I have been training here for about a year and I've had a great experience. I have mostly worked with Zach but all the trainers are friendly and helpful. The energy and professionalism Zach brings with every session makes for a serious, but also enjoyable and fun experience. He's great at motivating and pushing you towards your goals and as long as you also put in the effort, you'll see results.

Like many people out there, I have had a desk job for almost 20 years and lead a somewhat sedentary lifestyle. Between the job, the house, and the kids, I felt like I never had time for myself. I put myself last.

The result is that I was slowly getting in worse and worse health. Despite my attempts to workout on my own, I wasn't making much progress. I would say the last straw was when my doctor recommended that I go on weight loss medication. At that point I decided it was time for me to take my health seriously. If I didn't do something, I would just continue on the same path of an unhealthy lifestyle and maybe have a serious medical issue one day. Long story short, I read the reviews and decided to give it a try.

While I was at first considering a big box low cost gym, I knew I would benefit from some one-on-one training. When you think about the cost of working out, you must consider that the cost of not working out will be MUCH higher if you develop a serious medical issue from being out of shape. Investing in your health is investing in your future. And as Gene put it, instead of going out to eat all week just spend that money going to the gym. Boy oh boy was he correct.

I have been going to Gene's Fitness now for a few weeks and I can already notice improvements. I have felt improvements in my attitude, body pains are almost gone, sleep is better, overall better mood, and better performance at my desk job. The other reviews have covered trainer friendliness and cleanliness which are all top notch.

Not to sound selfish, but going to Gene's Fitness is the first thing I have done for myself in a long long time. Finally I put myself before all of the obligations from work, the house, and the kids. Working out has done wonders for my mental and physical health.

If you are serious about getting your health back on track, I urge you to give Gene's Fitness some consideration. After all, the only thing you have to lose is a few pounds and you have a lot to gain.

One other thing, there are no long term commitments. You simply pay as you go. So if you don't like it after a few sessions you can quit, but I think you will find it very beneficial.

I’ve been going to Gene’s Fitness Center since December and recently started coming twice a week—and I genuinely look forward to every session. My trainer, Zach, is fantastic. He’s motivating, encouraging, and always brings great energy to our workouts. He knows how to push me without overwhelming me, and he makes the sessions fun while still challenging. He’s also very knowledgeable and will take the time to explain things to you. Since I started, I’ve gotten noticeably stronger and feel more confident. I’ve been working out at Gene’s Fitness Center with Zach for about four months and it is the best decision I’ve made in years. Zach is wonderful and the workouts are very challenging but fun. Hands down the best gym experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve worked with a few trainers over the years. Nothing compares to the expert training, motivation, and all-around good vibes here.

As a woman, walking into a new gym or starting with a new trainer can sometimes feel intimidating, but this place has been the complete opposite. From day one, I felt welcomed and comfortable, but also pushed to work harder than I thought I could.

Gene is incredibly knowledgeable and invested in helping you move and feel better, not just stronger, but more mobile, balanced, and aligned. Even with some lingering ankle injuries I've had, he’s thoughtfully worked in movements that echo my physical therapy, which has been super helpful. Zach’s awesome too — both of them bring great energy, and they know how to push you in a way that’s empowering and builds confidence.

The music’s always on point, the space has a down-to-earth vibe, and the energy is great. The gym itself is always clean, and everything is in top condition. There’s always something new about how the exercises are paired, keeping things challenging while still helping me see progress in what we’re working on. Every session leaves me feeling stronger, and like I’m getting closer to my goals.

I can't recommend this gym enough, especially if you're looking for a personalized fitness experience. I've been working with Gene since late last year, and he's been incredible. Not only is he highly knowledgeable, but he's also friendly, motivating, and genuinely cares about your progress. I even had a couple of minor injuries outside of the gym, and Gene went above and beyond to help me work through them. He gave me at-home exercises and stretches to do, which expedited my recovery. He goes the extra mile to make sure you’re not just training, but training safely and effectively.

The gym itself is great. It’s clean and spacious and never feels crowded. Gene is flexible with scheduling so you can keep up with your progress. One thing I really love is that he incorporates both mobility work and strength training into our sessions, and he always mixes up the routines so you never feel like you’re doing the exact same workout twice.

My girlfriend and I go together, and even though we're at different fitness levels, Gene tailors our sessions so they work for both of us. We sometimes work out with Zach, too, who is also fantastic and just as committed to our progress. We always look forward to our sessions, and no matter how we feel going in, or how challenging the workout is, we leave feeling better, stronger, and more motivated.

I train with Gene in BJJ and looked at joining his fitness center to help me strengthen my hips and shoulders. I have had back issues for a long time and recently realized my hips were the cause. Gene set me up with Zach and after a few sessions, I was already showing progress. Zach and Gene are phenomenal trainers! I was gifted a session during my visit to Maryland -- I wish Zach could be my regular trainer. I usually work out solo, but staying motivated and nailing the right form has always been a challenge for me. Zach sorted me out and gave me probably one of the best workouts l've ever had. Over 10 years now. Gene and James have kept us both at our peaks into our 60s. During the lockdowns we started Zooming sessions which works because we have equipment (which we likely would not be using if not for these guys) The gym is well appointed and much more complete, and has everything you need and nothing you don't. How good is Gene's fitness? I have been going for over 10 years, so REALLY good! Years ago my back pain was so bad I couldn't walk the mall without stopping to sit down. I was popping OTC pain meds like Pez. Thanks to Gene and figuring out my core muscles were weak, I have been pain free, done mud races, heavy dead lifts and ride horses every week.

