I was recommended to get a gym membership because I’m fat.
So I went with choice fitness I told the employee my plan was to lose 50 pounds of fat. He said ok I’m gonna recommend a personal trainer Carlos. 12 sessions for $800. Bucks pulse a gym membership for $49.99 a month pluse a $34.99 maintenance fee every month. I told Carlos I wanted to lose 50 pounds he said ok we are gonna get you started on strength training, again I repeated my self I said I want to lose 50 pounds not gain wait he said okay we are going to get you started on strength training
I said okay you’re the LIC PROFESSIONAL I’m following your lead here. I weighed in at 267.8 starting out. By the time I finished 12 sessions I weighed in at 287.8
I gained 20 pounds!!!!!
I told Carlos my knees can’t carry that much weight.
I could not believe it I even stopped eating fast food and I started the same day I started at the gym. The reason why I gained weight was because muscle ways more than fat.
But I did not sign up for that, Carlos does not listen.
So I’m taking choice fitness to the Cleaners a pound of fat for a pound of gold. 20 pounds of gold thank you very much.

They are not allowing me to cancel my membership even after a year of membership.
First two times when I went there to cancel they said come back when the manager is available. That’s during my work hours.
When I called them, they say I cannot cancel membership over phone.
In the meantime I cancelled my credit card which was being charged.
Finally I took off from work just to go there during my work hours and they say I cannot cancel it without paying the back charges, which is from the day I called them to cancel it.
They call me with an automated phone call everyday and harass me!

This used to be a 4-5 star gym, but no more.

I live out of town, but end up in Lowell a lot for contracted work or to see friends. So when I'd come to town now and then, I'd use this gym because it's got great equipment selection, and a day pass was only $10 like any other reasonable normal gym. Well, now their day pass has suddenly doubled to $20.

Who in their right mind would spend 20 bucks to spend an hour or two using equipment at a gym that isn't even very fancy or special? What a load of garbage.

I work out at night. The night staff is good, moreover this is like an old school gym. Almost old school. Machines, devices, weights. No time for sissy complaints, like you're making too much noise. You go there to work out. And you can get a shake, whereas planet fitness you cant. PF has 4 smith machines, 2 are closed due to COVID. Choice has FOUR squat racks and EIGHT different Pectoral benches. That's just the first difference. You can build actual muscle here, and the supplement store has someone who knows the science of muscle building. That's the whole damn point. Sorry, no flowers in the bathroom...

Beware that they have a tendency to "FORGET" to cancel your membership. I have had 2 instances. The first one was in 2020, I had canceled because of Covid and found out 3 months later that my credit card was used by another member. I did not make a big deal, as mistakes happen (and I didn't want to get someone in trouble). Second instance: Last October (2021), I asked one of the employees at the desk to cancel my membership at the end of that month. I was assured it would be taken care of. I love to use the Sauna before and after a workout. There is so much equipment including cardio, bands, machine, dumbbells and barbells. They off classes and personal training. There is also a weight scale to check your weight, showers, lockers, smoothie bar at the front and a supplements shop off to the side when you first walk in.

I spoke to their associate before I subscribed for their membership. I made sure I call and inquire about unsubscribing whenever I’m no longer interested in their membership. The associate told me that if I applied for a certain tier, I can unsubscribe whenever I want to and I did - paying slightly more for that benefit.

Besides my reasons for not wanting to go there anymore, my attempt to cancel the membership has become harder. I called and I was advised the only person to manage cancellations is their manager Scott whose never at the gym. Apparently I needed to go there in the morning hours to see if he would be there. Imagine!

Of course the manager (Scott) denied anyone ever telling me that. I asked if they record their calls, i would be willing to get him the date and time. I have email records of when I registered back mid 2021 and the phone call happened about 30mins before my application was submitted. He didn’t have an answer. He kept insisting that their membership is 12 months.

Majority of the staff is completely rude. A couple of the managers are kind and know how to do their job but their staff are completely unprofessional. Their hours are never consistent what they say online is never accurate to when they’re actually open. They advertise a 24 gym in reality they’re open 24 hours 3 out of 7 days a week which happen to be the least convenient ones. I can’t count on one hand the amount of times they have supposed to be open and I’ve showed up to use the gym and the place was closed. The tanning bed rooms are always dirty. The only reason I continue to use this facility is out of convenience and the 2 staff members that have actually made any experience there enjoyable.

This place is the mutt's nuts. All the equipment, tons of weights, loads of room and there is even a protein shake bar. There's a quiet room upstairs if you don't want too much company for your workout plus they run some classes. Even at peak meathead hour (5-6pm) you can still get a decent workout and the other gym users are generally pretty nice. Also included: a CrossFit zone, two punchbags, sauna and a whole load of mirrors by the free weights.

Horrible staff and management. My keys were stolen off there key rack and the person went and stole out of my car and left the keys on my seat.. It was late nite and my keys were the only set of keys on the board, in which there is a note stating (smile your on camera). The front desk guy was no where to be seen, when I found him and told him he didn't seem to care and never reported the incident to his manager. I came in the next day to report it to the manager. Good gym but it has some out dated machines and repairs are a but slow. Also can be a bit crowded at times. Lastly dumbells only go up to 110. Great gym to start out with but for serious lifters it may be a little bit unsatisfactory.
