Avoid: arrogant, cultish, and unwelcoming. Smells like human urea and a dog kennel. You’ll trip over 2-3 unsupervised dogs with no idea whom they belong to — and these are pets of other clients, not service animals or brought by instructors. Not a leash in sight, and you can count on being licked without consent.

“Leave class feeling sweaty and covered with dog fur and allergens!”

After attending maybe two dozen classes each with 2-3 unknown dogs, I requested the moderate accommodation that these pets be leashed when the studio was in use. This request was initially granted and then immediately rescinded because I have a disability that wasn’t a “good fit for Baptiste”.

It was impossible to understand their policy on disability protections, service animals, or hygiene requirements for public spaces. When asked about it, management told me to leave and not come back. I’ve filed reports with the relevant discrimination offices, but the owners of this studio frankly couldn’t care less about their clients’ well being.

The two creepy male instructors touch way too much without consent or request. I have had to verbally request and then physically remove an instructors hand from my body. Instructors have also spoken passionately about how this practice has alleviated substance abuse problems and anger management. These personality flaws are not so well hidden. I’ve been physically threatened by the owner of the studio and I don’t really enjoy hearing curse words during my practice.

The other instructors are better for the most part: middle-aged and sticking to a well established program.

The clientele is unintimidating, normal looking Boston-suburb mid professionals 30s-50s old. There’s a lot of noisy chatter and Bob Marley to set the tone before class starts…. If that’s your thing.

One amusing part of these classes: yoga instructors without any medical training hold forth at length about pseudoscience like “sweating out toxins” snd “healing bones”. I’ve noticed other doctors try to stifle their giggles.

Facilities are minimal and poorly maintained. Enter through a garbage lot, not on Harvard street. Rat droppings can be found on the steam pipes and in basement “changing rooms”. The towel under the water dispenser is stolen from Barry’s Bootcamp. It’s messy.

One star because at a basic level this front operates as a largely successful yoga studio in that classes start (but do not end) on time, there is heating, four walls and a ceiling.

I recently moved from Boston to Milwaukee for my job but had been going to Baptiste Power Yoga for 10+ years. Since moving, I have not been able to find a studio that comes close to Baptiste. I miss it greatly!

I was in town a couple weeks ago and stopped by for a class with Ashley. I felt so relaxed, yet energized at the same time. Great environment and vibe. Ashley is the sweetest and I can’t wait until I’m in the area again for another class!

I’ve been practicing vinyasa yoga for 5 years and I’ve always wanted to go here. I’m from out of town, and I just happened to be in Boston for a few days on a business trip. I’m so glad I was able to get away to take Brandon’s class today. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and completely rinsed. Great studio, great energy. I hope to return some day.

This studio is not just a place to practice yoga. It is a home of people who will soon become your family. It is an uplifting community of peace, healing, and love that instantly turns your day around no matter what is going on in your life. In my decade of practicing yoga I have not found teachers anywhere else who put so much love into their classes. I began practicing at Baptiste when I was going through a very difficult time in my life— and very quickly, Naima and Brandon both changed— and saved— my life.

I’ve gone here at least a dozen times, so it’s time to give a complete review. First off, the entrance is not on Harvard Street, but from the rear through a kinda grungy parking lot. Everyone who works there is super friendly, and they do a very good job keeping the place clean. The number one drawback to Baptiste is that they only have one series. It’s not a bad series, in that you will work all of your major muscle groups, get your cardio up a bit, do some core, and also get some spiritual chatter. To that last point, Mark and Brandon do a really great job of keeping the class entertaining with their commentary and observations on life. The other instructors are more by the book. As for the series itself, it works well for beginners, and while they cue a few options for more advanced positions and arm balances, in my opinion, they could do more of that. But really, they need to offer some new classes, perhaps some with music. If they don’t, I think their business will stagnate because students will graduate to more varied and interesting opportunities. That being said, there aren’t very many alternatives, if any, within walking distance of Baptiste, so I might be talking out of my you-know-what. Maybe they could let other instructors come in and use the studio when they don’t have classes? Near the end of the series, there are roughly five minutes awarded to pigeon. This I don’t get unless there is some hidden physiological research that only they know about which makes endlessly holding those positions the secret to everlasting life. A few sidenotes: the room is usually brutally hot. Try to stay away from the window side in the evenings in the summer when the sun comes pouring in. There are no mirrors on the walls and there are no showers or locker rooms. They have some small changing cubicles downstairs; however, the stairwell is steep and slippery, so you are taking your life into your own hands there. Maybe for Chanukah, I’ll surprise them with some non-slip tape to put down? So bottom line: if you’ve never done yoga, Baptiste would be a great place to start. If you’re more experienced, try them out but you will likely need more variety.

The BEST - I repeat - the BEST power / spiritual yoga experience you will ever have. Right here. There’s magic within these walls. What’s the secret? Because there’s magic within each of us. And these teachers use the practice to draw that magic out of each student, each day, in each class, until the space is filled with magic and energy and power and love and spirit and connection.

