Very nice facility. Family friendly. Nice equipment. Kids love the water slide and pool. The outdoor water park is a plus. The gym equipment is as good as any other gym at twice the price

Oversold memberships, the gym gets over crowded. Machines are constantly in disrepair taking weeks to fix them. Even the new machines they just installed are already getting broken. It's getting increasingly difficult to use this facility, we've gone there several times to use the gym only to turn around and leave immediately because of the lack of available equipment.

Love everything about the YMCA besides the smoothie bar/cafe. Today was my first time seeing this cafe, so i thoughtβ oh coolβ and decided to try it. I walked up to the counter and was not greeted at all. I asked the young lady if I could place my order. She responds β Iβm doing something right nowβ ( with an attitude) so I asked her β what do you mean?β she replyβs β I have 3 people to do firstβ. How am i supposed to know that?? its not what she said, its how she said it. Then her coworker walked up ( a little older lady, wearing a peach shirt) and the young girl starts to whisper to her, after they finished whispering she asked me β what would you likeβ. I just walked out because what?ππ very distasteful. As adults, very embarrassing , she is more than lucky that i decided to walk away, i usually don't do that but I had such a good workout, i couldnβt let the miserable bring me down! .Like i said I love the YMCA even the check in people are so nice but i donβt think ill ever order a smoothie from the cafeππΎππΎ This happened around 11am

The facility is impressive, but after visiting as a guest 3 times, I have decided not to get a membership. The micro managing is a constant hindrance to our experience.
This is particularly an issue in the pool area. Lifeguards persist to dictate how we are allowed to play with our own children, as well as multiple other overreaching rules. There has also been an issue with sexism. The amount of micromanaging increases greatly when I, the mother, is in the pool, as opposed to when their father is. They tend to leave him alone and respect him more. This went so far as him being allowed to relax in hot tub for a few minutes however, when I went to the hot tub, I was scolded for not watching my children. This is disheartening. I sent an email to the YMCA, regarding this issue, the first couple times it happened. Unfortunately, it continues to be an issue.
I just wanted to point out that all of our children can swim.
All that the ymca has to offer is overshadowed by the staffs lack of respect for women and parenthood in general.

If I wanted a revisit of my terrible high school years, this would be the best place to do it. Teenagers run amok with no supervision, and the staff themselves are comprised of kids. I've had to tell off a young girl for taking pictures of me in the locker room and staff did nothing about her conduct even despite comments about my weight and age. As if that were justification for it. Teens and even younger are also allowed to run wild in the gym areas, climbing and grabbing at equipment while it's in use and screaming bloody murder tantrums when adults ask them to wait their turns or move out of the way. It's complete madness, like a daycare and highschool rolled into one but anything but a welcoming gym experience. Ruined by unruly guests and an apathetic staff who act like their gigglefest at the front desk is more important than their jobs. Never going to another YMCA again after my experience here.

I have been a member here for a few years and the last few months I have watched the building go down hill. The men's locker room showers are beyond disgusting filled with bugs and mold and I have mentioned this to the front desk numberous times. I have also witnessed a bald black man who I think is from the corporate office speak down on the women at the front desk on multiple occasions now. He walks around like he owns the building with a meanmug on his face and treats the female staff as if they are beneath him. When he comes around I can tell the ladies feel uncomfortable and the whole atmosphere changes. Whoever that guy is hopefully he doesn't stick around for to long.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing exceptional customer service when I thought I had lost a valuable item of clothing at This YMCA. The staff member Marisa went above and beyond to help me locate my lost item, searching high and low until it was finally found tucked away in a corner.
I was impressed by Her dedication and kindness throughout the entire process. She was patient and understanding, making sure to keep me updated every step of the way. Their professionalism and willingness to assist me in finding my lost item truly made a lasting impression on me.
Thanks to their efforts, I was able to retrieve my lost item and leave the Y feeling grateful and satisfied. I find it incredibly rare to find this amount of dedication and perseverance from someone and wanted nothing in return. I can not be any more thankful for Marisa and All of the other staff members.

Good costumer service, why I give a 4? Because when you are working out in the gym, the staff literally turns on and off the lights when you are working out you can get injured from that.

They really need to find new people to work the front desk. The folks currently at the front desk are pretty rude. Not sure what's up with the passive aggressive demeanor they all seem to have, like they're just waiting to catch someone trying to sneak in and treat every member like they're the one sneaking someone in. They act like they get a bonus for everyone they catch sneaking in, the problem is, no one's sneaking in. Give it a rest.
Literally just scanned in right in front of the guy, it worked fine, didn't stop him from rudely stopping me to tell me I need to scan in. I pointed out I just did and he acts like I'm the one who caused the mix up with his snarky comment. Really getting tired of feeling like I'm doing something wrong when I walk thru the door here. Time for new people or possibly more friendly training? It's getting ridiculous, day after day. It's like they think they work at a prison.

Seems like most people are coming here to sit on machines and socialize. It's getting increasingly difficult to work out as you're forced to wait on people who would rather talk amongst themselves while taking up machines/weights instead of actually working out and moving on with their lives.

My family and I are members of the Portage Ymca so we decided to come to the open swim here at the Crown Point one. We were very disappointed that because all the lifeguards were busy outside with the water park indoor swim was closed. The website said both were open so here we sir waiting till 5pm to be able to use the outdoor pool. Someone should be updating the website

Itβs pretty damn bad bad when you have six employees at night, didnβt do nothing to keep that building nice and clean. He just had a good employee just walk out because they canβt do the job shift and nobody can get a hold of anybody. Take care of this problem.

Unfortunately, there is no supervision for the weight machines. That enables members to sit on them and rest for several minutes. Meanwhile , others are forced to wait not only for them to do their reps, but to go through their extended rest periods. That is frustrating because it's a hindrance for others .They should be told to get off the equipment and sit somewhere else to rest, since they are displaying a complete lack of consideration for others. The proper etiquette is to do a set of reps, get off of the machine , stand by it as you do your resting, then continue when you are done resting. At the very least, there should be signs posted in the area regarding resting on the equipment, as to allow other members to work in. That way, any misunderstandings and possible confrontations can be avoided. If it was not for this significant concern, I would give the place a 4-5 star rating.

I just joined this YMCA a week ago. It's a very nice, clean & spacious facility. I joined to play pickleball and a few other things. The receptionist on the west end of the facility is the perfect person to have present to greet members. This YMCA has a lot to offer members - both young & seniors. If you're looking for a place to work out and socialize while doing so, this is the place to be.
It's a good place to become physically fit and active.
