I was still standing there and asked the other worker at the counter what I should do and said they can't help me. I walked away and finished my workout until I finally got an answer 2 hours later which is completely ridiculous. Regardless, anyone shouldn't be shamed and treated the way I was after accidentally breaking something. The way I was treated there was so wrong.

Be careful if you break anything on accident, they WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR IT!

It's always overcrowded in the evening and it's much smaller than the other planet fitness around. I use to go to the one in Valpo because it's close but now I just take the 20 min drive to Merrillville. It's not overcrowded and much cleaner.

Been coming to this location for several years. They have updated nothing I know they are making plenty of money Place is usually always have members working out. Haven’t fixed any of the tanning beds. The lounge couch looks like it came out of a trap house in the hood. Tanning beds are always broken. Seriously thinking of changing home gym locations.

I love the staff here. They're so friendly and they take good care of the equipment. I travel a LOT and I've seen Planet's around the country. The Valpo staff is exceptional and they care about the condition of the equipment. I really appreciate the care Christian takes with the guests. You can tell he takes pride in his work!

Edit: Nolan is an awesome addition! He's super thoughtful in his fitness plans and is very attentive, checking in on his clients regularly. Fun and easy to work with. Great plans!

Update Response to owner: I used the gym and my 1 star is going to stay. The gym is packed with about a few dozen too many cardio machines especially elliptical machines which about 3 were being used of the dozens. The extra space could be used in the freeweight area which was crammed with people, so full I accidentally bumped the fire extinguisher because i was so crammed in the corner trying to move so someone could rerack their dumbells. There are few cable machines and two of the pullies were broke on the 360s in the corner. Some basic maintenance could umjam the cables but 🤷 I guess that dosent help the bottom line. Also the clock is broken, not important in the age of phones but really a statement about the lack of love maintaining this place. Staff is nice, that's a plus. I guess that's why they get 1 star

I love planet fitness. At first I was really intimidated but the staff is very friendly. Christian was a huge help and is always very welcoming to members and very knowledgeable about the gear. The place is huge with plenty of machines. I've never had to wait for anything here.

Everyone is there for one reason, to get in or stay in shape. The staff and patrons all keep their distance and respect each other's space and goals.

I work out here 7 days a week and it's always clean, well staffed by friendly folks.

I have always had a good experience with the staff at PF. But today I encountered a young man setting on a machine talking with someone on his phone. I went to another machine finished and then had to ask him to get off machine he was setting on. As much as I didn't mind asking him to move, I don't feel it should be my job monitoring people on the phone when you have 3 staff standing behind the desk just talking. I would suggest at least one staff member walking through making sure guests don't have any problems. Like I said just a suggestion.

I like coming to this gym. The full body red light therapy stall is great. It helps your skin and tones your body. The tanning beds and stand up are nice. There isn't usually a wait most of the time. I wish there was better music though. The deep tissue massage chairs are so nice. They lean all the way back and even massage your arms! The hydrotherapy beds are ok. I don't use them as much. All the equipment is great and hardly a wait for a machine. If I want a quick 30 minute workout, they have a specific area just for that which I do on occasion. I like to use the elliptical and watch tv. There are a good variety of shows to watch. I wish there had Bluetooth capability. I would come a LOT more often if there were workout classes and/or a personal trainer. Overall, the gym is pretty clean, the staff is very nice and its convenient because the bus stops right there.
