This review is long overdue. I really love the amount and variety of equipment this gym has to offer. My only complaint is they need to open more locations in Maryland and not just the Greenbelt location. It does not matter when I come to this gym, it is always crowded. I usually workout off peak hours for most gyms (between 8am-10am). Half the time I end up leaving early and going to another gym because all the wonderful machines are occupied by not one, but multiple people. Often, it's so crowded its challenging just to move around the gym. This is really a premium gym, but please add more to MD. Capitalize on the spaces left behind by The LA Fitness that closed in North Bethesda and the Golds that closed in the Wintergreen Plaza (Rockville) and that's just in MOCO.

My gym buddy and I bought a day pass and checked out both the Alexandria and Rockville locations. We were extremely impressed with the selection of equipment. The owners are definitely making a statement by purchasing high end equipment that that makes sense. At DMV Iron, you won't seen rows of low end equipment that's not anatomically appropriate and doesn't make sense. Every detail that would enhance the experience was thought of. Everyone I ran into from one of my old gyms say they should of joined a long time ago. If you like getting after it and want to use high end weight training equipment with like minded people in a "conducive" environment, this gyms for you. If fitness classes, having a row of seated ab twist and a juice bar is your thing, this might not be the spot for you. Not joining the gym was not an option and we joined after the day pass was over. Canceled my other gym membership and have been having insane workouts every since. Rockville is my main location it's pretty spacious with plenty of free parking. Becoming a member is insanely easy and there's not rows of member specialist trying to convince you to join. Strongly recommend this gym. They definitely have everything you need to get the job done right!

Love the gym! Lots of equipment available. Just like a lot of gyms in the area it has it’s peak time from 3-8PM and it’s hard to get space to lift weights or find an open treadmill, stair master, but all other times plenty of equipment available. It’s kept clean and there’s a sauna.

Top tier gym with the best equipment. The staff are the most genuine and passionate gym goers, from their leadership to the front desk personnel, all of them are great. They recently implemented a 60 dollar annual fee and charged me for it despite it not being on my contract (signed before it was a thing). Talked to someone at the front desk and was told that the 60 dollar fee always existed. They were giving me attitude and trying to convince me I remembered wrong by showing me the website. After reading the contract I signed, they realized they were wrong and told me to email for a refund, which I did. When I emailed, I was once again being gaslit and told the 60 dollar fee was always there but they waived it for the first year for MD locations. They claim they sent an email out to everyone notifying of the fee, which I did not receive. They said they refunded the money as a COURTESY since the email may have went into my junk mail. First of all, I checked my junk mail and confirmed I never received the email. Second of all, even if they sent out an email, they still are not legally allowed to charge fees not listed in the contract. Saying the refund was a courtesy is crazy work. If they weren’t in the wrong, they would not have refunded me. If you’re reading this and was also charged the 60, please review your contract and get your money back. DMVIRON should be refunding everyone that’s in my situation as it would be fraudulent not to do so. I’m not upset about the 60 dollars- It’s the shady behavior of charging unauthorized fees and gaslighting/bad customer service that really upsets me. If they had just apologized and acknowledged it was a mistake on their end, I would’ve been fine. Will be cancelling my membership after my 1 year is up. I’m not trying to pay money to get gaslit when I can get that for free. The gym is not clean and nice enough for all that

I am staying in the DMV area for a few months and after some googling decided to get a week pass at this location of DMV Iron. Before the week was over I purchased a membership.

I love this gym. It's not even that they have the best equipment for any movement you might want to perform, they have the best 3-5 options for them. The selection of old school equipment is also elite and unmatched at any gym I have ever gone to. The staff is friendly and helpful. I love the lighting and the fact the music isn't too loud. It really feels like a gym built by serious lifters for serious lifters.

I’ve been a member for a while and truly appreciate the state-of-the-art equipment and how frequently it’s updated. The gym is constantly expanding with new locations, which is a major plus. However, a big issue that continues to be overlooked is the women’s locker room.

Despite all the high-end machines and upgrades on the gym floor, the locker room feels neglected—especially considering many of us get ready for work here. There are only a few bathroom stalls, shower stalls, and recently added lockers, but no dedicated changing stalls. The setup includes one small mirror and a sink area with a shared mirror, which creates crowding when multiple women are trying to do hair or makeup.

It would make a huge difference to have more mirrors (outside the sink area), changing stalls for privacy, hair dryers, and a small seating area. These are basic features in many other gyms and would elevate the overall member experience significantly.

The gym has so much potential to be top-tier, but the lack of attention to the women’s locker room continues to be a major downside.

I checked out this gym and it's okay. The staff is awesome, especially the person at the front desk! The equipment is decent overall, but if you're tall (like over 6'1"), forget about it. The leg equipment is just not designed for taller people. It felt like everything was made for someone shorter. Plus, it's really hard to get ahold of customer service on the phone. I ended up not joining, but if they fixed the leg equipment situation – either make it taller-person-friendly or just get more leg machines – I might think about it.

Absolutely perfect gym if you're even a little serious about fitness. The equipment variety is astounding and everything is well maintained. Staff keep the workout areas clean and neat. The clientele is mostly folks who are respectful of everything they use and are polite to one another. Membership is a bit costly for many, but I think it's worth every penny compared to a cheap commercial gym!

