The parking situation is basically a consumer protection violation in my opinion. The number of teams (and inevitable spectators) invited to participate in a volleyball tournament was way beyond the capacity of the facility’s parking to accommodate. This led to dozens of cars circling like frustrated and hungry sharks.

This was not a β€œone-off” problem, but apparently a standard practice. The person taking the $12/person admission fee has a sign that says, β€œYes, I am aware parking sucks.”

Irresponsible and borderline deceptive to run a business (only accessible by driving) this way.

Not a mad parent but a concerned parent. All kids of every age deserve the opportunity to learn how the game of basketball should be played but most importantly play in a safe environment. To clarify, I'm talking about the encouraging of adults/coaches to intentionally hurt other players and take no accountabilty. What I don't see is anyone at MA advocating or enforcing safe play nor monitoring for unsafe behavior. Appears that refs are extremely poor in their ability to properly ref or know the game, leading to yeah, bad calls, which is going to happen, but more importantly leading to kids getting hurt. My kid has gone here for a few years now and it worsens every year. Just make the kids a priority, that is why you have a business. Take the time and invest into training and monitoring of actions both on and off the court. Address parent behaviors with positive but stern expectations. Be relentless when it comes to kid safety. Do BETTER MA! Your community demands it.

Went to watch a grandchild play a basketball game. Had to pay $20 for 2 of us to watch a kids game for 45 minutes. I watched kids slip and slide all over the place. Several got called for traveling when they tried to stop and slid 2 or 3 feet across the floor. I guess Mid America will start to clean the floors after they get sued when someone gets badly hurt! I will never give that joint a dime again to watch a game, and I would discourage anyone from booking games at this facility.

Nice facility with good ref squad. Hate that I have to pay every time I go for my whole family to watch a 3rd grade game. Which they had a family pas option or something similar.

Uneducated and trashy thugs make it impossible for anyone to enjoy a sporting event especially school parents from the fifth grade, girls Audubon's basketball team. This immature woman was using profanity at the refs in front of children and the male coach from Audubon condoned her behavior. These type of individuals are the reason our children are being labeled as derogatory terms. The Audubon school principal and Athletic director should intervene and remove this coach and #1's mom from interacting with any child and attending any sporting event. Take action!
The facility should also take accountability and ban hostile and tumultuous individuals from these events. Extremely disrespectful and distasteful behavior and actions from this lady.

This place is becoming dangerous for your children, all the money this facility brings in and they can't even wax the floors? The floors are the slickest I've ever seen, there are going to be children that get seriously hurt for a job that would take about a hour

If I could give a negative star I would. The staff at the check in desk are nasty and rude. They are disrespectful to the kids and the people as they walk in the door. One lady with glasses that works the front yelled at two kids they were just standing there not knowing where to go and today yelled at a few adults. I saw her yesterday yelling at a coach. The facility is ran down and to charge $7 for an adult and $4 for a kid to watch a 24 minute game is horrible. I can handle the facility but can you please hire people that are respectful and act like they want to be there to work.

It's a nice facility for kids but it's pretty greedy on their part to charge $5 per parent to come watch their kids playing games. It's very busy with crowded parking and uncomfortable seating. It's just excessive charges for a 1 hour event to watch your kids.

Because ther was no place to park. You really need to work on improving parking and people not getting there hrs before they need too.

I am writing this review as a Grandparent that has been attending basketball games at your facility( Watterson Trail) for 20plus years. Tonight 6/19/2024, I attended a basketball game at 7pm. on Court E at this facility.
The refs were the very worst I have EVER encountered!
It was obvious that one ref was going to determine how the outcome of the game would be from the very start of the game.
These young athletes work very hard, and deserve better.
The inconsistency of the calls makes it very confusing for these young athletes, much less their own safety!
The one male ref on this court was so into himself that he was more concerned on throwing a spectator out of the gym, than he was making the correct calls in this game. I don't think this would have happened at all if his calls had been consistent.
After the game that I was watching was over....It appeared there was a similar ( much worse) situation going on in your facility on Court B and the police had been notified.
So.... with all this being said... I ask you..." What kind of facility are you running?
#1... Unsafe Refs.
#2 Admission prices are ridiculous! Seems to me the business is more interested in the money than the families or customers.
It's very sad to see the condition this facility (on Watterson Trail) is in!
I have personally seen mold growing in the corners of the building. Bathrooms where toilets are either clogged, won't flush and/or out of order. Doors that don't lock on stalls.
So... obviously none of your profits are going into the up keep of this facility!
I would strongly advise any coach against choosing this facility for their future events!

