I typically do not write Google reviews, but after the 4th time of this happening, enough is enough. honestly I wish a 0 star was an option. My husband and I have cancelled our memberships months ago. They have paperwork of our cancellation, and they have authorized our credit cards every month since our cancellation. We have been promised numerous times the issue was fixed and the charges would be put back. The charges were never put back on our card, till we got our credit card company involved. We honestly would have been interested in joining back again at some point, but this has made it unpleasant and never trust them again. And we used to be all about the culture and the atmosphere. At this point this is fraud as they are wrongly charging our accounts. I don’t want an apology from the manager, I just want them to stop authorizing our card. Honestly though, an apology from a manager is unlikely. I’ve called multiple times to talk to Scott and can’t get a phone call back. I’ve talked to him once and he stated he’d fix the issue. that was unreliable. I would recommend to anyone who gets wrongly charged once, to get a new card, as they will keep making attempts to auth it. At this point, we have made a report with the BBB, as orange theory hasn’t corrected the mistake and we continue to be charged. I do not recommend orange theory to anyone

Orange Theory Fitness always gives me a great workout. Coach Ryan is great. He advises me on modifications I need, he explains the exercises clearly, and he keeps the class smiling and motivated. Jeremiah, at the front desk, keeps everything running smoothly. He greets us with a warm smile and his friendly demeanor makes the place feel like family.

I need someone telling me what to do and holding me accountable, but I don't like group/boot camp workouts where someone else is relying on me and my performance. OTF gives you an intense cardio and strength training workout without the pressure of holding someone else up! You are pushed to do your best by your coach and the accessibility of your heart rate at all times. It has changed my life for the better. Thanks OTF!

I love Orangetheory and the team in SoPo! I’m a coach myself and I love just being able to show up for my workout and have a fun and challenging workout already planned for me and get coaching from some amazing coaches and not have to think too much about it. The variety in workouts with the different challenges keeps things interesting and fun as well. The staff is awesome there and my favorite coach is Coach Erica! I’ve never been one to work out. But with changes to my health, a friend recommended OTF. Three years later, I see a change in my endurance and strength. The coaches are encouraging but not demanding. Classes are structured with alternate exercises for all ages and injury levels, and the inclusive environment allows me to feel motivated without being watched or judged. Give it a try.

As a father of 2 young kids, I needed to find way to get back into exercising and Orangetheory was perfect fit. The best selling point I got was, as a parent, I spend a lot of time telling kids what to do, with Orangetheory, I can go to the gym and have someone tell me what do and not have to think about it or come up with an exercise plan. I love the variety, keeps it fun and interesting. Also love the data. My favorite coaches are Erica and Ryan. I appreciate Erica's tips on floor exercises. I've never done floor exercises so I'm thankful for the tips to get the motions right. I love Ryan's enthusiasm and how he explains the different zones.

I started at OTF while finishing up my chemotherapy treatment at the end of the pandemic. Never thought I'd love it, but I needed some sort of coaching exercise to help my body and get moving more. Two and a half years later and I can't go more than a week without CRAVING a workout! The coaches are amazing! The workouts aren't easy, but everything can be modified as needed. They do a great job helping me with my bad wrist. There are plenty of time options for early morning and then one for those of us who like to go in the evening. So.Po, Portland and Rock Row work together sometimes, too, so it's nice to be able to go to any of the ones in the area. The app is super easy to use and I love how everything is tracked!

Today marked my 392nd class and I was reflecting on how life changing my experience has been with OTF South Portland.

Prior to OTF, I paid for gym memberships that I never used. They were always crowded, my routines were always the same, the experience was isolating for me, I did not see results, and I had no one (besides myself) to support and motivate me.

At OTF the experience was completely different. The workouts are always different, I don’t have to think about them, there is always a spot, the energy in the class is always upbeat, and I am in the best shape of my life.

What makes OTF different for me is the people. The coaches (Izzy, Erica, and Emily) are truly the best. They really help with every workout and get to know you as a person.

There are days I barely have the energy and motivation to get to class. They can tell and are supportive no matter what level my work out is. There is never any pressure to push myself beyond what I can do.

My classmates are amazing! Being an older, out of shape dude, I thought at first I would not fit in. That could not be further from the truth. Everyone is so different and unique, with their own stories and journey, but very supportive. I have met a lot of really great new friends.

Erika who manages all of the classes keeps things fun and is always eager to help. She is so welcoming to new people trying out classes for the first time.

I now get up at 3:45 in the morning, drive 35-40 mins for 5 am classes 2-4 times a week. I used to be a person who could never motivate to go to the gym.

