I like this one I’m one that stops in the very early mornings. Equipment is good. Only down fall is there’s a person that sits in their car outside either on their phone or sleeping. Since going to this gym have only seen him inside three times and none of the times using the equipment. Has Minnesota plates on his car and it’s honestly creepy.

Only giving four stars because it is a smaller location, but they do make the absolute most of it. Equipment is arranged to maximize the space. Not ideal when it gets busy, but always clean, staffed, and maintained.

Most of the one-Star reviews for this location are complaints about the contract that really have nothing to do with a location - it’s your own fault if you signed a contract and didn’t read the terms.

If you want to break your neck tripping over weights left on the floor by the disorganized exercise class this place if for you. One particular member 6ft tall lady, almost went face first into weight after tripping over a 50lb weight. Awful members and staff does nothing for your safety. Don't join. No gym manners.

If you ever try to end your membership, you have to jump through hoops to get it canceled. Also you have to go through a second party website that they don’t tell you about when get the membership. They charge you for another month even after you have cancelled the membership. Seems like a racket, make sure your membership isn’t an open ended one, I was never told that, I was told I could cancel anytime and I thought it would be with North Liberty location since that’s where I started my membership. I don’t recommend this spot

KJ did a literal backflip during my training session to teach me some weird lesson about hard work and dedication. 10/10 would recommend.

Don’t sign up at this location. The incessant nagging is overwhelming. The female ‘personal trainer’ (pyramid scheme pusher) takes it as a personal attack when you tell her 4x to STOP CALLING.

Constantly calling to ask about joining personal training services. It’s like I signed myself up for spam calls/texts 4x/wk just because of these jokers.

I have been contacting this business for over 6 years attempting to cancel my membership with no response. I have sent letters, made phone calls adn sent emails to no avail so maybe a poor customer service rating will make them more responsive, Considering charging them with theft. My condo flooded adn I lost the paperwork for my membership and was o a month to month membership. I no longer live near a center so have been paying $41 a month for 8 years and
have not been able to sue it for 6 that is $2,952.

They lie about their membership prices and don’t send you the agreement until after you call to complain. I was charged double the price that was quoted by the staff member who signed me up. The gym itself is tiny with old equipment, and it’s nearly impossible to use anything but the treadmills if you aren’t the only person there. Go to the Coralville location instead, but even that one isn’t the worth the price they actually charge

Wasn’t notified until after signing the contract that the commitment is two years, decided to cancel the next day to avoid a $250 cancellation fee. Was told by the staff member that if I don’t invest in myself now that I will be dependent on doctors and prescription drugs for the rest of my life. Interesting sales tactic.

I joined Anytime Fitness at the end of March . Been taking coaching 1on 1 , two times a week . I always wanted to be able to push ups , become healthier , tone up . I love the accountability and encouragement . I love everything about the gym , friendly faces , cleanliness . When I started I was a size 36 in waist and now I am 28. I love that Kevin , my trainer is patient and designs the workouts to meet your goals . I always have so much fun working out , thank you Kevin .

North Liberty Anytime is more than a gym. Kevin and Jeremy have created a welcoming and inclusive family home gym energy-experience. I am only here for a few months but they have encouraged me along my fitness/life journey and have worked with me in personal training sessions to keep me on track and help me reach my goals. Awesome gym love that it is 24 hrs. Staff is so professional and friendly. Always clean every single time I go in sanitizer wipes always stocked. Trainers work with your schedule and easily adjust work outs to fit you . Small town gym with big city equipment a place you can really appreciate.

The new staff is better than I had ever hoped for! Everyday there’s a warm welcoming environment in the club and ready to help with whatever is needed. This is anything from entailing little tips and tricks to various workouts, to just saying hi and hoping we all have a great day. The club has always been a clean facility and keeping everyone up to date with current changes. If there’s anything I ever need the AF staff is readily available and communicating on the spot. I was a member about 8yrs ago(when Anytime NL was under different ownership) and ended up leaving because they severely disappointed me in every aspect. However, due to convenience and noticing the sign "under new ownership" outside, I decided to go in and do a tour to see if anything had changed. I was blown away at all the improvements they had made to the gym. Not only was the owner on top of it, but everything he said he was going to add(they were still acquiring equipment when I did my tour) he followed through on and is now in the gym. Equipment is high quality, good layout for how small it is, very functional and clean space. Another thing I loved right off the bat was how the front desk staff greets you, but also gets to know you. If I was out of town traveling and wasn't in the gym, they noticed and would send me a text to see how I was doing. Great for accountability! I also did some training sessions with Kevin in preparation for a backpacking trip with some grueling hiking. He was very knowledgeable and came up with a great plan to get me going and switchup my own stale workouts. Overall, I am so glad to see the dramatic positive changes the new owner made with this gym and to see quality staff who care. I'm happy to be a patron here.

