The studio is centrally located but parking is very difficult and studio is run down. Rotting wood and mold in the locker room are unfortunate and I’ve personally seen cockroaches on multiple occasions. They seem to come out of the drain on the floor of the locker room. Beware of taking showers unless you want an athlete’s foot infection. Teachers are mediocre.

I have been going to BREATHE cambridge since March 2025. They have free trial passes and student deals for memberships which are great! I love the atmosphere and community that this studio has. Everyone is so welcoming and supportive. I have taken mostly every single type of class offered here and really enjoy all of them! The classes are challenging but motivating and the instructors do an amazing job of leading everyone through. I would recommend this place to my family and friends.

Breathe is absolutely amazing! The owner is the BEST—so welcoming, kind, and truly cares about every person who walks through the door. The customer service here goes above and beyond, and you can really feel the positive energy from the whole team.

I took their hot Pilates class, and it was hands-down the BEST I’ve ever experienced. The studio is clean, the atmosphere is motivating, and the class itself was both challenging and fun. I left feeling stronger, refreshed, and already looking forward to my next visit.

If you’re in Cambridge and looking for a place that combines expert instruction, top-notch customer care, and a truly uplifting vibe, Breathe is the spot!

With graduation coming up, I have been reflecting on what got me through grad school. BREATHE is at the top of the list. Working out used to feel like an annoying chore that detracted from my time. But since discovering BREATHE, it has become a way to recharge and, in that sense, a way of *adding* to my time.

There are many different places to work out in Cambridge, but BREATHE is special for three reasons:

1: the culture is somehow both non-judgmental *and* motivating. BREATHE is a good laboratory for learning how to cultivate the right attitude toward self-improvement. It’s a great place to learn how to actually enjoy pushing yourself without fear of failure.
2: instructors are consistently high quality. Each class has a carefully designed flow or routine, and I always feel like it is time/money well-spent.
3: instructors make a genuine effort to learn everyone’s name (I still don’t know how they do it!). This small but thoughtful gesture creates a nice community vibe. I didn’t even know I was a “community vibes” person… but it has really helped me feel encouraged in my practice. I think this norm also naturally facilitates more personalized instruction, which has been super helpful.

Bottom line: I can’t recommend BREATHE enough.

If you’re new to the studio, I recommend trying out a few different classes to find the style of class/instructor that suits your goals. Make sure to read the descriptions/look up styles on Youtube so you know what to expect. This is how I describe some of the classes in layman’s terms:
~Hot26 = yoga with only verbal instruction and it’s extra hot and extra meditative. I never thought I would survive -- much less enjoy -- being in the heat for 1.5 hours and repeating the same 26 moves each session, but it's really so lovely. You learn so much about yourself.
~Any other yoga class, such as Power or Align = yoga like the type you see on TV (with Downward Dog, etc.)
~Inferno Hot Pilates = intense tabata type thing that actually isn’t really pilates. Don't let the word 'inferno' scare you -- it is super fun.

Maybe the hottest class (26&2) in town. Sunday Hatha through ClassPass is a jam! Great room, instructors, and workout! *Can be quite intense/challenging/rewarding and extremely sweaty, so yea, everything that goes along with that.. Thank you Ally/Ashley/Sharon and team!!

i love aura’s hot power flow! shes the best. however, i think the studio could be a bit more vigilant with cleaning the floors and rental mats, as it tends to get pretty stinky by the evening classes. but aura is so good that i (and many other loyal students) often weather the stink.

I work in Boston and attend a high performance gym, being tight and needing a good stretch i’ve been doing Bikram on and off since 2012, dispointigly there are no Bikram studios in Boston, I stumbled on this gem and had Sharon as my teacher. She was excellent and teaches in great dialog style, I can’t wait to go back and be a part of the Bikram Yoga family there. It is great for you and no better feeling on the commute home. Thanks guys you Rock! 💪

Breathe Cambridge is truly a special place, and I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to experience it! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed into a warm, supportive community that meets you exactly where you are in your practice—whether you’re brand new or have been doing yoga for years.

Every class I’ve taken here has been transformative in its own way. Hot 26 is my personal favorite, especially the spine-strengthening series, which has helped my posture and relieved back pain I thought I’d just have to live with. Inferno Hot Pilates is the perfect mix of intensity and fun, and Glow Inferno makes it feel like a party while still totally kicking my butt! The restorative classes, like Breathe Slow and Restore with sound healing, have been deeply calming and a much-needed reset after long days.

