About a year ago we made the unfortunate decision to send our daughter to the Flip Zone following a raving review from our close friends. After only 3-4 weeks it was clear to us that we needed to pull our daughter out, because something clearly wasn’t right.

At the time our daughter was only 2 years old and was peeing but not going #2 on the potty yet, and we told them about this up front to which they said it was “ok” for the young threes class she was enrolled in. If you had ever met our daughter you would know she is one of the most lively, obedient, and excitable children out there, but every day when we would pick her up she had clearly been crying and acted more like a zombie. Begging not to return the following day.

Being that this was her first experience in a “preschool” setting, and she was young enough that she wasn’t able to completely communicate the problem, we decided to give it a couple weeks in hopes it was just nerves but things did not get better. We ultimately trusted our instincts as her parents and decided to remove her after seeing Miss Cara in action at a field trip. We immediately noticed the way she spoke to the children and the genuine fear of our child when she saw her teacher from across the parking lot.

Many months later we discovered the devastating reason(s) for her emotions surrounding school, which long term has caused her to fear both going to school and using the potty. We found out from another teacher at the Flip Zone that one of our daughter’s teachers, Miss Cara, was constantly screaming at our daughter and removing her from the other children to do so. Specifically yelling at her for not going on the potty, despite being told she didn’t need to be potty trained to be enrolled and for holding her favorite stuffed tiger or otter at school, despite never being asked to keep her favorite plush at home. To the credit of this other teacher, she tried to comfort her after she saw this happening.

Looking back, we wish we would have removed her much sooner after hearing some of the strange things our daughter was trying to tell us when she got home, but lacked the language skills to do so as two year old, and the way we saw Miss Cara treating her when we were around.

I hope this has been confined only to our experience, as it has caused a great deal of long term struggles for a wonderful child. We have never experienced this kind of thing anywhere else that she has attended.

We feel extremely betrayed by an organization that promised to love, nurture, and teach our child. It is difficult to imagine extending this delicate trust again after having been harmed so greatly. We hope the school chooses to seriously evaluate their staff and their treatment of students, especially the teacher in question, and even go so far as to remove this teacher if major changes do not occur.

They don’t work with the kids individually at all. It’s too fast pace and definitely not worth the money. Premier Academy is much better and more affordable!

I have my oldest enrolled here and she has been going for about 3 months and has loved it. After watching his big sister, my 3 year old son kept asking if he could do gymnastics. I decided to sign him up for a trial class before enrolling him to make sure he actually enjoyed it. We went to the trial class and I went up to the staff and informed them that he was there for his trial day. Once they started, he was basically ignored the entire time. All of the instructors just jumped into their normal routine that all of the other children were familiar with, but of course, my son had no idea what he was supposed to be doing and no one corrected him or helped him. They moved on to the next activity and again, he was ignored. I understand that the instructors each had 4 children to handle, but if all of the others are familiar with the exercises and know what they are doing and only require minimal assistance, it would have been nice for them to help him out a little bit. We left about halfway into the trial and we won’t be back. I am now considering taking my daughter to a different place where her brother will also be welcomed.

TFZ is by far the best in the area! We are from Indy, however lived in SWFL until Hurricane Ian in 2022. Shortly after Ian hit we decided it was best to come back “home” last minute causing us to find a gym for our daughter who was already competing USAG in SWFL. I stumbled upon meeting Stephanie (the owner) who was also in FL at the time starting up TFZ of SWFL. She along with everyone from TFZ welcomed our daughter (& us) with open arms and was so kind to accommodate her throughout the sudden transition! We are forever grateful! She is now going into season 3 with TFZ and loves it! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a gym either recreational or competitive!

My daughter has been going to The Flip Zone for over 3 years. She has been in multiple classes (parent/tot, recreational, and team) and we have had great experiences in all areas. I specifically appreciate TFZ’s diligence to reflect on what is working (or what is not) and make adjustments- whether it is class placement, class size, exercises or practice techniques during class, etc. In addition to gymnastics and tumbling classes, TFZ also offers camps during school breaks, open gym, and is a great venue for birthday parties! We are thrilled to be a part of the TFZ family!

My daughter had been on the USAG optionals team at The Flip Zone for more than a year now. The move to this gym was a big change since she had only been at one other gym for nearly 7 years. However, the change was so easy because of the coaches, staff, and other athletes (and their parents). She was welcomed immediately and felt a part of the team. The coaches are amazing and have open communication. They are also understanding, flexible, and compassionate. The gym runs really well and professionally which makes it easy as a parent. My daughter thrived this year. She's been happy which is so important as she spends 16 hours a week at the gym. She has gained a lot of confidence in her skills as well. We love that there are more advanced gymnasts for her to look up to and that she can be an example to the younger athletes. We are so happy with our time at The Flip Zone.

