David is an amazing trainer, I have been working out with him for 3 years and he's helped me get stronger and leaner. I came to Bodysmith because I wanted a trainer who would focus on form and David was great at that. I was recovering from a hamstring injury when I first started training with him and he was very mindful of it and was always willing to tweak the workout in case I was unable to do the move. I just want to leave a quick comment here for my trainer Bryce Shea that works at BodySmith. Bryce was extremely professional while he was my personal trainer . Every session he actually watched all of my movements and corrected my form as opposed to just letting me know “I was doing great” like a lot of trainers do. On top of that, he is well- organized and it’s easy to follow his training plans. He uses and app to upload work outs and overall progress that is extremely helpful for when you need to work out on your own. To me, this last item was crucial. If you are investing money on personal training you should expect your trainer to give you a plan.
He is also willing to communicate through text in case there are any questions or something doesn’t make sense. He is always available to help.
Thank you Bryce and Body Smith for this last last year. Hoping to resume training in the near future.

I’ve been with BodySmith for over 2 years and have trained with both Scott and Kelsey. Their personalization is remarkable! I have presented challenges with injuries, and these guys always have a work-around. The training is varied, so it never gets dull. Most importantly, the trainers don’t just show you how to use the equipment and walk off. They’re with you to ensure proper form, which is critical. Their nutritional advice is sound, and I am encouraged to contact them at any time with questions when I’m not there. The area is spacious, and on a beautiful day, one entire side of the gym opens up to fresh air. The personalization aspect cannot be emphasized enough. I have been challenged in a way that brings out my best. These trainers are top-notch, and I am eternally grateful for how they've helped me accomplish some goals that were previously unimaginable. I feel stronger than I ever have before!

Going into the consultation, I was focused on three aspects of my health: gain lean muscle, lose body fat, and (in all serious) not be afraid of a weight room. I've been to my fair share of gyms in my life, but I always went straight for the treadmill or elliptical--never went over to the weights. I wanted to change that.

After the free consultation with Scott, I was beyond excited to start working with him at BodySmith. He and his team are knowledgeable, excited, and most importantly passionate about what they do each day. The gym itself is the perfect size. It has everything you/the trainers would need to get you going where you want to be. Since the gym is privately-owned, you're never waiting for a machine or some equipment.

The first day of training involved some body composition measurments to see where I started. (I also strongly recommend taking some "before" pictures at home, so you can see how dramatic the results will be!). Then, off to the gym area. Scott asked me to do some push-ups. Pretty straightforward, right?

Well, to be honest I had NO idea I was doing push-ups all my life so poorly. My glutes were too low, my arms were too wide, I was somehow pushing my head forward? Scott gave me pointers incrementally and now I have perfect push-up technique. I had no idea "simple" floor exercises could be perfected so well. This theme carried on to the entirity of my training sessions. I learned true and effective technique, making sure I am isolating and working my muscle groups all the while being safe for my body.

Over time, the technique became second nature. I was able to do lifts I've never done before, and at weights I've never imagined me lifting. I used to be terrified of a gym, but now all I want to do is get into a gym and lift some more! I am beyond thrilled with the results I've seen--And yes, I can see them too! You would be surprised of how many friends noticed my dramatic body changes even when I was only one month into training. I am truly pleased with my results so far.

Just to note a few tips for the newcomers looking to have a fresh start with BodySmith: Be humble and be willing to be coached, as your technique is immensely important. Finally, be prepared to work hard and achieve your goals!

UPDATE: I’m approaching the 2-year mark of training regularly with Kent Masters of BodySmith KC, and I can’t say enough great stuff! I noticed significant changes in my physical and mental health within the first few months of working with him—and that may be exactly what many people are looking for. But I needed a longer-term, ongoing health development plan that accommodated my specific challenges, and Kent and his fellow trainers are just as prepared for that! Knowledgeable, positive and encouraging, provide accountability when you need it, acknowledge and work with the competing “life demands” we all face. It’s been great to have a personal program that is constantly re-invented to be challenging enough to improve my fitness, varied enough to keep my interest high, and attentive enough to keep me injury-free!