The whole crew (Gene, James and Zach) have their own styles and are excellent to work with toward your goals. Workouts are kept interesting and motivating. They will develop a plan with you to reach your goals and hold you accountable. Gym is clean too, and I am a germaphobe so I appreciate them cleanliness.

My wife and I needed help and we could not get fit on our own. We had no direction. we’d had gym-memberships that we didn’t show up for. We had injuries we were worried about. On top of this we had issues with motivation.

Gene is the answer. He provides work outs for people like us that just want to get fit and not get necessarily get ripped (although he can do that for you). He keeps track of your progress and is able to modify things if you are injured. He keeps the workouts fresh and dynamic. Literally all you have to do is show up.

We, have been showing up for over a year now and we’re in better shape than in our 20s. For me personally, I have never known my core to feel this strong and I’ve never been this aware of my musculature.

If you are reading this review, I implore you to come work out with Gene. Invest in yourself and your own health. Sooner rather than later is always better with these things. Luckily, in this case, all you have to do is show up.

I've trained at GFC for 15 years and now I can't imagine life without it. I had been through countless trainers through those corporate gyms and always found myself dissatisfied with tardiness, laziness, and lack of results.

GFC is so much better than that! A personalized program will be catered to your needs. You'll have your trainer's undivided attention for the full hour every session. You'll see results very quickly. And if you're ever hitting a plateau they will adapt your program to punch through it.

My goals are centered around weightlifting and we got my bench from 125lbs to 250+. Deadlift from 150 to 420+.

And their expertise extends beyond weightlifting programs. Whether you want to work on mobility, physical therapy, or overall fitness, you will be glad you tried out GFC.

If you're looking to up your fitness game, this is a great place to start. I've worked several times with the man himself and it has been more than productive. Gene is a great trainer, is certified and is a super friendly guy.

I went to him particularly to up my kettlebell game but have gone back for speciality sessions on improving my squat and some other lifts I just wasn't doing is well (or as much) as I wanted.

Highly recommended. Go for the kettlebell, stay for the excellence.

Was in town and a buddy of mine insisted we go for a group workout.

I was admittedly a bit resistant at first (honestly, more just lazy), but I'm glad I listened.

Gene was super friendly and very accommodating. He calibrated our weights and exercises based on what we could (or could not) do, and he gave none of the "oh man you are a warrior this is war " garbage that you see at too many gyms.

I definitely recommend checking out his gym if you want to get your healthy on.

When I first started I had begun a middle age slump, and just wanted some help getting back into a routine of fitness. Gene met with me, discussed my goals, and quickly had me on a program that got me back into my “old self”. But I found Gene’s knowledge, patience, and follow through to be so helpful that I have subscribed to his fitness training ever since. Then in 2008, I suffered a major stroke, and I began the never ending climb to stroke recovery. As a retired physician, I know the importance of daily exercise. I have been a member at multiple big box gyms in the area and have worked with many trainers in my life. About 5 years ago, I was working at another facility and realized I was missing that “SPARK” and that I needed change. I met Gene many years ago and decided that I would checkout his gym- GENE’S FITNESS CENTER IN Rockville, Maryland. I visited it and I immediately knew I found my new “home”! Gene knows my strengths and weaknesses better than I do. With his workouts, I have continued to build muscle and lose fat. This past March, life changed for everyone with CoVid 19. Gene was forced to temporarily close his gym and I decided to buy equipment per Gene’s recommendation so that we could do our workouts virtually. For 4 months, we worked out virtually 3 days a week and the workouts have been the highlight of my day during these tumultuous times. Not only did I lose 15+
pounds but also I gained more muscle and strength. Recently Gene re-opened his gym and has made a conscious effort to not only adhere to CDC guidelines, but has gone above and beyond the recommendations to include frequent cleaning, temperature checks, and adherence to the use of masks, as well as limiting capacity. I added on extra training at the gym with one of Gene’s coaches, Jeremy, in conjunction to working with Gene. In our first encounter, Jeremy performed an extensive evaluation of my body which included flexibility, strength and mobility. He asked about my goals and aspirations and from there he proceeded with amazing workouts. I feel very comfortable going to GENE’S FITNESS CENTER for my workouts and his coaching is superb. I have been a client of Gene's Fitness Center for the last 4 years and I would highly recommend them. I've worked out with 3 of the trainers and they are all good. I also like that this isn't a "normal" gym, so there are always a limited number of people in the gym at any time. There is flexibility with individual, 2:1, and group sessions as well. This team is worth taking a chance on, you will not be disappointed.

I've been coming to Gene's Fitness Center for over 2 years and the results have been nothing short of dramatic. Gene is a very personable and knowledgeable trainer. He will not only get you in the best shape of your life, but do so in a very intelligent and structured way. Certainly everyone's general goal is to lose fat and gain muscle, but it's important to do so in a way that prevents injuries and improves your body's mobility and overall health. Staff are all awesome. Very willing to listen to your goals and tailor a program to meet those as well as to challenge you along the way. If working with a trainer is something you’re looking for I’d highly recommend Gene and/or any one of his other trainers. I have experience with Gene and James and both are top notch. Great guys with a wealth of knowledge.
