The Bar Method Kansas City - Leawood is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre, and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles. I've been going to The Bar Method for about 6 months now and it's incredible how different I feel! I started noticing a difference just in the first couple weeks! This might be the best I have ever felt physically. I have lost weight, gained muscle, have increased flexibility, better posture... the list goes on and on! I felt welcomed from the very beginning and feel a sense of community when I am there. The teachers are amazing and I always leave class feeling SO GOOD. Can't recommend The Bar Method enough!

Love these classes so much! The instructors are so nice and helpful. They show you what to do and compliment (and adjust) your technique so that you get the most out of the class. You don’t have to be in great shape to start but you’ll come out feeling healthier. After a class I feel stretched and rejuvenated. It’s excellent for all ages and sizes - and it’s a wonderful group of women (and an occasional guy) to spend the lunch hour with while getting into shape to fun music.

I have been going to Bar Method consistently for about 3 weeks now. Every time I go, I leave feeling so refreshed, stretched, and better than when I walked in. All of the instructors are so kind and correct me when I need help with my form - which has been quite a bit haha. I was hesitant to start barre because I was intimidated and not sure what to expect, but I feel stronger already and love the community!

love bar method. in my 1 year i have gotten stronger than ive ever been (im getting abs for the first time!!), it has helped me to handle injuries from other sports i play by strengthening my body, and has made me feel all around better most importantly. the community is also awesome, i love walking in for a class and running into so many familiar faces. increases my confidence, puts me in a good mood, instructors are all amazing and so kind. 10/10 couldnt recommend enough!

I was reluctant to take classes I’m not limber and thought I would feel out of place. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and the teachers are excellent. They do a great job of helping with needed modifications. I love the classes and especially enjoy how good I feel later in the day after working out.🏋🏻♂️

Great workout and very challenging! I never love to go to gyms but this is a whole new approach for workout and I am loving it! Really appreciate the instructors being welcoming and encouraging. The Bar Method has been a wonderful addition to my CrossFit workouts. It helps me to work the smaller, intrinsic muscles that get missed helping to aid in stability and injury prevention. Bar Method is also wonderful as I need to be tapping into lower impact and more Zone 2 work through my week. It is by far my favorite way to do that.

After being stuck in non-movement (a real rut) a friend posted on Instagram a new customer deal to try Bar Method & I'm so very glad I did. It is extremely challenging but completely doable for a beginner. My mantra from the start was "inside out", as I wanted to get strong & have no desire for six pack abs. The instructors each bring their own unique energy, but they all share great knowledge of alignment & technique so I've felt safe and mentored when I don't know what I'm doing much of the time. This expertise has kept me injury free, and noticable stronger after only 3.5 months. They are encouraging and the music is poppin'. Having fun whilst working really hard is a great combo for me. I feel like I get personal training attention & the energy and community from a group. The 45 minute class "express" with an hour full of moves is perfect. I just love it. One of the best decisions I've made.

I was a runner for many years but due to constant knee pain I had to find another form of exercise. Given how much I loved running and the results my body gets I was not sure another exercise would compare....I was wrong!! Barre has far exceeded my expectations and my arms, abs + glutes are testimony to that!! I am beyond glad I discovered Barre and their amazing instructors. I am a member for life.

All the women are so kind & welcoming—& they know their stuff! I’m super particular about “working out” (ie I don’t like it) & I steer well clear of any kind of exercise that feels punitive to me—physically or mentally. In a culture that focuses so much on controlling or taming our bodies I feel it’s necessary & important to take care of mine in a way that is intentionally loving & appreciative. Classes here are challenging but in an empowering way & a supportive environment. I am a yogi at heart & by trade & have found this to be a good addition to my practice.

The Bar Method (all KC locations) is an incredible workout, studio and community. I started at TBM when I was rehabbing from a chronic back issue. Other workouts I tried continued to re-injure my back before I could get strong enough to protect it. It was a terrible cycle! TBM offers modifications for everyone—all ages and abilities. With them I was able to protect my back while also getting really strong. The more you learn the exercises, the harder the workout becomes—perpetuating lean, strong muscles. I’m happy to say it’s been years since I’ve re-injured my back issue, and it’s largely due to my workouts at TBM. Last, but not least, the community of folks you workout with at TBM are incredible, encouraging and inspiring. Big, big fan of TBM!

I’ve really enjoyed the bar method for the past two weeks. The instructors are incredibly welcoming, providing corrections without being critical. Others in the class are also very kind! Workouts were for sure challenging but low impact which is great for my injured knee. I was always excited to sign up for another class!

If you want a solid, supportive community that keeps you accountable - this is the place for you. Here you learn physical therapist approved and created exercises that help you burn fat and carve muscle, the teachers are all so knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful. I’ve never liked going to classes much and this has changed my perspective on that, now I’m excited to wake up early and get my bar on! Love it so much!

I am older and out of shape. These instructors really help me by offering correct positioning so I do not get hurt and I can get through the class. All of the instructors are supportive and when my form is good they praise me. It is hard but feels so good! I hope for strength, balance, good posture, and weight loss, after 9 classes I know I am where I need to be for all of this and more!

I have been taking the bar method class for about 3 years now and it is one of the best things that I have ever done for myself. I have tried a number of different things to exercise all the way from cross fit and title boxing to running and yoga. I still do a little yoga and running, but for overall exercise the bar method is the best thing that I have found. If you stay focused during the classes, it will really work all parts of your body.
The instructors for the classes are a big part of what makes the classes great. They are very knowledgeable about how the exercises in the class should be done and are very helpful during the classes and if you have questions after a class.
I hope to continue taking the classes for a long time going forward and would like to see more guys join in the fun. I take classes at the Leawood studio and do not see very many guys taking the classes. I think for an older guy which I am, it is one of the best ways to get in an hour of exercise everyday and work a number of different areas of your body in one class.

I was looking for a place that I could safely exercise without incurring injury but yet see results. That's exactly what I found when I took my first class with Bar Method. The instructors are top notch, they know their anatomy and how the body functions. They correct form as needed and suggest alternative positions if needed. This is not a high impact class, no jumping and rushing through the moves but with their method and techniques your metabolism definitely fires up. I have seen my body change shape through the months and this was something I was unable to do on my own. I highly recommend Bar Method to everyone I talk to who is looking to get off the couch and start moving.

I love the Leawood Bar Method studio. Unlike lots of studios in the area, it is situated on a corner and wrapped with windows so every workout is infused with natural light and energy. It makes such a difference to be in that type of environment. The instructors are all fabulous, the workout is second to non and the community of men and women have become friends.

Bar Method honestly is the best workout I have ever experienced! You dont realize how intense it is when you're doing it but the results with lean muscle and toning come quick! It's expensive compared to a gym membership but in line with other specialty gyms but even better. The instructors are amazing!