Incredible gym, easily the best in Maryland next to Exile in Baltimore (Rosedale) and a top Gym in the U.S. as a whole. Not only does this gym have all top of the line new Atlantis/Prime pieces they have a bunch of extremely rarely pieces which are hard to even buy or even find on the used market - The MedX Avenger Leg Press is often considered the best Quad machine ever made and Flex Leverage Flat/Incline Presses the best chest presses ever design and manufactured. All of the aforementioned which are somehow in Pristine Condition. They also have the Flex-Seated Hamstring Curl which is the best one I've ever used by a country mile. This is saying something considered Atlantis and Prime have had 30 years to make better ones. Continuing on, of course there are a bunch more of the standard hardcore gym pieces you would expect from Cybex, Nautilus, Hammer strength and so on. They've done a really elegant job in combining brand-new and classic older pieces into the space.

Also it seem the gym is of course also extremely clean and well-maintained as expected; in the short workout we were there multiple contractors were there completing maintenance and upgrades only one day after thanksgiving. The man at the front desk was polite and professional and as you'd expect the other members were advanced gymgoers

My Fiance and I had the privilege of working out here together and would join immediately if we lived in the area. It's a real shame more gyms in the U.S. don't aspire to actually cater to the desires of gym rats like DMV Iron (and Exile) do.

I'm a gym rat. I've been to gyms all over the country. I have never been to a more welcoming and inclusive gym space. Who knew that every human could play in the gym sandbox together? This is (sadly) a far cry from my home gym experience.
You get all the good, curated equipment, plus a friendly welcoming space. I really had no idea there was a gym space like it.
I had to move on the fly for work and again, contrary to every gym experience prior-canceling was not an issue. I didn't have to incur an obscene financial penalty for not fulfilling the contract.
Actual human beings seem to run this gym.

Bonus points because they finally added in a second powerlifting combo rack!!! I live down the street and it was stressful driving 40 minutes away to their Alexandria location just to do PL, which defeats the convenience of having this gym within a few miles. The gym doesn’t have a huge selection or space FOR POWERLIFTING, so if you’re okay with waiting a little during peak hours then it’s a super nice gym overall with a lot of equipment. I haven’t had too many issues with waiting for a combo rack since I go early morning. Definitely wish they had a reverse hyper though!

Although I was first a bit intimidated by joining, that changed the moment I met Wesley at the front desk! He's incredibly friendly & welcoming which immediately put me at ease. First of all this gym is amazing. Great equipment and I've never seen a gym so clean and organized. Usually going to the gym during 3rd shift you don't see staff cleaning and picking up all the weights and keep everything nice an organized. I have enjoyed this gym since they opened last September literally was there the first three free days and three days after that. the energy in the gym is awesome from the machines, to the aesthetic to the music, but most importantly the people at the gym. Wesley put me on to dmv iron 3 years ago back at Alexandria. After a single workout there I signed up on the spot. Once we found out about Rockville opening we were very excited because we live nearby. Wesley is always there cleaning on and off the clock. He is truly passionate about this place. Great Gym. Love the rules and how clean it is. I lift between 0300-0530 everyday. Wesley is the gym manager when I’m there. Always greeting you when you check in. Willing to help everyone with workout tips. He loves his job and fitness. Highly recommend this gym - I love how clean and organized it is. It has all the equipment you need for weightlifting. The people who work here are also very friendly! Attended the gym with a day pass a while ago and was pleasantly surprised with the care and attention to detail by the staff that helped me. I was particularly impressed with Troy whom was kind and attentive. Troy not only helped me with specifics during my workout but also helped me look over the different kinds of plans available to sign up for the gym.
Unfortunately I had to move out of state before I could commit to a membership, but when I’m in town I’ll make sure to stop by for a workout and the awesome company.

My fiancé introduced me to Stu at the end of June, so I've been training with him for about 6 weeks now, and it has been life changing. Stu is incredibly knowledgeable and informative. He always let me know what muscle group is being targeted during exercises and why they're done certain ways. I love how his training style revolves around maximizing a workout and making gains effectively by cutting out wasted movements. Thanks to his guidance, I've learned so much within a short amount of time. I truly have a personalized workout plan with modifications tailored to me. After training with Stu, my energy levels have increased significantly, I've noticed visible muscle gain, and my shorts have gotten looser around the waist. I was looking for the most knowledgeable trainer I could find and that was Stu. I’ve always trained by myself doing general workouts and this by far was the best training I’ve ever had. His attention to detail is incredible, little things that I didn’t pay much attention to was corrected over and over until it was to his standards. I lost 20 pound in a little under 3 weeks of training with Stu. You can see from all his students that he knows exactly how to train all different body types.

This place has everything you need to meet your fitness goals, whatever they may be. Except maybe a swimming pool.
I've been going five days a week since December, and, unlike other gyms I've frequented, I've never seen a piece of equipment out of order.
The place is always clean, and the staff are diligent about reracking plates behind the very few inconsiderate members who can't be bothered to do it themselves.
They always have a smile and a cheerful"hello" for you as you walk in the door (shout out to Oscar and the rest of the front desk crew!).

Good gym, with great collection of machines and equipment for bodybuilding. Great selection of dumbbells and cardio equipment. Powerlifting section leaves a lot to be desired, however, with only 3-4 squat racks, one ER bench/rack, and two deadlifting platforms tightly squeezed into a small corner section. This is frequently full by 6 am, which is disappointing when you need to start with a compound lift.

Another issue--Deadlifting platforms and bench don't have their own plates or even nearby plate racks with weights. This means you have to grab plates off the squat racks, which is awkward when they are being used. It would also be nice to film sets to check form, but this is not allowed during busy morning hours.

Overall-if you just need dumbbells, machines, cardio equipment, and a posing room, this is a perfect gym. If you want to do powerlifting, you might want to go elsewhere.