If I can do it, anyone can. I encourage anyone looking to make a difference in their fitness and mental health reach out to Erika and try a free class. That is how I started and have not looked back.

I have always been really good at going to the gym, and working out by myself. It was something I took pride in. Then one day, something changed and my gym visits became sporadic and lackluster. I needed something more after having my second child, and then one of my friends told me I should do a free class at Orange Theory. I definitely stalled and put it off for a while but the day I walked in there LITERALLY changed my life. Everyone was so welcoming, the classes were challenging but easy to modify if needed and making it your own personal self care hour is easy. The first coach I met was coach Ryan and let me tell you, he HOOKED me. He’s amazing, but can’t make a class with coach Ryan? That’s ok, the other coaches, Erica, Izzy, Vanessa, Jenn, they are all absolutely incredible, and all have their own unique way of motivating and encouraging you. The sales assistants and managers at the front are hilarious and so good at what they do, and everyone there just really seems like they love people, love the workouts and especially BELIEVE in the workouts. They have kept me accountable, they have comforted me when I felt like I wasn’t fast enough or strong enough… I literally can’t recommend Orange Theory more. It’s given me whole new attitude about self care, mental and physical health and accountability. In the 6 months I’ve been with Orange Theory, I’ve progressed in my physical goals unbelievably, and I’m thankful that there is so much more life I can look forward to now.

This studio, the staff & coaches and it's members are all 5 star. I have been coming here for 4 years now and it has transformed my body and my life. Coach Ryan is a fan fave, Coach Erica has gotten me through so many of my life humps and she is inspirational and pushes us to be our best. Coach Vanessa is fairly new to this studio and has quickly become one of the best. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of our coaches, they all are fun, energetic and dedicated. I started with OTF 6 months back via the ‘first class free’ promo with no real expectations other than hoping for a good sweat. I got hooked about halfway through that class. I love that I just show up - follow the (all of them are great) coach’s lead and get a solid and satisfying workout. I found Orangetheory two months after they opened here in South Portland and have been here ever since! I love the combination of cardio and strength and the benchmarks and booking classes keeps me accountable. The best part, however, is the staff! All of the coaches are great (love my 6am's with Erica and Emily) and Erika at the front desk is absolutely awesome! She works the front desk alone for some very busy times and she always is calm and cheerful...even at 5 am! Jeremiah is great too! He's always smiling. This place is fantastic. I joined 3 months ago (May 2024). I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The workouts are great, fellow members are positive and friendly, and the entire staff is helpful and supportive. As a doctor of physical therapy, I’m very critical of exercise philosophies…I have only praise for the coaches and workouts. I go more often than I expected (4-5/week) and look forward to every single session. Highly recommend.
UPDATE: I’ve been here 7 months and am loving it. OTF is part of my life. The whole staff is awesome…Ryan, Emily, Izzy, Erica, Joshua, Jenn), Vanessa, Noah (sorry to any other coaches I’m missing) are top notch. I LOVE OrangeTheory South Portland!!!

This one of the first real workout groups/classes/etc. that has really been able to stick for me. Classes are challenging and exciting and I always leave feeling energized - which was a target goal of mine. After only a few months, I still feel like each class is exciting and each class is upbeat and fun. I feel stronger and healthier than I have in a while (my knees are building muscle every day) and it's all to OrangeTheory!! There's a lot of focus on strength, which I know future older me will be thankful for.

One of the best parts of OrangeTheory South Portland is the amazing staff. Each staff member is so professional, knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, upbeat, and has made a point to get to know my name and extend a conversation. It's so refreshing! The atmosphere continues to be welcoming and fun thanks to the amazing staff. The fun raffles, games, trivia nights, competitions (Hell Week), are a great, fun touch too!

Special shoutout to Coach Ryan!! He's a TON of fun and great laugh. He's welcoming and really makes a point to check in - whether by face-to-face or email - to see how things are going. I’ve been an Orangetheory member for almost 7 years and have visited many studios across the US. While the equipment and workouts are pretty standard regardless of studio, OTF SoPo stands out because of their incredible coaching staff!

Since becoming a Maine resident and joining SoPo as my “home” studio in 2019, I’ve always felt super welcomed, encouraged and challenged on a daily basis!! I love the community feeling that you get at OTF and having amazing coaches keeps me coming back - even on the days i don’t want to.

OTF is the best and I can’t say enough about Coach Ryan! Our son was born during a rare August snow storm! The roads were so horrible that the doctor couldn’t get to the hospital. We were worried there would be no doctor to deliver our son. Imagine our relief when we looked up and saw Coach Ryan’s smiling face walking through the door!

