This community has changed my life more ways than I can describe in a simple review. It’s more than just a place to workout, it’s a place to make friends and have a fun experience, while changing your health and your life.
I know a lot of people get scared when they see the word CrossFit. They instantly think “super intense” and “there’s no way I can do that”. CrossFit is so much more than that. It’s for everyone to come in, show up, and do a scalable workout that fits your fitness level and can be catered for you and any limitations or fears you may have. The Method’s coaches are by far the best at making sure you’re put in a position to ensure you get a workout that is geared for you and ensure you can do everything safely.
And if you’re scared of coming to a new place in a class with a bunch of strangers, don’t be. We all start somewhere, and if you’re in a class with me, there’s a great chance I and many others in class will come say hello and make sure you are comfortable and have a sense of belonging in this community. So take a leap of faith and come join us! I’ll say it again, it’s a life changing experience you won’t regret.

The Method is more than just a gym; it is a community! I was terrified to join a CrossFit gym because of the fear of being judged working out in front of people. I was hesitant to try CrossFit, but am so glad I did. For years I focused on cardio and then yoga, but knew I needed to add strength workouts to my exercise routine. I wasted a lot of time going to the gym without a plan, so having a prescribed workout that varies every day was a game changer. The coaches make it easy to scale the movements to every ability level and take into account that everyone has different goals.
My friends convinced me to start and my new gym friends keep me coming back! The community is great and welcoming!

Over the past 30 years, I’ve tried countless gyms, but I was never sure if CrossFit was for me. I had all the usual misconceptions—too much weight slamming, loud grunting, and a cliquish atmosphere. It just didn’t seem like my kind of place.
Eventually, after growing frustrated with a gym that lacked consistent programming and accountability from its owners, my husband and I decided to take a leap and try CrossFit. And I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Our first class was on a busy Saturday and everyone greeted us with a smile and introduced themselves. A few members were heading out for coffee afterward and invited us to join. That simple act of kindness made a lasting impression and was unlike any previous gym I belonged to.
What really stood out was the diversity in the class—people in their 20s to 60+, each working at their own level with modifications tailored to their fitness journey. Anyone can do CrossFit!
Beyond the welcoming community, what continues to amaze me is how strong I’ve become—physically and mentally. At 47, I’m lifting heavier than ever and doing things I never thought I could. Every day brings a new challenge, and I genuinely look forward to it.

My kids invited me to try out The Method. At 60 years old I started going 3 times a week. The coaches encourage you to do what you’re able to do. The coaches help to alter the exercise for your abilities. It feels really good when you can do an exercise that was difficult before.

I joined The Method Muscatine CrossFit gym about 6 months ago and i have to say it has been such a game changer for me. The owner (Joe) and all of the coaches are there to help you hit all of your goals. They explain every part of the workout daily and lets say your form is off they are right there to help you correct it. The Facility is awesome and always super clean, all the weights and fitness equipment are top-notch. If you are looking for a new gym The Method Muscatine can be as competitive as you want to make it or can be a fun family environment to work out in.

This is by far my favorite gym ever. The Method was my home for 2 summers until I had to move, and when I tell you all the people there make you feel seen, worthy of being there, and appreciated that BY far sets the bar for itself. I loved how competitive you got to be in many aspects, mentally, physically, and as a group.
The coaches there are the absolute best, they make you always feel like you are in the right place at the right time. hard days they are there, good days they are there. All your days the people, the coaches, and the family will always be there for you. They push you while also making you just overall a better human.
I could go on and on about this gym but if you ever get the chance to be apart of the Method, you are incredibly lucky.

