Moved in from California and we liked at a few gyms before we chose Misfits. The culture is friendly and the staff is extremely knowledgeable. The members are extremely fit and the programming is why. We live it here!!

This gym has arguably the highest caliber of coaching youβll find anywhere in the world. The coaches here arenβt just knowledgeable, theyβre deeply invested in helping you move better and want you to become a more well-rounded athlete through some of the most thoughtful and effective programming out there.
Iβve dropped into a lot of gyms across the country, and crossed paths with a lot of CrossFit coaches, especially through my time competing and being part of the adaptive community. Iβve seen whatβs out there, and I can confidently say MisFit Gym Portland is different. From the moment you walk through the door, you feel the difference. For that full hour you're here, the coaches are all-in. No distractions, no going through the motions, you genuinely feel like you're getting one-on-one attention every class. They care about your experience and your progress, and it shows in everything they do.
The community is welcoming, uplifting, and genuinely supportive. If you're worried that you need to "get fit" before starting CrossFit, or if you feel self-conscious walking into a gym, this is the place that can change all of that. No judgment. No ego. Just good people doing hard things together.
All you have to do is walk through the front door. The coaches and the community will take care of the rest and it will change your life just like itβs changed mine.

I started a training course at Misfit Gym about three weeks ago. Kyle has been a wonderful coach, and his training has been great as my husband and I step into the sport of CrossFit. The environment has been very friendly and welcoming. They have a lot of classes that will suit anyone's schedule. I emailed Misfit Gym to gather more information, and Kyle responded within a few hours. He was very kind and invited us to their Sweaty Saturday class. We showed up for that class, and Kyle got us all set up for our first CrossFit session! He allowed us to be part of his group and explained everything from start to finish. He then got us started with a three-week training course to learn all the techniques. I'm looking forward to becoming more fit, healthy, and being part of the growing community at Misfit Gym!

the coaches at Misfits are all excellent. They provide exceptional programming, individualized coaching within the class and are wonderfully supportive. This gym truly feels like a community with members welcoming newbies and coaches taking time to include everyone regardless of skill. They have a rare ability to integrate a class of elite athletes through to complete noobs, while making everyone feel challenged, confident and included. no matter where you are on your fitness journey the misfit coaches will make you feel welcome.

This is the best CrossFit experience I've ever had, having sampled or belonged to 6 or 7 gyms the past decade. Safe, welcoming, and a great spectrum of athletes and beginners. The focus is on form and function and every exercise has a scaled option. The community is really open and supportive. I'm 40 something and it's awesome to work out with fire breathing 20 somethings, super fit seniors, and people brand new to CrossFit.
The beginner class is really helpful, even for me returning after a year hiatus. It's three weeks of dedicated coaching, included in the regular membership, and a great on-ramp to learning the moves and the people.
Coaching staff is top notch. Class sizes are thoughtfully limited to make the most of the space and time. The physical space itself is fantastic.
The hardest thing about fitness is habit forming and motivation. Join the misfits and you won't have to worry about either. Sign up, show up, make friends, get sore, get fit, live longer and happier.

I love this gym! The coaches are next level, the members are friendly and unpretentious, and the beginner class sets you up for success. There are also many different classes and times to choose from, and Iβve never had any issues getting into a class or canceling one last minute. 10/10 would recommend.

This is an incredible gym to drop-in to if you are in the area. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They meet you where you are at and take your injuries into consideration when scaling. Sweaty Saturday is an absolute blast! I wish I lived up there. I canβt wait until the next time I visit. It is the most impressive CrossFit gym I have ever been to.

I've been a member at another local Crossfit (also great) and what makes Misfit stand out is the workouts ("programming") - it is always FUN and they do a lot of lifts/strength and then keep their workout conditioning very short (rarely do we do conditioning for more than 15 minutes at time). What that does is increases the intensity you can bring to every workout - "It's only 12 minutes," you tell yourself (mwahaha). My other gym often programmed longer pieces (25-40 minutes) and I found it boring, a slog, and I didn't bring that speed and intensity that I bring to a shorter version. They're kind of psychological wizards here in that sometimes it's "4 minute workout, 2 minutes rest, a 8 minute work out, 2 minutes rest ..." so you may work out for 25 minutes, as an example, but it's broken up so you can always do your best, with that glorious promise of rest.
The focus on the powerlifts and the Olympic lifts is what's fun for me, but the gym also offers "Engine" classes with a long cardio focus, if that's your thing. They also offer "hatchet" 90 minute class if 60 minutes isn't enough for you. They don't advertise it, but there are a lot of little bonuses to going to this gym: They have a podcast with more information, they have a clothing line and often give away great swag for $5 or $10 at the gym, they will help you with very very basic nutrition as part of your membership, and their coaches are always eager to stay an extra 5 minutes to help you learn a skill, they have beginner classes.
Anyone at any skill level could join and get results. If you're wondering why you would pay so much to go to a gym and not pay $10 to go to Planet Fitness, it's because you'll WANT to come in 4-6 times a week here (seriously).

