I had been away for quite a few months and came back into the PF in Severna Park today and I had a difficult time with something in reference to scanning my phone to enter. Nia at the front desk smiled continuously while trying to help me. They went out of their way to remedy the situation and I was just so impressed with the people at the front desk. Thank you guys! You are awesome... I love that gym btw.. need to get myself in there more often.

Won’t recommend to came at this location there water cooler is damaged since a week they are not getting fixed and charging for each water bottle I’m a black card member and they charged me $1.86 for small bottle of water each bottle I tooled . it’s ridiculous staff attitude is horrible and won’t clean up bathrooms, bathrooms are nasty please take action at it THANK YOU!

I've been coming to this location for about 2 months now, I go between 4-4:30pm 4 days during the week and 7am on the weekends and there is still plenty of equipment even though it is a smaller Planet Fitness. The staff is extremely friendly with a "welcome" and "have a good day" at entrance and exit. I have enjoyed my experience thus far and look forward to going more.

Awful workers. I was trying to get a membership but she was so rude. I will not be getting a membership here. She was chewing and popping her gum in my face. Sense she said I couldnt get a membership I then asked for a day pass, she said I had to be over 18 and I couldn’t workout, but I am over 18 & I had an ID with me to prove that. This place used to be really nice!

I have been going to this PF for about 3 years straight now. I don't know if the ownership changed hands or if they just have not done a great job of maintaining things. Machines are starting to get pretty abused (pads ripped/torn on the preacher curl/benches/seats, cables ripped on machines, screws and bolts missing, micro adjustments broken and taped up).

Staff is super nice. Mostly young fit kids that are good at keeping the place clean and tidy. Respectful and responsive on that front.

Machine layout could be optimized a bunch:
-could easily use 1-2 more smith machines. at peak hours, they are all locked up.
-shrink 30-min section. this area gets the least amount of use for its specific purpose. maybe 5-10% older folks or newbies, but it mostly gets used by everyone. at a minimum, get rid of the step-up things in the middle…literally nobody uses them and they are just a tripping hazard. would make more sense to not even offer it and split it 50/50 into more ab/stretching space and more smith machines/free weights/cable machines.
-lose 15% of the cardio equipment. mostly those ridiculous arm peddling machines and broken treadmills. add another stair-stepper or two.
-add saunas. does any PF do saunas? the current mens bath layout is huge and underutilized space. i am sure the womens is the same.

I will keep coming here because it is close to home, but I really hope it gets a refresh soon.

Last thing, weekend hours…can we get those a bit deeper into the night? Would be huge.

My positives would be it's not expensive and it's not very crowded. However, it's very disappointing that there are no trainers at this location. There's a list of classes you can sign up for, but when you go to the appointment, there are no trainers. At first, I thought it was a misstep, and no trainers scheduled for the day. With the second time, I found out there are no trainers at all, but you can still sign up for classes online. It's a buggy system that needs to be fixed. AND they should really get someone in there that can show new people the equipment.

I don’t like the upper grips of the treadmills. The button are on the front where you are to grip the handles. I’m not trying to ride the treadmill like a rocket ship blasting off. The rest of the gym is great. I wish there was two ergo meters. Why does the center tv which does not have the ability to listen into the music channel. No I can’t lip sing read. The is not the best setup or the worst. Just small plain gym.

Took 6 month leave of absence due to having to deal with traffic to get to establishment. Received no email saying $49 was coming out of my account. Called them and they said I had to come in or write a letter to cancel. I did that day asking for the $49 to be refunded. Emily Burrough, the manager, called me when she received my letter saying it's their policy and she can't do the refund. The $49 is for my year membership that I won't be using. She said I should of remembered when I started PF. Wasn't there a law that was just passed to make it easy to cancel a membership? Having to drive 10 miles in traffic or write a letter is not easy. I should be refunded my money. This is not right considering I will not be using the establishment. Don't agree to automatic payments.

Edit: 4/9/24 The response from the manager. This is not the manager. It is "Someone" who monitors Social Media. No resolution was made because social@planetfitnes.. says its up to the Franchise. Emily Burrough has not contacted me again to give me a $49 refund.

My ex was easier to leave than planet fitness. I swear every time I sign up with them I’m in a blood contract. I’ve been homeless my entire life. A drifter, a couch hopper and sometimes I can’t always afford to have a membership. I just moved here, to Maryland from Vegas. And I can’t even cancel my membership because this is not my home gym. I don’t even have a regular home. I like planet fitness because the membership is cheap. But I don’t like it because every time I have to move or I run out of money to pay. ITS NEVER EASY TO CANCEL.

