Most of my life, I’ve been a runner. Cardio was always where I was comfortable, so I was outside my comfort zone when I joined Rooted last April to focus on strength training. I’ve grown to love lifting and I’m grateful for the safe space Rooted provides in each class. I recently hiked Half Dome in Yosemite - a 16 mile trek - and felt I was in the best shape of my life and truly owe it to Rooted.

I have been going to this studio for about 3 months. The instructors and members have been welcoming and the classes engaging. I started with no experience at all and the classes have always felt flexible in challenge to always be approachable for all levels of experience.

The variety of classes and membership structure offers solutions for all types of fitness. I started with Yoga to work on my flexibility but have also enjoyed trying many other classes. Finding the classes that fits my schedule and fitness goals has been an enjoyable experience. The morning Vinyasa classes are now one of my favorite ways to start my day.

The studio has been welcoming and respectful to everyone no matter their experience, age, gender, or goals. Fully recommend.

My first yoga experience and I couldn't have picked a kinder place to begin my practice. Instructors are lovely, considerate, and accommodating, and offer alternatives for just about every pose. The owner is incredibly kind and responsive to questions, and I couldn't recommend Rooted more highly - I feel safe, supported, and grounded here.

Rooted is the best gym experience I’ve ever had. Hannah and all of the other instructors are highly knowledgeable and the studio culture is one of no judgment, no diet talk, and all inclusivity. Hannah is active in and does so much for the local community around Beaverdale and in Des Moines. Even lifting weights makes for an incredibly fun atmosphere and I’ve made some wonderful friends that way. Highly recommend!

My partner and I joined up a few weeks ago, and we have been so impressed. The class schedule is robust, and the app to register/wait-list/withdraw is so easy to use. Their payment system is accessible and made us feel as though we could responsibly join this gym. The instructors are phenomenal and kind, and they've cultivated that culture in all of their classes - everyone is very encouraging and they seem like they keep an extra eye on the newbies 😉 They're stuck with us, now!

There’s a focus on empowerment towards connecting to our own personal relationship with movement at this studio which makes for a supportive and positive relationship to fitness and wellness overall. This is a great place to try new things, to find and modify your personal wellness goals depending on what you need (as life is constantly changing), and to make friends along the way. The fellow students and instructors are always a joy to be surrounded by and I couldn’t recommend this community enough!

Rooted is THE best experience I've ever had at a gym/studio. I used to really dread working out or traditional "fitness" — I never knew what I was doing and didn't feel like I belonged in those spaces. The group class set up at Rooted has completely changed that. Hannah and all of the instructors are so supportive and never provide any pressure or intimidation. The other Rooted members are hilarious and great and truly there to form community and fun. This space has helped me feel accepted in a fitness environment and I genuinely look forward going to work out every day. Wild! 6 stars, everyone go immediately.

I started classes at Rooted about a month ago and it’s been a truly wonderful experience. I’m a 40 something woman who was a teenager in the 90s and I have gone through most of my life with body image issues. Because of those issues, I never truly felt comfortable in other gyms, so finding Rooted and being able to show up just as I am has been a lifelong dream. It’s a truly supportive and inclusive environment, free of the pressures to look a certain way or make you feel guilty for eating food that brings you joy! And, it’s A LOT of fun! I actually look forward to my classes!

I’ve been going consistently to Rooted for over a year, three times a week at 5:30 AM for strength and never in my life did I think I could be this diligent with my exercise. Never did I think I would be comfortable lifting with the barbell, now I can’t imagine a life of only dumbbells. I owe rooted and Hannah a lot for always being there and also offering varying levels of membership which has been a real blessing for me. Their yoga is also top tier and NOT to be missed! Thanks Rooted!

Rooted is the best! All of the instructors are great and I've enjoyed every class I've taken there (everything from yoga, to strength, to conditioning). They offer a Zoom option for most of their classes which is also super handy in a pinch. If I could change one thing about Rooted it would be that they offer more evening classes, but I'm hopeful that will become a reality as they continue to grow. Truly a gem of Des Moines!

I've been going to Rooted regularly for a little over two weeks now (with very minimal yoga/strength training before that). I've tried most of the classes they offer and have met four of the instructors so far. This studio is so welcoming for all levels of experience, it's refreshing after having experienced a handful of intimidating/pretentious yoga studios in the past. I only wish I'd started coming here sooner! The classes and instructors are totally non-judgmental, yet they challenge you to build up your strength (physical and mental) and help you reach whatever goal you may have. Whole-person health is the priority at this studio, and I can feel myself getting stronger with each class.

They offer multiple membership packages and start-up packages to accommodate many different price points. 100% worth every penny!
