Great gym did not like my interaction with Ms.Michelle though but will not discourage me from enjoying the facility amenities and the rest of the staff is wonderful

The workout circuit is amazing. It sets each machine for your size and the weights that you need. There's a spinning class and state of the art treadmills and elliptical and much more.

Clean, well lit, odor free space with a wide variety of exercise equipment on hand from machine-guided to free weights. They also offer an array of exercise related classes. Separate men's and women's locker rooms including showers. It's a terrific facility in downtown Baron Rouge.

UPDATE 2023 10 06: for an additional $5.00/month fee members can have 24-hour access to the facility. This is a good thing if your schedule sometimes prevents access during their normal operating hours.

I’ve worked out at this location for years , left and went to other workout facilities and it’s not the same so I decided to come back home where it’s not to crowded and you don’t have to stand in line to wait to use any equipment.

I feel so lucky to have the Y downtown near my office. It's so convenient to get my workout in during lunch. The staff is wonderful and always so friendly. When I'm not working out on my own, I am attending the 12p-1p circuit and HIIT classes with Krashina and she is a gem, as well as the class. It's exactly what I've been looking for, and has really helped!

My only request is better music throughout the gym.

I signed up a few weeks back, got a referral discount. My fee hits at the regular rate, so I call the downtown office and was told the "lady" in charge of discounts is too busy to go in and apply the discounts this month, but its ok because im not the only one who got jipped on their discount. I basically was told to suck it up this month. The woman I signed up with in no way disclosed that my discount would depend on whether someone had time to apply it to my account each month and I would be screwed if she was to busy. I like the gym equipment, but I cannot tolerate a company who does not honor an agreement made with a customer. The management at the YMCA is very disappointing to say the least.

Focusing on building strength so I appreciate the weights area. Good options for people who are doing barbell exercises and I like that they have the Rogue weights that are the size of a 45lb weight but in different weight variations. That makes my workouts with deadlifts or barbell rows much easier. Also the staff are great, always nice and happy to greet or help people.

YMCA allowed me a trial membership to use the facilities while relocating and living in hotel across the street. Great value for you $ and now i use the Y's across BR area, depending on if I am at work, home, or playing tennis.

Great Gym, but very hard to get to if you work long days. Hours are 5-8 m-f. Would be great if they went to 9.
