Just recently joined. Staff and equipment are nice, although the way some of the machines are organized is a little strange to me. Has everything you need to get a good workout in though. Track is uneven and could use some maintenance. Also definitely bring headphones (which I do but I feel bad for anyone who doesn’t) as the music selection is just awful. Just a nonstop mashup of club remixes to songs that have no business being remixed. Not even exaggerating. One song transitions into the next without a millisecond of a break to at least make the song transition make an ounce of sense. Like 10 minutes before I typed this they went from pop music like “Rather Be” straight into classic rock for 2 songs, “Fortunate Son” and then “Your Love”, then straight into Sabrina Carpenter. Keep in mind none of these are the original songs, they’re all club remixes with cheap background beats that play about half of the song before going straight into the next one. It’s actually an assault on my senses. It’s something I would expect at a high school football game. Like I said though I have headphones anyway so it really doesn’t matter does it? Anyway, sorry to anyone who actually read all this. Just needed to get it out of my system. Hopefully the employees will get tired of it (if they aren’t already) and request to play normal gym music like a pop or rock station or something. Overall, nice facility 👍

This gym has been like a virus in my life, canceling my gym membership took me 40 days!!! They can take your money in a second but to cancel your membership they keep playing games with you. This is the first time in my life that to cancel a gym membership you need to give 30 Day Notice!! And email somebody who responds to his email once a week, and every time they tell you something to not cancel it so they can keep take money from your credit card. This been a painful experience for me, If anybody considering this gym please think twice because you will be payin 2 months without getting any service, while waiting for a somebody to cancel your membership.

I was a member at Element from summer 2022 to the end of 2024. Been meaning to give them a review for a while now. Element is a great gym with a real sense of community, you can feel the energy there. Worked with one of their trainer for a few sessions, she was awesome! Equipment was solid and the remodeled locker rooms were very nice. I thought for what it cost monthly the value was well worth it. Never had a problem with a single person there and the staff was always kind/welcoming. The owners are great guys too. I’m a personal trainer myself and if I ever got a gym membership again it will likely be at Element. Great gym choice if you live around Lenexa.

Like many gyms - all is fine until you try to cancel.

Do not use this gym if you have any hopes of canceling your membership. You will not be refunded your money even after MONTHS of trying to cancel. I have been trying to cancel since Feb 2025 (which I was double charged that month), sending 6 emails and calling into the office 3-4 times requesting to speak with the owner or member services. I have been a member since July 2022 - at this time I had agreed to a 1 year contract with eligibility to cancel anytime once the contract has been fulfilled. I was again charged for Mar 2025 and have been given the run around non-stop. I can't get ahold of ANYONE to help me. Not only that - but when my husband wanted to be taken off and go elsewhere - we were never refunded from the month AFTER he was removed and continued being charged a family membership vs single. The poor gal at the front who always answers my calls is unable to help and just suggests emailing their member services account and she'll relay the message to the owner. My only choice now is to go directly to my bank to block any future charges.

Telling anyone and everyone to steer clear of this place.

After expressing concerns to one of the owners about a safety issue, my membership was abruptly terminated and I was directed to leave immediately. My words were specific to a substitute group fitness instructor, whose class I had just attended. I stated the person was ill-prepared, reckless and unprofessional. I added that no one should teach step aerobics, etc. without proper training for the safety of the participants. Rather than acknowledging my concerns, he accused me of trying to dictate how to run his business. While arguing that he would not tolerate my criticism, he made two hurtful comments concerning my age and size. For added context, this was my first conversation with him and the first time I had ever voiced a complaint to management. The motto “go along to get along” serves people well at this gym, whereas offering constructive feedback may bruise that particular owner’s ego and result in adverse action.

Despite the circumstances, it is best I find a new fitness center as I have become increasingly dissatisfied. Namely, Element’s group fitness room and classes are not a priority (e.g., weak sound system, inconsistent fans/thermostat, no heart-rate charts, lack of cleanliness, limited number of quality substitute instructors).  I will miss many of the members and certain excellent instructors, but overall this gym is better-suited for users of weights and equipment.

I absolutely love Element Fitness! The space is clean, spacious, and well-equipped with everything I need, from cardio machines, free weights, etc... I canceled and received a confirmation email from their member services last December. They have continued to charge me monthly fees as well as their "enhancement" fee this entire year. I have spoken to front desk members over the phone and forwarded over the confirmation email multiple times to no avail.

Good luck to anyone looking to cancel. The front desk members themselves have admitted that they receive many calls from people charged after the cancellation date.

I was blessed to have great workout facilities during my Army Career. Element KC Fitness is the gold standard. I have been a member of several other gyms since moving here in 2016; and the big box gyms pale in comparison to Element. Excellent staff, equipment, a clean and positive environment; as well as a positive vibe- that I have not experienced at other facilities. Went to check out this place and website mentioned you can get free pass for workout; unfortunately front desk employee informed me i have to have an appointment for their free pass and website didn’t mention that i need to have an appointment just go over and have quick workout… She also were not willing to help either! WOW! I travel a lot for work and have been really unimpressed but this location is fantastic. Eli was so professional and kind and was a main reason I came in. Tyler, the mgr, did not try and sell me anything he just made sure I was good and questions were answered.