The Method..I will be 65 years old in 3 months. This is the very best thing i have ever done for myself. The Couches are all extremely helpful , professional, Fun, they go out of there way to help you, and make the work out fit you.No matter age size your fitness level..My health has improved dramatically. I am doing things i never thought i could do at my age. . My doctor has taken me off blood pressure meds..This takes up one hour of your life a day. I go 4 to 5 times a week ..Well worth one hour wouldn't you say. I get guidance on what u should or should not be eating. I have made alot of friends there. It's a great atmosphere everyone has fun and helps each other out..Joe is a great coach. Trainer. Teacher. Person in general

I have been attending at The Method for a year and a half. Once you find your group and your time spot the workout is even more fun! The coaches push you but don’t dismiss you like other places I have tried. They encourage you to work hard but also modify workout so that even when you’re hurt or sore you can participate. I love how clean it is, individual lockers and great shower facilities for a quick escape from the work day.

If you are looking for a place to begin or to continue your fitness journey. The Method Muscatine is the place to be! The Coaching staff is top notch and are willing to spend the time to get to know you, teach the movements, or help with any other questions you have about health &nutrition. But it doesn't stop there, if you are new, they take time out of the class to introduce you to rest of the members and that's where becoming member really begins. Not only is the staff welcoming, but the community is more so. all of the members feel like family and do their best to include anyone new into this family. I visited The Method Muscatine CrossFit for a drop-in while I was in town, and had an amazing experience! The coaches were incredibly friendly, patient, and clear in their guidance. Even though they knew I wasn’t a long-term member, they made me feel completely welcome and supported. The community is tight-knit and super inclusive — you can tell they genuinely care about people.
One especially thoughtful moment that stood out: I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant, and Coach Joe gave me a book called “We Are Pregnant!” as a kind gesture. It meant so much to me and really reflects the kind of environment this gym creates.

It all started 2 years ago when I pulled in the parking lot to be greeted by Joe to purchase a punch card to try the place out for a few days. He advised me to just come try the place out and if I liked it I could join. It only took me a couple days to realize I needed to join. Now 2 years later and I rarely miss a day. Updated Review: As a 36 year old, I didn’t think I’d be pregnant again, but we were surprisingly blessed with another baby. As I got a clear from my OB, I decided to keep working out at The Method throughout my pregnancy. Previous pregnancies were riddled with major aches and pains, swelling and high blood pressure. Even though I was 7 years older for this pregnancy, I felt so good. The coaches equipped me with movements that were appropriate for a good workout while also keeping my baby safe, which allowed me to keep moving for my entire pregnancy. I was able to have a healthy, full-term pregnancy, as well as a smooth labor and delivery. Not only that, but now as a 37 year old, it’s been my easiest recovery postpartum. I’ve lost the pregnancy weight and have been able to get up and moving again much faster. The support from the gym community has been amazing too. When I got home from the hospital, I was greeted by some LMNT to support breastfeeding and meals from sweet gym friends! This gym is the real deal. Come move your body, get nutritional support, and enjoy the amazing community, you won’t regret it!
Original Review: I’ve been working out at the Method for a little over a year and a half and I love it! I thought CrossFit was only for the super athletic, but I was wrong. Every movement they can tailor to your level to give you a successful workout. I’ve gone from running on my own, seeing no weight or muscle changes to losing 30 lbs and being able to see some muscle definition I’ve never seen before in my life. Everyone at the method is extremely helpful. I was very hesitant to ever try CrossFit, but everyone at The Method has been so welcoming. They taught me how to properly scale all the exercises, and how to continuously reassess my skills to continue to challenge myself. I had the opportunity to drop in at The Method while visiting family in the area. Coach Joe and the members there were very welcoming as soon as I walked in. I was impressed with both the fun culture (a bonus getting to play knockout 🏀 as a warmup) and the coaching (Coach Joe quickly spotted an area of improvement and was very encouraging with a helpful modification). If you have never tried CrossFit before, I highly recommend The Method as an alternative to a personal trainer or trying to figure out and stick with a workout plan on your own. Thank you Coach Joe!