I regret to say that my experience at this facility was extremely disappointing. Despite participating in a tournament, there was insufficient space and a complete absence of chairs. However, the most disheartening aspect was the treatment we received from the staff. Following a grueling day of volleyball, we were rudely asked to leave while waiting for teammates and aiding a member in locating her missing shoes. The staff member's demeanor was utterly unacceptable, lacking any understanding or compassion. It's bewildering that a venue hosting tournaments would have such inadequate facilities and employ such discourteous individuals. I strongly advise against choosing this facility for any future events.

Paid $10 to the coach and then $10 for my adult ticket. Walked in and it smelled like feet. Plus, it is not adequately heated in winter. I guess lots of places are trying to save $ on the electric cost this way. And like some other reviewers have said, player aggression runs high here. These kids are constantly falling on the floor. I've never heard our kids scream in pain like this.
Review went to 2 stars after I had to hold the bathroom stall door closed with my knee and I was disciplined for walking down the wrong hallway. Now the concession line is long because they only have one person working it. A man behind the counter coughed into his hand in the middle of winter. I dunno. Disgusted at this point.

Been a long time basketball dad, and many years of sitting up at Mid-America. I don’t completely know the economics of running a space of 100,000s of square feet, so I’m trying to be open minded. Overall, the service they provide is needed. It’s a safe, nicely maintained space with a nice concession area. Parking is good, and the location is easily accessible from I-64. It’s well air conditioned, and in fact, you’ll want to bring a jacket. I’ve never witnessed major drama there, and they usually have police present during tournaments.

The downside is of course the price. It’s typically $50-60 for two adults for the weekend, depending if you buy the tournament pass or go day by day. Add on $10/day for each student/child per day , and you can quickly hit $100 for a family of 4 watching a 3-4 game tournament weekend. And you can’t switch out with your spouse/partner. Each person has to pay the individual fee, so you can’t split watching duties with someone else. So for example, we live here, and it would be nice if we could buy a weekend pass and my wife go one day and I go the next. Or, another nice option would be a family rate with a max out of pocket. Anyway, the parking lot is always full so maybe the pricing is just right and I’m just too tight.

One last observation is the teams pay a tournament fee. Not sure what it covers but it’s hundreds of dollars so I think it covers refs and maybe space?

This is by far the worst location we have been to for bball games. The refs are absolutely horrible. There are clear favorites and the refs make it very clear with the lack of calls. There is a huge lack of concern of the safety of the kids. Be prepared for very aggressive playing to the point of kids getting hurt in several games. I will recommend to anyone looking for a place for their kids to play to steer clear of this location at all costs.
Don't try to complain to administration as they are more concerned with their cell phones and socializing.
It's gotten so bad I would rather my child just miss a game than play there ever again.

Parking is incredibly inadequate for volleyball tournaments. Not allowing people to bring in their morning coffee or what not just shows a disgusting level greed because folks are going to be there for hours anyway & will end up using your concessions. Garbage cans are many times overflowing. Restroom hand dryers are essentially useless. One last thing...bleacher seats are not socially acceptable. Seating on bleachers is tight enough. When someone is in front of you in one of those seats, there isn’t room for your legs. If they sit behind you, their knees are in your back.

It's a shame that this is the only place in town to go. The games are called unfairly with bias. And if you complain, they send the boss to stand at the end of the court to watch. Of course that will always stop it for the time. But it will and does happen again and again. The referees need to be trained. And they need to be watched from afar. The only way these kids are going to learn is a fair game, called the same on both sides.

I really hate that this is the only legit place to play basketball. We've been in AAU tournaments in multiple states for the last 4 years, and Mid America overall is the worse for refs. Sometimes it's even in our team's favor, but it's still terrible for the players. The concessions are normally priced, but admission varies from $4-$8 each day, which $8 to watch one game is high, especially when the Adidas Gauntlet only charges $10-$15 and there are college recruiters there.

no parking it was the worst set up for an arena that size I paid at door gave $20. for admission for two would have been $8.00 . the lady gave me $2.00 change started to put it in my pocket and realized that it was $10. short told the lady she just reached up and handed me a $10.00 bill with no sorry or oops and anything , after discussion it with my wife we both agreed that it was intentional she never blinked an eye when she handed the money back .
My advice if you go there best to count your change and get there early if you want to be able to park , parking must be a problem all of the business have signs saying no parking in their areas ,they threatened to tow car this morning for parking in the wrong place .
The above is my opinion with my experiences with the Mid America Sports Center today