This is a smaller, neighborhood style gym facility with all the benefits of big gym clubs. One can work out by yourself if that's your zone or be welcomed by name by the staff and visit with friends & neighbors while in the gym if THAT is your zone. I’ve been coming here since I’ve moved here in February, and it’s pretty sick. I’ve tried multiple gyms before I found this one (I’d rather work out in a beehive than go to Genesis again) and this one is the best. Since I’ve signed up there have been many new renovations, and the people (both employees and customers) are super nice. I usually go mid afternoon and I never have to wait for equipment.

I recently joined Element Fitness KC because of the small boutique gym feel without the cost associated with a boutique gym. Even during the peak hours, it never feels crowded. There are multiple spaces that can be utilized no matter the exercise. I normally don’t take classes at gyms but I tried out 2 classes; Werq and BodyCombat, both taught my Marissa and I love it! The energy and vibe she brings into each class is never below 110% which makes me want to try harder every time I go. By far, Element fitness is one of the best gyms I’ve joined. Plus, I love that they have this inside turf.

I’ve been going to element for about 2 years with a hiatus during my pregnancy. It’s a great little locally-owned gym. Plenty of machines, and you don’t have to wait too long at them for the most part. I mostly use the treadmills and the dumbbells, but my husband uses the other weights machines. We now also use the element kids zone. It’s nothing special, but the workers are very nice and sweet with the kids, and it’s a great benefit to have a space to drop them off where there are toys and other kids for the hour that you’re working out.

Joined this in April of 22. Went for about three months then had to put my membership on hold. I can't escape this place. They don't charge me for months then randomly I get hit for $83.09. I'm WELL past the year of membership and I still get charged.

I wouldn't go there again and advise others not to as well. Aside from billing issues, they don't have a pool and occasionally they will have a vendor selling something at the door with was super uncomfortable. They are horrible with communication too.

Update: After I placed this review and one on Facebook my last payment of $83.09 was refunded. I never received a response to my emails, but I did get a voicemail while I was working. I can't talk on the phone during the workday, 7 am - 5 pm, so I wish they would email or text. At least I got the refund which was unexpected.

I've just recently joined element and have been coming for about a month now and have had nothing but a great experience. The staff is always super helpful and friendly and always present for anything that you might need. The gym itself is always super clean never overly crowded and has every piece of equipment that you need to get a solid workout in. Since being there the gym continues to upgrade equipment and the facility. I drive 20 minutes to and from and it's definitely worth it. I recommend element fitness to anyone no matter what your level of fitness or experience is 💪

I’ve been looking for a fitness center that fit my needs since I moved here this year. I made an appointment and was given a generous tour of their facility. I was impressed with the many options available for someone w my limitations. Even though there was expansion and construction going on there was plenty of alternatives to choose from. I observed the efforts to maintain cleanliness and the coffee bar created a welcoming environment. Nice place!

I've been a member since October of 2021 (before new ownership took over) and all of the changes have been substantial improvements compared to the old layout. My personal favorite has been added turf that runs the length of the gym, but even the free weight section has tripled in the time I've been here.

They are communicative by providing updates while dealing with much needed construction improvements and are continually updating the equipment. I haven't found a better gym value in the OP/Olathe area in the past 10 years.

I enjoy coming into this gym almost daily, the associates are friendly and I always feel good about the amount space available to get my workout in, but it’s been several weeks now and they have yet to clean up the mess from the ceiling leaks, yellow tape, and the sitting buckets of water that honestly gross me outt(patrons throwing their wet naps into them🤢) , it’s starting to smell moldy in areas and I’m noticing flies hanging around. please turn this around

Back in December they stopped offering massage services which I had used numerous times. I have 2 massage gift certificates and 1 facial gift certificate that I paid for totaling $197. I have called numerous times to ask about a refund, the person at the desk took messages but no one has ever returned my calls. You can draw your own conclusions about doing business with these people. I would not recommend them at all.
As an addendum to this review, subsequent to posting it, I received a call from the owners who were unaware that I had tried contacting them previously and apologized for the lack of communication. Although I was not happy with the final outcome, I understand their position and do appreciate getting a prompt call once they read my review and I consider this matter resolved. Overall they have really upgraded the facility and I wish them good fortune.

