We love going to swim every week! My toddler loves miss jordan and is so comfortable in the water. At 14 months she’s starting to kick her legs and loves jumping in! My only issue is the water is a tad cold. They claim the water is 86 degrees but it’s been consistently colder than that, usually 83 degrees.

I had an outstanding experience at British Swim School. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed by the professional and friendly staff. The instructors demonstrated exceptional skill, patience, and dedication, creating a safe and encouraging environment for learning. Their clear guidance and personalized approach helped me feel confident in the water, making the learning process both effective and enjoyable. The structured lessons, attention to detail, and emphasis on safety truly distinguish British Swim School. I left each session feeling accomplished, motivated, and grateful for the experience.

My girls love their lessons here and our swim lesson days are joyful for them. The pool area is comfortable, not sweltering hot like some places, and the instructors are all wonderful. I love the curriculum and the prioritization of survival skills.
My issues are with the owners of this particular franchise, their business polices, and what to me is an unethical way of treating families of young kids and running a business that is focused on after school programming for kids.
We took private lessons for about 6 months, at a considerable expense. When the instructor cancelled our lessons last minute, three times, after we had already either been at the pool or on the way to the pool (one of these times they failed to notify us at all), the still charges us for these lessons in full and expected us to accommodate schedule makeup lessons on days and times that didn't work for our schedule. There was no space for a credit and when I inquired they pointed me in the direction of their policy that does not explicitly say anything about private lessons, instructor cancellations, and makeups. I pulled my kid from private lessons and put her in group ($80/half hr is a lot to pay for a service that isn't guaranteed by the company-when they failed to provide the agreed upon service they still charged me and put the responsibility on us to seek out the service. Not a great way to do business.)
We recently moved on a lesson day, to a new home where cell phones didn't work (horrible reception) on a day we hadn't yet setup WiFi. It was a crazy day and we didn't show up to swim. I later found out I was charged in full for the lessons (which seemed fair and what I expected) but that they also revoked the makeups AND charged a $10 fee for each lesson we missed. Most business charge that fee because they don't charge in full for the service when a client fails to shop up. The owners of this franchise have found a way to tack on an unnecessary fee when families don't cancel within 9 hours (so if a kid gets sick in school and can't attend they charge for the class, don't allow you to makeup the class, and charge additional money for what can only be assume is a deceptive way to fund their bottom line.) When I inquired about it, my concerns were dismissed.
Other programs, like Worcester Fitness, offer makeups for all missed classes, regardless of whether or not the parent remembers to log into the online portal that is not at all easy to find on their website (and when you call them they never answer their phones). And other programs most certainly don't tack on this deceptive, unethical, and highly questionable fee.
Overall it's a good place for lessons, though the instructors are all really young (and likely underpaid). But if you're looking to engage with business owners who care about their product and the clients (kids) they serve, go elsewhere. And read the other negative reviews. Other parents, like me, posted negative reviews not because of the quality of lessons but because of the unfair business practices that result in families being charged for services they did not actually receive.

We love it there! My daughter has been going since 4 months old. As new parents we were nervous at first but the instructor we had (Jordan) was fantastic at making us feel comfortable in that setting with her.
Our daughter is now 13 months and loves going along with going under water! She is out little water bug!

We love British Swim Paxton! E has learned so much and truly enjoys every second she is on the pool. We are so proud of the progress she’s made in just a year, and each instructor is patient, kind and knowable (shout out to Morgan and Made!) We are excited to continue watching her progress with Ella and learn skills that reinforces her love for swimming and keep her safe in the water!

We love this program and all the instructors! My five-year-old daughter has been taking classes for four years. She can now jump in a pool and swim from one end to the other!! It’s been amazing to see her progress. If you think it’s important for your child to learn water survival skills (and so much more), I highly recommend this program!!

I can't say enough good things about British Swim school. First and foremost, the teachers are absolutely incredible. My son has Coach Maddy (Madelaine) for his Shark 1 class. She is encouraging, kind, and informative. She has a warmth to her that makes my son excited to attend class every week with her. My daughter is in Swimboree with Coach May. She was hesitant about swimming at first but May has made her feel comfortable and trusting in the water with her. She is so excellent at providing my daughter with gentle direction and helping her learn her skills. Both coaches are extremely skilled and knowledgeable about swimming and the strokes and give the kids examples and allow them to ask questions and will help correct their form. The facility is clean and they monitor the pool temp. This swim school has just the right balance between life saving skill lessons and fun playtime and activities for the kids. The app is sooo easy to use and makes absence submission and rescheduling very manageable and simple. I had initially just signed the kids up to learn safety and floating skills and now love watching my son excel with new strokes and look forward to my daughter growing with the program.

Very disappointed. The staff is very young and I didn’t feel like my daughter was getting the right attention. I communicated my concerns and canceled my membership and am being charged “no show” fees.