Brandon, Naima and the whole team are the best in the business. The discipline and study they have for the practice in unparalleled. They are so committed to showing up to their fullest every single class, which in-turn causes a shift for each student. I’ve visited over 50 different yoga studios who teach this exact style of yoga, and no one teaches like they do here. Best of the best, bar none.

Go. You’ll laugh every single time. You’ll feel welcomed, valued, a part of something big and exciting. You’ll grow, develop, learn, cry, and I promise you, you’ll leave feeling like your best self.

We love this studio. The vibe is always down to earth and friendly. It's super clean, it's hot, you sweat a LOT and you feel amazing afterwards. Great instructors who are also just really good people, really welcoming, been practicing a long long time and know what they are doing. Hard as you want it to be, but it's also accessible at any level. Just get yourself in the door one time. You'll want to keep going back because you'll feel amazing. Lots of parking, easy to get to.

The first time I had a yoga class ever, was 5 years ago; and for whatever reason (maybe because I already belong to a gym) I did not continue. Over a year ago I had foot surgery and my foot was not getting any better (pain, swelling, limping). My surgeon recommended yoga. Thx God I listened! I joined Baptist yoga about a month & 1/2 ago, I try to be there more than twice a week, anyhow; my foot is now 95% better!! I’m not sure if it’s the heat, the stretching, the poses or a combination of it. At the beginning, during two 90 min classes, I had to take a break and leave the room because I couldn’t stand the heat (no one else got out); I haven’t any more... I try to take 60 or 75 min classes instead. Yoga is very new to me, I did not know any poses’ names; my body is flexible but very poor in balancing. I listen and keep an eye on whatever everyone else does; I’m learning as I go! My point is, the instructors, staff and members had made me feel very welcome. Everyone has been very supportive and they motivate me no matter how bad or good I’ve performed. The bottom line is not to quit even if it’s at your own pace! I’m very happy I got brave and finally decided to give Baptist yoga a try!!! BTW, the same goes for my husband (who’s got hip problems); he joined Baptist with me and he loves it!!

This place has become my second home. From the first day I felt welcomed and part of the community. The classes are challenging and I have seen my body get stronger and felt more grounded and mindful. I don't even live nearby but I make my way to practice here between 3-5 days a week.

This is a really nice studio and overall I’ve had multiple great yoga classes here. My rating reflects the fact that my yoga practice doesn’t seem to fit with what Boston Baptiste prioritizes, which is totally fine.

I found that Boston Baptiste did not support individuality or alternative poses to the ones they prescribed while practicing. It felt to me like a “do as I say and only as I say” teaching method, which I felt handicapped my practice.

The studio is definitely worth a try but may not work for everyone.

I’ve been encouraged to give it a try and so glad I finally did! Love everything about coming here! The instructors are extremely encouraging and each have their own way of guidance. Other yogis have been so welcoming...today at the end of my first 75 minute practice (sweating profusely) the person next to me looked over and was so kind and said “ you did great!” - so my words to you if you’re thinking about giving Baptiste a try - go - you will be so glad you did. Just show up!

If you want to be physically challenged and trained in the art of mindfulness, this place is for you. Be prepared to grow as you sweat, stretch, balance, focus your attention, and play with the edge of your comfort and capability. While the core practice of the Baptiste Power Yoga method is the same at each of the studios across the country, each instructor adds their own special twist, emphasis, and insights based on their years of learning. Consequently, I discover something new at almost every class.

Billy is great!

If it's your first class (or whatever number and you don't have a package already bought), it's $16, but that can be later applied to the unlimited month if you want to sign up.

They have marks on the floor for where you should put your mat, which is a great help for if the class is full--mine was half full and it was a crazy number of people. It would have been harder to fit everyone I think if people put their mats wherever they wanted.

The room seems to get hotter and hotter...but they do have fans...which don't do much but make you hopeful that it's going to end soon :) I didn't think I was sweating until there were drops coming off me and landing on my mat and I wondered where they came from. They clean the room between classes, so don't worry about there being sweat everywhere!

Great Baptiste Power Yoga sessions. Very friendly staff. No showers.
Defiantly rewarding hot yoga sessions with very nice and friendly instructors. My sister got me to try yoga here and I started going every week, it is worth the 16$ or 13$ for students.

Baptiste offers the most physically challenging power vinyasa flow in the Boston area. It's hotter, faster and harder than any other studio, which makes Baptiste the perfect destination for yogis who like to push it the max Mountain Dew commercial-style. So there's that. But Baptiste yoga is also an amazing mental practice if you're open to it. Things come up while you're on your mat--and hopefully not just a string of expletives as you breathe still deeper into your third chair pose of the class. I've been a regular here for about two years and get something new out of almost every visit. The staff is super friendly and the instructors are consistently excellent, so it's definitely worth checking them all out since each brings something different to the practice. Also, if you love yourself at all, remember to hydrate.
