I got a really bad case of ringworm from their moldy showers all over my body. I had to go on 2 steroids and use over the counter topicals. I was able to easily cancel but I reached out to management to get a refund for the 2 months I couldn’t go and he only gave me one and was rude over the phone. When I asked for his boss he said no and said I won’t be able to find him on Google, which was a lie.

This PF is incredible compared to Windham (as far as PFs go), but I have to change my review after finding out they have hidden cancelation fees for their “No Commitment” membership! Just had to pay $58 to cancel!

Decent amount of machines and workout space, but like all PFs, this place is more for older people or individuals who aren’t super serious about lifting. I thought I could deal with only having 75lbs dumbbells, but after three months, I had to make a change.

Go to Fitness Factory or NXGen if you’re serious about lifting/fitness.

Would be a fine gym but in the early/mid afternoons groups of teenagers come through and they act awful. Making fun of

I have had a membership for the at least 5 or so years and I always wanted to get fully into it. I tried. I even tried to do the falmouth gym last year but no luck. The trainers were ok but it didn't go too far.
So normally I go to the marginal way gym to do treadmill here and there and the massage table and chair. Well a few weeks ago I walked in and there was the new trainer Toure Wallace with a big smile and excitement at the entrace. We just hit it off and in the last 3 weeks I have been working out and loving it! I feel comfortable using all the equipment and I see what works best for me. There is a new energy there and it feels great! Thanks Toure! I'm spreading the word. 👍💪 😊

Before I started going to Planet Fitness I was very nervous to join a gym. The thought of gawkers really intimidated me. But I did it and when I started going it was clear that it is a very chill gym where folks are getting their workout on. The front desk folks are super welcoming and friendly, and everyone I have crossed paths with in the weight rooms has been polite and kind.

Every time I come in to work out, Jada always greets me warmly, and sometimes the personal/fitness trainer does as well (I didn’t catch his name—sorry!). I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concerns about my experiences at the Portland Planet Fitness location. While I appreciate the availability of fitness facilities in our community, I feel compelled to address some issues regarding the treatment of former employees and the overall atmosphere within the gym.

It has come to my attention that several former employees of this location were treated disrespectfully and were not valued for their contributions to the team. This disregard for staff not only affects the morale of current employees but also reflects poorly on the overall environment of the gym.

Moreover, I have noticed that the current employees do not seem to embody the same level of kindness and welcoming spirit that I observed in the past. Each time I walk into the gym, I often see staff members on their phones, appearing unapproachable and disengaged. This lack of professionalism and attentiveness makes it challenging for members to feel comfortable and supported during their workouts.

A welcoming environment is crucial for any fitness facility, and I believe that fostering a positive culture among your staff can greatly enhance the experience for all members. I hope you will consider addressing these concerns to ensure that Portland Planet Fitness continues to be a place where individuals feel respected and motivated.

I am a Black Card member, and I have the awesome privilege to travel around to different Planet Fitness locations all over Maine. My overall experience at Planet Fitness is great! I don't feel judged whenever I work out. I believe it is the most important thing for me. I could wear whatever I'd like to the gym—appropriate attire, of course—and not feel like people are staring me down for being myself. The environment feels comfortable. Yes, there are bodybuilders, but it doesn't strictly feel like a Mount Olympian gym. It really depends on how you perceive it. The affordability of the membership is fair. I think it's affordable. One thing I have been thinking about for a while now is the possibility of bringing new equipment to Planet Fitness. Nothing specifically, but just a thought. It would be interesting to see a new contribution to the variety of equipment that Planet Fitness already has. Planet Fitness staff is friendly and has never had many issues.

