CRF is the best facility for athletic training and physical therapy on Nantucket. This spring I was looking for a place to rehab an Achilles tear and maintain my fitness to support recovery. I feel lucky to have found CRF. Christian (training) and Kate (therapy) helped me transition out of the boot 8 weeks after surgery in June to hitting new PRs by August. Their new facility is top notch.

I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND CRFitness!!!

TLDR: If you really care about becoming STRONGER, and HEALTHIER—if you’ve been too intimidated or unsure to start on your own— if you’re looking for a supportive, enthusiastic, and motivating environment—OLD or YOUNG, EXPERIENCED or INEXPERIENCED, CRF is absolutely the BEST option and resource on Nantucket Island, and the best I’ve been to during my time anywhere in MA and GA.

I first started classes at CRF a little over a year ago. I was looking to build muscle and stability in a way that yoga and calisthenics alone wasn’t really doing. For my physical needs, and as someone who hadn’t done weight or gym work in a number of years, Christian suggested I start with CRF Foundations. It quickly became the favorite part of my week, with excellent routines, balanced strengthening, superb instruction, and a great bunch of classmates! It was so welcoming and accessible, with sets and exercises that can be adapted to anyone’s level of fitness. It prioritized Intentional movements and pacing, in addition to intensity, to maximize the effect and gains from them, which was perfect for my hypermobility. I still take these classes because, even though they are foundational exercises, they progress with you—I have continued to see amazing muscle growth, stability, and more.

I was amazed at my progress over the first weeks with just two focused classes a week, and so happy with progress over the first 6 months. When my schedule started to change and I could only go once a week, I was able to take all of the foundational movements, training, form, and strategy I’d learned and build my own routines to use during Open Gym hours. My body is so strong and supported now, with both dramatic and subtle changes in my muscle/body composition. I have never gotten any injuries from my time with CRF because of the way they teach and direct, emphasizing attention and intention, not just speed (which skips all the strengthening, by the way!).

I’ve also taken CRF Fortify and CRF Prepared and absolutely love the dynamic options available. I want to work my way into the occasional CRF Build class soon as well! The whole CRF team is so knowledgable, experienced, and encouraging. They really care about the long term positive health and life effects of fitness for its students, beyond just the aesthetic improvements that come with it (although those are fantastic too! I feel the best I ever have about my body and appearance). I’ve never met anyone as passionate about fitness as a tool for Strength, Health, and Longevity, as Christian Rivera.

I repeat!! Chris could not be more gracious in welcoming me to his studio. I did a group class as a newbie, everyone was super cool, the workout was AWESOME! I highly recommend for island residents and especially for those visiting that need to scratch the exercise itch for a reasonable price, CR is a great place!

I never thought I would be able to do a lunge successfully from a knee injury in high school and always avoided them but with patience and great instruction, Christian has taught me that I can do them! He will take the time to walk through movements with you and accommodations if needed. If you are looking for great motivation, coaching, and a few laughs, Christian is where you need to go!

I started going to the group classes at CRFitness about 10 weeks ago. I can see and feel a difference in my strength, energy and body overall. One hour, twice a week- for this busy mom of three- it’s my therapy! I can go, do the workout, have a few laughs and just focus on myself. Even with an old knee injury- Christian gives me an alternative exercise to help rebuild the strength there and it’s working!