Fast forward 6 months and our son needed to be baptized. Wouldn’t you know he priest couldn’t make it to the church on time. Luckily Coach Ryan was available to handle the duties.

Wouldn’t you know I broke down in the middle of nowhere on my way to class. I was so bummed that I was going to miss class. So there I am, no cell reception, no clue where I am anyway and not houses around to ask for help from. As I am sitting there I look up in my rear view mirror and see this guy smiling and waving, yup, you guessed it, Coach Ryan was there to save the day.

I know nothing about cars or automotive work. With nothing more than a couple zip ties, a rubber band, and a 10mm socket Coach Ryan was able to figure out there was a problem with my Flux Capacitor and he rigged up a solution that worked for me to still get to class on time.

There is very little Coach Ryan wouldn’t do for members of OTF, but he is very modest so he’d much rather we talk about how awesome all of the other Coaches are at OTF SoPo.

I love OTF. If you are looking for a good workout class this is the place! Many of my friends have questioned why I go to OTF instead of planet fitness. Let me lay it out this way:
-you get a friendly coach who encourages you to push harder.
-the staff knows your name
-a good variety of exercises (every class is different)
-you work harder than you would independently
-its fun!
-you meet new people and get used to familiar faces in your classes
-the coach guides you through excersies and can correct errors before injury occurs.
-you are only competing against yourself

I can go on but you've probably stopped reading and signed up for your first class.

Edit: I posted this 4 years ago and it still is 100% true. Since I posted this there was a pandemic where the studio had to shut for a bit but they still encouraged at home workouts. I broke my ankle and had to pause my membership for a few months but it was super easy to come back. I think the fitness helped with my recovery. And the best this that happened is i upgraded my membership so i can go whenever i want. Thankfully everything is back to normal now. OTF is part of my daily routine and I feel off when I don't have my workout

I love Orangetheory! It's not cheap, but I figure my body is worth at LEAST as much as a low range Kia lease. I started going 8 months ago and this is honestly the longest I've maintained regular fitness in over 10 years. I think it's due to the magic formula: great coaches, great community, easy parking (right at the mall!), varied workouts, a perfect mix of cardio and weights, and bangin' playlists that keep you moving. I look forward to taking the hour to clear my head, and I always feel better when I leave. Orangetheory has done wonders, not just for my physical health but for my mental health as well. I highly recommend it!

I have worked out at OTF South Portland for about a year and a half and it's well worth the money. The coaches, particularly Coach Ryan, are knowledgeable and supportive. I never feel like I am being judged or pressured to perform beyond what I'm capable of. At the same time, I have received encouragement and tips for improving my workout. There is a mix of different ages, skill levels, and personalities that make it a welcoming gym. Terrible place to workout due to the short time to warm up, couple of bad impolite and unprofessional coaches. The staff is alright but selective to certain students. Also the workouts are inaccurate, causes injuries and good luck if you want any good resulta. You will be better off workout somewhere else since there are much better gyms here in Portland. I was very nervous about starting at Orange Theory because I did not have great experiences when joining other gyms or using a personal trainer. I like how there is no judgment and you can go at your own pace. Also changing up what you are doing is definitely a plus for me as I often get bored with my workout and then quit. OTF is an amazing fitness studio. The workouts are for a group, and we are sharing 1 trainer, however the results are individual. You feel comfortable working at your own pace and soon find yourself moving from a power walker to a runner. No matter what level you are at physically the trainers encourage and motivate you, they don't push or make you feel inadequate.
I wish I could attend more classes, as this is the only workout/fitness theory that has given me the results I've always struggled to achieve. Kudos OTF!!!!!

What's not to love about a 60 minute class where you burn a ton a calories and walk out feeling that you accomplished something. The Coaches and Staff are friendly and push you, if you need/want pushing. I burned over 960 calories in each of the two classes I took there this week. If you like a challenge or if you are just a beginner, they will make you comfortable. Come sign up for a free class, you wont regret it (maybe a little the next day from being sore)

This place is unlike any other gym I have been to, they go above and beyond!!! The customer service you get from the front desk is outstanding, they always greet you by your first name because they want members to feel like they are more than just a membership they are more like a family.
The coaches are super helpful, they push you to achieve your goals and are there to help you get the results you want. If you have any worries about doing some of the exercises they are there to find a solution and come up with other variations/modifications.
Lastly their involvement with the community is HUGE, they get groups together for races/runs and help donate to charities. This is more than just your typical gym. I will 100% recommend you give it a try at least once, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
