We hosted my daughter’s birthday party here a few weeks ago and wanted to share the pros and cons. We had 15 guests (the package included 12 kids, so 3 kids were added with additional cost) and added 30 extra minutes for a total of 2 hours ($575, not including food, décor, or cake).
Pros:
- Spacious, open gym with good airflow
- Coaches were engaged and interactive for the first 30 minutes (next 1 hour was open play)
Cons:
- Poor communication: Calls often go unanswered, and even after finally reaching the event coordinator (Erin), my follow-up questions about adding guests and extra time went unanswered for over a week.
- They now double-book parties: We expected the designated party area but were placed in a much smaller space near the entrance, squeezed between cubbies with almost no room to decorate. It was extremely tight for 15 kids and parents. If you book here, confirm you’re getting the larger space.
- Billing issues: They auto-draft the remaining balance without sending an itemized statement. Even after multiple requests, they never provided an itemized receipt and later admitted they had overcharged me. I still have not received an itemized receipt.
- Unprofessional and dismissive staff: One of the food tables kept collapsing, and when I raised concerns, two staff members (Aleyana and Zoe) were dismissive and unprofessional. I had to escalate the issue to the manager.
Overall, the facility itself is nice, but the lack of communication, transparency, and professionalism made the experience disappointing for the price.

I don’t recommend this place - it is very disorganized and poorly run. Staff are incompetent and rude - I would not trust them with my kids. I brought my daughter to a birthday party here. When I arrived a worker greeted me and I waited around for 5-10 mins for the party to start. Nobody told me that I needed to check her in or sign a waiver. I told the parents that I would come back and pick my daughter up, and they were fine with that. Ten minutes later a worker called me and accused me of just dropping my daughter off without signing a waiver (“you cant just drop off your kid and leave”) and told me that she could not participate without a waiver. I asked the worker if she could send me a link to a waiver that I could access online, and she said no, it’s better if you come in. So I drove ten minutes back to the academy only to be given a link to a form that had to be completed online using my own phone - it turns out that the waiver was accessible on my phone and that she could have sent me the link!! Apparently there was no need for me to drive back. Skip this place and go to Emilia’s Gymnastics instead.

In one word: Awesome!
My daughter absolutely loves the classes and is always sad to leave. As soon as we pull in the parking lot she's pumped and ready to go!! She leaves with more confidence and I give this program credit for advancing her exploratory skills when we're at home (she seems to see bars to swing on everywhere now 😅). It's like little lights are turned on in class and she sees things through a new lens after leaving.
The staff always greets us and are so so kind to my daughter and me. The coaches are great and even though my daughter is in one of the younger classes, with exercises that might look like "play", but they are very much strategic exercises / foundational activities adapted to be age appropriate. They have found ways to make very important foundational skills building and development fun. It honestly is kind of fascinating to think of all of the elite (and any level honestly) gymnasts I've long admired started with the little leaps we're doing, you have to start somewhere!
I'll add, one of the most recent activities was tossing rings onto cones from the balance beam. Again, looks like a simple game, but as we did this, and my daughter seemed more interested in extending her body to toss the ring, than being scared about trying to balance, I thought - wow, this is how they do it! I could suddenly see a glimpse of a professional gymnast so comfortable on a balance beam, outstretching her arms and turning effortlessly, etc. and I thought, this is how it starts, these are the types of activities that build muscle memory so difficult things can become second nature. Very cool.
While who knows what the future holds, I left feeling grateful for access to such great coaching and a gorgeous facility disguised as a really fun place to play ;). Keep up the great work!!

Dominique Dawes gymnastics is GREAT! I would highly recommend her program to any parent. The workers are very hands-on and alert. Every week is something different and they're working new muscles and learning new skills. My child started at 4 years old and I can see the growth in what he has learned over the past ~6 months. Great for boys and girls and love the diversity of children that attends, as well as the staff with age, gender, etc. it’s great to see! Lastly, it is very reasonable priced and affordable and definitely worth every penny.

Great first class with my 1 and a half year old. The instructor, Ben, is super inviting and more patient than I could ever be with all the chaos of the toddlers. He managed to gently teach and guide everyone throughout. I’m very impressed with this class and our instructor is for sure a testament to the namesake of the studio! Happy to have signed up and looking forward to many years of building skills and learning for my little one.

We have had a wonderful experience with DDGNA ! The staff is amazing both with our kids emotionally and with their coaching skills. Coach Ben and Coach Makenzie are wonderful. They are always making sure everyone is working hard at every station and that skills are advancing. My two girls love it here and we can’t wait for our son to start when he is walking! The facility is clean & well kept. The equipment is fantastic and well maintained.