This gym treated me very well while I was there and when I had to relocate to another town. Travis is an outstanding owner who is very personable, and stays on top of the gym maintenance. Anything you need from equipment refurbishing to advice their staff is there to help with excellent customer service. When I relocate I will definitely resign for a new membership with this gym solely because of this staff here in north liberty. When I went in to cancel my membership Travis was very understanding and got straight to the point with no bs. If you’re considering joining a new gym I would 10/10 recommend joining this anytime fitness here in north liberty.

Over the past 6 months I’ve been looking at joining various gyms, and trying a couple of them out, and this has the most welcoming and professional one. This gym helped push me to develop gym habits I’ve never had before. Also, the other members are very respectful.
I’m much more impressed with how this AF is run compared to the Coralville facility.

Haven't been back since pre-pandemic and it's since re-opened with new management. It's changed so much for the better. Equipment and building is much cleaner. New ownership/management is actually present during the week to have a conversation and be personable. You can safely disregard any reviews of this North Liberty location from before the new owners took over. Also, they're getting another squat rack soon. This will be my "home" anytime fitness for the foreseeable future. Great to be back in the gym.

I used to go to AF in Iowa City but I recently moved to North Liberty and Kevin the Iowa City manager happened to move too. He took over management and I promise if you've ever had a bad experience with AF to come back and talk to him. He's a great guy and he's working on getting more equipment for the gym. 10/10 recommend this place.

I enjoy the smaller gyms and this is perfect without being too overcrowded. They have been adding new machines and even put in a new hydro-bed. I’ve only been here since it reopened under new management but it’s very clean and accommodating. The staff is professional and nice.

Great small space for a morning workout- clean and has the perfect amount of equipment. Weight space is perfect for 3-4 people to comfortably navigate lifts around each other- which is a typical attendance in the morning from what I see. Management is nice and easy to get on with- along with other members.

Was a member at this site but switched to the other locations near where I live so that I wouldn't have to deal with this owner anymore. On top of that they closed this location, possibly temporarily, possibly for good without putting any kind of an update in Google. So if you are looking to go here I would suggest going to the other Iowa City locations as this one is now closed.

I've been going here for 3 years and when it staffed it's been nice and clean, but the past few months they haven't had anyone and it has gotten to be filthy. Dirty toilets, cobwebs, dirty floors. Very disappointing. My message to the manager over a week ago about this issue has gone unanswered.

I was a member at another franchise that was a little smaller than the North Liberty location but was nicer, cleaner and had better equipment. All that aside I am being relocated for work and their cancellation process is miserable, time consuming and inconvenient. This business practice is meant to prey upon the busy consumer in the efforts to elongate the payment process so the franchise owner can squeak out a few more payments. This one franchise has totally ruined the entire Anytime Fitness experience for me and I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

Just know that you are signing up for life. My job took me to another state and I am still trying to cancel, four months later.

At first they said I just needed to send them 2 forms of mail with my new address. Did that. Then they said no, your contract was for a year so you can't be out until October. Ok fine, a contract is a contract.

Now its November and they are saying I need to send them a written letter and send it to them via certified mail?!?! The hoops are endless. Time to google "certified mail," what century are they living in? TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

Average gym with nice employees. Don't be fooled though, the employees don't handle cancellations. They send you STRAIGHT to ABC Financial. ABC Financial is a company of crooks that don't care about you at all. Your contract is with ABC.

