I have been to several planet fitness locations and not all staff members were inviting, but I have been visiting this location the past few days and I've felt very welcomed. I received greetings and kindness from the staff, specially Alex, when I come in for my morning workout. This is a noticeable difference compared to other locations; being welcomed truly makes a difference in my mood for when I start my workout!

I have a planet fitness membership because I travel every week for work, but I live in Southern Maryland. When I am home Waldorf, La Plata, and Prince Frederick are all equal distance from my home. Waldorf is great, the staff in the morning is friendly and I am able to use everything I need without it being overcrowded. I will say the down side is there is always one stall and one sink out of order in the Women’s locker room and there are times when they are out of paper towels, but other than that no complaints.

Multiple leaks on the roof at this location. You find buckets placed at the leaking areas, and of course some are missed, which end up getting the floor wet.
In one of my visits, I saw the entire “functional training” area shutdown due large pool of water.

Serious Concerns About Front Desk Staff Conduct & Cleanliness

I am a regular member at this location, and I’ve observed consistent issues with a male staff member in the evenings who is often stationed at the front desk. The lunk alarm is activated excessively — several times per day — in situations that do not seem to warrant it, which creates an unwelcoming and disruptive environment for members.

Additionally, cleaning duties appear incomplete during his shifts. Equipment that is wiped down remains visibly dirty, and the men’s restroom is checked far less frequently than expected, which raises sanitation concerns. On top of this, guests are frequently not greeted upon arrival, which goes against the customer service standards advertised by Planet Fitness.

These are recurring issues I’ve personally witnessed on multiple visits, and I believe management should review this employee’s performance promptly to ensure policies, cleanliness standards, and member satisfaction are upheld.

Unfortunately, I go in the afternoon. The place is very crowded, and the person working at the reception is very rude and does not know how to deal with the club members. Everything looks nice in clean until u step in the locker rooms. Let me clarify that this is anytime throughout the day, even during the ghost town hours. Toilet tissue on the floor, gum in the urinal for days, used old soap bars in the shower, dirty stained mirrors and
dead bugs on the wall. Informed management on more than one occasion but I implore you not to waste your time. They simply say how shocked they are and how its unacceptable all while the deplorable conditions remain the same as the staff corrals at the desk

The equipment are in good condition and it's a very convenient gym, but there is a horrible smell that is constantly there. At first I thought it was the patrons, but its not. The smell must be in the walls by the weights. It is a smell that has almost made me sick. I will not be working out here without a scented mask or something I can smell in between sets. I have been warned about the smell before and didn't believe it would be this bad, but it doesn't seem like something that they plan on fixing.

They do keep the gym pretty clean, I just don't believe they are able to do anything about the smell by the weights. You can generally get through a workout fine if you don't go near the free weights though.

There are also always a few patrons that have very strong body odors or they just smoked prior to walking into the gym. I understand you can't do anything about this, but it is something encountered noticeably more at this particular location. I wouldn't say this is a huge problem, but something to consider.

I would like to say I like this gym but it SMELLS HORRIBLE!!! It smells like sewage and takes over the entire left side of the gym. Sometimes when I enter I smell it immediately! I have been coming for around a month and it has smelled terrible the entire time. I have been coming to this gym on and off for the past 10 years. This time around of me having my membership with this location since March of this year has indeed been the worst.
1. The younger staff is rude and has no professionalism whatsoever. They are disrespectful to people at the desk as well as on the phone.
2. The renovation process was horrible and honestly didn’t improve the gym. I feel it’s lacking more now than prior. The space feels tight and cramped, you removed a lot of the machines that people actually used and didn’t even place them with newer machines or equipment.( ex. Assisted pull up machine)
No emails was sent out to members stating that over the renovation period, we could go to the laplata location. Now the upsetting thing is that not only were we not notified, we were still charged for the entire month when our home location was closed for 3 of the 4 weeks during the Reno, the laplata gym hours are not the same as the Waldorf location, the Reno was still going on when they reopened, and yet again equipment was not in positions to be used or were removed entirely.
3. The billing and payment is trash! 🚮 I know payments come out automatically but I’m mostly upset that I referred someone to this gym and you get one month free. They used my one month free the month they were closed for 3 weeks out of the month! When I contacted the manger about this, they did nothing to fix the issue. I would like to have my one month referral award during a month you’re actually opened!!! This was literally it for me

I would cancel my membership if this wasn’t the only gym in Waldorf that is opened before 5 am on weekdays. That is literally the only reason I stay. But honestly I’ll probably cancel in the new year because this gym just keeps playing folks more and more as time goes on

Let me just say working out at planet fitness itself is awesome! However, the reason I gave it 3 stars is because of how they handle their billing and payment. I don't know why they make it so hard to pay a bill. First of all I had money in my account for the month of July and they didn't take it out on the 17th which is the due date so then they charged me a late fee because it wasn't taken out. How can you charge me a late fee if you don't take it out in a timely fashion or on the day that you say it's supposed to be taken out?? So then when I go and try to pay a bill, I'm unable to pay it on the app and I'm unable to pay it At planet fitness. So then I have to wait? What kind of nonsense is this??? Do you want to get paid or not?? Or are you just setting me up so you can get paid more but by charging me a late fee?