This place is great! The manager and coaches are all so attentive and kind. Special shout out to Coach Alex he really connects with my son (5) and it's his favorite part of the week! The facility has great equipment and their courses/activities change week to week. My daughter (3) loves the gymnastics class and they really challenge her to learn new moves. Couldn't recommend this place more!

For her first day I believe everything went great. We had Member Experience Specialist Erin provide us with specific to the program. Our princess really enjoyed her first day is really excited about returning to the program. I see the coaches on the floor exercising patience with all of the kids creating this an amazing experience for all of us. We’re excited that we chose this program. Looking forward to seeing our princess growing and developing fundamental skills which will benefit her long term.

I’m a new member but I love this gym and the Ninja/Tumbling combo class. Coaches are so kind, supportive and energetic. The gym itself is clean, has ample seating, wifi, and plenty of parking. Class sizes are small so not overwhelmingly loud!

I recently attended a resource fair and was given a flier about DDG. The employee also informed of DDD's open gym. We decided to check it out. I registered online for open gym and show up to DDG and the gym was closed. I called customer service several times, no response. I checked the social media page to see if anything was posted regarding open gym cancellation, nothing. I called the following day at least 10 times before someone picked up the phone at this location and was told they cancel open gym if there isn't a certain amount of students enrolled by a certain time. This is fine, however, If open gym was cancelled I don't see how I was able to register online. I think moving forward DDG should have some type of system in place for cancellation notifications. If it's not happening, it shouldn't be on the site. We've done open gyms in the past on several occasions at EACG and just show up without even booking in advance so it was just really confusing showing up to a closed gym when the website says they should have been open until 8pm. I did try calling before registering online but can never get through. Maybe one day we will be able to check out the place and have a better experience. Until then, I'll be waiting on my refund.

My daughter started in the buds class (kindergarten) and moved into the beginner blooms class when she was old enough. She loved both classes. She is excited every week for class and works hard. I can see progress in her skills, especially now that she’s in blooms which is more rigorous. The coaches and management staff have all been great- super nice and responsive. Everyone has a positive attitude. I also really appreciate how the facility is clean and open, and has good spaces for parents to sit and watch.

I cancelled my membership early in the month and my credit card I was just charged for another month. When I try to email, I get an automated response saying somebody will get back to me next week. When I call, the recording tells me to leave a message but then hangs up on me before I can leave a message. Please refund the charge that I did not authorize.
We were also disappointed in the Ninja class. It was just young adults playing with the kids in a small corner of the gym, they don’t teach anything. We could’ve just done that at the playground for free.

My almost 2-year-old attends the Seeds class, and it's like flipping a coin—will she 1) refuse to make eye contact with anyone who isn't her immediate kin, 2) charm everyone with waves and execute every cartwheel with Olympic precision, or 3) collapse into tears at the mere mention of a cheerful "good morning"? The instructors are simply superhero-level patient, turning classes into comedy routines, engaging with pint-sized tornadoes and really working to build trust and excitement.
While all the instructors deserve gold stars, Ms. Taylor stands out as our MVP. Her enthusiasm is so contagious, she could inspire even the grumpiest toddler.
My 6-year-old, on the other hand, tackles the Ninja class like it’s his personal mission. Though I'm busy channeling my inner zombie wrangler with the baby class, my son beams with excitement when the weekend rolls around. I secretly cheer them on for spinning him in circles (literally) every session.
The front desk staff is remarkable who are always friendly who remember my kids' names. This seemingly small gesture sends a powerful message: they genuinely care, making every visit feel personal and welcoming.
Also, a HUGE shoutout to the diversity I see within the staff. While Columbia naturally embraces a mix of cultures (we drive from Severn for a reason), it's pivotal for my children to experience representation or diverse races and genders — a non-negotiable for raising worldly humans. We love it and we will be continuing here for a long time.

My almost 6 year old daughter with a few months of prior gymnastics really likes ninja on TV and has had 3 combination ninja/gymnastics classes at this new location. 3 stars for her enjoying herself. 5 stars would be for a teaching class. It's more kids doing fun things with a support person. Nothing demonstrated or taught. Lots of free play. She will outgrow this place soon.

I recently attended the open house at Dominique Dawes Gymnastics & Ninja Academy in Columbia, MD, and had a fantastic experience! The facility is impressive, with plenty of equipment for young athletes, and the staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. It’s exciting to see such a high-quality gym open in our community, especially one that’s already accepting applications for beginners. The open house was a blast, with a DJ, light refreshments, face painting, and delicious snow cones—perfect for families. I’m excited to see what this academy brings to Columbia, and I highly recommend checking out their website for more details!

I can appreciate the email updates to let prospective parents know what’s happening. So far, the communication (via email) is fantastic. Even got some great service when I called the Rockville location to ask general questions.
Of course, I’ll update once open.