I'm sure management has changed since all of these previous reviews. I decided to check them out even with the "bad" reviews it was given and I couldn't believe it. The facility was smaller but had everything and more than what I was looking for. The staff was cleaning when I entered the building and everything looked great. The staff heard my concerns about the reviews and they were very aware and fixing any problems from past employees. Months have gone by now and I'm making great progress, the facility is still in great shape, and the employees such as Melanie, Jared, Bobby, Joe, and Danielle are all great. I won't let bad review hinder my experience.

This place was nothing like I expected from the older reviews. I took advantage of their 7 day trial and was impressed with the facility. Jared took me through everything on my first day and was super knowledgeable and helpful. The facility was clean and well kept during all of my visits. Jared and Bobby are both awesome, helpful and low key. Worth a look in North Liberty for sure. Glad I checked it out for myself.

Initially I signed up with a debit card so my monthly fee was higher, but could bring my bank account number for direct deposits to lower the monthly membership fee. When I did so, the charges did not change the next two months. After spending a long while on the phone with both the ABC financial and the Anytime Fitness employees I was told that my overcharge was basically a bummer and didn't void any contract obligations. I was offered protein shakes from the gym as compensation because they couldn't actually give me my money back for over charging me. Now I am trying to find how much longer I am locked into this contact and the gym cannot tell me, and ABC financial is a purely automated customer service that doesn't give the option to cancel the membership. Find another gym to go to. Really anywhere else.

Utilized many locations of Anytime across the midwest, wide variation in policies, cleanliness, and quality of equipment depending on the franchise owner. This was our primary location to workout, and in general pretty decent facility for a 24-gym.
We did not have any major complaints until we recently moved and needed to cancel our account after over five years of patronage. We stopped by the gym to inform the owner and were given a business card for a third party vendor that we had to call to get cancellation information.
We were informed we had to mail a certified letter requesting the cancellation, and it would be 30 days before the termination would take effect. We jumped through the hoop and mailed the certified letter, only to be emailed by the company stating the letter had not been received in time for the current month and we would be billed for another month.
Absolutely awful customer service experience for loyal members. We would not get an account here again.

My husband and I have been members of Anytime Fitness for over 4 years, starting at the location in Adel, Iowa before we moved to North Liberty. When we moved, I understood that our membership agreement would transfer, but instead, we were started on a new three-year agreement. Then, when we moved again to an apartment that had a gym, we were told it would be half of our membership to cancel, which was barely over the 1-year mark, to our surprise.

Before you sign up with this location, be wary of the terms they are having you sign and that they may conflict with what the gym is telling you. I've had great experiences with other locations, but have found this one to be sub-par.

In terms of quality, it had more than enough equipment for my needs. But the gym was inferior in overall cleanliness compared to Coralville and Adel. The small space and large amount of equipment did make it a little more crowded during the after-work hours.

I've heard great things about Core Fitness in North Liberty if you're looking for an alternative.

Completely disappointed with my membership. No one was ever around to talk to, even during "office hours." Changing jobs and starting school again I have absolutely zero time to do anything else but it is literally impossible to get out of your agreement unless you become disabled. I find that absolutely ridiculous. They make sure to get every last penny they can with hidden costs and fees. Definitely would not recommend anyone.

I've never had a problem with the Anytime Fitness chain and have enjoyed every location that I've been to over the last several years....except this one. Management is incredibly rude and is only concerned about new members as it's more $$$ for them to cash in their pocket and it's clear from the other reviews that they do not care about their members.

Most Anytime chains allow carryover membership if you are moving locations and are very flexible in this manner...except this one. Management only cares about money and are not accommodating to requests to improve the establishment or the customer's in any way shape or form.

Overall, the Anytime Fitness chain is a great one, just stay away from this location. There are much better options nearby.

Unfortunate that I was told one thing on the phone about cancelling my membership , fulfilling all the requirements they stated and then told I needed to pay for an additional month because it states that way on the paperwork. Was charged a $10 enhancement fee for club upkeep for the month of February even though my membership expired 2-6. NOT A SATISFIED CUSTOMER..... Used the facility very little but when I did it was clean and machinery was in operating condition. After looking at alternatives I have found a facility that was less than half the cost Anytime Fitness charged..Anytime Fitness charges you EVERY last penney they can get out of you.

Utter disappointment with the bad attitude and entire lack of interest or follow up with any staff after you join. Management's interest appears only until you sign the contract, then they are done. Buyer beware.
