Roots prenatal yoga is the best, what an asset for Des Moines! I went in person throughout my first pregnancy and it helped me prepare for a wonderful birth. Sandy is a great teacher, and knows so much about pregnancy. The class really helps you connect with your body and baby.
During my second pregnancy, she had created an online platform, which is equally good! It's so nice that you can take classes anytime, and as much as you want.

I have never had energy work done before. I am not sure I understood Reiki as a form of healing or a legitimate technique for stress reduction or relaxation. It's hard for me to relax during a massage but I knew I wanted/needed a therapy that was "activating" and energy-related. Enter the amazing Sandi Hoover. I was comfortable from the start with Sandi as I have known her for many years. My first session was beautiful. I rested very peacefully with a comforting awareness of Sandi's work and a feeling that has lasted for several days of serenity, a little bit of clarity, and incredible sleep. I highly recommend giving Reiki with Sandi a try if you're eager to heal, make peace, or raise awareness of the light you hold inside.

Roots has been a great resource for healthy living while starting a new family. The prenatal yoga classes were wonderful while I was pregnant. Sandi was a great teacher and showed modifications and poses that served you during your pregnancy and after. I've also taken an "Introduction to Infant Massage" class and a Mommy and Me baby yoga class. My son and I loved the mommy and me baby yoga class and I can't wait to go back!

I have been attending Roots Prenatal Yoga weekly since I was 18 weeks along and I am now 34 weeks. I look forward to coming every week and having that 75 minutes of just focusing on myself and my baby. Itβs also good to know which yoga stretches are safe and recommended while pregnant. Sandi is a wonderful teacher and she really makes you feel welcome. I canβt recommend her classes enough! I always feel relaxed and at peace following her class :)

Roots Prenatal Yoga studio has been and continues to be a wonderful and essential part of my pregnancy! I have been attending classes regularly since the end of my first trimester and after having to take a couple weeks off due to the holidays and illness, I can say without a doubt that I feel so much better when these classes are a part of my week. I sleep better, my joints (especially my hips) feel better, and I know I'm better preparing myself for whatever the birth process sends my way. I've picked up a lot of tips and tricks along the way from the owner, Sandi, as well as the other ladies in each class, and really appreciate being part of such a supportive community of women. If you've never tried yoga before, Roots classes are gentle enough to provide a perfect introduction to the practice and will help you stay comfortable and confident through your pregnancy.

Roots Prenatal Yoga is a hidden gem in the state of Iowa. Prior to discovering Roots Prenatal Yoga, I had a practice that I really enjoyed β Roots has more than filled the void and is by far the best yoga experience I have had! I recommend it to all expecting mamas β it is such a gift you can provide to yourself with physical and emotional benefits. Roots offers some fantastic discounts with the monthly membership that makes it affordable to maintain a yoga practice throughout your entire pregnancy. The studio offers a variety of classes, making it a good fit for moms on the go who value flexibility.
As a first-time mom and new resident of Iowa, I felt anxious about the transition and lack of connections and resources. With Roots Prenatal Yoga I established new friendships and an immediate, supportive community, which has provided incredible resources, including a private group Facebook page where mamas can connect and offer support for one another. Each class a new topic or theme is discussed and my mind has been opened to explore lots of different topics and aspects of pregnancy that I probably would not have considered otherwise.
The instructors are kind, attentive and know exactly what works in the body and mind of a pregnant woman. Sandi, the owner, is one of the most magnificent human beings you will ever meet! She has a beautiful spirit and heart that radiates and the energy and environment she has created is second to none. Roots Prenatal is a haven and refuge from a busy world with too many demands. Sandi must pride herself in customer service β she is attentive and knows each of her students by name! She takes the time to get to know you and make you feel comfortable and is willing to answer any questions or provide resources. The personal attention and kind welcome card I received blew me away β very few businesses still capture the personal touch in a way like Sandi does! Sandi also offers post-pregnancy yoga classes and various workshops β all of which are outstanding.
Each class explores a challenge pose that prepares you for contractions β I have seen huge benefits from the physically practice β significant relief from back pain and other common pregnancy aches, but more importantly I have seen a shift in my mind and the mental barriers. I am becoming more positive and exploring topics and ideas of being a mom that I hadnβt even considered. A warm and heartfelt thank you to Sandi and her colleagues for being a part of my journey, and creating a space where I can explore and prepare for this new season of life. Roots is truly one of my favorite places and I give it my highest recommendation.

Absolutely loved prenatal yoga! I do not imagine how my pregnancy would have gone without it. It is fantastic for physical and emotional health. There is a prenatal topic we discussed during each class before doing yoga, so it was great to share and listen to other expecting mamas. Exercises helped a lot with sleep. I am planning to attend Baby and Me Yoga classes with my baby boy now.
Thank you Sandi!

Roots Prenatal Yoga was such a blessing during my first pregnancy. I came away from each class feeling reassured in my pregnancy journey and physically rejuvenated. Each week at class we would have a new topic for discussion to share all of our worries, questions and joys with other pregnant moms. The yoga poses are safe and modified for you no matter what trimester you are in, helping you find the best way to stretch and tend to your changing and growing body. My labor and birth was long and mentally challenging, during which I would come back to my mat in my mind and focus on my breath and find my inner strength to continue. I'm so thankful for Sandi and all the moms I had the chance to share the space with!

I absolutely loved my experience at the Roots prenatal yoga classes I took during my pregnancy. At a time that was very stressful in my life otherwise, practiving yoga, interacting with the class and Sandi was my weekly escape from the hustle and bustle. Aside from that I was able to create quite a few friendships by going to the weekly meetups outside of class. Sandi is one of the most kind, genuine individuals I have ever met- she took time before and after class to answer any additional questions and always responded honestly and from a place of love.

I credit feeling amazing during my pregnancy to regular Yoga classes with Roots Prenatal Yoga. The classes not only involve safe and relaxing movement for a pregnant mama of all physical abilities, but also a place to be a part of a community of pregnant women and soon-to-be moms. I look forward to the discussion topics at each class and appreciate the support of the teachers and fellow students.
I am nearing the end of my pregnancy and the classes have helped me feel strong, relaxed and comfortable in my changing body throughout the entire journey!
