I don't normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to give a big shout-out and thank you to Brett at Best Fitness in Drum Hill. I had an incredibly stressful day and accidentally forgot my water bottle. My trainer, Mike Mehan -- who is hands-down the BEST trainer ever (A++!) -- went above and beyond to help me out. He spoke with Brett, and a few minutes later, came back to the workout area with a bottle of water and said, "No worries, it's on the house." I was so touched by their kindness and generosity. It might seem like a small gesture, but in that moment, it meant a lot. Huge thanks to both Brett and Mike for showing what true care and customer service look like!

Recently moved to the area and was excited to have a Best Fitness within walking distance. My previous gym in Springfield set a high bar, and unfortunately it seems the Drum Hill location is missing that mark. Multiple pieces of equipment were marked out of order, and the dumbbells were so used that the rubber on them was falling off of them. The whole location feels jammed together, and if you do come here please be prepared to get your cardio in going up and down the stairs.

Hoping that in the future this location can improve, but I may be checking out other locations elsewhere for the time being.

I would first like to start out by saying that I was very scared and anxious to join a gym. I picked best fitness in drum hill because it’s the closest gym to my house. I made an amazing decision to finally motivate myself and step through those doors. The friendly staff greeted me with a smile and made me feel welcomed. They made it feel like as if I had nothing to ever worry about. The equipment is also very suitable to my liking and I have no issues with it at all. I just started working out at this location after coming home for vacation. I got to meet with all of the staff and all of them are extremely accommodating and friendly. I was very surprised with the wide selection of cardio machine, weight machines and availability to work out in a rack. The bathrooms are always clean and the equipment is very clean aswell. If you have any sort of questions about weightlifting the staff is more than capable of helping you. This has been the best experience I’ve had in the gym in a really long time. If your looking for a gym for any age or experience of lifting I’d recommend this one.

I've been a member of this gym for quite a while here at Drum Hill and the other on Chelmsford St. When I joined the Drum Hill gym, I wasn't sure whether I was moving or whether I needed a pause for any particular reason. I was assured, at that time, that I could always pause the membership for six months if I ever needed to. This past fall, a close family member became ill and has now passed. I called the gym to pause, and they told me they'd "give me three months." I dropped it as this was not my priority at the time. Now that the funeral is all over, etc., I called again to reiterate my request for a six-month pause and not three. I explained that I'm tied up with Probate issues and other important things. The person on the phone would not honor what the Drum Hill manager had told me and cited "that's our policy." They already charged me the $73.99 annual fee in September, and another $12.50 in December for no reason at all - during the pause. When I called again, the person on the phone reminded me that the auto drafts of $24.99 will begin again this month, January of 2025. So, because I was experiencing personal family issues, "Best" Fitness decided to charge me in Dec., would not honor the Drum Hill manager's assurances, didn't even offer to talk with the Drum Hill manager, AND I have not even been offered any amount or attempt to reimburse me for the annual fee since I have now canceled my gym membership. So, for $87.47, "Best" Fitness just lost a loyal member. I do think they forgot who the customer is and who keeps them in business. So, Ok, here's my "review" using my very real, personal experience. I'll find another gym that actually caters to their customers ...and keeps them coming back. "Have a Nice Day!"

I've been a member at a few gyms throughout the years, Best Fitness Drum Hill has been my best experience.
The staff and manager are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

I appreciate Brett and Tania extending a warm greeting.

The place is very large. There are two floors that are kept clean, as is the locker room. You will never feel overcrowded upstairs. There are plenty of spaces on the second floor to stretch or work out alone.
Lots of free weights, floor mats,
kettlebells, etc. You never have to wait for a cardio machine or weight training and they recently replaced all worn pads and handles.
Staff is always available to help with questions or advice on how to achieve your goals.
There's a nice seating area in the front if you like, and they sell nutritional drinks for your convenience.
Lastly, but important to me, there is plenty of parking and easily accessible.

The manager of Drum Hill Best Fitness is accessible, checks up on your progress and is skillful in matching each client with the best trainer for personal goals and personality. Sean Fahey, my trainer, is quite knowledgeable of not only how the muscles and joints interact, clearly explains the correct positioning of my body during each exercise to avoid injury and maximize effectiveness, while also which exercises and equipment is best for my level of physicality. The entire staff are well trained and quite friendly. I feel like I am among friends and professionals during my sessions. I have even updated my skills with the Best Fitness app thanks to the patience and communication skills of my trainer and the support staff. Best Fitness Drum Hill has been for a long time my place to improve my balance, muscle development, conditioning, and, most importantly, a place where safety, cleanliness, and a positive atmosphere are a top priority.

Drum Hill Best Fitness is great. Brett and his Staff do everything to be sure it's clean and neat at all times. The vacuum cleaner is on constantly. Windows and machines are cleaned all the time. It's the cleanest place in town.