This place is clean and large, and overall nice but has two problems: 1) There are a lot of high schoolers here, as others have said, and they will congregate/loiter around the equipment a lot while working out and socializing… preventing you from using some things for a while. 2) PF keeps changing their hours. They’ve changed twice in the last 2 months. First they’re 24-hours for 2 days a week, then 24-hours for 5 days a week, now they’re not 24-hours at all. I personally need a gym that’s open super late so suddenly I can’t go here anymore. It’s unfortunate.

The atmosphere at the Severna Park location is upbeat. I feel free to explore my fitness goals without the fear of being criticized or judged for my abilities. Very poor customer service. I tried downgrading from the black card to a regular membership and they tried charging me $60 to do that. When I asked why, they said its because It's like I'm canceling and signing up again and have to pay the sign up fee. They don't mention this when you upgrade to the black card nor does it say this in the agreement I signed. This is a pretty clear tactic to prevent people from going back to the standard plan. The employees told me this is a policy at this specific location and not all locations are like that. I guess the management at this location is scummy.

I live directly behind the Pasadena location but I will only go to the severna park location. It’s my favorite spot. It’s so clean, everyone is very personable and use your first name. The tanning beds are always clean and I never burn. I never get questioned if I come in just to tan or use the massage after a long over night shift instead of working out (like I did at Pasadena). The lotions are always stocked, the gym is never over crowded. The front desk staff are so knowledgeable and kind. Last week I was waiting for a tanning bed with my friend and we used the hydro Massage, after 10 minutes neither bed was ready so we were allowed to use the massage again. I’ve never been offered this but man, did my body love it. I love the convenience of the app/ checking in.

This is a nice location, but the workers are loud and it’s ridiculous. Hear them on each station I go on. Had to stop my workout today cause they legit were walking around being loud as heck fixing the machines. They started chanting “Johnathan” and I was just over it. This planet fitness is a downgrade from the one in Pasadena. I switched my membership to this one because it is slightly closer to my house and someone else wanted me to go there with them. I got there and immediately noticed it was smaller than the one in Pasadena, and then I realized the equipment was SLOWER too!!! The fastest mile I could run on the treadmill was 5:18 (or 5:19… I forget)… and the stair climber was slow too… so, if you want to have a casual time, or are just trying to get in shape, this could be good/great for you. But for me, this has been terrible and now I have to go through the hassle of switching back to Pasadena… OH AND I FORGOT TO MENTION, this place isn’t even open 24hrs…Very unfortunate for me, … UPDATE, went in to switch my membership back and they wrote my information down, my app still says I am a member here, they did not switch me.

Wish I could rate 0 stars. Worst gym membership experience of my life. When I started a membership here I specifically asked the employee if it would be difficult to cancel, if there were fees, as I am leaving the area in a few months. They assured me it would not be and there are no fees. Fast forward to now, a few months from then, I'm moving. I call this location planet fitness multiple times before I reach anyone. Finally an employee picks up, I ask to please end my membership. This employee tells me they will put a "freeze" on my membership until November if I decide to re activate it. I ask multiple times if I will still be charged monthly for this, he assures me I will not. A few weeks go by, I am charged. Frustrated but no big deal, I call them and kindly say I froze my membership please refund me. Employee has no idea what I'm talking about, tells me he can't do anything about it even though he is who froze my account (???) I ask for a manager, he says they don't have one (which later I find is not true) he asks "what day of month did you cancel your membership?" I say, not sure, maybe the 11th? He goes "what a coincidence its company policy we can't cancel memberships on the 11th." It's all very weird and seemed dishonest to me. Finally he tells me "not sure" when manager will be in but feel free to call back. I call back every day until I reach manager. He tells me my account could not have been frozen because I'm not military and he will refund me and cancel my account. Anyway, today I got charged AGAIN. I'm really done with this staff, this location, and frankly planet fitness. Frustrating and has taken up so much of my time to correct their negligence. Wonder if I'll be able to get ahold of a manager this week so they will finally stop charging me. Oh, and the kicker? Just read online you have to go in person to cancel. No one told me this. I feel like they are just stealing my money at this point. Terrible service.

It's a good "starter" gym. If you want to use machines and treadmills, this is a good place for you. No free weights other than dumbbells and they only go up to 60lbs.

The place is clean. $10 a month makes it a better deal than LA fitness.

The "lunk" alarm is more hype than anything else. I have never been in a gym that people "judged" you. Again, more hype.

Not a good fit if you prefer free weight workouts.

Pros: Really nice, new gym with some of the latest equipment available. Moderately busy throughout the day.

Cons: There are 3 racks that everyone uses to bench press, but it's a routine occurrence that none of them have an actual bench. It's frustrating to have to track down and drag heavy benches around the gym so that I can workout. This problem doesn't exist at the Pasadena, MD location.

It would be nice if they bought a few more benches or require that 1 or 2 stay at the stations.