No matter which class I take, I always leave feeling stronger, more centered, and grateful for the practice. The instructors are beyond amazing—encouraging, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about what they do. They create an environment where you can challenge yourself, listen to your body, and grow at your own pace.

Breathe Cambridge isn’t just a yoga studio—it’s a place where you reconnect with yourself, build resilience, and find a community that lifts you up. If you’re thinking about trying hot yoga or Pilates, this is the place to do it. Trust me, you won’t regret it! 💙🔥🧘‍♀️

Ive been coming to this studio for 5ish years now and I keep coming back. Ive moved all over Boston but their convenient location right on the T makes it pretty easy to get to. There’s also always parking for the days that a car is available for me.
The owners, staff and teachers are super knowledgeable and friendly. Class offerings continue to get better, there is even a breathwork class that I come to each week now, yay!
Not to scare anyone - it’s not always set to the max - but there isn’t a warmer humid room in Boston. Perfect for Hot 26 classes. Even if I’m low energy, being in this room is detoxifying on its own. Feels amazing in the winter especially for my skin.
I’ve tried almost all of the studios in Boston and I couldn’t recommend Breathe more. Love love love this place!! Give it a try!

I went during the weekend open-house. Otherwisr, I think the yoga sessions are over-priced. Even at the open-house, an employee and then the manager dissimulated and obfuscated when I asked when the lunch that was set out would be. "Maybe," the stupid employee said. Then down the hall, the manager would only tell me that the open house runs all day. I had asked about the lunch, and she knew it. Such rudeness and even passive aggressiveness do not foster a healthy yoga environment. Fortunately, another yoga place is just a few doors down the street, also on J. F Kennedy St in Cambridge.

I purchased an intro class pass not too long ago and I am obsessed. Hot 26, Breathe’s signature hot yoga class, was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. Being in a hot room and doing different yoga poses for 90 minutes is not easy - it is certainly a discipline - but it is rewarding. My favorite class is Inferno Hot Pilates, and all the instructors are great - both high energy and attentive! I look forward to continuing and developing my practice here. I've been practicing here for over three years now and I'm so grateful to have found this community of encouraging and loving instructors. Every class regardless of how tired I am I leave motivated to reach my personal best! I can't say it enough you have to come here to see for yourself.

There's a class for everyone, I would recommend any class for new yogis but I would caution to build up ones tolerance to heat for the HOT 26 classes although I would recommend giving them a try later 💗

And this is coming from a local who has been living in Boston for almost a decade 💪🏾

On May 30, I purchased an unlimited class pass for a year for $1320. Today, I attended a class and was treated poorly. I didn't appreciate that the instructor keeps criticizing me, even in previous sessions. I actually don't like her class but decided to attend because it fit my early schedule today. I tried to quietly exit during the mini-break and was about to wipe the mat when she said in a nasty tone, "Leave the mat." Then, she even followed me to the exit door, saying in a nasty tone, "You can't leave the class; the class is 1.5 hours long."

I said, "Some people leave the class, why single me out?" There were also a few students in the class, so I certainly didn't disturb anyone. I didn't like the consistent criticism because everyone has a different body. It is my responsibility to take care of myself and not be imposed upon by an instructor who doesn't understand other people's well-being. I've been practicing yoga for two decades, and it's always safety first. This is my first time encountering a nasty instructor who keeps criticizing me in class, calling my name.

Yoga is meant to make you feel better, not worse, or to accept an instructor's negative vibe, especially in the morning. I do not recommend this place, nor will I return. I'll go somewhere else where I know I can be treated better. I am calling my credit card for a dispute. What a waste.

The one studio in the Boston area where you're only a visitor once and then you forever feel like family. It's very rare to enter a space in a metro area that feels more like home than a business and thanks to owner/ founder Shelley's collaborative and inclusive approach to leadership, Breathe nails it. If heated rooms and variety are your jam you'll find everything from Vinyasa flows to Hot 26. HIIT sequences are set with weights while Pilates are danced under rave-themed neon lights. . .all balanced with varied restorative yin classes sprinkled in between. All I can say is NAMASTE!

Honestly, it’s almost a shame that I’ve found Breathe when I have.

