Julie (amazing person) who works here at the Genesis behind the gas station, gave me deal, that was apparently fake. Something about 60-75 bucks for the first 6 months then I will get charged monthly 70.05 every month for the 6 months and if I want to break it I have to pay all these fees. DO NOT COME HERE! There are 2 or 3 other gyms that are bigger in a half a mile radius that are better.

This is a fabulous gym. It has members of all ages who are very cordial and serious about their fitness and working out. The staff are all very friendly, encouraging and helpful. I’m always warmly greeted when I arrive with a “Hello” and “Have a great workout.” It’s also very clean and well maintained. Best gym I ever joined.

Genesis Health Clubs is hands-down one of the best fitness facilities I’ve been to. The workout equipment is all modern and well-maintained, so it’s easy to find exactly what you need for any type of training. They also offer a huge variety of fitness classes, so whether you’re into strength training, yoga, cycling, or HIIT, there’s always something to keep your workouts fresh.

I really appreciate the nutritional products they provide on-site—it makes fueling up before or after a workout super convenient. The trainers here are excellent: knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely invested in helping you reach your goals.

Out of all the locations around, this one does have the nicest staff and it’s always a good workout when I come in. So, not gonna lie, this location has had its issues in the past. In fairness to Genesis, however, many of these were inherited from its days as 24 Hour Fitness. Finally, things have turned around, and it has now become one of my favorite Genesis locations. It seems to be overlooked, largely because of its size, and location, with a premium location, down the street. But don't let that sway you.

Tucked away, behind Quick Trip, I find it to be a hidden gem. One of the issues of the past, was upkeep and maintenance of equipment. But recently, I have found that equipment in disrepair, gets attention in a very prompt and timely manner. More quickly than a lot of other Genesis locations. It is also kept nice and clean; a very noticeable improvement from the past. The sauna and spa area are really nice, and much cleaner than its sister site, down the street; although with the rennovations going on there, I'm sure that issue has been resolved. Franky, the Alden location steam room was just gross. Tthe remodel waa long overdue. But i digress as it is now brand new :)

The staff here, are friendly and helpful. Mariah Bryant, the cureent manager has great ambition for this club, which is infectious to the staff, who all seem genuinely happy to be there. Her vision for this site is awesome, and if the future plans for this location are acheived (and with her drive, I'm am hopeful they will be) I think Johnson County and Olatheans are in for a uniquue gym experience, geared towards more serious bodybuilders, while maintaining its current mission, providing a nice workout environment for all.

If and when these improvements are made, and the facelift is complete, I will happily upgrade my rating to a 5. This is a gym that has made a great turnaround. Only recently have I migrated back here.

One thing I really like, is the clientele of this location, seem more serious, for the most part. People are here to workout, and are generally courteous with limited cell phone use. Not a hoard of kids here, socializing and camping out on equipment, taking selfies, and running at the mouth. A definite issue down the street, where you can wait forever for all the broccoli haircut clones, to do a single rep, and vacate their claim on a bench.

This all said, if you haven't been to this location recemtly, give it another chance. You'll be pleaaantlly surprised.

Very bad administrative service, my son signed up 3 months before entering the air force military service. He signed off in January because he went to training, and they kept charging him and he came back and paid and he signed off again because he left Germany for 3 years and they sent him a letter that he has to pay 170.00 that is something that is not known. believe. I was willing to pay the late fee as stated in the contract but every time I went into the gym there “weren’t any staff available to do that.” I went on weekdays and weekends at various times, called the store, etc. it is impossible.

I love my gym community and the staff there. The facility is definitely due for an update. Most of the cables of the machines especially the freeforms are not adjusted propery and all over the place. One of them is pretty much always down. Would love for that to be taken out and replaced with maybe a deadlift platform? Or better yet, a belt squat machine would be amazing!

Seeing a few of the other Genesis locations get completely renovated and this one being left behind is a bit disheartening because this is my favorite location.

I enjoyed going to the genesis off Blackfoot. It’s a smaller environment and never super busy, so most the equipment is available in a timely manner. The staff was super helpful and really friendly. Was maxing out on bench today with my Beats by Dre blaring Eye of the Tiger. Felt a little frisky and added another 45 on. Gave a good push, but my arms couldn't push it up. Genesis is a very poorly run company and this gym in particular. After surgery I tried to cancel my membership I was told I had to come in to cancel. I came to do so before the deadline to avoid getting auto-charged the next month. No one was in the gym that could help me. I was told the manager would call me. He never did. While still recovering I returned a few days after the deadline and was told by the manger that he would request a refund for what I was charged since he wasn’t available when I came in prior to the deadline. That never happened. I called customer service and they kept putting it back on the manager to submit the request. He wouldn’t do it because I assume it would make him look bad for not being at the club on a weekday at 10am prior to my deadline. The issue was sent up to the VP and Regional manager, but my request for the refund was denied because the cancellation happened a few days after the deadline, even though that was the manager’s fault. I was told by customer service that the notes showed the manager talked to me on a given date, informing me there would be no refund. That NEVER happened. This company does NOT value its members. Equipment has also gotten stolen from the club because no one is often at the front desk, and as I found out managers aren’t around either.

I go to Yoga classes on weekends regularly. Instructors are nice and professional. I especially love Joni’s classes. Her classes are great combinations of mind, spirit, and physical. My fiance and I signed up for a no contract month to month gym membership in February, thought it would be a good gym to try out, man was I wrong. Every time I came in to use the gym they would tell me I don't have a membership at the gym after they already charged me for the membership (on my fiance card instead of my card like we discussed). I would have to show them my receipt before going to lift, After the third time of doing this I decided to cancel our membership . I made sure to cancel the membership within the Three day window to get our refund back for the first month. Here it is end of march and they have charged us twice since "canceling" our membership resulting in over 180$ charged to my fiance card that has overdrawn her bank account. I went in a dozen times and talk to the Manage Bryce and every time he ensure me that something will be done and then I don't hear from him. Tried calling costumer service and they wont answer the phone either. On top of dealing with membership issues this gym is very small and there is a lot of over used run down gym equipment.

I frequent Genesis Merriam, Genesis 110th St and the Olathe Club mainly for training. Trainer Kevin shifted over from East Olathe and I went there as well.I've had numerous trainers over about 10 years from Genesis in Wichita and now here in Kansas City. Kevin is super focused on my fitness journey and extremely professional. He has now trained me for the past couple of years. This gym used to be my favorite location, but the constant turnover in management and staff has made it a negative place. The new staff is so hard pressed on hitting sales #s they harass members and are against groups of friends working out together. The rules change with the staff. They need to update the gym if they want to bring in new members, make it a lifting/CrossFit type gym. That's wanted in the community. It could be a great gym if they'd make a few changes and listen to what the members want. It's not personal training.

Great location, great variety of machines, clean, equipment gets fixed in a timely manner. My only complaint is that this location (as well as a few other locations in the KC area) close too early on weekends.