We have a daughter at the Flip Zone who has been competing for MANY years, ever since she was two years old. We have loved watching her grow up in the gym. She has been a state champion a few times in her career. The coaches are so supportive, knowledgable, passionate and hardworking. The owner is incredibly kind and generous, who continually reinvests in the gym with new equipment and facilities. The gymnasts support each other. We have been very pleased and would recommend this gymnastics family to anyone.

Our journey with TFZ started in August 2017, when my oldest daughter started Shooting Stars Gym n Learn, the preschool. We enrolled her not only in the preschool but later on in gymnastics classes as well. Her journey is still going strong today. She started with recreational gymnastic classes, pre team and team. She has been a competitive gymnast with TFZ for 4 years now. My son attended SSGNL as well. He took rec gymnastics classes for many years. When he got older he enjoyed the rec Ninja classes very much. My youngest daughter attended SSGNL as well. She loves the rec gymnastics and tumbling classes.

We've been with TFZ almost 9 years. My daughter has been involved with competitive gymnastics for 6 years now. We've experienced a variety of coaches along the competitive gymnastics journey. Irving is the head coach of the program who's passion and love for the sport is infectious. They have built a program that is proven in building exceptional athletes. Highly recommend anyone wanting to join this gym that it's a must. Many people travel to attend this gym due to the coaching talent, atmosphere, and training program.

My daughters favorite thing in the whole world is gymnastics. I feel like the parents here are not very easily avoidant people. No one talks, no one chats, just pure silence & really no communication with the instructors. I just moved closer to the location so I’ll probably come back but it’s only for my daughter. I promised her to get into gymnastics….so wish there was just a more welcoming experience.

We moved from out of state and began the search for a new gym. After interviewing SEVERAL gyms in the Indy and surrounding areas my daughter and I both agreed that Flip Zone was the most welcoming. We have been part of The Flip Zone family for nearly two years now and I know we made the right choice. She loves going to practices and because she’s on team there she spends a LOT of time there. The owner is also wonderful and has always communicated with me with professionalism and kindness. We live on the south side and drive 45 minutes each way 4 days a week just to be in The Flip Zone family and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

My daughter is on team lvl 6 since we had to switch gyms due to Covid. We drive, with our carpool, 45 minutes to be at this gym. We have had nothing but great experiences with this gym. The coaches are extremely motivating and my daughter has learned much from them. She was co captain last year and a captain this year for her team. I read one review in which a parent was bashing TFZ for parents being on their phones and not conversing with other parents. I’m not really sure how that is a fault of TFZ. That doesn’t take away from the energy, discipline or determination of the coaches. There is a reason why our teams come home with mainly 1st and 2nd place team trophies…not to mention the MANY podium medals all the girls take home. I believe TFZ will continue to make great headway in this field and we are already becoming well known for not only our great gymnasts, but our awesome coaches. Both have been complimented at meets for being amazing and caring. And that is what I have looked for and have found. Thank you to all our coaches, gymnasts and gymnast families! We are super happy with where we are!

I grew up in the sport of gymnastics. Both as a gymnast and as a coach, I have been involved with recreational and competitive gymnastics (both club and high school) almost my entire life. My daughter is currently in her first season on the competitive team at the Flip Zone. I cannot stress enough the high level of professionalism, organization, and team work shown by the staff/coaches. 10/10 stars for SSGNL - my 7 year old went through it and is doing so great in elementary school! My 4 year old is currently in his second year and will finish out with pre-k next year just in time for my baby to start. All of the teachers are so great at keeping the kiddos engaged and learning in a meaningful way for the different age levels!

We've done years of rec classes, and one year of team there as well and have overall positive experiences with coaches and staff. Coach Katie H is truly amazing! My son had her for 3's gymnastics and she took the time to help him warm up every class and never shamed him for his shy personality. Even going above and beyond to make sure he got his favorite color dot each time so he'd be more inclined to participate. This year my daughter has had her for Level 2 and has become completely attached to her. She has the biggest heart and more patience than a Saint!

We moved to TFZ 3 years ago and we are so glad that we did! My daughter has grown so much as a gymnast and she has loved every minute of it! Before coming to TFZ, my daughter began to lose her love for the sport. Since being at TFZ, she has regained her love for gymnastics and is motivated to become the best gymnast she can be! Our daughter started in recreational gymnastics at TFZ and has now been on team for 2 seasons. She has made incredible friendships and developed so many invaluable life skills. My daughter switched to this gym back in June. We drive over an hour to get here, and it is completely worth it! The owner and coaches are very knowledgeable, kind, professional, and their attention to detail goes far above what our expectations were. Rude staff, they locked 20+ 8-11 year old boys in a tiny room because we did the gifts and snacks to early. They all had to play in that tiny room for an hour because they were not aloud back in the gym area...

We brought our 3 year old son here for another boy's birthday party and ended up signing him up for a gymnastics class. He really enjoys it. There is all of the typical gymnastics equipment and more including a "ball" pit which is a large pit with a bunch of foam blocks. The kids all love it.