Breathe is, imo the gold standard for hot yoga. What does this mean for the rest of my yoga life if I leave Boston? Disappointment.

The instructors are all exceptionally kind and approachable at the desk before/after class. The classes are unique and exciting. It truly feels like- at least once a week I’m doing something I’ve never before, or some playful variation from the norm. Variations are offered for beginner thru advanced in the classes I attend. It’s hot, like really hot. Also, Shelly somehow seems to know everyone by name….

Since going to Breathe initially I’ve visited several other studios in Boston, and in other cities while traveling. Though I have found other good classes, it’s just not the same…

Thanks to all the Breathe instructors who show up with such positive energy and excellent teaching skills. You, coupled with the excellent community that attend the studio make this place a true gem in Cambridge/Boston.

I usually never write reviews but I cannot recommend this place enough! I found them through Groupon and decided to try it out. It was my first time ever doing hot yoga and hot pilates and I was really nervous. The amazing instructors were so kind and supportive. They constantly reminded me and the class to listen to our bodies and always offered modified versions of what they were teaching. Then to top it off, when I finished my first class the instructor Aura, came up to me and asked how it went! I thought maybe because it was my first time they asked but then after my second class, my instructor Alanna asked how the class went for me. Talk about caring about your students. So excited to join as an official member when my Groupon classes run out! ❤️

Unwelcoming and snooty. I did a hot yoga class with my partner, who had recently had surgery. In the middle I *whispered* to my partner, who was caught in the sun, to see if they were doing ok because I was concerned about heat exhaustion. I got multiple shushes from the people around me and then the instructor (who knew it was our first time doing hot yoga) called us out in the middle of class for talking. She didn't even ask if we were ok. Ended up leaving early. Not worth it.

Breathe's owner, Shelley, and the rest of Team Breathe are absolutely amazing. I am a decidedly non-athletic individual and it is a real testament to their exceptional teaching skills and the extraordinarily welcoming and supportive atmosphere that they have created that they have actually made me miss whimper-inducing workouts.

I had never done hot yoga before walking through Breathe's door, and precious little yoga or Pilates. Not once, however, have I felt uncomfortable or embarrassed while practicing. If you are a newcomer too, don't be surprised if you feel a little overwhelmed by the heat of the studio at first (or even occasionally later on) - just take whatever time you need to collect yourself, hydrate and keep going. The studio's instructors manage to strike the perfect balance between demanding and encouraging - they keep me pushing hard but never make me feel crummy when I am having an off day or fall behind the more practiced students. And, by golly, the sense of accomplishment you get at the end of every class is fantastic (and thoroughly addictive!).

Between the high calibre of the instruction and the wonderful sense of community at the studio, I suspect you will find Breathe as welcoming and as good for your mind, body, muscles and sense of balance as I have.

Other things I like:
- sunny studio
- mats and towels provided
- occasional guest teachers and special workshops
- water bottle fountain on premises

Of the instructors I have had, I'd definitely give a special shoutout for: Shelley C., Sophie A., Steven P., Lily H. and Sharon McG.

Breathe Cambridge has become part of my everyday life. A friend of mine had great things to say about the studio/ classes but I was never able to check them out because of my work schedule. They have been offering free online classes since the shut down and now I practice with Shelley, Pablo, and Fuego (instructor/ owner, husband/ motivational speaker, and their adorable baby, respectively) at least five times a week. Besides having an array of classes from pilates, yoga, hiit, and sun salutations, they have a variety of instructors and every class is challenging. Their positive vibes are contagious and all instructors motivate you through the class and provide clear instruction. I am always looking forward to class and helps me through my day mentally and physically. Breathe is more of a community and connection than just a work out! And all classes embody connection, mind, body, and soul. So check them out for yourselves. Right now during the pandemic you can watch them online (via Facebook). Can't wait to try them out in person!!!

Even during COVID-19, the Breathe Cambridge community is staying strong. Check out their Facebook for amazing (and FREE!) yoga and pilates classes, along with inspiration to help you through your pandemic woes. Facebook live classes are great for feeling like you're a part of the community, and all live classes are available as recordings to watch / exercise on your own schedule. IHP, especially, is a great way to work out the pent-up, stuck-at-home energy!