I started working out here about 6 months ago. It has one of the friendliest staff I have ever met. They’ll greet you and help with any issues at hand. They clean multiple times a day and keep the gym in top shape. I’ve been very happy with my switch to this gym and would recommend it for people looking for somewhere to workout. Scam Alert: I had a troubling experience with Best Fitness, and I think others should be aware of their tactics. They don't provide a clear price list, and there’s none available online either. When I asked for straightforward information on membership plans, I was given a sales pitch instead of clear pricing. They brought in a salesperson who, rather than answering directly, focused on my goals and gauged how much I'd be willing to pay, all under the guise of being "friendly."

This approach seems designed to see how much they can charge rather than offering fair, consistent plans. To make matters worse, you may find yourself paying for unexpected charges, and canceling your membership is unnecessarily difficult.

For anyone considering this gym, be cautious. Ask yourself why they’re so reluctant to be upfront about prices, and think twice before sharing any personal or financial information. There are many gyms out there with transparent, straightforward pricing—I’d recommend finding one of those instead.

Possibly the worst gym I’ve been to. They can’t get basic maintenance right. A recent (today) visit included the following fun:
* 3 of 4 paper towel dispensers do not work
* Multiple ellipticals are out of order with signs on them or visible damage
* Bench in the locker room is ripped out of the floor (and has been for months)
* Showers have some significant damage to the fiberglass and are growing mold in the damaged areas
* Shower curtains are moldy
* Bloody boogers are on the wall in the locker area (and have been for weeks)
* About 1/4 of the cardio is roped off with caution tape because I guess the roof is leaking. Like it has been .. FOR YEARS.

Employees are quick to greet you when you walk in but never fix or address any issues.

And they just raised prices. I give up on this dump. Someone open a competing gym, PLEASE.

I couldn’t be more disappointed! Avoid joining this gym at all costs. For the past 6 months, I’ve been attempting to cancel my plan, only to be treated as if I’m clueless. Despite being assured of a refund due to my relocation far from the gym, as was clearly stated during my subscription, nothing has been done, and the charges persist. Not once has the manager bothered to return my calls. And to add insult to injury, today I was unexpectedly charged for renewing the plan. I'm relatively new to the gym, so being surrounded by a supportive staff and safe environment is a priority, which this gym offers. So if this is a sign for you, definitely join and you won't be disappointed. I needed a gym while I was in town for a short visit. Best fitness in Drumhill was very accommodating and has everything I need to workout. The staff is very friendly and helped make sure my fitness goals could be reached. I am very thankful for Bret and his staff, very much appreciated.

Best fitness is an exceptional gym. I have been a member since moving to lowell 3 years ago, and its been nothing short of amazing. Drum Hill has amazing management but to be honest each location I have visited has had really great customer service, everyone is so nice and helpful.

Been a member here since 2002, my experience at the Drumhill location has been wonderful.I have been in the personal training program for over 6 months and the journey has been fantastic. Erica and the trainers are great, the music is wonderful in the morning and the managers are so accommodating. Thank you for everything you have done for me!

Decent gym for the price and I’m a good location for me. Staff is nice and the gym is never really packed when I go. Not a fan of the squat racks facing each other. Makes it a bit awkward. No stair machines at all. No weight trees down stairs makes it a bit annoying to hunt plates down shared between machines and benches. No dip bar for weighted dips. Everyone stretches on the turf making actual working out over there almost impossible. Dumbbell intcramenrs downstairs are by 5 not 2.5

This is a great gym for all ages. There is qualified management that monitors activity in the club so no intimidation is allowed. Whether one wishes to exercise alone or with a trainer is acceptable fine. There is a large range of available equipment.

Place is over crowded too many kids that sit on machines and stare at their phones I’ve taken it upon myself to just start making things awkward and telling folks to simply hurry it up staff could care less locker room is out dated and looks like a dump why pay 30$ monthly when you can pay 20 more and go to a bigger better quality gym

I walked in to cancel my membership but I get disappointed now. Yesterday I got three emails, to update my payment method. What did they do? The guy made me went twice, he didn’t clear it.

Last time on 04-14-23 in plain street lowell MA 01852 I walked in once to requested cancellation and he said you’re all set but he didn’t do anything either. So hate those places. Kind of cheat.

Went to this gym during undergrad and had no issues. Called and canceled my membership when I finished school three years ago. Turns out it was never canceled, and have been charged this whole time. Best Fitness was very unhelpful and didn't care I hadn't set foot inside their gym for 3 years, informing me I had to cancel in person and that all these charges will be permanent.

Always had a good experience here. They have enough machines and free weights for any exercise so you rarely have to wait for any part of your workout. The staff is friendly and they even gave me a water for free the other day when I forgot mine. It’s always clean, the staff is friendly, and it’s a good place to workout.