The Method Muscatine is hands down the best gym I’ve ever been a part of! The coaches are SO HELPFUL + know exactly where you should begin and encourage you when it’s time to level up too! This is the first gym in that I’ve actually wanted to come to, and keep coming after the “motivation” wears off. I’ve been able to make new friends too, as all members old and brand new make you feel so welcomed. It’s also truly a family friendly gym, I’ve been able to bring my kids (7,5) with me + they have a cozy spot for them to hang out while mom takes care of herself. I, like many other people, was very hesitant to join CrossFit. I had always heard about people getting hurt doing it. I did bodybuilding for years leading up to joining CrossFit. After going in and talking to Joe one day, I decided to give CrossFit a shot.
I needed a change of pace because I was getting bored with bodybuilding and found myself lacking the motivation to go to the gym every day.
After talking to Joe for a little while about CrossFit, I decided to come in and try out a couple of classes. I have always attended the 8:30am class which Joe teaches most of the time.
I am not going to lie, it was tough in the beginning. I had never really done any Olympic moves or cardio for that matter. Joe and the other coaches would modify whatever I needed to help me get better at each movement.
The Method prioritizes modifying all movements to accommodate each persons individual skill set.
The vibe at The Method is always positive, and that’s what keeps me coming back. I’ve met a lot of new people here and have made some great friends.
Overall, I would say that joining The Method has been the best decision for my physical health. I have even started to love movements that I absolutely hated before.
Props to all the coaches that make classes and learning new things a positive fun experience.

I’m very new to Crossfit and was pretty intimidated even showing up to try a class. SO GLAD I WALKED INTO THE DOOR!!!!! Immediately people began to welcome me, introduce themselves and guide me through all the new “terminology”. The coaches are phenomenal!!!!! This gym is a perfect place for me! Cardio/ strength/ new workouts and a wonderful crew of athletes!!!!!!

Huge shoutout to Joe and The Method. Needed someone to quickly take my body fat percentage and some measurements for the Air Force, needless to say he was a savior. Got me in less than 24 hours after I called and got it done!

I started my CrossFit journey a little over a year ago. I was nervous to start because I didn’t know many people at the gym. The Method has become a community for me and my family. I joined to get a good workout in and have ended up gaining many friends while attending classes. The coaches are great about explaining movements and making sure we are challenging ourselves.

I was very new to CrossFit and the coaches and members were very accommodating and helpful in getting me adapted into the program. They’ve also done a great job in helping me adapt to programs that work with my knee injury. Overall I have had a positive experience and have learned so much in as little as two months. On top of it all, the progress I am beginning to see is the cherry on top!

I was visiting family in Muscatine and as soon as I arrived I googled “Gyms near me” I dropped by since I was close by where I was greeted by Coach Joe. I explained I was only in town for a few days and welcomed me to workout even if it was just for a few days. I arrived at 11:30am and started my first class right away at 12! Talk about “Just Do It” As a beginner I learned a lot about Crossfit in just three days with the help and motivation I got from everyone including the members. The culture is encouraging and tight knit. I will be looking into a Crossfit gym when I get back home. Having just moved to the area I was going to try both CrossFit gyms and make a decision based on what I felt was a better fit for me. However from the first day I felt so welcomed by Joe& his wife and the other members there. That was something that was really important to me, I wanted a community to belong to when it came to health & fitness.
They have an excellent system for what the week ahead looks like, and easily accessible to answer any of my questions.
In the box Coach Joe is excellent at explaining correct form, and coaching you through the movements. Both he and his wife are personable with each person and I greatly appreciate that!

If you are looking to get fit this is the place! I was nervous about joining a gym as I did not have much experience with lifting weights or other things. The coaches here are great and can scale any movement to your skill level and are super patient and willing to answer questions. I never get bored as there is a ton of variety and always a different challenge. If you want to see what it’s like stop in and try your first class for free!

As a newcomer to CrossFit (going into only my second month) I can’t recommend The Method enough. Even though I was definitely out of place at my first class, everyone took strides to make me feel welcome; coaches and fellow cross fitters included. The community is absolutely phenomenal, the coaches are great at teaching (and scaling for those of us who need to), and pushing me to become better. The workouts are definitely challenging, but worth it. Even more, my hour or so at Method is usually one of the best hours of my day.