BREATHE is a community unlike any other. The classes are challenging, creative, and fun. The instructors have different playlists and sequences for nearly every class that keeps you on the edge of your mat. Breathe is welcoming and supportive to those of all ages, body types and fitness levels. They’ve been holding free virtual classes for the duration of the COVID pandemic, which really speaks to the integrity of this family owned business. Shelley and Pablo, the owners have done an incredible job building this community, and it really shows.

Friendly staff and great services! The instructors are kind, patient, challenging and helpful. The facilities are clean and provide everything you need to attend class. It is a healthy, positive space, and the many deals they have going on make it a rare affordable yoga studio here in Cambridge - a great addition to the community because of that.

I haven’t done hot yoga in about 6 or 8 months but I was hoping to try it at this studio for the first time. I’ve never had to leave a hot yoga class before, but I got a massive headache during class and went to leave. I got completely chewed out by the instructor (I thought she was coming over to ask if I was ok!), who said in rather nasty tone, “You haven’t done bikram before, have you?” (I had told her on arrival that I hadn’t done it in a while but had done it off and on in the past). Not how I expected to be treated at a new studio and I don’t plan on returning.

Review on the class itself: If you don’t want your instructor to tell you “it should hurt” and bark orders at you, don’t come here.

2008 review (updated) I want to share the facts.....If you know what Yoga is then you have found a great studio with great instructors, clean and friendly environment and an ideal location.

If you are unfamiliar with Bikram Yoga then Google it and read for 5 min. It is intense, heated yoga, and provides you w/ an overall feeling of accomplishment upon completion. Key is completion. If you like a challenge and want to push yourself to a level of deep focus and concentration there is no better place! Take your time... sit in your 1st session and just BREATHE. You will cleanse toxins from your body through sweat and the unique breathing exercise. This I speak of only through what I felt when an active member. My first day got me hooked because of the overall health benefits I was feeling. I am a Health Coach and was pleasantly surprised when the instructor educated the class during exercises!!!! GREAT PLACE FOR AN UNBELIEVABLE AND CHALLENGING WORKOUT. If I do this forever I may be living well beyond 120 yr. Wohooooo!! Just wish it was more affordable.

I have been an active person my whole life - gymnast, professional dancer, triathlete, cyclist. Then I got sidelined after a cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery. I was thrown into menopause and faced a 6 month recovery period minimum, during which I put on a lot of weight. I was a wreck - emotionally, mentally and physically. I tried all kinds of things to help me get to a place physically that I recognized - but couldn't find it. My daughter and I tried Breathe Cambridge. I barely made it through that first class. I wasn't going to go back - but with my daughters encouragement and the amazing support I received from the Breathe Cambridge staff I have turned the corner. I am back to being me, again. Thank you Breathe Cambridge - and your wonderful staff of instructors across the board. You have given me myself back to me! xo

I have been coming here for almost 15 years and it is on daily habit (some times I will even do a double!). What more can I say except that it is best thing I can do for my health: Physical and Mental (some call it Spiritual). With the new owners and some new kick-butt classes and new flooring, they have rejuvenated the place, just as I feel rejuvenated every day I go there.

As someone in the construction industry I have fought back pain for many years. Hot yoga has been the one exercise that constantly gives relief and helps strengthen. Add to that the wonderful vibe, teachers, and welcoming culture, I can’t recommend Breathe Cambridge enough.

Breathe is my favorite yoga studio! It's very easy to get to in Harvard Square, just a block from the Harvard Square T stop. I bike in every day and there's plenty of bike parking. The studio is clean and comfortable with great amenities that make you feel right at home. What keeps me coming back every day is the great workout that I get in all the classes offered here. Also the sense of community. It's always hard to pull myself away from chatting with my yoga comrades and go back out onto the street. But let's talk about the classes. I see people of all ages and backgrounds there, and in all levels of fitness. There are many people trying to work through old or new injuries, as well as people who are new to regular exercise - like me. Everyone is always welcome and I've never seen anyone be judged or treated in any way other than total acceptance. The Classic 90/60 series is the hot 26 & 2 series that many people may be familiar with. It's always a challenge and the instructors are very good and always interested to see you improving in your practice. Hot Pilates and Hot Hatha Sculpt are real butt-kickers. You will do very well for yourself to attend these classes as two weeks of changes everything. I've integrated class at Breathe into my daily schedule and for someone who doesn't come from an athletic background I can say that I've never felt stronger and happier in my whole life!