Well, the facility was just updated with a new layout and equipment. It is clean and spacious. The staff is friendly. The hours are great and the membership price is right!! When I first joined last fall, I suggested more Smith machines and benches for chest press etc and those suggestions were implemented here recently, much to my appreciation!!

My own experience with this particular Planet Fitness location is unsatisfactory. As a result I cancelled my membership. There is a poor level of cleanliness. For two days straight I entered the men’s restroom after my workout to find chewed gum inside the urinal. This means the restrooms are rarely cleaned among other areas. Not only is this disgusting but unsanitary. I agree the members who threw the gum in the urinal are to blame for being so nasty, but it’s the facility's staff responsibility to keep the facility clean and sanitized.

Also, re-enforce the rules so members clean the equipment after using it.

I was a loyal attendee at this gym but after a rude experience with two people at the front desk they will never see me again. The little girl working at the front desk was being extremely unhelpful to my mom after she asked for assistance in signing up for the teen summer promotion. The girl was rude and snappy so we asked for assistance from someone else who happened to be a male employee. When my mom was calmly explaining what was going on, his response was “let’s dial it back and try again tomorrow”. Extremely disrespectful and unhelpful. The machines are also old and dirty here so it wasn’t hard to say goodbye and find a better location!

I really enjoy this gym. It’s seems to be pretty clean. I go at 4 A.M in the morning and everyone who is there is respectful about cleaning machines after use. The staff usually isn’t at the desk when I arrive but by time I get done around 5:30 there is always someone there. Which is understandable. The only downfall I can see is that the paper towels aren’t always refilled so I have to walk to the other side of the gym sometimes to get them to clean my machines. Other than that I really like this gym and highly recommend it to early bird gym goer’s who don’t like crowds

Updated: This place is trash! It’s privately owned and they will just be doing whatever they want. Hidden fees, horrible staff and even worse management who doesn’t care about their users. Although I go at 3 am, and it’s usually dead/clean….the staff has ruined this gym for me and I would never recommend to anyone! Also, they keep changing their hours! Planet fitness is known for their 24 hrs x7 days a week! Why are you opening at 4:30 on a Monday and closing at 10 p.m to not re open until 3 am the next day? I joined planet fitness in Laplata because the hours worked well with my work schedule (24hours). However, due to new management I am forced to workout at the Waldorf location. The Waldorf location locker rooms are very disgusting. Locker room floors are covered with dirt and hair. Shower area looks as if it has never been sanitized. Every time I go staff is standing around doing nothing at the front desk. I enjoy planet fitness but Waldorf by far is my favorite. Hopefully this review will get someone’s attention and something is done about the locker room. Most people work out before work and would appreciate a clean environment

Unfortunately I have to edit my original review from a 4 star down to a 2 star simply because of 2 of the new staffing. I've been a member for years and a frequent user of this gym, tonight when I come in the girl follows me to the machine to tell me I need to take a photo so I ask, Can I just take it tomorrow her statement was flat out No so I ask why not she states because we need to take a photo of everyone. I was just there yesterday there were no signs up or messages from the gym stating they needed new pictures or anything. I just don't understand the issue of why she couldn't wait a day or give further explanation of why it had to be tonight that I take it, other than just because we need it. I'm sure I took a photo when I first joined years ago so what did they do delete it. Anyway, I left, thankfully I have other gym memberships in the area. Again some of your staff needs to do better at being professional and explaining what the circumstances. I mentioned 2 staff so its more to this story but for now I'll leave it here.

Why is it so hot in this gym? This is the only PF that I’ve been in where they keep it hot and cozy like a log cabin on a really cold winter day. You feel a burst of heat when you walk in the door. The heat marinating with sweat isn’t a good atmosphere. It’s not comfortable working out under these conditions. I believe the staff members at the front desk are cold because they’re close to the door. Put on a jacket. The members shouldn’t have to suffer because they’re cold. It’s unsanitary to have a gym that hot. I would love to return to this gym if they’d turn the heat down or off to regular gym temperature. It’s gross.

If you have any kind of lung issues STAY AWAY from any Planet Fitness! They spray areole air fresheners all over their gyms. I was going there for months trying to build my lung capacity (COPD) and had to keep using my emergency inhaler. Couldn't figure out why until today when the girl sprayed behind and in front of my treadmill. Lost my business then and there! Should be against health code regulations as well.

Good at first, price vs gym amenities. Slowly getting worse every week. Constant broken machines, some lazy staff, poor cleanliness, loud music catering to rap and hip hop only, bad odors in locker room, dirty lockers, people sitting on machines phone surfing, few customers following the rules. I would love to commend the Planet Fitness staff to their dedication and proficiency in taking care of this facility on a daily basis. There has also been a recent change in the television stations that are displayed which went from having something that would appeal to everyone to sports, news and Bet. Im downgrading my review of this location. Today is Sunday April 23 and for the fourth time in two weeks the temperature inside the gym is too hot! I've repeatedly spoken with the staff about this...also today it smelled liked sewer...they know this because the front doors were open.

The temp.should be in the 60's...not the 70's.

love love love this Planet Fitness. Khalid and Jamia are standouts among a great staff, and with their help, my entire workout routine has been transformed into something I can't wait to do. Each day! And the clients that take the classes with me....they are so cool and inspiring!