I understand that the instructors may have other commitments and understood this when signing Mia up for lessons but would encourage more continuity. Trust is crucial to Mia so having different instructors can affect how long she's going to float without her maintaining physical contact. I have been working on floating with her all summer myself.

If your child is told that they don't have to go into the water until they're ready, that's a lie.
If you want staff to respect your child's personal space and not grab their arm and hold them in place, then this place might not be for you.
In short, I am very upset with the staff at the Paxton swim school. Yesterday, my wife and I took my son for his second lesson. He really did not like the first but my wife and I think it's important to really try at something before giving up. We talked to him about what was making him uncomfortable as he loves being in pools and ponds around home. My son said it was too loud and he didn't like being moved around without him being ready. My wife and I told him the instructors need to move his arms and legs sometimes and that we understood why that would be upsetting. The compromise we came up with was that no one would do that outside the water, and that he would not go into the water until HE was ready.
Yesterday, we went to his second lesson. He was very upset but again we reminded him to do his best and try and get the most out of the experience. A staff member saw he was upset, came over and tried to calm him down. He shyed away, which is when the staff member started rubbing his arm to which he tried to pull his arm away. Then the staff member held his arm and got really close to his face (it was loud in the pool area but still) and told him that no one was going make him do anything until he was ready. Just as I was getting ready to ask her to step back (as I could see my son was uncomfortable) she let go and we went on our way.
I sat with him at a bench and tried to talk him through things, reminding him that the instructors in the pool would have to show him what to do with his arms and legs and trying to get him excited. When it came to be his turn the instructor did her best to coax him into the pool but he said no. I said maybe next turn and went back to explaining things to him. Then, another staff member, came up and told us that he would have to eventually go into the water and face his fears. My wife tried explaining that he's not afraid of the water but was cut off by the new staff member, saying that we paid for the lesson so if he's just going to sit then that's what we paid for. I then nodded and she moved off. My son needed a tissue which I forgot to pack, so I went to the front desk to see if I could use some, leaving my son with my wife.
When I came back, I saw my very upset son in the water, thrashing and yelling. My wife looked very upset as well and the new staff member (the "you paid for the lesson..." woman) standing by. I was immediately on edge and also did not want to make my son and wife more upset so I came around the pool as my son was getting out. I told him he did a brave thing and tried to be as positive as possible. That's when my wife said that they pulled my son away from her and put him in the water (the one to pull him away was the woman who told us we paid for the lesson).
I didn't yell, I didn't lash out, since what would that accomplish? I did want to say to the too close lady that she lied to my son when she said no one would make him do anything he wasn't ready for, but instead, I just said "We're done here," and helped pack everything up and leave.
I don't care about the fact that this place is taking my family's money for lessons we won't use (you have to pay for lessons in advance, there's no refund, and you have to give WRITTEN notice to cancel; that's their predatory practice to keep you locked in). I care about the hypocricy of telling my son one thing and then making him do another.
In short, these people (at least in the Paxton branch) are hypocritical liars who don't care for your child's personal space and just want your money. Don't sign your children up for this. These are terrible people.

We’ve been bringing my son here since he was 3 months old. He is almost 9 months old now and it was one of the best decisions I made as a mother. He is comfortable in the water, and I went into the summer more confident knowing he was familiar with water. All the instructors have been great, especially Ms. Morgan. The App is awesome! It makes submitting absences and booking make-ups extremely easy. I can’t recommend it enough!

We had a great experience with my 3 grandkids at this school. In the short time we were there the kids advanced quickly. The instructors were great and very patent with the kids as they struggled to feel safe in the water. They are now freely jumping in and swimming around.

We had a terrible experience at paxton location, first they wouldn't level up my daughter for no reason, they didn't evaluate it even once despite of my several attempts (she was okay to level up). Their excuse was their instructor forgot. After that they canceled my daughter class because instructor didn't show up. After that they never responded to my phone calls/messages. This year when I wanted to continue with them because it's the nearest, they messaged me back that I disappeared and I have outstanding balance which they are sending to collection! I mean wow no accountability for their actions and unorganization, I am not going to pay for the services I didn't get for a ridiculous price! Save your time and money please!

Both of my sons (2&1/2 and 4) take classes at British Swim School, and it's been amazing! My older son has been in class for about a year, and my younger son just started. The focus is first on being comfortable in the water, then a big focus on water safety/survival - all while making it fun, engaging, and exciting for the kids. I've been amazed at how much my older son has learned and progressed in a short period of time, and I will keep my kids in British Swim School so that they will continue to be comfortable and safe in the water. Daniel is a fantastic teacher, and passes his expertise on to the other instructors. The classes are small, giving each kid a chance to have individualized attention and instruction, while also getting to observe the other students. I'm so glad we tried them out, and we're in it for the long haul!