This Gym is the best!!!! Is always clean, there’s always space to train, they have a sauna, so many classes and they have Yoga classes that are super good, all the coaches are knowledgeable!!!! Everyone is very welcoming and they help you if you have any questions about how to use the equipment, which is amazing. I had been working out at the gym for a few months. I had some elbow issues pop up. For my birthday, I told my wife I wanted to get some training sessions to make sure I was exercising properly, using the correct amount of weight and form. Plus, I needed help on flexibility. The staff gave me a fitness assessment and assigned a trainer to me. Pam has been working with me for a couple months now. I have seen improvements in my flexibility which is the biggest surprise. Plus, I've gained strength and stamina. And no more elbow pain! The gym has everything I need to improve my health and fitness. I highly recommend their services.

I was visiting the area from out of state, and purchased a day pass to attend Zumba with Ester. From the front desk, to the instructor everyone was so nice and welcoming!! Ester was one of the best Zumba instructors’ class I have ever attended and I have gone to over 4K Zumba classes! She cued so we knew the next move and had a wide range of world music, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely return during my next visit!

Paid for a day pass ($15) to come back and try one of the current yoga classes. The yoga room was very dirty, with lots of dirt, hair, and pieces of foam on the floor. There was even a dead bug sitting in the middle of the floor. Not somewhere I wanted to put my yoga mat or walk around barefoot. Disappointed that the new ownership isn’t keeping the place clean.

Element Fitness provides a clean, spacious, welcoming gym environment. The new owners have worked so hard making improvements, and have more planned. As a mom, I am grateful for the childcare at Element Fitness. My daughter gets excited about going to Element Fitness, and doesn't want to leave when it is time for pickup. As a matter of fact, she refers to Element Fitness as "our gym." As a fitness newbie, the set up and atmosphere of Element has been a gift. It is cool & inspiring to see the range of fitness journeys going on at the same time. As a person with a chronic illness that sometimes has to use a walker, the set up at Element is a gift! I do not struggle with navigating the gym. I am still able to get to the things I need for my workout, also the track is spacious enough for me to walk on it with my walker without impeding another's use of the track.

I came in the other day and I am not impressed. I found out about Element Fitness via a flyer and decided to give them a shot, oh how TRULY disappointed I am. They charged me $15 for a guest pass, and not to mention, a $250 sign-up fee! I decided to use their free towel service and spent a majority of my first impression trying to search for a towel that was not stained. The lack of care and sanitization is apparent. Never again! I'm better off working out at Planet Fitness.

EXCELLENT VALUE for the membership. I've used many gyms over the years and Element ranks as one of the best! The staff are welcoming and always helpful. The full schedule of fitness classes in their TWO studios is impressive, something there for everyone. Selection of equipment is very good. Indoor track with large infield area for stretching and "grass drills". I always look forward to my workouts. Certified personal trainers on staff. LOVE this gym!

This fitness center has been in Lenexa for about 30 years. It was part of the community. It made it thru the pandemic, only closing down during the state required months. It definitely needed updating and an influx of money - a large part of the membership is seniors who take advantage of the Silver Sneakers program that reimburses the club thru Medicare. I am not familiar with that process or how ling the lag time is on reimbursement to the club, but I know some members have been with the club since it opened!
The owner finally gave up and sold it, selling the pool before members were able to get a bid together to buy the whole club (as was told to me.) The pool needed significant upgrades/repairs, and it was separated from the club and leased to a dog training group. That pool was a lifeline for me for 8+ years. I took advantage of the 88° 4ft- 6ft deep water for walking as well as took water aerobics from some amazing and caring instructors who became friends. It is really unfortunate that the club couldn't remain "whole." I understand the new owners are updating equipment and the workout areas as they can. It has gone from bright lime green to bright orange with no more tv monitors over the treadmills, but that pool and its classes had become a sanctuary for many people whose health prohibited them higher impact exercise.
The club is open and has changed its focus to encourage a younger clientele- very understandable - but the pool is severely missed. Maybe someday it will be folded back into the club on the other side of the wall.

This is the best kept secret in Johnson county!! The new owners have done an amazing job with this facility and are continuing to do even more!! It's clean, friendly, well equipped and lots of parking! The best part for me...the group classes. There is a large variety of classes at a wide range of times. Tasha rocks! The instructors have been there forever and are awesome leaders. I have a YMCA five minutes from me but I drive 25 minutes to Shawnee three to four times a week. It's THAT great! They even have on site massages!! Please give it a try, call a friend and come join the fun while improving your health.

Best selection for free weights in the area for the value. You'd pay alot more going somewhere else, and wouldn't get the same training experience. They also have a machine for every muscle group and plenty of treadmills if that's more your thing. A very nice local feel to it, while maintaining professionalism and cleanliness. Lots of renovations in the works too! If you're looking for a great gym, this one won't disappoint.

I have been a member for many years. I love the all one level floor plan. It's a low key peaceful place for me. I love the walking track. Staff is very polite and friendly. My only complaints are the lack of a hot tub now. They chose not to replace it after it broke. The hours are shorter now. They close at 8 pm instead of 9pm or 10 pm. Only open until 5pm on weekends. Otherwise I love Element.