A different set up from Planet Fitness' I have visited. The building 🏢 was probably an office, without Steve Carell, building before being converted into a fitness club. There are two floors, an 🛗 elevator and lots of windows 🪟. The cardio area, vending machines, massage chairs or bed 🛏️ and sun tanning booths are on the first floor. The second 🥈 floor has the weights, individual exercise machines, cable stations, weight benches, locker 🛅 rooms and stretching areas. The second floor allows you to walk all around to access ♿ everything. There are water 💦 fountains on both floors. I like the windows 🪟 because it opens up the floor and gives you a view of the city 🏙️🌆.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The check in is the same but to reserve a message chair 💺 or tanning booth, you have to check ✔️ in again.
The men's 🛅 locker room was in good condition. It has something I have never seen in Planet Fitness and I 🤔 thought the founder didn't want to install it, a weight scale ⚖️. I liked it especially since it was accurate. There are no hand ✋ dryers. The shower 🚿 area looks good.
And now the bad news. I was concerned about visiting after reading some of the Google Maps reviews. What I read is not what I encountered. There were weight slammers that actually shook the floor. There were also a few litter 🚮 bugs. Some of the equipment and one of the massage chairs needs attention.
Overall, I would visit again and I will give a recommendation on this Planet Fitness.

The regulars here are great. Never had an issue with machine or weight availability and it's actually kept pretty clean. My only complaint is the lack of maintenance done on the facility itself. They've been down to one functioning water fountain for SIX MONTHS. The one in the cardio room was removed a long time ago with no replacement, and the one in the machine room has been flashing a "change filter warning" and gibberish on the display for at least four months. The final water fountain near the weight room has been out for a week and the staff doesn't seem to know when any of it is getting fixed. It's nice that they offer free water in the meantime, but you have to fill up your bottle in the bathroom if you want to avoid using single use plastic. It's pretty inconvenient.

I like the work out equipment, but this place is dirty and as nasty as I’ve ever seen. Anyone who says different, dose not know what CLEAN consists of. Hair everywhere, dirt and who know what on the tanning beds. I don’t know how this place get any business. I guess people look past it.🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤯🤯

With their new rules around tanning here too leaves you hoping from one location to the next while your being questioned because they can’t work their radiance system correctly.
They need to get up to speed with their systems or the next time I’m refused my rights to the membership I will contact the BBB. We were in Portland for the weekend and we appreciate the consistency between Planet Fitnesses. One 'consistency' we didn't expect was it seemed as humid in the building as one in Florida. Some air movement, especially on the 2nd floor, would go a long way!

Do not sighn up for their $25 a month promotion. They don't tell you about the extra $50 a month for the annual fee.
They have doubled charged me every month fir the $25. Witchyas caused my account to overdraft and I was hit with extra fees. When I went cancle they denied until I payed and mind you I had paid for that month, so I had to pay double.

Overall it was a good visit here. They had a bike rack right at the front door so I felt safe locking my bike up there. The locker rooms were decently clean. The equipment was good but not enough people would spray and wipe down the equipment after they were done. Kinda gross and annoying that I had to clean things before and after using them. If you're serious about lifting, I recommend going at off hours. A lot of people don't know how to follow common gym etiquette, especially near the bench press. Perhaps put up a sign that says don't hog the bench press while doing barbells.

Harassment free environment, anybody attending can feel comfortable absent a fashion competition or seemingly intimidating stretch, flex, or sweat for all.

People are able to attend and remain on task, at a pace comfortable and challenging to meet or exceed the defined, planned, or variable.

A safe environment for all members where a workout exercise encounter as a self guided member or professionally managed person provides solutions to obstacles and the wisdom and tools to apply life altering health based matters of happenstance are encountered.

I travel a lot for work so having this as a secondary gym is good. You can find Planet fitness in almost every major city. Very clean gym, with new equipment. Some days it stays open 24 hours. The one thing I don't like is that it does not have any boxing equipment.

This gym has turned into a pseudo homeless shelter. I’m not sure if they are paying members or not, but it’s starting to feel really unsafe in there in the mornings. They come in and camp out in the mens Locker room and leave it a mess. They walk back and forth out of the shower flooding the floors and leave dirty paper towels in the shower stalls. They are are always taking up the toilet stalls and yelling in them to themselves. I feel bad for them, but they shouldn’t be using the gym as a shelter, this place needs better security.