If you've debated trying CrossFit at any point in time, this is the gym to give it a go. Misfit is my gym home and I'd beyond recommend it.
The coaches/staff are well trained and have eagle eyes, they can spot a bad lift/form a mile away, at night, through the fog with their backs turned to you. It's like working out with Moody's magical eye scanning the room. But really, form is important and they harp on it for good reason keeping everyone in their classes safe, especially me. A 3peat ortho surgery patient with knee and ankle issues who modify's almost everything.
Your fellow gym goers are friendly and encouraging. They will introduce themselves and welcome you to the gym. Then when you're in the middle of a workout thinking how am I going to complete this one, they cheer you on, run beside you or push you to dig deep and finish.
If you can't tell, I am a big fan of the environment that has been created at the Misfit gym, it's worth a shot, maybe you'll find your home too.

My fiance and I joined this gym back in October, and we are so happy that we did. The community is extremely inviting and supportive. We had found we were struggling to stay motivated on our own and we absolutely love having the support of others. The classes are fun and they can be scaled to your level which we love. If you're looking to expand your fitness goals and looking to be involved in classes which are programmed and coached look no further!

I feel very lucky to call Misfit Gym Portland my home CrossFit gym. I have worked out in many other CrossFit gyms between living in other states and traveling for work. MF is by far the best gym I have ever done CrossFit at.
It all starts with the coaching and programming for me. Good coaching and good programming are both necessary to have a great gym and MF has both. The programming has a good amount of variety while also being focused and allowing me to improve and measure my progress. The programming is designed in a way that allows coaches to adapt the work to meet any members needs. In addition to the normal CrossFit style class which involves usually a lift and an endurance piece, MF offers a variety of other class options. There is engine class, which improves your endurance, Olympic Lifting class which allows you to work on the techniques of lifts and get stronger, Hatchet class which allows you to push yourself even a little farther than normal class, and Bootcamp which focuses more on body weight and endurance movements with some light dumbbells thrown in. I love that I can pick from all these during the week to meet my goals and my needs during the week.
As I said before great programming is only half of the equation of a great gym. The other half is the coaches. The coaches at MF are knowledgable, caring, and dedicated to helping everyone improve. They support athletes where they are and help them achieve their current goals. They have helped me during the times when I was fittest I've been and wanted to get even stronger, and times, when I've had an injury and been limited in what I could do, but also through pregnancy and modifying my training to stay active and healthy all the way to 41 weeks pregnant. Coaches spend time every class reviewing form for movements, going over ways to optimize the workout to your needs, guiding us through good warm-ups and mobilization. During class, coaches check in with members continuous throughout the class. They are always actively engaged in what is happening in class. They help us pick the right workout to meet their goals and make sure the workout offers us the correct stimulus. They check on form of movements to make sure everyone is safe as well as helping us find small improvements we can make to improve.
Another thing that sets MF apart is the community. When I moved here 4 years ago I didn't know a ton of people but joining MF gave me an instant friend group. People were welcoming right away. They reached out to learn who you are and invite you to events outside of class. The gym itself also organizes community events which bring everyone together. We have cookouts, educational talks at the gym, nights out in Portland with a big group of people, and much more! I love the community I get to be part of at MF. the community is also a huge part of each class for me. Each day you have people there supporting you in reaching your goals and celebrating your accomplishments with you. The community is what gets you to show up on the days you don't feel like it. I think the commodore of CrossFit is what has supported me to be consistent in working out and ultimately making it possible to achieve the goals I set for myself.

This place is not like a global gym. The minute you walk through the door you feel at home. You get a warm greeting from the nice people at the desk who can answer any question you have. The merchandise is set up in a visually appealing way (and cost a reasonable price). When you walk around the corner you see a large open floor with a pull-up rig down the middle. As you walk over to the lockers you are greeted by the members in a friendly manner. The coach will come over and introduce them self and find out your background with fitness. The main goal is to make sure you get a great workout in the safest way possible. Once class starts, the coach will explain the warm-up, lift, and workout. During the lift and workout the coaches are always walking around to make sure everyone has good form. They will also modify the workout to make sure you get the most out of it. It's a good mix of people. Some are very fit and other are just starting their journey. Either way, it feels like a family and the best way to start your journey is by dropping in a class or the free workout session they have on Saturday's. The biggest part of this gym and community is the people. The more in shape people are usually done with the workout first, but they come over and motivate you to finish the workout. I will be coming back

Such an amazing gym!!
The coaches are very knowledgable. Athletes of all ages and abilities are welcomed, and coaches are great about modifying workouts to any skill level or around any injuries. I leave each class feeling like I have learned something new.

What a fantastic gym! Two key factors that make this gym incredible are the quality of the coaching and the welcoming community.
Each coach is highly knowledgable and brings a level of personal care and expertise to each class that is hard to find elsewhere. I am constantly learning new things and it is clear that the coaches want your hour or hour and a half class experience to be the best part of your day.
The community has also been super welcoming. The community is made up of all ability levels and the coaches work with you one on one to adapt workouts to your own skill and comfort level.