Whatever type of goal you have for yourself, these trainers will help you get there. Very much worth the price, plus the personal relationships you’ll build with these trainers are SO valuable when trying to adopt a new, healthy lifestyle. That social support and accountability makes all the difference! All the trainers are capable of working with you regardless of your starting level of fitness, and can help you zoom right past what you previously thought were out-of-reach goals. I’ve gone from being intimated by and dreading the gym to looking at my personal training sessions as the high point of my week. I’ve seen ongoing, significant improvements in my cardiovascular fitness, strength, mental resilience, mood stability, stress level, sleep quality, focus and efficiency at work, decreasing need for medications, etc. And I went from feeling out of place in the gym to competing in my first local Masters CrossFit competition (which I loved!).

By my choice, my trainer and I have spent the last 2 years addressing those other, less visible components of health most specifically, and agree that, new for 2020, we are going to devote more time and attention towards body composition/weight management. We agree on its importance and I’m just now feeling ready to attack this component of my health. This is a very important piece to remember when selecting a personal trainer—that he or she is willing to commit wholly to helping you achieve YOUR goals at YOUR pace. You can find those trainers at BodySmith KC and create exceptional, lasting results. I’ve referred many friends and family to Kent Masters over the last couple of years and will continue to do so. Highly recommend BodySmith KC!

BodySmith trainers are truly the best in KC! The owner Scott and the trainers have an impressive amount of experience and knowledge about fitness. After having a baby via C-section, I was struggling to find a safe way to exercise and regain strength. Also with having a newborn I needed someone to hold me accountable and keep me engaged and awake during workouts. I have been working out with BodySmith trainer Kelsey for 3 months and have seen and felt a dramatic improvement already! Kelsey has done a fantastic job at restoring my core and overall strength at a SAFE (cannot emphasize that enough) and manageable pace. After gaining about 45 pounds during pregnancy, 5 months later I have almost lost it all. My self-esteem and confidence has improved dramatically and that alone has made it worth every penny. The gym is private and it has been recently updated and renovated which is a nice perk. All of the trainers are personable, intelligent, and professional and they have done a great job at creating a fun environment to work out. Cannot recommend BodySmith enough.

This place is great. I moved to KCMO last fall and was looking for a gym and I’m really glad I found this place. I train with Kent and Kelsey who are fantastic at their jobs. They are supportive, knowledgeable, encouraging, and they’ve helped to create a program where I can feel and see the results. I feel stronger, my back pain is gone, my whole body is engaged more when I lift, and I just feel better throughout my day. They work around my crazy schedule as a graduate student and make sure I can get my lifts in during the week. This place has the best trainers, best atmosphere and best equipment of any gym I've trained at. I re-upped my package there two times until I felt like I had a really good foundation and was competent to work on my own but it was still really hard to leave! I trained with BodySmith for a year to get in shape for my upcoming wedding. I was immediately blown away by the commitment and support the trainers showed me from day one. I had spent several years trying to find a gym that wasn't intimidating, and somewhere that I would enjoy enough to show up for each workout without hesitation. After seeing some awesome before/after results from BodySmith, I joined because it looked like 1-1 training was exactly what I needed to kick-start my weight loss. Scott Smith and his team are who you need when looking for a true lifestyle change or simply wanting to take your fitness to the next level. What took me so long to book a consultation? I have no clue because in the 3 months I have been working one-on-one with Scott, not only is my body changing and getting stronger (duh), my belief system about health and fitness--even about myself--is changing in positive ways.

Scott does a fantastic job of paying close attention to where you’re starting your journey and has an authenticity about him as you move through his program. Yes, he is a true expert in his field. Sure, he is all about your gains in the gym and provides incredible variety to ensure your body and mind don’t get too comfortable. Yep, definitely provides resources for handling nutrition but does so with patience and care.
